The Incredible Spider-Girl Chapter 1

I honestly don't know who would be willing to listen to this crazy story I call my life, but I can attest to saying that it is definitely worth telling. This story is about a girl, no not the average girl, not the popular hot girl, more like the nerdy girl who no one listens to because she's a dork. Which is probably why no one was willing to help me when I was clearly trying to get onto the bus.

"Stop! Stop the bus! Please!" Penny Parker had been banging her hand on the side of the bus while running after it. She was wearing her typical t-shirt, jacket, and jeans while sweating due to her running for about half an hour now. The bus driver didn't stop but was instead laughing at her feeble attempts, the same as everyone else on the bus. All except for Mary Jane who was the only one to tell the bus driver to stop, of course now he couldn't pretend so he begrudgingly stopped and opened the door. Penny Parker quickly got onto the bus and thanked the driver, only for him to angrily signal her to get into a seat and shut up. Penny looked around for a seat as she went through the bus, but it was crowded and everyone who did have space told her to keep looking, then one of Flash's friends tripped her causing her to fall on the ground while the other students laughed at her. Then the friend took her glasses off as she raised her head to look up.

"Ah! Hey, my glasses!"

"Wow, I was right, you a lot prettier with them off."

"Please give them back! I can't see without them!"

"God what a buzzkill, maybe if you stopped wearing them people would actually like you." He then threw the glasses on the ground and Penny shamefully picked them up and put them on. Penny then walked to the very back of the bus where she sat and remained silent for the entire ride.

Once the bus finally made it to the destination of the Columbia University genetics laboratory, Penny was particularly excited because one of the exhibits combined her two favorite things genetics and spiders. Penny was afraid of spiders like everyone else, but she could never help but be fascinated with them and all the things they could do. It was really the only thing she was looking forward to today since Harry wasn't here. Harry and Penny were childhood friends, knowing one another since elementary school, though he wasn't always known as reliable.

Once everyone got off the bus Penny followed, making sure she was the last so no one would push her out of the bus to fall face first on the floor like last time. Penny made sure to stick in the back for now, she would only go forward when it was time to take pictures. However, Penny couldn't help but look at Mary Jane's hair. Penny never knew why but she always loved staring at Mary Jane and watching her beautiful hair flow in the air. Suddenly Mary Jane looked over her shoulder and seemingly looked at Penny, she then waved happily at her. Penny smiled and blushed while waving back; though, didn't take long for Penny to realize that Mary Jane was actually waving at her friends who were behind Penny. Penny sighed and followed her classmate to the inside of the Laboratory, she really wasn't expecting today to be a good day.

"Hey Penny! Wait up!" Penny then smiled, she turned around to see Harry walking towards her. Penny just wanted to wave hi but Harry got up to her and gave her a big hug.

"Ah! How's my favorite nerd!" Penny could hear her classmates laughing and she instinctively thought they were laughing at them, making her blush in embarrassment.

"Harry please let me go." Harry laughed joyfully, and Penny tried to smile too, but she was still blushing in embarrassment. Harry saw that her blushing and assumed it was for a different reason which made him smile.

"Harry, I'm pretty sure you'll need this." Harry frowned when he heard that voice. Harry turned around and reluctantly took his backpack from his dad.

"Penny, this is my father, Norman Osborn." Penny smiled with joy and quickly extended her hand to Norman.

"Hello! Mister Osborn, it's an honor to meet you!"

"Hello Penny, I've heard so much about you, thought clearly not enough. Harry how come you never told me how pretty your friend was." Penny blushed upon hearing this and brushed her hair with her hand out of joyful embarrassment. Harry sighed in annoyance, he was also greatly aggravated that he was never able to make Penny smile like that.

"Though from what I hear you have more than looks, Harry told me you're quite the science wiz. You know I'm something of a scientist myself."

"Oh of course sir! I read all your research on nano technology!"

"And you understood it?"

"Oh, I wrote a paper on it!"

"Really? Your parents must be very proud."

"I uh, actually live with my uncle and aunt but yes, they are proud!" Penny and Harry heard the teacher calling out to them to hurry up and follow the class.

"It was great to meet you Sir!" Penny and Harry then ran off to catch up with the class.

"He didn't seem so bad."

"Yeah, I could tell you thought that since you were blushing at him the entire time, oh and yes he's single in case you were wondering."

"Gross! Harry I was just honored to meet someone as brilliant as him! Besides he's your dad that's like a win-win."

"Yeah, except you're the only one winning."

"Oh, come on Harry you know I like spending time with you."

"Really? Does that mean you'd be okay with going on a date with me?" Penny looked at Harry with a mixture of confusion and shock.

"I- I didn't say that."

"No, no. its cool. you uh, didn't have to." Harry then walked off with a smile on his face, Penny then sighed and followed.

Now inside the Laboratory Penny was smiling as she observed everything on display, she was especially excited to see the electron microscope devise.

"Woah, that's the most advanced electron microscope on the eastern seaboard."

"Wow, I love it when you talk like a nerd." Penny looked at Harry as her smile turned into a frown, she then sighed in disappointment as she looked away from him.

"Oh, come on Penny, you know I'm just teasing."

"Harry, can we please just drop it ok?" Harry just sighed in annoyance. Harry actually had a crush on Penny since they met as kids, but he always thought she never knew his true feelings, regardless of what he tried. In truth Penny knew, she just didn't like Harry that way, in fact Penny didn't know why but no matter how handsome or muscular a boy was she never felt anything for them. The same could unfortunately be said for her friend Harry, she just never knew how to tell him or even get him to actually listen. Instead of focusing on Harry anymore she just continued to listen to the lecture the tour guide was giving about spiders. Penny was scared of spiders like any normal person, but she was also fascinated by them and how each one had different abilities and characteristics. They were gross but also so beautiful to her, though not as beautiful as Mary Jane who Penny saw getting annoyed by Flash trying kiss her. Mary Jane then noticed Penny staring at her so Penny quickly looked away while blushing in embarrassment. Penny tried to focus on anything else she could and thankfully was able to when the tour guide showed them the first spider which has great jumping abilities and reflexes.

"Um, excuse me, can I take a picture for the school paper?"

"Why of course, go ahead." Penny smiled, took out her camera, and was ready to take a picture. However, she ended up photographing the floor when Flash's friend elbowed her in the back.

"Ah! Hey."

"Sorry, your glasses blinded me, maybe you should take them off." Penny just grunted in annoyance as she walked with everyone else to the next spider. Again Penny tried to take a picture but again Flash's friend just elbowed her to make her photograph the ground.

"Argh, can you please stop that?"

"Will you go on a date with me?"

"Wow dude, you'd actual date a geek girl?"

"Hey, I'm just trying to be nice, after all geek girls are always desperate for attention."

"Hey leave her alone."

"Or what? Daddy's gonna sue us while he changes your dipper?"

"Hey! What are you all doing!" Thankfully the teacher showed up and Flash with all his friends finally shut up. Penny and Harry smiled as they walked off while the teacher glared at Flash and his friends.

"I don't get why those guys bully you so much, Penny."

"... Flash and his friends think I have a crush on them."

"Do you?"

"God no, I'd never be that desperate."

"Ha, well said." Harry and Penny then walked up to a little selection of different spider species.

"Gross look at that Spider."

"Some spiders have the ability to change their color based on their surroundings, it's a defense mechanism. Though I'm not sure they would need it with all their webbing. Did you know that if a spider's webbing was bundled up to match the width of a pencil it would be as strong as Kevlar. which is the toughest man-made polymer."

"... Penny, I know I said I love you being a nerd but... I really don't think I want to know even more reasons to be terrified of spiders."

"But it's still cool, isn't it?" Finally, they reached the end of the spider part of the tour where they displayed the genetically altered spiders. Penny wanted to get a closer look but stopped when Mary Jane walked right up the exhibit.

"Hey, its Mary Jane, think I got a shot with her?"

"Harry, isn't she dating Flash?"

"... and?" Harry then walked to Mary Jane despite Penny still wanting to protest.

"Wow so disgusting."

"Yeah, hateful little things."

"I love them." Penny couldn't help but feel her heart flutter with joy hearing that Mary Jane liked spiders as much as she feared them, just like Penny did.

"... Ahem, yeah me too." Harry then looked back at Penny in embarrassment while she smirked at him.

"uh, you know there are actually quite a few spiders that can change their color based on their surroundings. Its a defense mechanism."

"Really?"

"Yeah, thought I don't know why they would need it with all that webbing. Did you know that if a spider's webbing was bundled up to match the width of a pencil it would be as strong as Kevlar. that's the toughest man-made polymer by the way."

"Wow, that's so cool." Mary Jane then smiled at Harry, and he smiled back at her. Harry then looked back at Penny, and he smirked at her while she glared at him in disappointment. Penny couldn't help but feel furious at Harry not only was he flirting with Mary Jane, but he was also using her knowledge to do so, the same knowledge he told her was gross and scary not too long ago.

"Uh hey did you know that thing right there is actually the most advanced electron microscope on the eastern seaboard."

"Really? How do you know all this stuff?"

"I guess you could call me a nerd of sorts." Harry again looked back at Penny who had her arms crossed as she glared in disapproval and anger. However, the teacher soon got to Harry and forced him away from Mary Jane and started scolding him for talking during the tour guides presentation. With the teacher distracted getting the rest of the class to move on, Penny and Mary Jane were alone with the spiders. Penny walked up to Mary Jane all while her heart was racing with excitement, she never once talked to Mary Jane directly despite them being neighbors. But now was her chance however she had nothing to say, she had no good conversation starters or anything like that. Sure she could give more spider and science facts those weren't good conversation starters, and it would be really awkward. However, Penny quickly realized she was still holding her camera and thus a great idea popped into her head.

"Uh hey! Mary Jane, right?"

"Oh? Yeah, your Penny, right? Uh just so you know there's nothing between me and Harry."

"Uh, ok. But uh why are you telling me that?"

"Aren't you two dating?" Penny couldn't help but sigh in annoyance after hearing that.

"No actually... Where did you hear that from?"

"Oh nowhere, everyone just assumed it since you guys always seemed so close."

"Well, we're not dating. I always saw Harry as more of a brother."

"Oh... have you told him that? Because I noticed he stares at you a lot."

"I tried but he never listens. Once he has his sights on a girl, he never lets them go."

"Does that mean I'm his next victim?"

"Wait no- ugh, I sorry I made him sound awful no he's great actually."

"Oh yeah no I'm not saying otherwise. He's actually quite smart too, he told me this thing is the most advanced electron microscope on the eastern seaboard, isn't that cool?"

"Yeah... But uh hey I actually wanted to ask you something. Can I take your picture? I need a student in at least one of them for the paper."

"Oh sure! Uh where do you want me? Is it ok if I smile or-?"

"Oh, anywhere is fine! Just give your best impression of a student observing something scientific and cool."

"Okay, just don't make me look ugly."

"... That's impossible." Mary Jane chuckled in embarrassment form the compliment, again Penny's heart fluttered but this time she felt genuinely proud of making Mary Jane smile and laugh like that. Mary Jane then started doing her best poses for the pictures and Penny took each one with joy, this was the first time she was able to see Mary Jane smile for this long and it wasn't anything like how she usually smiles, this time it felt like she was actually smiling out of genuine happiness. The entire blissful moment Penny was completely unaware of the spider getting closer and closer to her. However, Mary Jane's friends ended up calling out to her so she quickly followed them to which Penny tried to go after but stopped herself realizing that would just make things awkward. Penny then sighed, she didn't know why but she was so happy to be alone with Mary Jane for so long, when would she ever get a chance like that again? Penny then looked at the photos in her camera to make sure they were good enough to be sent to the school paper however she quickly noticed a spider fell onto the camera and was now crawling around it.

"Oh hello? And what are you?" Penny looked around and saw a plastic bag, she quickly used it to snatch the spider without having to touch it.

"What are you? A new species? Lucky me then." Penny was so amazed by her discovery that she didn't even bother looking at the monitor behind her that showed the spider was actually the result of cross breeding between several spider species. It was also genetically altered making it the apex of all spiders in existence, however the monitor also warned that its venom had unknown properties, so it advised everyone to not get too close to a living sample. Penny then saw Harry calling out to her, so she smiled, put the spider in her pocket, and followed Harry.

Penny went home that day with glee, it ended up being a pretty good day despite all the bullying. She got to talk to Mary Jane, she got to take her pictures, and best of all she might have discovered a new species of spider and will get to be the one to present it to the world. She was so excited that she decided to skip dinner and walk straight to her room.

"Oh Penny! Your just in time for dinner!"

"Hey sweetheart, how was the fieldtrip?"

"Uh it was great actually but uh I'm actually going to go to my room."

"What but what about dinner?"

"I uh, got a lot of homework from today, so don't mind me I'll just be in my room."

"Well did you at least get some good pictures?"

"Oh, I got a beautiful girl- I mean some beautiful pictures! But uh right now I just need to do my homework, don't worry about me! Bye!"

"... What's up with her?"

"Leave her be Ben, that's the happiest I've seen her in a long time."

Penny quickly locked the door and got the spider out of her pocket; she quickly got her old lizard glass box out and released the spider out of the bag to let it wander inside freely.

"Man, this was my old pet's place, I called him T-Rex. but I guess this is yours now. I'll be sure to get you some crickets later." However, the spider noticed there were already some other spiders and crickets in the box which made sense given how old it was. This new spider quickly webbed all the crickets it could then with great speed take down the other spiders and web them up as well. Penny watched with amazement as the spider practically slaughtered everything else in the glass box.

"Wow, I got my hands on an apex predator!" After it was finally done the spider spun a web with amazing speed and feel asleep. Penny couldn't help but feel the urge to reach in and pet the spider to show it her appreciation for being such an amazing discovery.

"... I wonder if I'll get paid a lot of money if I give this to scientists." Once Penny was able to reach the spider, she gently pet it with her index finger. However, upon doing so the spider quickly woke up, turned its head, and bit her finger.

"Ow! You bit me! How could you... wait... you're not venomous are you?" The spider then went back to sleep as if nothing had happened. Penny's heart started racing out of fear. If this spider was venomous and it was a new species, then that meant there was no known cure or treatment so there was nothing Penny could do to make herself better. As her fear started taking over her mind the venom only started spreading faster and faster through her blood. Now Penny was starting to feel hot and dizzy she couldn't even think straight anymore. Penny then took off her shirt and pants, she then passed out on her bed while in her underwear.

Penny woke up on the floor, she had no idea why she was on the floor in the first place. After realizing she was still in her underwear, she quickly got up and reached her glasses. However, upon wearing them everything was blurry, only when she wasn't wearing them was everything clear.

"What? But how?" Penny then looked in the mirror to see herself in complete shock of herself. her arms and legs were slightly muscular, she was taller, she had well developed abs, her waist was slimmer, her hips were slightly curvier, and her breasts were a little bigger.

"... Oh... my... GOD! what the hell happened to me!"

"Penny? Are you alright?" Penny tried to calm down as she heard Aunt May's voice.

"Uh yes! I'm fine, I'm... I've actually never been better."

"Well in that case, could you please hurry up? You're going to be late for school!"

"Oh right! Sorry Aunt May!" Penny then quickly got as dressed as quickly as she could which ended up being quite hard since her clothes were slightly shorter and tighter now. Penny tried but everything she wore ended up being quite small and thus was a little revealing. In the end Penny was forced to wear a long shirt with regular jeans; However, the shirt has a button up top, and she had to open it to fit showing her cleavage and her jeans looked like skinny jeans on her. Penny groaned in annoyance, she wasn't trying to look the way she was but there was unfortunately nothing she could do about it, so she put on her backpack. However, as she did, she saw Mary Jane out the window and in her own room, she smiled at Mary Jane and then looked at herself in the mirror again. Penny couldn't help but smile I look like one of the pretty girls now Penny thought to herself. Penny was about to leave her room, however, she quickly noticed the spider still in its glass box but looking right at her.

"You... You did this to me didn't you?" The spider continued to stare at her for a while before looking away to eat the remaining corpses it collected the other day. Again, Penny sighed and continued to go downstairs. For some reason moving around made her so energetic she just slid on the railing and jumped onto ground which surprised Uncle Ben.

"Wow, there you... Who are you and what have you done with Penny?"

"Uncle Ben it's me, I just, uh. Had a makeover is all!"

"Huh, I knew kids your age goes through some changes with those raging hormones I just... wasn't expecting it to this degree."

"What are you two on about- oh, Penny? What happened to you?"

"I uh, guess I finally started taking your advice Aunt May and embraced my more girly side."

"But what about your glasses?"

"Oh uh... I got contact lenses."

"Me and your Aunt May never got you contact lenses."

"Uh... I'm going to be late for school." Penny then ran out of the house despite Aunt May trying to convince her to stay and eat breakfast with them.

"Huh, first she smiles for the first time in a while then she suddenly gets a makeover. I wonder what's next in store for our little Penny?"

"Oh, whatever It is I just hope it involves boys for a change. It's about time that girl started falling in love." Uncle Ben chuckled at Aunt May's words, he then heard yelling from the neighbor's house, he could tell right away it was Mary Jane's father yelling her. Uncle Ben felt bat for Mary Jane but at that moment he was focused on something else.

"May, I'm pretty sure that girl fell in love a long time ago. I just wonder how long it will take for her to realize it herself."

"Oh Ben, you know Penny only thinks of Harry as a friend." Uncle Ben then chuckled, that was not who he was talking about, but he figured that if he told Aunt May who he was talking about she'd probably have a heart attack.
