HP Girls: Day 7: Start of Ghost Guitar

Hearthome City, Sinnoh. 16th February, 2023. 7:00am.

There was a loud knock on Drew and Gary's door. Gary groggily got up to open the door. "Hey," he greeted his favourite brunette. Leaf stepped in enthusiastically. "Hi!" she waved excitedly. "So, I've got your schedules," she handed him an envelope and set one down on the side table beside where Drew was sleeping.

Gary looked it over before opening it.

GARY OAK SCHEDULE- FEB 16-18

8:00-10:00: Gym

10:00-10:35: Hairstyling

10:35-11:00: Wardrobe

11:00-1:00: Rap

1:00-3:00: Dance

3:00-5:00: Stage Presence

"Cool," he said, closing up the envelope. Leaf peered over his shoulder. "Do we have any classes together?" she asked. She scanned the schedule before clapping her hands. "Oh, we do! We have dance and stage presence together," she grinned up at him. He smiled back as they stared into each other's eyes.

"What's going on?" Drew asked as he sat up from his position earlier. Gary and Leaf immediately broke eye contact and faced him. "Oh, our schedules arrived," Gary motioned to the envelope next to the green haired man. Drew made an 'o' with his mouth and picked up the envelope and it's contents.

DREW HAYDEN SCHEDULE- FEB 16-18

8:00-10:00: Gym

10:00-10:35: Hairstyling

10:35-11:00: Wardrobe

11:00-1:00: Vocals

1:00-3:00: Dance

3:00-5:00: Acting

"What do you have?" Leaf asked. Drew scratched the back of his head. "Vocals, dance, acting," he read. Leaf tapped her chin. "I'm pretty sure you have stage presence and dance with me and May, and vocals with Misty and I," she said. "Oh, and you're going to have other guys in the class." she reminded them. The boys nodded.

Leaf headed towards the door. "Okay, I'm leaving now," she said. "Take a quick shower and meet us at the gym," she instructed them before heading out the door.

She went to the room beside theirs and knocked. Paul quickly opened the door; ready to work out in black sweatpants and a white tank top. Leaf grinned. "So, I'm guessing you guys already saw the schedules?" she asked. Paul nodded and let her in.

Leaf thanked him and sat down on the bed. Then, she grabbed a random envelope and opened it.

PAUL REBOLLEDO SCHEDULE- FEB 16-18

8:00-10:00: Gym

10:00:-10:35: Hairstyling

10:35-11:00: Wardrobe

11:00-1:00: Vocals

1:00-3:00: Songwriting

3:00-5:00: Stage Presence

Paul looked at the time. "Ayo, Ash," he called. "Where the fuck are you?!" he yelled. "I'll be out in a sec!" Ash's muffled voice came from the bathroom. Paul groaned. "Well, hurry up, it's 7:54 already!" he said. "Yeah, yeah," Ash replied. Leaf grabbed the other envelope.

ASH KETCHUM SCHEDULE- FEB 16-18

8:00-10:00: Gym

10:00-10:35: Hairstyling

10:35-11:00: Wardrobe

11:00-1:00: Rap

1:00-3:00: Songwriting

3:00-5:00: Acting

"Cool." Leaf commented, leaving the paper flat on the bed. "Yo, you done in there?" she called. Ash exited the washroom. "I'm done!" he announced. "Finally!" Paul cheered sarcastically. Ash shot him a look before turning to Leaf. "Oh, hi Leaf!" he greeted. Leaf opened the front door. "Hi yourself. Let's go, go, go!" she ushered them out of the door and they ran to the gym's entrance where the others were waiting for them.

"Where were y'all?" Gary asked. Ash panted. "Sorry, we lost track of time," he responded. Paul and Leaf shot him looks. "We?" Paul asked, folding his arms. Ash narrowed his eyes at him. "Yes, we," he said. Leaf copied Paul. "Really Ash? We?" she tapped her foot. Ash sighed. "Okay, maybe it was just me," he admitted. "Ah, great! We all agree!" Misty cheered sarcastically.

The group just rolled their eyes and entered the gym where the girls walked them through their workout. Jimmy entered the gym and introduced himself to the males. "Hey dudes!" he grinned. "I'm Jimmy, your physician, a.k.a gym trainer," he said. The boys quickly introduced themselves as well. Jimmy faced Paul. "Paul," he called. Paul raised a brow as Dawn looked over. "Do you work out a lot? You have quite a lot of muscle," he commented, observing Dawn's reaction from behind him.

Paul subtly followed his eyes and smirked. "Yeah, I work out daily," he replied nonchalantly, flexing and unflexing his muscles. Dawn immediately blushed and looked away. Paul and Jimmy both chuckled under their breath. "Cute," Paul muttered before continuing his work out.

Soon, Gym was over, and both the groups headed in different directions. "Bye! We'll see you at the classes!" Leaf and the other girls waved before heading towards Zoey's Wardrobe and Lyra's Makeup Studio. The girls split up at the intersection, promising to see each other at hairstyling and in between classes.

Leaf and Dawn entered the closet and started looking around for Zoey. "Zoey!" Dawn called. Zoey's bright red hair popped out from behind one of the racks. She grinned. "Hey! Take a seat, I'm just picking out your outfits," she told them.

Leaf and Dawn nodded and sat there for a minute or so before Zoey came out with their outfits:

Dawn got a black full sleeved off the shoulder cut out t-shirt underneath a black spaghetti strap bra, along with black jogger pants. On her feet, she had on white sneakers.

Leaf got a full sleeved white crop top along with baggy black pants. On her feet were white and black vans.

In the room beside them, May and Misty were busy getting their makeup done:

May got some winged black eyeliner with a couple gemstone stickers beside the eyeliner. She also had her lips done a healthy pink, and her under eye bags covered with some concealer.

Misty got her eyebrows done a little more rough, with some mascara and a little eyeliner. She also had an auburn eyeshadow on. She too got her lips done, only a pinker colour than May's.

The boys headed towards their hairdresser who was, "Red! My man!" Gary greeted, hugging his friend. "Hey guys!" Red smiled. "Ready to get your hair done?" "Yeah!" They cheered.

Drew got his hair puffed up and hair-sprayed in a way that looks both neat and messy.

Gary and Ash, of course, got their signature spikes, while Paul got a slight trim to control his hair at the ends.

"Thanks Lyra!" Misty and May waved enthusiastically, skipping off to Zoey's classroom while Leaf and Dawn switched to Lyra's.

As soon as May and Misty entered, Zoey threw them multiple outfits to wear. "Here!" She said. They looked at her, lost. Zoey put her hands on her waist. "Well, what're y'all waiting for? Go, go, go!"

May came out of the change room wearing a simple cropped white t-shirt along with some heavily ripped baggy black jeans with black clunky boots.

Misty had been given a pair of clunky boots with long white socks, and a spaghetti strap top underneath an off the shoulder black oversized top. For the bottoms, she had on black boy shorts that stuck to her skin.

(IVE's 'I AM' Dance practice outfits: Leaf's is Wonyoung's, Misty's is Rei's, May's is Gauel's, and Dawn's is Leeseo's)

Meanwhile, Leaf and Dawn were busy getting their makeup done at Lyra's studio.

Leaf had gotten some lip liner, lip gloss, lipstick, eyeliner, some mascara, and some foundation, with defined eyebrows.

Dawn on the other hand had gotten a more natural makeup look, with only having some mascara, eyeliner, and lipstick on.

"Wow! We look amazing!" Dawn said, twirling around. Leaf grinned at her friend, and then her mentor. "Thanks Lyra," she said warmly.

Lyra smiled. "Of course, it's my job!" she laughed. "See you later, at five?" Dawn asked. Lyra nodded. Leaf and Dawn waved. "Bye!"

The girls met up in the hallway. "May! Misty!" Dawn cried dramatically, hugging them both. Misty and May laughed and patted her back.

Leaf grinned. "Hey girls," she responded. "Hey," Misty replied. "Let's go, you guys," Dawn said as she and May jogged towards the hairdressing room, where they almost ran straight into the boys.

"Woah, there, chill out," Drew said, pushing May back by the shoulders. She blushed. "Drew!" she smiled. "Hey," he said, scratching the back of his head.

"Ooooooo,"

Drew cleared his throat. "Anyways, we should probably go now," he said before winking. "Don't wanna make a bad impression," he said before giving his two finger salute.

"Okay, see ya," Misty waved. "Come on, let's go!" she ushered them in.

"Hello girls," Red greeted. "So how's my little sissy doing?" he grinned. Leaf swatted his arm. "Red!" she whined. He smiled. "Alright, alright," he said. "Let's go,"

Leaf and Dawn got their hair straightened, while Misty got her's done in a braid. May got her hair trimmed at the bottom a little.

"Thanks Red!" Leaf said, hugging her brother. "Anytime, sis," he winked. "See y'all at five!" he waved.

"Okay, we'll see you girls later, alright?" Dawn and May waved. "Bye!" "See you," Misty and Leaf called before heading to vocals.

"Hey Mist," Leaf said. "Yeah?" Misty asked, turning to her friend. Leaf tapped her chin. "Ia it juat me, or was Serena looking at Drew weird yesterday?" she asked.

Misty thought for a moment before shaking her head. "I didn't think so." she replied.

Leaf nodded awkwardly. "Oh okay,"

May, Dawn, Gary, and Ash entered Rap.

"Hey," Calem greeted. The group nodded. "So, we're going to do some rhythms today." he told them. May raised her hand. Calem nodded towards her. "Yes?" May put down her hand. "What's rhythming?" He chuckled and nodded. "We're getting to that," he told her. "So…"

"We just create our own rhythm?" Ash asked. Calem nodded. Then, he looked at his watch. "And, y'all have thirty minutes to do that," he told them. Gary, May, and Dawn's eyes widened. "Thirty?!" they yelled before running to their instruments: an electric guitar for Gary, a keyboard for May, a triangle for Dawn, and a drum set for Ash.

Meanwhile, Leaf, Misty, Drew, and Paul were at Vocals with Serena. "Bonjour mes amis!" Serena trilled as she walked into the classroom. "Hey Serena!" Misty smiled. Serena grinned right back. "So, we're going to work on a few songs today," she told them. "But first, let's get started with some warm-ups,"

Some time later, Drew and Paul were ready. Drew raised his hand. Serena nodded. "I've written a song," he told her. "Can we do it?" Serena tapped her chin. "Okay," she agreed. Drew gave her his million watt smile. "Thanks," he regarded. Serena dazedly sat down in the producer's chair. "Uh huh,"

Serena immediately stood up and clapped her hands vigorously. "Well done!" she exclaimed. "That could be your boys' debut song!" she exclaimed excitedly.

Drew rubbed the back of his neck. "Really? Was it that good?" he asked her. Serena nodded, her face colouring a little. "Yes! Wait, I'll call the others here right now. We may have just gotten Ghost Guitar's first recording!"

A few seconds later, Calem arrived from across the hallway with May, Dawn, Gary, and Ash in tow. "Serena? What's up?" he asked her casually.

Serena blushed as she pushed Drew forward to explain. Drew looked back at her quizzically, but explained what was going on nonetheless. Calem nodded.

"May I see the lyrics?" he asked. "Sure," Drew said. Calem thanked him before grabbing Serena by the arm into a room. Serena flushed. "C-Calem?" she stuttered.

"Hmm?" he looked up. "W-why are we…?" "Oh!" he snapped his fingers. "Right. Sorry. I wanted to figure out which part we should give to whom," he told her. "Oh." Serena deflated.

A little while later, they came out with the finished sheet and handed out the printed copies to each of the boys:

Drew raised his hand. "Yeah?" Calem asked. Drew looked at him confusedly. "If I'm in vocals class, then aren't I worse at vocals than these two?" he asked them.

Serena nodded slowly. "You are the one with the most incompetent vocal technique in the band," she regarded.

Drew nodded. "So why do I have a high note?" he asked them.

Serena and Calem chuckled. "Well because, we want to show your natural talents, but also your versatility. Also, your vocal technique is the worst in the group, but if compared to most people, is very advanced; I would myself place you in the C+ tier," Serena told him.

"You have vocal support for notes Eb3-F#5" she told him. Drew folded his arms. "I don't think C+ is good, but okay…" he muttered.

May sighed and went up to the boy. "Hey, it's okay, yeah?" she murmured. "If Serena says it's good, then I'm sure it is. Now, stop beating yourself up, and go record the song. I know you'll kill that high note!" she encouraged him. Drew smiled.

"Thanks," he told her. Serena cleared her throat annoyedly. "Okay, let's go," she urged them. Then, she faced the girls. "You can sit there," she pointed to a bench near the producer's table.

"Okay," they chorused and waited for the recording to start.

Calem tapped Serena's shoulder. She turned around, her face flushed into a pink hue. "I think we should call Alain and Iris, and everyone," he told her. Serena nodded though her blush didn't fade away.

"Aww. Serena likes Calem," Dawn cooed. "She does?" May asked obliviously. "Mhm. See? She's bright red!" Misty laughed. Leaf shifted uncomfortably. "Is it really just me who notices her strange behaviour around Drew?" she asked.

"She acts strange around Drew?" May asked again.

Dawn and Misty exchanged confused looks. "I don't think so," Dawn said. "Me either," Misty added. Leaf nodded unsurely. She was sure Serena was acting strange around the lime haired man. Am I going delusional or something? she asked herself.

Meanwhile, Paul was up, recording first.

"Try the every minute part," Calem suggested. Paul nodded. Calem started the recording.

Paul took a deep breath. "Every hour, every minute, every second," Calem nodded and saved the recording. "Good job," he smiled.

"Take it from the Monday part," Calem instructed. Paul nodded as the music started playing.

"Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday"

Calem nodded. "Try to soften up the tone a little," he said.

Soon, it was Gary's turn.

"Take it up from the first line,"

"Weight of the world on your shoulders"

Calem shook his head. "Try to make it seem less breathy. Softer."

Gary repeated the same phrase, applying the corrections. Calem shook his head again. "Good, but try to stress the 'shou' part,"

Next up, was Ash.

"Alright, Ash take it from the you wrap around me part," Serena spoke into the microphone.

Ash nodded. "You wrap around me and you give me life. And that's why night after night, I'll be loving you right oh-oh-oh-oh"

Serena nodded. "Awesome. I don't think we need another take for that one," she turned to Calem for his opinion. He nodded.

A little while later, Drew came up into the room.

"Okay, Drew," Serena muttered looking at the lyrics. "Let's start with the rap part for you,"

Drew nodded. "Okay,"

Suddenly, the door opened. "Alain!" Serena and Calem smiled. Alain waved. "Yo," he replied. "So, we're recording the dudes' first song?" he asked. Serena nodded. "Cool,"

Gary, Ash, and Paul exchanged confused looks. Who was this guy?

Drew just waved to the blue haired man.

"Okay, let's continue," Calem said, motioning for the newcomer to seat himself on a couch near the girls.

While they continued recording, Alain turned to the girls. "Hey," he greeted, brushing a strand of hair out of his face.

"Hey Alain!" The girls greeted cheerfully.

The rest of the session continued without any mishaps, and soon, the boys were done with the recording.

"Woohoo!" Iris and Marina cheered enthusiastically while Jimmy and Cilan just shook their heads at them amusedly.

Serena laughed. "Awesome, right?" she walked up to the girls. Calem sneaked a glance at her. Then, he pinched himself and forced himself to look away. She doesn't like you… he sighed to himself.

"Guys," May tapped Serena's shoulder. "Hmm?" Serena smiled, turning around to face her.

"Um… I… wrote a song, while you guys were recording," she hesitantly handed a piece of paper to Serena. The blonde smiled and took a look at it.

"So, what do you think?" May asked, playing with her fingers nervously.

Serena grinned. "I think we may have just found your debut song,"

"PIZZA TIME!"

Everyone turned to face Red, who was the one who'd screamed, with Lyra, Silver, Zoey, Kenny, and an unfamiliar pink haired woman.

"Hey everybody!" Lyra smiled.

Alain immediately ran to hug the young woman. "Mairin!" Alain exclaimed happily. "You made it!" The girl winked. "Of course I did,"

The room stared.

Alain turned around sheepishly. "Oh, this is my long-distance girlfriend, Mairin. Mairin, these are all my collegues, Iris, Cilan, Kenny, Lyra, Marina, Jimmy, Zoey, Red, Leaf, Serena, Calem, Gary, Drew, May, Ash and Misty."

Everybody waved as Alain called their name. "Hey Mairin!" They chorused. Mairin giggled cutely. "Hi everybody!" she said.

"So, ready for pizza?" Calem asked.

Red nodded enthusiastically. "Hell yeah!" he cheered.

Leaf rolled her eyes at her brother.

Gary grabbed her arm. "Let's go, then!" he smiled down at her. She couldn't help but smile back.

As the group was walking, Red tapped Leaf on the shoulder. "Hey, sis, can I talk to you for a sec?"

Leaf shrugged. "Sure," she followed Red to the back of the group.

Red fidgeted nervously with his fingers. "Well, um," he stuttered. "Don't, tell anyone yet," he whispered. Leaf nodded. "But, I…have a girlfriend,"

"WHAT?!" Leaf exclaimed loudly. Thankfully, the others didn't seem to hear her outburst.

"What the fuck Leaf?!" Red whisper-shouted.

Leaf stuck out her tongue. "Sorry," she apologized.

Red sighed and shook his head. "It's all good," he smiled tiredly.

Leaf jumped up and down. "That's great though! You got a girlfriend!" she whispered.

Red scratched the back of his head. "Yeah," he said. "And uh, could you meet her tomorrow? I made dinner reservations for six,"

Leaf tapped her chin before nodding. "Six is good. I'll see her tomorrow then," she winked before skipping into the pizza place. Red just shook his head and followed her in.

Inside, the store was buzzing with chatter.

"O.M.G no way!"

"Actually?"

"YES! And then she goes, 'Well, I don't wanna do…"

Leaf snorted into her cup. "Oh my gosh, I remember that!" she laughed loudly.

May joined in. "I KNOW! She was covered in slime, honey, and cornflakes!" she wiped her eyes.

Dawn folded her arms and pouted. "Well, it wasn't my fault some people, namely you all," she pointed at Misty, May, and Leaf. "Don't look wherever the hell they're going!" she huffed.

"It was still funny," Leaf shrugged. The other two chuckled. Dawn just rolled her eyes.

The entire table laughed. "I cannot imagine that!" Gary grinned.

"Me either!" Drew laughed.

Serena turned to look at Drew. "So, Drew, do you play any instruments?" she asked, batting her eyelashes slightly. Drew shifted uncomfortably.

"Uh. Yeah. Drums, Keyboard, Piano, Violin, guitar, electric guitar, flute, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, I even do electric beats," he spoke proudly.

"Really?" Marina joined in on the conversation.

Drew nodded.

"That's awesome! You're so talented Drew," Serena gushed, not noticing the jealous look Calem had on his face.

"…I am too, right Serena?" Calem stepped in, putting a hand on her shoulder.

Serena blushed heavily. "Right," she grinned.

Alain approached Leaf. "Excuse me, Leaf?" he asked. "Could I talk to you?"

Leaf shrugged and followed him outside. "I'm sorry, I totally forgot about my anniversary dinner date tonight. Could we reschedule our meeting for tomorrow or in a few days?" he asked.

Leaf nodded. "Oh, of course! Well, I'm not free tomorrow, so how about on Wednesday?" she asked him. "Sure. It's a deal," Alain grinned. "Thank you very much Miss Leaf,"

Leaf smiled. "No problem," she sang as she walked back to her dorm with her band mates.

"Did you like dinner?" Misty asked.

"Hell yeah! Is it just me, or did they use like, a different type of cheese?" May asked.

Dawn giggled. "I think it's just you, May,"

"No, I noticed it too!"

"Thank you!"

"Sheesh May, who knew you had the ability to sound desperate?"

"I'm not desperate."

"You sound desperate right now,"

"Fuck you Misty. Fuck you."

"I think Misty would like Ash to be her first, actually,"

"What the fuck Dawn!"

"What the hell did I do?"

"Yeah, Dawn's right! I see you guys look at each other all the time!"

"See? Leaf knows what she sees!"

"Ah, thank you, the Great Dawn."

"Oh, of course,"
