Kirk goes to a bar and meets Pike there, starting off a new part to their relationship. Kirk deals with memories plaguing him and having somewhat of a thing for Spock at the same time that the Vulcan is dating Uhura. Mild AU. Bones could never forgot Jim's words. Long after Jim's death, they had stayed with him, haunting him. But, perhaps the whole thing wasn't as bad as he thought. Maybe there was some actual meaning behind the words. Then again, he was talking about Jim. McKirk or no McKirk. It's purely up to individual interpretation.
