Chapter 3: Sweet Kwanzaa:

Ben's POV:

Black Panther and I arrived at the Cages'. "Wait, his family moved to Bellwood," I asked.

"They're actually visiting Power Man's Grandmother," says Fury, "she lives in Bellwood."

"It's easier than traveling all the way to New York," says Black Panther.

"Yeah, I gotta get back to my friend's party when this is over," I said.

Black Panther knocks on the door and Power Man enters. "Ben," says Power Man, "Black Panther? Come on in!"

. . .

We saw Power Man's family, including his parents, the scientists that made the formula that gave him his power. Luke Cage also now has a girlfriend named Jessica Jones.

"So, you're the kid Spider-Man's mentoring," says Jessica.

"You know Spider-Man," I asked.

"He introduced us," says Luke, "it was a whole thing with the Purple Man."

"Gather around," says Luke's Grandma, "as I tell you the story of Kwanzaa. American black separatist Maulana Karenga created Kwanzaa in 1966 during the aftermath of the Watts riots as a non-Christian, specifically African-American, holiday."

"Is that true," I asked.

"Yep," says Luke, "Karenga said his goal was to 'give black people an alternative to the existing holiday of Christmas and give black people an opportunity to celebrate themselves and their history, rather than simply imitate the practice of the dominant society'."

"I never realized how hard you guys had it," I said.

"Not many do," says Luke.

"Luke, we need Isiah Bradley's shield," says Black Panther.

"Awe man," says Luke, "I must've forgotten to give it back to him! I know it's around here somewhere."

. . .

"I didn't know Christmas was an all-white holiday... outside the snow," I said.

"It wasn't," says Luke, "but Karenga saw it as such."

"Next question," I said, "why did you have it in your grandma's house in Bellwood?"

"Poor planning," says Luke. We entered the room.

"Did you always have a giant Man-Ape shaped hole in that wall," I asked, hopefully.

"No," Luke answered, worriedly.

. . .

We then got out and saw Man-Ape, leaping away with the shield.

"We better go after him," says Luke.

"No, Luke Cage," says Black Panther, "you go back to your family. We will handle this!"

"Alright," says Luke.

"Let's catch that monkey," I said.

To Be Continued

In the next chapter, Ben and Black Panther look for Man-Ape.
