After the tournament had drawn to its natural conclusion, Goku went off on his own to find the 4-Star Dragon Ball after the Dragon Balls were reactivated from their one year slumber. However, during this hunt, he came into conflict with the Red Ribbon Army, a militia group who are also after the Dragon Balls for their own nefarious deeds - or in the case of Commander Red, to become taller. However, that story will remain the same; Ayote, after such a hard fought battle with Jackie, stayed at Kame House to take it easy. However, this leads to the next pressing issue of a certain old witch…

May 11, a day before an important event was to occur, an old lady, short enough to sit upon a crystal ball, is deep in meditation - or sleep, even - as she has a vision. Four warriors of impeccable strength, one of which she, thanks to Roshi, has a small but deep connection to. She opens her eyes as she thinks on this vision.

Old Lady: "Hmm… Strange. My visions rarely just tell me of stuff like this. But my vision tells me that a boy will come seeking knowledge of a Dragon Ball. And then there's a girl… A young girl who was raised by my own brother… She's a creature called a Saiyan…"

The old lady hops off her crystal ball and starts to read more into this strange detail. She sees two families, one a single mother, the other two parents. They launch their respective kids into outer space, and by some miracle, both end up on Earth. The young boy is raised by one of Roshi's deceased students, Gohan, while the girl was raised by Roshi. The old lady jumps back onto her crystal ball as she moves into her palace, opening a door to a bright light, entering it…

Within another majestic looking palace, a red skinned horned giant behind a mahogany desk is seen doing the mundane task of judging a soul and sending them to either Heaven or Hell. As he does this, a blue skinned oni dressed in staff attire approaches him.

Oni Staff: "King Yemma, sir!"

King Yemma: "What is it? I'm busy at the moment."

Oni Staff: "It's Fortuneteller Baba! She requests an audience with you."

King Yemma: "Hm? Fortuneteller Baba? Hmm… Fine. Send her in."

Not long after, the old lady on the crystal ball enters the chamber, greeting the giant cordially.

Baba: "King Yemma. It's good to see you. I'm sure you can guess what this is about…"

King Yemma: "Yes, you want to bring a soul back to the world of the living for a day. What soul will it be?"

Baba: "Well… This might be a special occasion. I need two very specific souls…"

King Yemma: "Two? For what reason?"

Baba: "For a little… test. One of such souls, I recognize, is a bit greyer than most of its kind."

King Yemma leans in, raising an eyebrow at what exactly Baba was asking. The old lady smiles before getting straight to the point, causing Yemma's eyes to widen.

Underneath the clouds, in a land where wicked souls are sent, a woman in distinct armor is seen, a familiar monkey tail swaying as she seems to be quite relaxed. That is until she hears someone, another Oni Staff worker, approach her.

Woman: "Hm?"

Oni Staff: "Excuse me. You have been summoned by King Yemma."

Woman: "Why me specifically?"

Oni Staff: "Um… I'm told to simply escort you to his office so he can explain. He said this might be your chance to redeem your soul to go to Heaven."

Woman: "Heaven sounds nice and all, but I'm content anywhere as long as it's not under Frieza's rule."

The woman then sees an older lady on a crystal ball approach, getting impatient at waiting to summon a stubborn soul.

Baba: "Then… Does the name 'Ayote' mean anything to you?"

The woman in armor pauses as she heard the name… A name she hadn't heard in years…

May 12, the next day, Ayote is seen resting on the beach of Kame House in her beach dress with her sunhat beside her. After the tournament had ended, Goku went on his own to find his Dragon Ball after it and the others split to various parts of the world. She did hear about her friend's battle against the Red Ribbon Army, even contemplating helping out, but she felt Goku had it under control. But as she rested, she soon sees her friends coming to the island, much to her happiness. Goku hops off the Flying Nimbus and is the first to greet her as the others catch up.

Ayote: "Goku! You're back! …Did you get stronger while you were away?"

Goku: "Yeah! I can't wait to tell you the crazy adventure me and my friends went on, Ayote! You should've been there!"

Ayote: "I debated it, but it was technically your fight. Besides, I've already shown that I can breeze through most fights easy. With both of us, I don't think it would've been as fun."

Goku: "Oh. Yeah, I think I get it."

The others soon arrive with Ayote greeting them all before they go inside.

As Bulma tries to fix the Dragon Radar, Goku tells of his battle against the Red Ribbon Army, all that went down in the span of four days. Ayote was… shocked that so much happened in such a short time span.

Ayote: "I swear, this world keeps surprising me… Androids, robots, and some military leader who only wanted to get taller? And here I thought a pig with the power to turn into literally anything and a girl carrying literal hammerspace in capsule form was stretching my disbelief…"

Oolong: "Hey, what a cat who can turn into anything!?"

Ayote: "Which one was abusing his power just to get a girl!?"

Oolong shuts up after that, shuffling away awkwardly and silently as Puar just laughs. Ayote then smiles as she smiles at Goku.

Ayote: "But it does sound like you've seen a lot, Goku. But with only one Dragon Ball left, I say we all lend a hand."

Krillin: "Wait. Does that mean…?"

Ayote: "Yep. I've stayed out of the fight long enough. Even if it's a few minutes or a few days, I'm joining the rest of this adventure."

Ayote says as she slams her fist into her palm with a confident smile. But as she said this, Bulma finishes fixing the radar, only to find the Dragon Ball out of the radar's range.

Bulma: "Well, as much as I enjoy the enthusiasm, the last Dragon Ball may not be so easy to find. The Dragon Radar's fixed, but it's not picking up anything but what we have already."

Goku: "Oh no! How do we find the last Dragon Ball now?"

Roshi: "...Oh boy… It's come to this then."

Everyone turns to Master Roshi as he has… an uncertain expression.

Ayote: "Master Roshi?"

Roshi: "I may know a way to find the last Dragon Ball… In truth, I was hoping to avoid this as long as I could, but… I see no other way now… Goku. You'll need to seek an old hag by the name of Fortuneteller Baba."

Goku: "Baba? Who's that?"

Roshi: "An old crone who uses her mystical arts to give fortunes to those that meet her. And… she is my older sister, regrettably…"

The room goes quiet before everyone shouts a collective 'WHAT!?', even Ayote joining in.

Ayote: "You had a sister the entire time!?"

Bulma: "You didn't know!?"

Ayote: "No, this is the first time I'm hearing about it!"

Roshi: "Look, it's not like I enjoy keeping this stuff from you, Ayote! …I just don't get along well with her is all. She and I have two completely different mindsets on life is all. She finds martial arts a waste of time and fighting only for meatheads, while I find her mystical arts to be nothing more than a bunch of bologna."

Ayote: "Well, still… She is considered family to me and you know how I feel about family…"

Roshi: "...You're right. I'm sorry, Ayote. But even so, I cannot join you; she wouldn't enjoy my presence there."

Ayote was a bit disappointed about that, but she decided it best not to press the issue. Bulma also decides not to join as she needed to head home anyway, leaving it up to Goku, Ayote, Yamcha, Puar, and Krillin to find Fortuneteller Baba and find the last Dragon Ball.

Things play out the same as the original as the group go on some minor misadventures on the way to find Fortuneteller Baba's Palace, including picking up Upa at Goku's request. But soon, the group arrive to the witch's home where they are greeted by the old hag herself after dealing with a last group of 'paying customers'.

Baba: "Greetings, young travelers. What can Fortuneteller Baba do for you?"

Goku was about to approach her but Ayote stops him before doing so herself. The lass bows respectfully to Baba.

Ayote: "Um… Hello, Fortuneteller Baba. My name is Ayote… I'm Roshi's adoptive granddaughter."

Baba: "Are you now? Hah! You certainly hit the bottom of the barrel then, kiddo. That old stick in the mud is hardly the man he used to be!"

Baba laughs in hysterics at insulting her brother, though Ayote… doesn't disagree admittedly. But then Baba gives a soft smile to her great niece.

Baba: "However, I have seen through my crystal ball that you've been a good influence on Roshi. However, I cannot be swayed from my business. Sorry, kid."

Ayote: "Oh no no. I was just happy to meet another of my family. That's all. Had I known about you sooner, Miss Baba, I'd come visit sooner."

Baba was certainly stunned by this sincerity. She did some thinking before shrugging.

Baba: "Well, state your reasons for being here and let's get down to business."

Ayote: "O-Oh, right… We're looking for something called a Dragon Ball. Our usual method of finding them has failed us this time so we figured you'd be able to help us out."

Baba: "But of course. But it will cost you… 1,000,000 zeni."

Everyone was left dumbfounded by the ludicrous pricing. Even if Ayote kept half her prize money, she wouldn't have enough to pay off Baba. But almost like she expected that to be the case, Baba offers an alternative to money - a fight against five of her strongest warriors. The first fight with Fangs the Vampire goes about how it does, with Krillin losing and Upa and Puar needing to pick up the slack. Yamcha fights See-Through the Invisible Man and struggles, obviously because he can't see him. But Ayote could through ki sense.

Ayote: "Behind you, Yamcha!"

Yamcha immediately elbows someone behind him, seemingly breaking their nose as he sees blood suddenly appear.

Baba: "Hey! No fair!"

Ayote: "Neither is having an invisible enemy, but you don't see us complaining."

This shuts Baba up fast as Yamcha uses the nosebleed to counter and fight back against See-Through, winning the fight. Still confident that her group will win, Baba summons Bandages the Mummy, who triumphs over Yamcha. But against Goku, it was a foregone conclusion. Baba is taken aback by the might these warriors, and with Ayote in the back, Spike the Devilman might as well not exist. Thankfully, she saw this possibility. A mysterious old man walks out, wearing a fox mask and having a halo over his head, catching everyone's attention.

Old Man: "Excuse me. But may I request we take our fight outside?"

Baba: "But of course. I don't see why not?"

Once outside, Goku and the mysterious warrior before him get into a battle stance. Ayote, who had not been too interested in the fights so far outside of See-Through, watched this fight with intrigue. Unlike the other three, this mysterious warrior was far different; his aura radiated calmness and wisdom. And the fight that followed showed that more clearly as this man was able to exchange blows with Goku so easily. He even knew the Kamehameha, which threw both her and Goku for a loop. But after Goku counters with his own, the boy starts to celebrate. That is until his tail is grabbed. This puts Goku on the backfoot; Ayote was about to leap in to help, but a figure in the shadows - in the entrance of the palace - catches her attention. Compared to the masked man holding Goku, the energy she felt from this figure was not only strong… but familiar. She then sees Goku's tail get ripped off after he was slammed enough times, causing her to instinctually wrap her tail around her waist to protect it. But after this, the man removes his mask, revealing himself as Grandpa Gohan.

Goku: "G-Grandpa…!?"

Gohan: "Hey, Goku. It's been a long time, hasn't it?"

A tearful reunion is seen as Goku embraces his late grandpa, happy to see him after so long. But then Baba steps in…

Baba: "Sorry to interrupt the family reunion. But there is one final opponent left. And this one… is the strongest of all."

Goku: "Bring it on. I can take 'em."

Goku got ready, but Gohan places a hand on his shoulder, shaking his head.

Gohan: "No, Goku. I'm afraid this next opponent… is far too much for even you."

Goku looked at Gohan, but then the voice from the shadows spoke up. The voice was of an adult woman it seemed.

Voice: "Let him fight me, old man. Saiyans only learn things the hard way if they're stubborn enough."

Ayote: "...W-Wait… How does she know…?"

The figure walks out of the shadows, the sunlight bathing the woman as a pair of white armored boots were seen first, black leggings, covered mostly by a long blue skirt. Chest armor is seen with a shoulder pads… similar armor to Ayote's own which she hadn't worn in years. Around her waist was a brown monkey tail. Her arms were covered in the same black material as her legs as well as a pair of gloves. The most notable part of her were the scars on her face and across her neck, as well as the same black hair as Ayote. The Saiyan herself had her eyes completely widen as she stared at the figure in absolute shock.

Ayote: "M-Mom!?"

Everyone turned to Ayote, though Baba and Gohan weren't too shocked by this revelation as the older Saiyan simply places her hands on her hips as she smiled.

Elery: "Been a while, hasn't it, Ayote?"
