BIZARRO DREAMS ALERT!
(Bizarro Dreams episode 10)
[Seiya hears a doorbell ring. He walks to the door and opens it]
Seiya – Oh, hey! Saori-san!
[Saori blushes]
Seiya – What's with the blush? (notices wearing underwear briefs) Oh crap!
[he blushes too and slams the door]
Seiya – This is embarrassing! She saw me in underwear! And why do I have THAT of all things?!
[he dresses up, opens the door, and Saori enters]
Saori – That was fast. I think I saw a cute little… pony!
Seiya (annoyed) Really, Saori-san? Not you too.
Saori – Just kidding. Here's a letter.
Seiya (opens the letter) It's from Ikki telling us to fight him on Mount Fuji. And of course, we must bring the pieces of the Gold Cloth. It'll happen in a week.
Saori – We must have Shiryu come back with the repaired cloths.
Seiya – Well, yeah since he pulled through, but I'm concerned about the long journey he took.
Saori – Given this is dream simulation, he'll be back.
Seiya – You're right. I must stay put and be patient.
[Meanwhile at the Ancient Peaks in China]
Master – Shiryu! I've been told you almost died during combat.
Shiryu – Right because I was a bit… distracted. What was it? That's right! My master was dying! How come you're not dying? Did you lie to me?
Master – Yes!
Shiryu – But why?
Master – To generate tension in the story.
Shiryu – Either way, I'm happy you're in good health.
[Shunrei yawns in the background]
Master – So I heard you're going to Jamir.
Shiryu – Yes! I must get these cloths repaired.
Master – I advise against that. That place is known as the cloth graveyard. Many saints sought the same only to die in the open.
Shiryu – But even so, I must press on since we're going to fight the Black Saints.
Master – Very well. I have only one piece of advice and that is go straight and only straight. Straight, straight again. Straight, straight again. Straight at all times.
Shiryu (eyebrow twitches) Is that literal or symbolic?
Master – I said straight, Shiryu!
Shiryu (thinking) Why do I feel the subtext rubs me the wrong way?
[Shiryu embarks to the mountains of Jamir]
Shiryu – Three days pass and I'm here. The air is so thin that locals don't go there. Maybe I'm lost…
[Shiryu stumbles upon the cloth graveyard his master mentioned]
Shiryu – My master wasn't lying!
[Zombie spirits approach Shiryu]
Zombie – Where do you think you're going?
Shiryu – Obvious to Mu so he can repair these cloths!
Zombie – How cute! Every saint said the same thing and died. We can't let you pass for free!
[zombie saints form]
Zombie – Show us what you got! Otherwise, you won't get to Mu and end up like us.
[but three hours pass]
Shiryu (thinking) Dammit! They've been beating me for three hours! I have to get out of this mess!
[Shiryu breaks off from the hits received]
Shiryu – That's right! I'll move forward! Dragon rush!
[his skill forms a dragon rushing through the zombies and ends on the other side of the ravine]
Shiryu (looking down) Okay, I see now. It was both just as my master said.
[after climbing some more, Shiryu arrives at Mu's mansion]
Shiryu – Alright, Mu! Repair our cloths!
[but boulders drop from above, burying him. Shiryu frees himself]
Shiryu – Kiki, what the hell?!
Kiki – Did you forget? This is a simulation.
Shiryu – Even so, I demand Mu to repair these cloths.
Kiki – Good luck with that. There is no entrance or stairs to climb.
Shiryu – You're making this difficult.
[Shiryu flexes, ripping his top, and blowing the floor of the building. Kiki tries hanging on but drops]
Shiryu – Oh crap! I think I killed him.
Mu (appears) No, you didn't young Bronze Saint.
Shiryu – Wait a sec! Why are you talking like my school counselor? Your voice wasn't like that.
Mu – Of course it wasn't. But I need to borrow a voice and your school counselor is the perfect fit.
Shiryu – Okay, I get it. Anyway, can you repair these two cloths?
[Mu gives them a quick glance]
Mu – Oof! These cloths are so dead.
Shiryu (sweat drop) Really, now?
[Mu repairs his tower with a single finger]
Mu – Just because this is a dream simulation, doesn't mean things will be different. The principles remain the same.
Shiryu – This includes asking me to give up my life to repair the cloths.
Mu – Yes, that's correct! You can refuse but I can't tell how things will proceed.
Shiryu – This happened once and Seiya's my friend, so I'll do this. He's a bit loose in the head, though.
[Mu cuts Shiryu's head and uses his blood on the cloths]
(wake-up reaction)
Seiya sits up in his bed with a jolt.
"I had a dream that Mu killed Shiryu. Thank goodness that never happened. But why does Mu speak with our school counselor's voice? He didn't sound like that. This is truly getting bizarre. Oh well..."
[July 1, Sunday - week 1]
Saori arrives at the dorm like she does every Sunday night and sits in the armchair to offer updates and weekly allowances. Seiya showed her the letter they received yesterday, and she read the contents.
"I see. Good to know Sanctuary is in safe hands," she says.
"Knowing them, they'll do a good job," Shun says.
"There are other Saints, too, so they're not alone," Shiryu adds.
"That's good to know but..." Seiya mutters.
"You still want your sister here," Hyoga says.
"Of course! I've waited for so long."
"But your sister's not alone. It would've made more sense to bring her here if she was. Right now is not the time," Ikki says.
"So I have no choice but to endure... again."
Seiya sighs. Shun leans over and taps his shoulder.
"Thanks, guys, but I'll be okay. As long as my sister is doing fine and taken care of, then I have nothing to worry about. On the other hand, I'm worried about Sanctuary being left wide open to anything."
"Seiya, Shaina said they'll manage," Saori says.
"I know, I know." Seiya's eyes roll up in exasperation. "But the problem can be easily solved by letting us drop out of school."
"My answer remains the same," Saori says with folded arms. "Although I am aware that recruiting new Gold Saints would be difficult."
"Yeah, that requires finding a new group of people with enough character, having their seventh sense already mastered, and being willing to don a gold cloth. We can't grab some random group off the streets."
"There is a way however..."
The boys direct their gaze towards Saori upon listening, eager to hear what she'll say next. They offer their undivided attention.
"We're listening, Saori-san. Tell us everything! Don't hold anything back! Just tells us what we need to do." Seiya demands.
"You can be Gold Saints right now," Saori says.
"I beg your pardon?" Shiryu asks, confused.
"Exactly what I'm saying. You can be Gold Saints right now. If you swear, I'll let you all out of school, and we'll go to Sanctuary immediately."
The boys stare with mouths open and dotted eyes.
"However, you must give up being Bronze Saints for good. Being a Gold Saint is a full-time position. Unlike Poseidon and Hades, where you wore the armor temporarily, you must wear them at all times. Also, being a Gold Saint implies being in charge of your zodiac temple, and you must guard it at all costs. Meaning you cannot invite and open your temple for parties. The zodiac houses are sacred temples, after all."
"So by being Gold Saints, we'll lose our independence," Ikki says.
"It sounds like a dream come true, but it's too soon," Hyoga says.
"I don't think I'm ready for a full-time responsibility," Shun says.
"The Libra cloth is ready to take, but I'm not ready," Shiryu says.
"Let's see. Be a Gold Saint but give up my bronze cloth or go to school and still be a Bronze Saint. Argh! I can't make a decision like this! But the truth is I'm not ready! Sorry, Saori-san, I'm going to have to decline."
"You decided. Now, can you stop begging to drop out of school? The position of Gold Saint will be open, though, so you can ask at any time."
The BBs sigh and sit back, exhausted from hearing her words.
"If we'd become Gold Saints now, we'd lose progress in our school life. Especially when we're trying so hard to earn student trust," Shiryu says.
"Yeah, and we finally met teachers worthy of our respect. I hate to leave them behind," Hyoga adds.
"And we've established our first garden," Shun says.
"We've started to find our place that isn't just fighting," Ikki says.
"I would still keep the option open. But right now, I just want to be a normal student. Going to the club and hanging out with my friends. Heck! I've become quite a cook and you guys like it!" Seiya declares.
"I'm so happy you finally understand why you're here. I can finally breathe knowing you decided to continue with school."
"Saori-san, we got two years to go. Two years is nothing."
To be continued...
