"I think it's time that I start to move too." he says to himself before standing up and walking out of his office.

The cold wind of the mountain touches his skin the moment that he opens the door and for a moment he feels like his old self.

He would have once jumped for joy, as he now had all of the posters, comics, mangas figurines, and all sorts of things that he couldn't afford before, but whatever joy those things would have given him was gone.

He can hear his footsteps as he walks but he ignores them, just like he ignores the statues of the heroes that he once admired.

he makes sure to walk slightly faster whenever he is about to cross an area that has a shadow on it or makes a shadow connect to his shadow, every step that he takes is carefully made so that he makes it harder for an assassin to target him.

He hates the mountain, but he hates the mansion even more.

It's quiet in the mountain, but it is completely silent in the mansion, every time he feels the wind touch the back of his head or if he hears the sound of leaves moving outside he is forced to remember the war.

It wasn't like he or any of the men that he fought beside were anywhere near the first places that the ninjas attacked, hell they weren't even a part of the frontlines when everything started.

He can still remember when everything changed for him.

It had been a long and slow day at work and just like the day before his supervisor had been a complete asshole but now that he was home he just wanted t watch TV and get some sleep.

If only things had gone that way.

the war with the other world was something that didn't have anything to do with him, after all, it was just one more war being fought far away from home.

He had just managed to sit down when the videos of a news reporter doing an interview appeared, but the video didn't last long because the image quickly changed and it showed thousands of pieces of paper covering the city.

Then the video changed again as a helicopter showed how the city was destroyed by a group of ninjas who were trying to make their escape, and the only reason that the army managed to kill them was that the helicopter chased after them.

At first, he thought that what he had found was a movie, but he was quickly proven wrong when the United Nations along with every other country and kingdom in the world appeared and declared total war.

Every man, woman, and child was ordered to fight the ninjas in whatever way they could.

Then he heard his cell phone began to ring before a robotic voice came in.

"This is the World Government you have just been drafted, if you do not present yourself you will be marked as a traitor and will be executed when you are captured."

He could feel his chest trying to make itself into a ball, as he felt himself begin to shake with dread.

He slowly moved his hand closer to his phone and found an emblem that he had never seen before on its screen, he tried to turn his cell phone off, but no matter what he did the thing wouldn't turn off.

Different kinds of fear stick with a person and what he felt back then was one of them because he knew that no matter what he did, he couldn't escape.

That was the day that he drank for the first time, he hadn't drunk any alcohol since he had been a teenager, but he ran to the nearest store and bought as much beer as he could get his hands on.

The beer was bitter and yet it didn't seem to have any flavor, but he drank it anyway, he drank until he vomited and he kept on drinking until he finally passed out.

he can still remember waking up to his front door being broken down before a group of heavily armed police officers ran in graved him by the arms and threw him into an armored car filled with people.

The only thing that the army did was give everyone a machine gun, some magazines, and a lot of grenades.

There was no training, because how could anyone train for what we were about to fight?

He can still remember the haunted eyes filled with pity that the officers gave him and everyone else when they ordered everyone to walk.

They ordered everone to walk, not march but walk.

It didn't take long for them to see the remains of the tanks that were torn open by something, or the ruins of buildings that still had the corpses of giant creatures rotting inside of them.

No one dared to make a sound back then and then the ninjas attacked.

The first group was fast but they weren't hard to kill because while they may have had superpowers the group that he was with had a lot of guns with them.

So they managed to kill them long before the ninjas ever reached them.

He wished that he could say that he let out a breath of relief because they managed to push the invaders back, but he would be lying.

The first group was easy and in all honesty, everyone could believe that they had managed to kill the entire group, but before anyone could say anything, the explosions started.

He can still remember seeing the people with him flying back when they were hit with something that the ninjas threw at them and the feeling of helplessness when his ears began to ring.

The screams of the people who were with him just moments ago will forever haunt him because those same people tried to run away, but even if they dropped their guns and ran the ninjas still killed them.

He doesn't know when he began to fire wildly into the air or when he changed the empty magazine to one that was full of bullets.

He just knows that by the time that he was able to control himself again, someone was holding him and he was holding his gun with so much strength that his fingers were bleeding.

All around him were the dead bodies of men and women whom the ninjas had killed, he later found out that there had only been five of those super-powered ninjas.

Five men had killed so many people by themselves.

This memory of his might not seem like much to a lot of people, especially with everything missing, but his memory is similar to the one that a lot of the survivors have.

Kill-on-sight orders

During the war, the leaders of Earth were forced to accept that they could never kill some Ninjas because they were just too powerful.

These ninjas could kill entire armies of both normal soldiers and spell casters and because they realized that it was impossible for anyone to escape when they found one of these ninjas, the kill-on-sight order was created.

All soldiers regardless of rank are to activate every weapon that they have on them and charge at the ninja, because that monster is going to kill them anyway.

All soldiers are to abandon any care for wildlife and civilians in the area, as some Ninjas can transfer their consciousness into other people's bodies.

The surrounding area will be destroyed by different biological weapons designed to eat and poison the environment.

This is to kill the target and any other current and future threats, either because they died on the spot or because of the infection that they received.

If the threat is discovered to still be alive after this, a repeated nuclear bombardment of the area and surrounding area will follow.
