Amity's intro
Water. Earth. Fire. Air.
Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them, but when the world needed her most, she vanished. A hundred years passed, and me, Willow
and Gus discovered the new Avatar, an airbender named Luz. And although her airbending skills are great, she has a lot to learn before she's ready to save anyone.
But I believe Luz can save the world
The episode begins a shot of a meteor shower. Camera pans down with Luz, Amity, Gus, Willow, Eda, Camila and Boscha watching the meteor shower.
"Wow, this is amazing to watch." Amity said
Cut closer to a side-view of the group.
"Kind of makes you realize how insignificant we are." Willow said
(Close-up. Causally.) "Eh, you've seen it once, you've seen it many times before." Boscha said
Cut further away showing the meteor shower above them. They see a big meteor heading for the ground and let out gasps of amazement.
"Oh man," (Close-up. Standing.) "You've never seen anything like this." Gus said
The others, minus Boscha, stand up next to him. Cut to panning shot as the meteor flies past. Cut to an overhead shot of the meteor as it flies past the group. Cut to a side-view of the group as the meteor passes overhead. Cut to Gus and Willow as they turn to see the meteor crash nearby. Cut to the other side of a hill as Boscha climbs up. Cut to wide shot as the camera zooms out with the group looking toward the crash site. Frontal view of Luz, Amity, Gus, Willow, Eda and Camila who look at each other concerned. Cut to the team arriving at the crash site on Appa.
"The fire is gonna destroy that town!" Camila exclaimed
"Not if we can stop it!" Luz said
Cut to Appa landing next to the crash site. Everyone but Amity, Gus and Eda jump off.
(Jumps onto Appa's head, taking the reins.) "I know of a creek nearby. Gus and Eda can bend the water onto the fire." Amity said (Signals Appa to take off.)
(Frontal view of Luz, Willow, Camila and Boscha.) "Boscha, let's make a trench to stop the fire from coming any closer. Mom, try and blow it back the best you can." Luz said
Luz, Camila and Boscha move off. Willow looks down.
"What should I do?" Willow asked
Cut to view from Willow's perspective as Luz, Camila and Boscha stop to respond. King flies by.
(Slight pause, points at King.) "Keep an eye on King." Camila said
Cut to an aerial view of Willow. King lands on her shoulder.
"So what, I'm just a dog sitter?" (Pets King, sarcastically.) "There, there, feel better?" Willow asked
Cut to Luz and Boscha as they begin to earthbend while Camila is airbending to keep the fire at bay. Cut to aerial shot as a trench forms. Briefly cut back to Luz and Boscha continuing to earthbend. Cut to an aerial shot as they finish the trench, pushing the fire back. Cut to an aerial view of Willow as flames fly near her and land on the ground. Willow puts out one with her machete, however King ups her by putting out the other five at the same time, much to her dismay. Cut to Amity, Gus and Eda on Appa flying over a river. Gus and Eda bend some water and they return to the crash site. Cut to a side-view of the three, on Appa, with a large globule of water following behind. Frontal view of Gus and Eda as they begin to waterbend the water behind her. Side-view of the crash site as Willow and King look on while Gus and Eda put out some of the fire with their waterbending. Cut to Boscha beginning to earthbend. Cut to an aerial view of her and the nearby crash site as she uses earthbending to put some of the fire out. Cut to Willow, who sits, watching, along with King as the earth Boscha is using rolls past. Cut to Luz as Appa flies past with Amity, Gus and Eda. Gus and Eda give Luz some water to bend. waterbending and airbending to put the rest of the fire out, but the water hits Willow and Luz's blast also makes it snow.
"Willow, stand clear!" Luz said
(Side-view of the crash site with Willow and King looking left.) "Right." (Picks up King and makes him move away.) "Staying clear, got it." Willow said
Cut to Luz as she begins to use both the water and airbending. Cut to a frontal view of Willow still walking away as the water overwhelms her. Cut to an aerial view of the crash site as the water expands to put out the fire. The dome of water explodes into snow. Cut to a frontal view of Luz as Appa, along with Amity, Gus and Eda, lands behind her as Camila and Boscha walk toward her, too.
"Good work, everybody." Luz said
Aerial view of the town and crash site. Cut to Willow as she emerges from a pile of snow. King slides across the icy surface.
Cut to a Fire Nation prison. Cut inside. A door opens, lighting up the masked face of Kaldo. Cut outside the cell as Warden Poon enters the room and approaches the cell. Frontal view of Poon as he drops a bowl. Side close-up view of the floor as the bowl lands on the ground which is kicked into the cell by Poon. The camera follows the bowl which tips over and the contents spill out. Kaldo approaches hurriedly and eats it like an animal.
"Look at you," (Frontal view.) "you're just a fat, disgusting old man." (Panning aerial view from behind.) "You do nothing, you say nothing, you just eat and roll around in your own filth like a pig." (Frontal view of Poon as Kaldo continues to eat.) "You're a disgrace." Warden Poon said (Spits on the floor in front of him and leaves.)
Frontal view of Iroh as the door shuts. Close-up of Kaldo as he stops eating. Kaldo moves his mask back in place. Cut to a frontal view further away as he sits up and starts eating like a normal person, not eating anything from the floor as the camera pans out.
Scene changes to aerial view of the town Team Avatar saved. Cut to a side-view of an outdoor restaurant. Luz joins Amity, Gus, Eda, Camila and Boscha at a table.
"These people have no idea" (Closer side-view of the group.) "how close they were to getting toasted last night." Luz said
"Yeah, the worst thing about being in disguise is that we don't get the hero worship anymore. I miss the love." Boscha said
(Sarcastically.) "Boo-hoo," (Shot of Willow from behind looking back.) "poor heroes." Willow said (Turns away.)
Frontal view of Willow with the others sat further behind her.
"What's your problem? You haven't even touched your smoked sea slug." Amity said
"It's just, all you guys can do this awesome bending stuff like putting out forest fires, and flying around and" (Side-view of Luz, Amity, Gus, Eda, Camila and Boscha.) 'making other stuff fly around. I can't fly around, okay? I don't use my bending so much, so…" (View of Willow from behind.) "I can't do anything." Willow said

"That's not true. No one can read a map like you." Eda said
"I don't read much!" Boscha said
"Yeah, and who keeps us laughing with sarcastic comments all the time?" (Frontal view of Luz and Amity.) "I mean, look at Amity's hair, right? What's up with that?" Luz asked
"What? What's wrong with my hair?" Amity asked (Blushes.)
(Realizing her mistake.) "Nothing. I was just trying to …" Luz tried to explain
"Look, I appreciate the effort," (Cut to view from behind.) "but the fact is each of you is so amazing and so special and I'm ... not." (Side-view close-up.) "I'm just the girl with earthbending in the group who looks regular." Willow said
(Approaches and sits next to her.) "I'm sorry you're feeling so down, but I hope you know, none of us see you that way." (Frontal view of the two. Looks down for a moment before putting her hand on Willow's shoulder.) "I know something that's going to make you feel better." Camila said
(Side-view. Sadly.) "You do?" Willow asked
Cut to a close-up of Willow's face as the camera quickly pans out to reveal they are inside a shop full of weapons and armor.
"Shopping!" (Clapping excitedly. Runs toward the camera. Cut to a side-view as she approaches to view some weapons.) "Maybe a little something to reinvigorate my weapon battling." (Spots some nunchaku.) "Hey, how about these?" Willow asked (Frontal view of Willow. Willow tests the nunchaku, making attacking noises, but she hits Gus on the head causing him to fall into some of the other weapons which made Willow put the nunchaku back nervously.)
Cut to Amity trying on some gloves.
"They seem to be a good look on you." Eda said
(Off-screen.) "What do you think?" (Cut to Luz as the camera pans up to see her wearing strange, scary armor.) "Pretty slick, huh?" (Close-up of Amity and Eda with scared and surprised expressions. Side-view of Amity and Eda approaching Luz, holding their hands up to avoid the glare coming off Luz's helmet.) "All I need to complete the outfit is a wind sword." Luz said
"What's a wind sword?" Amity asked
"It's where I get a sword handle and then I just swing this around and bend air out like a blade." (Raises a sword handle, swishing it around like a sword.) "Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh." Luz said
(Unconvincingly.) "Yeah ... nice." Amity said
Luz begins to fall over. Amity tries to stop her from falling, but Luz and the armor fall to the floor with a loud noise, causing Amity and Eda to cover their ears.
"I'll just stick to what I got." Luz said
Cut to Willow holding a guan dao. She swings it to one side, swings it over her head and spins it in a circle. The weapon flies up toward the ceiling and Willow puts her hands behind her back, innocently. Willow is next seen dragging an enormous, metal club across the floor. She groans as she tries to lift it, but loses her grip and falls. Willow is next seen holding two swords. She marches and chops downward with them. Willow is next seen spinning a chain over her head, but she wraps the chain around herself and falls over. Willow is seen running, carrying a very wobbly spear. Cut to a close-up
shot of Willow standing up into the frame inspecting a sai, before using it as a toothpick. At that moment, something to her left gets her attention. Willow turns to look as the camera pans round behind her. Willow sees a sword rack on the wall, and a particular sword framed and positioned above the others. Cut to a close-up as the camera pans rights, showing all the details of the hilt and scabbard.
(Close-up.) "Ooh!" (Walks to the sword. Side-view of Willow inspecting the sword.) "That's what I'm talking about." Willow said
"You have a good eye." (Aerial view of Willow as the shopkeeper approaches.) "That's an original from Piandao," (Luz, Amity, Gus, Eda, Camila and Boscha approach.) "the greatest swords master and sword maker in Fire Nation history." (Close-up.) "He lives in the big castle up the road from here." the weapons store shopkeeper said (Walks away.)
(Side-view of group.) "That's it! That's what you needed all along, Willow." Luz said
"A sword?" Willow asked
"Not the sword, a master." (Willow takes the sword from the rack.) "We've all had masters to help us get better. You should see if you can study with Piandao." Amity said
(Frontal view of Willow with Gus behind her.) "That's a great idea. I could've never gotten to where I am without Master Pakku. Everyone needs a teacher." Gus said
(Side-view of group.) "I learned from badgermoles. They don't talk, but they're still good teachers." Boscha said
(Close-up. Pulling out the blade, inspecting it.) "It would be nice to be a master sword fighter. All right, I'll talk to him." Willow said
"I should come with you, just in case something goes wrong." Camila said
The scene cuts to a shot of the top of the bars of Kaldo's cell. A ray of sunlight shines through a small window. It goes to an overhead shot of Kaldo lying on his back on a straw mat in the corner, hands behind his head. Cut to a close-up side-view of his masked face. The camera suddenly zooms in as his eyes open wider. Cut to a frontal view as Kaldo begins to do a series of sit ups, grunting as he does so. The scene cuts to a shot of Piandao's castle, located on top of a large bluff. It goes down to a side-view of Willow and Camila at the front gates. Cut closer behind Willow as she grabs a knocker and taps it against the large door a few times. They wait a moment and while
looking around, but there is no answer. Willow knocks the door and waits again. Still receiving no answer, Willow becomes frustrated and grabs both knockers, banging them loudly and frantically. The right door is opened by the butler, Pat, frightening Willow and Camila.
(A little annoyed.) "Can I help you?" Pat asked
The scene cuts to a close-up of Willow and Camila still looking frightened. Willow quickly composes herself and assumes a more mannered persona.
"I've come to train with the master." Willow asked
(Side-view of all three.) "You should know The Master turns almost everyone away." (Holds his hand out in front of Willow.) "What did you bring him to prove your worth?" Pat asked
(Frontal view.) "Well, uhh …" Willow stuttered (Feels around, patting her clothes for something to offer as Camila did the same to help.)
(Frontal view.) "Right …" (Shakes head sadly.) "Let's get this over with." Pat said
Pat gestures for Willow and Camila to enter. Willow and Camila step through the gate and Pat closes the door. The scene cuts to an overhead shot of the castle courtyard as Willow, Camila and Pat walk toward the main structure of the castle. The camera tilts up to the tallest tower. It cuts to a large room with a red carpet and tall windows, giving a view of the valley. Rows of lit candles are placed on both sides of the windows. Piandao sits at a small table in front of the windows, his back to the camera. He has dark skin and wears a black cheongsam. Cut to a close-up of Piandao's hand holding a calligraphy brush and dipping it into a tray of ink, carefully holding his sleeve with the other hand. His hands move off screen and Willow, Camila and Pat are seen in the background. The camera zooms in on Willow as she steps forward.
"Master, my name is Willow, and I wish to be instructed in the way of the sword." Willow said
The scene cuts to a shot of Piandao, his back still toward Willow. His sword is placed next to the table.
"Willow. That's an unusual name." Piandao said
(Frontal view. Nervously.) "Oh, uh, really, uh where I come from, the Fire Nation colonies, it's a pretty normal name... for Fire Nation colonials." Willow said
(Side-view. Writing calligraphy on a piece of parchment.) "Let me guess. You've come hundreds of miles from your little village where you're the best swordswoman in town. And you think you deserve to learn from the master." Piandao said
(Frontal view.) "Well, actually, she's been all over the world." Camila said
(Side-view of his arm and hand as he continues to write. Knowingly.) "Yep, here we go." Piandao said
(Frontal view.) "And I know one thing for sure, (Gets down on her knees and hangs her head.) "I have a lot to learn." Willow said
(Shot from behind. Glancing back.) "You're not doing a very good job of selling yourself." Piandao said
(Side-view of room.) "I know. Your butler told me that when I met you, I would have to prove my worth." (Close-up.) "But the truth is... I don't know if I am worthy." Willow said
(Whispers to Pat.) "It's not often I see her this down." Camila whispered
(Close-up side-view.) "Hm, I see." (Smiles and turns his head. Cut to his hand picking up his sword.) "Well, then," (Close-up of Willow.) "let's find out together how worthy you are." Piandao said
Willow looks up as Piandao's shadow passes over her. Cut to a shot of the red carpet the end of Piandao's sword's scabbard strikes the floor. The camera quickly zooms out to a shot of Piandao standing before Willow, sword firmly planted before her. Cut to a close-up of Piandao.
"I will train you." Piandao said
Close-up of Willow as a huge smile spreads across her face. The camera switches to Willow, Camila and Piandao standing in a sword fighting ring in front of the building they were in earlier. Willow is wearing an almost identical outfit to Piandao's.
(Frontal view.) "The first thing you must learn is that your weapon is an extension of yourself." (Cut further away as he unsheathes his sword and begins performing a sword form.) "You must think of it as another part of your own body." Piandao said
(Close-up.) "Like a second head." Willow said
(Frontal view.) "Well, more like an extra-long, really sharp arm." (Side-view of both. Continuing his demonstration.) "The sword is a simple tool, but in the hands of a master it becomes" (Close-up.) "the most versatile of weapons," (Frontal view from below. Sheathes his sword and assumes a stance.) "and just as the imagination is limitless," (Close-up of Willow smiling in amazement.) "So too are the possibilities of the sword." Piandao said
Willow nods his head in understanding. Cut to Luz, Amity, Gus, Eda, Boscha, Appa, and King in the countryside. Appa is sleeping under the makeshift roof.
"What should we do today ?" Luz asked
Cut to an overhead shot of Luz, Amity, Gus, Eda and Boscha lying on their backs in a circle. King runs up to them and lies down next to Gus.
"I'm tapped out. I already picked my toes, twice." Boscha said
"Twice?" Eda asked
"The first time was for cleaning, but the second time's just for the" (Wiggles her toes.) "sweet picking sensation!" Boscha said
"Willow's been in charge of the schedule. I'm not sure what we should be doing." Amity said
(Frontal view of Luz with Boscha behind her. Picking her nose.) "Plus, it's so hot today." Boscha said
(Attempting to joke.) "How hot is it?" Luz asked
"I dunno. Really hot?" Boscha asked
(Camera pans across to show Gus.) "I-It's so hot, it's so hot ... King is shedding like Appa." (Pets King and flicks tufts of fur from his fingers.) "Huh, huh ?" Gus asked
Luz scratches her head and Gus' joke receives no laughs, leaving him disappointed. It goes back to the overhead shot.
"I guess the jokes don't run in the family." Luz said
"It skips a generation." Gus said (Laying back down.)
Cut back to a view of the countryside.
"I know that feeling." Amity said
Appa grunts in response. The scene cuts to a shot of Kaldo hanging upside down and doing crunches, panting with effort. It switches to a shot of his feet as he hangs from the overhead bars. Cut to and zoom out from a wide shot of Kaldo doing the upside down crunches in his cell. The scene shifts to Piandao, Willow and Camila standing in front of a table inside the building. On the table is calligraphy stationery.
"The warrior practices a variety of arts to keep their mind sharp and fluid." (Flattens out a piece of paper on the table.) "The first you will learn is calligraphy." (Cut to his hands as Piandao delicately hands a brush to Willow, who takes it, messing the bristles up with her thumb.) "Write your name." Piandao said
(Close-up. Skeptical.) "Writing my name will make me a better swordswoman?" Willow asked
(Takes the brush and positions it correctly in Willow's hand. Cut to a wide shot of both.) "When you write your name, you stamp the paper with your identity. You must learn to use your sword to stamp your identity on a battlefield." (Willow holds her sleeve back. Cut to close-up of the ink as Willow dips the brush into it. Cut to a frontal view of Willow readying herself to paint as Piandao looks on.) "Remember, you cannot take back a stroke of the brush, or a stroke of the sword." Piandao said
Willow's hand quivers and she sweats nervously, the brush barely an inch above the paper. She scratches her head and places the tip of the brush on her chin, thinking hard about what to do.
(Close-up as she moves forward.) "You are getting ink on your face." Camila said
(Frontal view of both.) "I am?" (Looks at the brush.) "I am! So this is about putting my identity on the page, right?" Willow asked
Piandao nods. It cuts to a close-up of Willow. She smiles and the camera zooms out as she proceeds to brush the ink over her face which confuses Camila. The camera tilts down as Willow presses her face onto the paper and rolls her head around. Cut behind Willow as she picks up the paper and shows it to Piandao, smiling cheerfully. On the paper is a large inkblot which vaguely resembles a face. Piandao simply closed his eyes in response as Camila pinched the bridge of her nose in annoyance.
The scene cuts to a shot of the main building. The camera tilts down to show Willow and Pat facing off in the sword fighting ring, both wearing training equipment and holding wooden swords. Piandao and Camila sit at the top of the steps leading to the building, watching. Close-up of Pat as he wipes his nose as he waits for Willow to make a move. Cut to Willow as she lunges at Pat and thrusts her sword. Cut to a side-view as Pat effortlessly parries the attack and knocks the sword from Willow's hands. Willow runs away in fright and Pat chases after, whacking her in the rear with the wooden sword.
The scene cuts to a shot of the sky. The camera tilts down to a blindfolded Willow being guided through the countryside by Piandao.
"Landscape painting teaches a warrior to hold the lay of the land in their mind." Piandao said
Side-view. Piandao stops Willow, turns her to face left, and pulls off the blindfold.
"In battle, you only have an instant to take everything in." Piandao said
Cut to a close-up of Willow rubbing her eyes. The camera rotates around to her front as her eyes grow wide and she smiles with excitement and amazement. It cuts to a shot of Willow and Piandao, their backs to the camera, standing before a majestic view of a mighty river flowing into a series of waterfalls that drop into a canyon. Cut back to Willow. Piandao grabs her head and turns her away, making her sit in front of a table with a piece of paper, paint, and paint brushes.
"Now, paint it." Piandao said
Frontal view of Willow, who gasps in disbelief. Side-view as she turns to look at the waterfall, but Piandao turns her head back.
"And no peeking." Piandao said
Piandao walks away as Willow takes a brush and begins to paint the intricate view. Cut to a wide shot of the landscape. The camera pans right, toward Piandao and Willow. Fade to a shot of Piandao's back with his sword in his hands behind his back. The camera tilts up to his front, his eyes closed in silent meditation.
"I'm finished!" Willow said
Piandao opens his eyes and looks at Willow. Cut to a shot of Willow presenting a very childish and colorful drawing of the landscape, which bears little resemblance, including a rainbow and a sun with a smiling face.
(Frontal view.) "You added a rainbow." Piandao said
(Frontal view. Worried.) "Is that okay?" Willow asked
Close-up view as Piandao sighs and shakes his head. The scene cuts to the main building. The camera tilts down to Willow and Pat in the sword fighting ring with the training gear. Willow thrusts forward and she and Pat begin their practice fight. Willow fares much better than before. Frontal view as she grunts as she parries a strike and attempts to swing her wooden sword down, but is distracted.
(Off-screen.) "Willow." Piandao said
Cut to and zooms out to show the fighting ring with Piandao and Camila still sitting above. Willow looks over to Piandao, giving Pat the opportunity to circle behind her and kick her in the back, causing a slightly painful fall to the ground. Cut to Willow looking up at Piandao.
(Close-up.) "Concentrate on what you're doing." Piandao said
Cut back to Willow, who frowns and drops her head, giving Piandao a half-hearted thumbs up. Cut to a wide shot of Piandao's castle. The camera tilts down to Willow, Camila and Piandao walking to the top of a stairway leading down to an empty, tiled area. A small statue of a lion turtle comes into the foreground.
"Rock gardening teaches the warrior to manipulate their surroundings and use them to their advantage." Piandao said
The scene cuts to a close-up of Willow. She places a hand on her chin and thinks carefully.
"Hm, manipulate them to my advantage ... oh!" Willow said
Cut to a wide-view of the tiled area below. Piandao and Camila watch as Willow runs down the steps. Cut to a shot of Piandao and Camila. A look of worry comes over them and the camera quickly zooms out to show Willow rolling a huge stone across the ground. Willow groans at the strain of it. Cut to a shot of a sheet of moss lying on a rock. Willow appears from behind and examines its texture before taking it and running back to the other side of the area. Willow throws the moss on the huge stone and lays down on it, sighing in relaxation. The camera quickly zooms out to a shot of Willow lying on the easy chair she made from rocks and moss, expressing his content. Cut to a shot of Pat walking up from behind Piandao and Camila. Pat suddenly gasps in shock. It cuts to a shot of stones scattered all over the tiled floor, creating a mess. Willow waves at Pat.
"Hey, would you mind grabbing a cold drink for me ?" Willow asked
Cut back to Camila, Pat and Piandao. Pat gasps and turns to Piandao.
"Oh Willow." Camila said (facepalms herself from what Willow did.)
"I'll take a slice of lemon in mine, please." Piandao said
Pat groans in resignation, hangs his head, and walks off to fetch the drinks. Cut to Willow and Pat dueling in the sword fighting ring again, Piandao and Camila sitting in the foreground. Willow and Pat thrust and parry a few strikes. Willow swings her sword in a circle and tries to hit Pat's leg, but Pat pulls his leg up and he avoids the attack. Cut to a close-up of the two from behind Willow. The scene goes into slow motion as Pat swings his sword and Willow parries it. Willow returns the strike and is also parried. The camera cuts to behind Pat as Willow continues her offense with four quick thrusts. Pat blocks all the attacks and tries to attack Willow. He misses, and Willow uses this opportunity to slip the blade of her wooden sword under Pat's hand and fling the wooden sword from it. Pat is shocked and raises his hands in defeat as Willow thrusts her sword forward and places the blade on the side of Pat's neck, ending the duel. Willow steps away from Pat, puts her hands together and bows to Piandao, while Pat frowns angrily at her. It cuts to a shot of Piandao sipping a drink from a cup with a slice of lemon stuck on it.
The scene cuts to a shot of the outside of the Fire Nation prison and zooms in. Cut to the inside of Kaldo's cell and zoom in on Kaldo doing push-ups on his knuckles, clapping his hands together at the apex of each push. Cut to a shot of Warden Poon sitting and eating a piece of bread. He hears the clapping and goes to investigate. Cut to Kaldo continuing to do push-ups. Cut to Warden Poon walking toward the door to Kaldo's cell. Cut to a shot from inside the cell of him looking in through the barred window in the door.
"What's going on in there?" Warden Poon asked
Cut to a shot of Kaldo sitting against the wall and lazily clapping his hands side to side with a delirious expression. Cut back to Warden Poon.
"Crazy old man." Warden Poon said
Warden Poon leaves. Cut back to Kaldo. He claps a few more times and smiles when he is sure the warden is gone, ceasing his clapping and pushing back the stray hair hanging over his face. The scene cuts to a far shot of the Avatar group's campsite near the river.
"So where are we going next ?" (Cut to a shot of Luz, Amity, Gus and Eda sitting around a map of the Fire Nation. Pointing to the map.) "We're starting from here …" Eda started
(Pointing at a different spot.) "No, we're over on this island." Luz said
(Pointing at the opposite spot of Luz.) "I think we're on this island." Amity said
(Lying down.) "You noodle-brains don't know what you're doing. I miss Willow." Boscha said
"Ooh, I got one, if you miss her so much, why don't you marry her?" Gus asked
Gus yelps from Boscha bending a small piller under him and sends him skyward, getting him stuck in the makeshift roof. The camera quickly zooms out and a groan is heard in the background. Boscha rolls over on her side, away from the others. A winged insect buzzes in front of Luz, who simply blows it away with a quick blast of wind from her breath as Amity fixes her hair from it. Cut to a shot of the sword fighting ring in front of the main building at Piandao's castle. The camera tilts down to Willow, Camila and Piandao sitting on the ground.
"You've had a good first day of training." Piandao said
(Frontal view.) "I have ? But I thought I messed up every single thing we worked on!" Willow said
"I was worried you did." Camila said (placing a hand on Willow's shoulder.)
(Frontal view of feet. Camera pans up to his face.) "You messed things up in a very special way. You are ready for a real sword." Piandao said
(Frontal view. Excited.) "Are you giving me one of yours ?" Willow asked
(Frontal view.) "No." Piandao said
Frontal view of Willow, who groans disappointedly and slumps down.
(Frontal view. Camera zooms in on his face.) "Your sword must be an extension of yourself. So tomorrow, you will make your own sword." Piandao said
Cut to and zoom in on Willow. She immediately perks up and grins. Cut to a shot of a rack of swords. Weapons are hung all about the room. The camera pans left to Willow, Camila and Piandao standing at a table. On the table are several bricks of steel.
"Choosing the correct material is the most important step in crafting a sword." (Close-up and zooms out showing the steel in front of her.) "You must trust your steel with your life. Choose carefully." Piandao said
Willow takes two bricks and weighs them in each hand. Willow sets them down and takes another brick. She sniffs it and bites the brick to test its quality. Cut to a side-view as Willow puts the brick down and puts a hand to his chin thoughtfully. An idea comes to her mind and she turns to Piandao.
"Master," (Side-view of Willow looking at Piandao.) "would it be possible for me to leave and bring back a special material for my sword?" Willow asked
"Special material?" Camila asked
(Side-view of Piandao looking at Willow.) "I wouldn't have it any other way." Piandao said
Piandao smiles at Willow. Cut to Luz, Amity, Gus, Eda, Boscha, King and Appa all asleep and sitting around the map as they were before. Boscha suddenly sits up.
(Excitedly.) "Willow's coming!" Boscha said
Luz, Amity, Gus and Eda wake up, gasping and smiling excitedly. Cut to a shot of Willow and Camila walking up to the top of the hill.
"Hey, guys. What are you doing ?" Willow asked
Luz, Amity, Gus, Eda and Boscha all jump at Willow and Camila giving them a group hug.
"Willow!" Luz said
"You're back!" Boscha said
(Close-up of Willow and Amity with Gus in the foreground.) "We missed you so much!" Amity said
(Close-up as he steps back slightly.) "Say something funny!" Gus said
(Close-up. Confused.) "Funny how ?" Willow asked
Cut to overhead view as Luz, Amity, Gus and Eda laugh heartily. Boscha smiles and crosses her arms.
(Side-view of Willow and Camila with Boscha in the foreground. To Boscha.) "What's their deal ?" Willow asked
(Nonchalantly.) "I don't know. They missed you or something. I didn't care." Boscha said (Turns away, blushing and smiling.)
(Overhead side-view of group.) "Thanks. That warms my heart. Anyway, I need some help." Willow said
Cut to a shot of the gang running over to the edge of the crater created the night before. Cut to a shot of the group, their backs to the camera, as they stare at the meteorite at the bottom of the crater.
The camera zooms in on the meteorite before cutting to an overhead shot of Kaldo sitting in his cell, looking through the bars in the ceiling. Cut to a close-up of Kaldo's eyes. They are closed for a brief moment before opening. Kaldo leans forward and puts his head on the floor. The camera cuts to a shot of Kaldo's legs rising into the air and tilts down as Kaldo stands on his hands. Close-up of Kaldo sweating heavily, as he begins to perform hand-stand push-ups.
The camera cuts to outside the cell as it zooms out. The scene cuts to a shot of Luz, Amity, Gus, Eda and Camila pushing the meteorite up the slope to Piandao's castle. Willow and Boscha are behind the meteorite, pushing it forward with their earthbending. Fade to an overhead shot of the group and the meteorite at the large doors. Willow runs to the doors. Cut to behind Willow as she bangs both knockers frantically. Piandao opens one of the doors almost immediately and steps out.
"Who's this ?" Piandao asked
(Overhead view from behind Piandao.) "Oh, these are my friends. Just other good Fire Nation folks." (They bow to Piandao. Cut to Piandao, who bows back. The camera zooms out to show the meteorite and Willow.) "Do you think we can make a sword out of a meteorite ?" Willow asked
Piandao lays a hand on the meteorite and examines it.
(Close-up.) "We'll make a sword unlike any other in the world." Piandao said
Cut to a shot of a fiery forge. The camera zooms out and turns left to Willow in a tank top and shoveling coal into it, before switching to Piandao and Pat, who is carrying a large sledge hammer. The camera cuts and tilts up to a shot of Willow holding a chisel against the meteorite while Pat hammers it, Piandao watching in the back. Cut to a shot of Willow tapping the chisel with a smaller hammer. A piece of the meteorite breaks off and falls to the floor. Willow takes a moment to wipe the sweat from her brow. Cut to a shot of a wooden bucket filled with the meteorite fragments. Pat takes the bucket and the camera follows him as he brings it over to the forge. Willow is seen working the bellows diligently. The camera zooms in as Luz, Amity, Gus, Eda and Camila peer in at Willow from around the corner. Fade to a shot of the bucket sitting in the fires of the forge. Cut to a shot of Willow holding her legs to her chest, asleep. She wakes up and looks behind her at the forge. She stands up and resumes shoveling in coal. The camera zooms out to show Piandao observing Willow from outside. Fade to a shot of the bucket being pulled from the forge by Willow with iron tongs. She carefully positions the liquid space metal over a mold of a blade and pours it in. Cut to a shot of the red hot
metal being hammered against a stone. Cut to Piandao as he raises the hot blade and looks carefully at it. An excited Willow can be seen behind him. Cut to a shot from inside a trough of water as Piandao dips the blade in. The blade makes the water bubble and boil as it hisses and cools, turning black.
Fade to a shot of the outside of the main building, the camera tilting down to the open doors. Cut to a shot of the inside. Willow is seated in front of Piandao. Luz, Amity, Gus, Eda, Camila and Boscha sit behind Willow while Pat stands behind Piandao, holding Willow's sword.
"Willow, when you first arrived, you were so unsure. You even seemed down on yourself." (Frontal view of Piandao as the camera pans across to the right revealing Pat.) "But I saw something in you right away." (Side-view of Sokka.) "I saw a heart as strong as a lion turtle, and twice as big." (Side-view of the room.) "And as we trained, it wasn't your skills that impressed me." (Pat kneels to Piandao and gives him the sword. Frontal view of Piandao as he turns back to face the camera.) "No, it certainly wasn't your skills." (Brief close-up of Willow, who looks down in shame, before cutting back to a close-up of Piandao.) "You showed something beyond that." (Unsheathes the sword, showing its black blade. Cut to a side-view of Piandao as the camera zooms out and follows the blade as he strikes out to the side.) "Creativity, versatility," (Frontal view of Willow with the sword in the foreground.) "intelligence …" (Willow looks down.) "These are the traits that define a great swordsman." (Side-view of Piandao as he sheathes the sword.) "And these are the traits that define you." (Kneels and presents the sword to Willow. Cut to a frontal view of Willow, from Piandao's perspective, who takes it.) "You told me you didn't know if you were worthy," (Close-up shot as he stands up.) "But I believe that you are more worthy than any man I have ever trained, you're the first woman to become a swordswoman." Piandao said
Cut to a shot of the sword in Willow's hands. The camera tilts up to Willow as she lowers her head in shame.
"I'm sorry, Master. You're wrong." (Close-up of Piandao.) "I am not worthy." (Side-view of Willow.) "I'm not who you think I am. I'm not from the Fire Nation. I'm from Omashu who grew up in the Southern Water Tribe." (Cut to a side-view of Luz, Amity, Gus, Eda, Camila and Boscha who all gawk at Willow with shock and disbelief. Close-up side-view of Piandao and Willow.) "I lied so that I could learn swordsmanship from you. I'm sorry." Willow said (Offering her sword back.)
(Close-up.) "I'm sorry, too." Piandao said
Piandao quickly turns back around and swings his sword at Willow. Cut to Willow who stands and avoids the attack. Side-view of Willow who, after unsheathing her sword, blocks a thrust from Piandao. Side-view of Luz, Amity, Gus, Eda, Camila and Boscha who get up and go to help Willow. Cut to a frontal view of the six that quickly zooms out to show Willow who raises her hand to stop them.
"No, this is my fight, alone." Willow said
Cut to a close-up of Piandao before cutting to Kaldo's cell. Warden Poon enters, carrying a tray of food. The camera pans right to a close-up of Kaldo.
"You used to be the pride of the Fire Nation. Our top general, the Dragon of the West. Now, look at you." (Drops the food to the floor. Cut to an aerial shot of the floor as the tray's contents go everywhere. Kaldo grabs a green fruit from behind the bars. Cut to close-up of Kaldo on the ground as he moves the fruit to his mouth.) "Look what you've become." Warden Poon said
Kaldo watches the warden leave and stands up. Cut to a frontal view as he puts the fruit to his mouth and holds it in his teeth as he begins to untie his belt. Close-up side-view as his shirt comes off and a thick, folded sheet that had been covering his belly falls to the floor. Cut to a shot of the sheet hitting the ground and the camera tilts up to reveal Kaldo's new, incredibly buff physique. Kaldo takes the fruit from his mouth, bites into it, and jumps up. Cut to a close-up shot above the cell bars as Kaldo grabs a bar above with one hand. Side-view of Kaldo who takes another bite of the fruit and begins doing one handed pull-ups. Cut to a zoom out shot on a side-view of Kaldo and his cell.
The scene cuts to a shot of Willow and Piandao squared off in the sword fighting ring. Luz, Amity, Gus, Eda, Camila, Boscha and Pat watch from the upper part of the main building. Cut to a zoom in shot on Willow, ready with her black sword. Cut to a shot of the tip of Piandao's sword pointed at the ground. The camera tilts up to him, his other hand raised and pointed. Panning side-view of the others who watch nervously.
Cut to a panning right close-up of Willow, before switching to a panning left close-up of Piandao. Piandao lunges forward and begins his attack. Frontal view of Piandao as Willow backs away. Cut to a side-view of the scene as Piandao strikes four times, each one parried by Willow. Cut behind Piandao as Willow attempts a strike of her own. Piandao moves his head out of the way and stabs at Willow, who sways back and avoids the attack, Piandao sweeps his sword at Willow's legs, but Willow jumps over it and lunges at Piandao, thrusting her sword forward. Side-view of Piandao who deflects Willow's blade and pushes him back. Cut to behind Willow as she is knocked back
several feet and slides over the ground. Frontal view of Willow as she flips herself backward and grabs a post of a small bridge to regain her balance. She quickly climbs onto the post and leaps to the other one just as Piandao thrusts his sword at her, the camera pans to the left to follow Willow. Piandao spins around and tries to slice Willow's foot. Cut to Willow's feet as she jumps away. Wide-shot of entrance to the bridge as Willow jumps to the other rail of the bridge. Piandao stabs at Willow again, but Willow jumps off the rail and rolls to the side. Piandao strikes again, but Willow rolls under the blade. Frontal view of Willow as she blocks Piandao's next strike. The camera pans to the left as Willow runs to the left and jumps on to the railing again. Cut to a view shot of the bridge as Willow leaps away to the end of the bridge, dodging as Piandao swings his sword at her.
"Excellent!" (Close-up.) "Using your superior agility against an older opponent ... smart." Piandao said
Piandao charges at Willow again. Close-up of Willow as she readies her sword. Shot from behind Willow as Piandao strikes at her and pushes her up a large stone stairway with the camera panning down to follow their movements. Cut to behind Piandao, titled up toward the stairs, as Willow blocks all of the attacks, but the force pushes her against the wall of the stairway. Cut to Willow as her back hits the wall and she deflects a thrust from Piandao upward, and ducks as the blade slices through the part of the wall above her shoulder. Cut to Piandao as he swings his sword around her head and body in two large circles. Frontal view of Willow as she barely dodges Piandao's blade, cartwheeling to the right as the camera pans with her. Camera pans back left as Willow spins back around, hops a foot off the ground and pushes off the wall with her legs, propelling herself forward, sword extended. Side-view as Piandao deflects the attack. Wide-view of the stairs as Willow rolls across the stair to the other wall, climbing to the top. Frontal view of the wall as Willow reaches the top.
"Good use of terrain ... fighting from the high ground." Piandao said
Willow swings at Piandao below her, who parries and swings at Willow. Piandao thrusts his sword at Willow, who pins the blade under her own blade, weighted down under her feet. Cut to Willow standing on the swords before switching back to Piandao, who tries to wrench his sword free. Cut to Piandao's feet as he steps forward and the camera pans up as he pushes his sword upward, throwing Willow off. View from behind Willow as she grunts, stumbling back into a tall stalk of bamboo. Cut to a shot of Luz, Amity, Gus, Eda, Camila and Boscha all wincing at the sight. Cut back to Willow as she looks up fearfully, strands of hair falling over her face. Frontal view of Piandao as he raises his sword and charges at Willow. Cut back to Willow as she ducks Piandao's attack that
slices through the bamboo just above his head. She turns to run off into the bamboo thicket. Frontal view of Willow as she runs away. Cut to a frontal shot of Willow running through the bamboo thicket, slicing through as many surrounding stalks of bamboo that she can. As Piandao chases after, the stalks all begin to fall. Close-up of Piandao skillfully cutting through the bamboo. Side-view of Willow as she runs through the bamboo and turns, grabbing a stalk and pulling it. She lets it go just as Piandao catches up. Cut to the stalk whipping around. Cut to a side-view of Piandao cutting through it with ease as Willow tries to attack from behind.
"Yes, use your surroundings." (Piandao deflects the attacks as Willow runs away. Willow grabs two stalks and pulls them back before releasing them. They whip around at Piandao, who slices through them.) "Make them fight for you!" Piandao said
Cut to a shot of Willow running out of the bamboo and back toward the sword fighting ring, screaming in terror and Piandao not far behind. The camera shifts to Willow's front. She is very frightened and takes a look behind, but Piandao has run off to the side and out of sight. Side-view of Willow who turns to look ahead only for Piandao to strike out in front of her, trying to make her run into it. However, Willow leans back. The scene goes into slow motion and the camera cuts to an overhead close-up of Willow sliding under the blade. The scene comes back to normal speed and cuts to a frontal view as Willow stands back up and stumbles forward, stabbing her sword into the ground to stop her fall. Cut behind Willow as she uses her momentum to swing her sword back around, flinging dirt and dust at Piandao. The scene goes into slow motion again and the camera cuts to a close-up of Piandao as the dirt hits him in the face, blinding him. The scene comes back to normal speed and cuts to a frontal shot of Piandao as he spins around and positions his sword behind his back to defend any sneak attacks. Cut to a close-up of Piandao, his eyes closed.
"Very resourceful." Piandao said
Piandao turns his head and listens for any sounds. Cut to a close-up of Willow and zooms out as she nervously raises her sword defensively. She slowly tries to sneak away, careful not to make any noises that would give away her location. Cut to a twig on the ground as Willow steps on it, snapping it. Close-up of Piandao who turns his head toward Willow when he hears it. Camera zooms out as he twirls his sword around into an offensive position and charges forward. Close-up of Willow who takes a step back as Piandao closes in. Side-view of the fight as Piandao strikes. Willow parries the attack. Cut behind Willow as Piandao catches Willow's blade with his own. He pushes Willow's sword around in two circles and flings Willow's sword out of her hands. Side-view of the
fight as Sokka watches her sword fly into the air and stab into the ground several feet away.
Cut to a side-view of Willow looking worried as Piandao moves to attack. The scene goes into slow motion and cuts to a side-view of the two as Piandao swings his sword in a large, horizontal arc at Willow. Willow is not cut by the blade, but is instead hit in the stomach by Piandao's arms, knocking her on her back. Cut to Willow landing on the ground and she looks up fearfully. Cut to a frontal view of Piandao from the ground as Piandao turns and points his sword at Willow's head. Cut to Willow who leans back in fear. Frontal view of Luz, Amity, Gus, Eda, Camila and Boscha as they all jump from the building to the ground and run toward Willow and Piandao. Cut to a close-up of Piandao. The camera zooms out as he swings his sword away from Willow, halting Luz, Amity, Gus, Eda, Camila and Boscha.
"Excellent work, Willow." Piandao said
Cut to a shot of Willow squinting at Piandao curiously. Cut to a shot of Piandao with Luz, Amity, Gus, Eda, Camila and Boscha in the background. He raises his hand and the camera tilts up slightly as he signals to Pat. Cut to a frontal view of Pat as he flings the scabbard of Piandao's sword toward him. Frontal view of the still blinded Piandao as he turns and points his sword upward. Side-view as the scabbard flies right onto the blade.
"I think I'm a little old to be fighting the Avatar." Piandao said
Cut to a shot of Luz, Amity, Gus, Eda, Camila and Boscha in their bending stances. They come out of their stances and they all look at each other in surprise.
"How did you know ?" Luz asked
The scene cuts to a shot of Piandao and Willow. Willow stands back up as Pat walks on screen carrying a drink and a white cloth.
"Oh, I've been around a while. You pick things up." (Wipes the dirt off his face with the cloth.) "Of course, I knew from the beginning that Willow was Wrath's daughter." (Close-up of Willow.) "You might want to think of a better Fire Nation cover name." (Camera zooms out to show Piandao.) "Try 'Lee.' There's a million 'Lees'." Piandao said (Sips his drink.)
Cut to a frontal shot of Luz, Amity, Gus, Eda, Camila and Boscha with Pat and Piandao facing toward them, their backs to the camera.
"But why would you agree to train someone from the Earth Kingdom?" Camila asked
(Close-up.) "The way of the sword doesn't belong to any one nation." (Frontal shot of Piandao, Willow and Pat as the other six look on, their backs to the camera.) "Knowledge of the arts belongs to us all." (Gives his sword to Pat. Cut to Willow's sword as he pulls it out of the ground. Cut to a side-view of Piandao and Willow as Piandao gives the sword back to Willow.) "Willow, you must continue your training on your own." (Close-up.) "If you stay on this path, I know that one day" (Close-up.) "you will become an even greater master than I am." Piandao said
Cut to a shot of Luz, Amity, Gus, Willow, Eda, Camila and Boscha all smiling warmly. Cut back to Willow and Piandao as they bow to each other. The scene cuts to a wide shot of the group leaving Piandao's castle through the front gates. It cuts to a closer shot of the group from the front. Pat is running up to them from behind.
"Wait!" (Everyone turns to him. Side-view.) "The Master wanted you to have this, as something to remember him by." Pat said
Cut to a close-up of Pat giving a small, brown bag to Willow. Overhead view as they all bow as a farewell and Pat walks back to the castle. The camera zooms in as Willow opens the bag and pulls out a white lotus Pai Sho tile.
"It's a Pai Sho tile." Willow said
Cuts to a close-up of the tile in Willow's hands.
"The White Lotus. Huh." Eda said
"What does it mean?" Amity asked
(Cut to a close-up of Luz and Willow as Pat is seen in the background closing the doors. Luz and Willow look back and the camera zooms in on the doors, clearly showing a lotus design on the doors surrounding the Fire Nation symbol.) "I have no idea." (Overhead view. Willow reaches into her pocket.) "Ooh, that reminds me! Boscha, I thought you might like this" (Close-up view of Willow offering her a chunk of the meteorite.) "since you've probably never had a chance to bend space earth before." Willow said
(Taking the rock. Side-view.) "Sweet!" (Cut to a close-up of the space earth floating between Boshca's hands. She shapes it into a swirl, a star, and a splatter shaped similar to the Nickelodeon logo.) "Check this out." Boscha said
Cuts to a shot of the group as they walk off down the trail.
"You know, I don't think there's such a thing as 'space earth'. If it's from space, then it's not really 'earth'." Gus said
"Must you ruin everything ?" Willow asked
Cut to a wide, overhead shot of Piandao's castle and Team Avatar walking away.
"I can't believe I missed you." Gus said
Fade to white.
Fade to end credits.
