Welcome to yet another Oneshot. Again, these aren't usually popular compared to The Reign of King Ghidorah. However, it's not like anyone has ever requested anything, and everyone always says to write for themselves, so... Yeah, I choose to write this.

This is my take on the "Godzilla: Awakening" graphic novel, also intertwined with the rest of my stories. The main two kaiju here are, of course, Godzilla and Shinomura. Oh, and Methuselah is also here. Unfortunately, FFN does not have a character tag for Shinomura, but he's not an OC either. He is a canon Titan in the MonsterVerse(then again, after Legacy of Monsters, now I'm not sure).

Also, to address my absence for the past few months. I'm very sorry about that. Real life got in the way, hard. So, hopefully, I'll be back to regular writing.

35 Million Years Ago, Somewhere in Modern-Day Korea

Methuselah groaned, a low bellow ringing out.

Shinomura perked up at the sound, his six white eyes turning towards the head of the Mountainback.

His long serpentine body waved slightly, his black wings spread out wide.

The blue-ish creature let go of his grip, unlatching his jaws from the other Titan's rocky skin.

Methuselah groaned, turning to try and get a better look at the Blue Parasite.

Argh... Does this mean you're done?

Shinomura made a low call, his white eyes glowing brightly.

He screeched a bit too enthusiastically.

Nope! Not one bit! Uh... Do you want me to stop?

The older kaiju shook his head.

He stepped forward, his leg sloshing through the salty ocean water of the coastline.

No. It's fine. Besides, I don't have much of a choice, do I?

Shinomura replied with the same cheerfulness, which seemed completely unreasonable given the situation. Nope! I mean... I guess you could try getting rid of me?

The old Titan let out an exasperated bellow. Methuselah was never the best fighter. It got worse as he aged.

His kind can live without problems for an unfathomably long time, but they still have their limits.

He could fight. He could try and get rid of this Blue Parasite.

In his mind, there isn't exactly much of a point.

The smaller Titan can fly and is much more nimble. Attempting to fight back would only expend more energy and perhaps lead to him getting injured. The result would still be the same.

Besides, he can't help but feel a bit bad for this one.

The youngster is oblivious to his nature as a Blue Parasite. He doesn't even seem to realize that sucking energy out of another living creature is harmful.

Shinomura then flew down, away from the back of the larger creature.

Now, he can get a better look at the Mountainback's head.

Your name is Methuselah, right?

Methuselah bellowed in response, a simple yes being all he had to convey through the noise.

Shinomura can't stand on the ground, since his serpentine body doesn't have any legs, only two tendrils near the front of his body. Those two sharp things can somewhat act as forelimbs or claws, but barely.

The creature just landed on the ground, resting on his underbelly and tail, and his wings no longer have to flap.

You seem pretty nice. I've never talked to a Mountainback before.

Methuselah briefly made a sound that seemed like a chuckle. Then, he opened his jaws and bellowed.

I'm not surprised. You Blue Parasites are social creatures, but only among your own kind. I've hardly ever seen one of you talking peacefully to another Titan.

Methuselah turned his head, thinking he heard something nearby.

His white eyes could see nothing besides the natural environment around him and the blue-black exoskeleton of the other Titan.

Shinomura made a low warbling sound, flapping his black wings as he briefly flew upwards.

Then, he landed on Methuselah's back, resting his blue underbelly on the Mountainback's rocky skin. He did flatten a few trees that had been growing on there.

Now I almost feel bad for sucking radiation out of you. I think I'll go off and find someone else.

Methuselah bellowed, a relieved equivalent of a sigh.

That would be a relief.

Methuselah started walking out of the ocean and further inland.

His four legs sloshed through the blue salty liquid, quickly rising out of the not-very-deep water, at least not to him, and out onto the sandy beach.

Shinomura took off, flapping his two black wings once more.

His six glowing white eyes all looked down at the land-based Titan.

He made a roar, waving one of his forelimb-like tendrils.

See you around, Mountainback!

With that he, left, moving south.

Methuselah silently watched him leave.

In all the millions of years he's been alive, he never thought he'd feel bad for a Blue Parasite of all Titans.

Then, his head perked up.

His white eyes widened in alarm as he heard a pained cry from Shinomura and the enraged all-too-familiar roar of his Alpha.

He quickly picked up his pace, which wasn't much.

When he arrived, he instantly saw Shinomura flying towards him.

The Blue Parasite cowardly hid behind the larger Titan, peeking his head out from behind the top of Methuselah's mountain-like back.

Gojira roared again, his golden eyes glaring at the smaller Titan.

He snarled, his voice filled with rage and authority.

Methuselah, get out of the way!

Methuselah looked up at him.

He's far older and less adept at combat than the current King of the Monsters, but he isn't backing down. Not until he knows what Shinomura possibly did to deserve this.

Methuselah opened his jaws, his horns moving slightly. No, Alpha. Why are you doing this to Shinomura? I was just with him earlier.

The Atomic Breather's dorsal plates changed from black to glowing and flashing blue. His usual intimidation display.

Shinomura? That thing is a parasite! It deserves nothing less than to be blasted by my atomic breath.

He took a step forward, shaking the ground.

You should know that, old-timer. They're almost as bad as the Jinshin-Mushi. Are you not even slightly concerned that he was feeding on your energy?!

Methuselah shook his head.

Alpha. Shinomura is not like others of his kind. He is younger, more innocent, and doesn't know what harm he causes when-

The Mountainback's bellow was cut off by an angry roar from the larger Titan.

A parasite is still a parasite.

Godzilla then opened his jaws and fired his atomic breath.

He deliberately aimed it at the ground in front of Methuselah. He won't harm his oldest subject, but he needs a stern lesson, warning, and scare right now.

Methuselah cried out, his white eyes widening in fear as the blue beam of pure atomic energy struck the ground near one of his legs.

He took a panicked step back, lifting that leg off the ground.

Shinomura warbled in surprise, also being forced to move back since he was still hiding behind the other Titan.

Methuselah bellowed, trying to hide the obvious fear in his voice.

Alpha, what was that for?

Then, Shinomura flew out from behind Methuselah, his black wings flapping.

Hey, you want me, don't you!? Leave Methuselah alone!

Godzilla snarled, his golden eyes narrowing.

Fine then, parasite!

Godzilla immediately fired his atomic breath at the Blue Parasite.

Shinomura warbled loudly, barely dodging the blast.

He made another roar, his tone taunting.

Catch me if you can, Atomic Breather!

With that, he turned and flew out over the Sea of Japan.

Godzilla snarled in annoyance. Damn, parasite...

He turned to look at Methuselah briefly. For a moment, he felt bad. He almost attacked the old-timer. Then, he shook his head. He'll apologize to the elder Mountainback later.

After he gets rid of this Blue Parasite.

Godzilla then turned to the ocean and went in, swimming after him.

Methuselah sighed, his white eyes watching the direction they both went in.

Good luck, Shinomura... You'll need it.

1945

Magadan, USSR

Shinomura roared as he flew towards the clump of nests up ahead.

As he approached, he almost cooed, his many white eyes wide in fascination.

Ooh! Bipeds! Small things are just so adorable!

The Blue Parasite flapped his giant black wings, moving through the sky with ease.

He landed on a small biped nest. As his prehensile tail wrapped around it, the structure was crushed by the pressure and weight of the Titan. Yet, he seemed oblivious to the damage he caused, and the screams of fear and pain from the residents of that home.

It's so good to be awake again! Don't you small ones agree?

As if he were expecting a response, he looked around.

The bipeds are running everywhere, screaming in panic.

Monsters were just stories. Myths. Legends. Tall tales. Mythology.

Yet, a giant creature out of a monster story is in their isolated Siberian town.

Shinomura is glad to be awake, but he hasn't found much radiation yet.

He was only roused from dormancy after sensing two large spikes of radiation somewhere in the world.

He didn't think much of the first one. Maybe just an isolated occurrence. A one-time thing. Waking up wouldn't be a good idea yet. Then, the second one went off so soon afterward, it felt like only a few days had passed.

That was it for the Blue Parasite.

He woke himself up from slumber, and out of that stupid fissure he fell into so long ago.

He can't quite remember how or why that happened. His memory of that time is foggy. Although, he could recall fighting or running away from the Alpha.

Yet, things have changed.

Those bipeds are just about everywhere now.

They've also changed.

They appear to be a bit jumpier around him.

Don't they remember that his kind doesn't normally bother attacking them?

Usually, a lone individual, or even a swarm of Blue Parasites, doesn't mess with them at all.

Why would they?

Bipeds don't have radiation. As a food source, there are bigger and better options there. Thirdly, quite a few kaiju care enough to protect them.

A Swarm of Death should never bother a biped bunch of nests.

That is how it used to be, at the very least.

Now, they're the ones with radiation.

There's no other explanation.

Whatever those two spikes of radioactive energy were, they weren't natural.

There's no other potential culprit besides them.

Shinomura warbled as he looked around.

This snowy place seems pretty lacking in food unless he wants to consume the small mammals themselves.

Yet, why would he do that?

Hm... Come on bipeds. I know you guys can make radiation, so where is the rest?

Then, the retaliation began.

Local stations of the Red Army began firing at Shinomura and called for reinforcements.

The Titan warbled in curiosity as he looked down at one of the bipeds.

His skin is white, but it looks like the things covering his body are brown. The small thing is holding some sort of small brown stick thing in his arms, pointed at him.

Then, he briefly felt something hit his blue armor.

The creature made a confused sound, looking around.

One of his two tendrils, the closest thing his kind has to arms, swiped at a human nest, obliterating it.

Whatever that thing was, it almost felt like a raindrop.

It didn't hurt at all. He barely felt it, but he'd never felt anything like that before. It's weird.

Shinomura looked down at the biped again.

He's making loud noises while still pointing that stick at him. Then, he felt that strange sensation again, this time near his jaw.

Are you the one doing this? What are you even trying to do? It almost tickles.

Shinomura took off, his tail accidentally destroying another biped nest as it hit one right before he flew high enough.

The Titan roared, the loud sound echoing as he left behind the Russian coastal town.

Soviet officials and Monarch quickly swept the incident under the rug. Thousands had seen Shinomura, and if word got out, the MUTO would cause panic. Nobody wants that while they're still trying to rebuild from a second devastating global war.

Monarch, as an organization, would have to further their efforts. This giant flying creature entered a significant town. The organization had to progress before the military got too impatient.

1946

Guiuan, Philippines

Shinomura loudly as he approached another clump of biped nests.

Right as he was above the edge of the shoreline, the winged parasite turned around.

Will you stop following me?!

His request was met with no answer.

Then, rows of black dorsal plates rose out of the surface of the water, slicing through the ocean surface without effort.

A low call then filled the air, obviously from the second creature in the water.

Shinomura growled. His tail flicked aggressively toward the threat, destroying a biped nest in the process.

What do you want from me?!

Shinomura flew lower to the ground. Still no verbal response from the other Titan.

Do you want to know something? Well, I'm scared of you, okay!? Just leave me be!

Then, the other Titan finally rose out of the water.

Now Shinomura recognizes him.

Those amber eyes. His charcoal black scales. The blue glow of his dorsal plates. That ever-present glare.

You... Why are you still following me?

Gojira roared, moving into a run as he approached Shinomura.

He quickly halted upon hearing the screams of the humans nearby.

He halted his steps, barely sparing a human home from being crushed under one of his giant legs.

He snarled, getting a better look at the area.

There's no way to get to that Blue Parasite without crushing more human nests, and invariably, the owners of those homes.

He growled, exposing some of his sharp teeth. His eyes glared at the flying Titan.

Shinomura noticed how he paused. Then, an idea entered his mind.

Oh, you care for the bipeds, don't you?

The roar was mocking. Then, he flicked his tail, smashing a biped nest into rubble.

Then, he slammed one of his forelimbs into another nearby strange nest.

Well, how do you like it if I mess with them for no reason, huh? Like you're doing with me!

Godzilla was about to burst with anger.

The humans are innocent in this conflict.

Yes, they were probably the ones that woke up this guy, but it was likely an accident. After all, it seems like they've almost entirely forgotten about the ancient creatures they worshiped or feared. The ones they coexisted with so long ago.

There's no way they'd intentionally wake up any monster, especially a parasite of all things.

Shinomura. Get away from those human nests. My quarrel is with you, and you don't want to get them involved.

The black-winged kaiju snarled, dangling his tail above another biped home.

So, they're called humans, then? And you want me to not attack them? Ha! You wish. You are the one attacking me for no reason. So, why don't I do the same to something you seem to care for? It seems like a fair trade, don't you think so, "Alpha"?

The way he said the title with such hatred and loathing. He wouldn't bow. Not like that matters. Gojira doesn't want to make this Blue Parasite bow.

He just wants it dead. The King of the Monsters will not tolerate any parasitic species. The Jinshin-Mushi are all but dead. He just needs to find and get rid of Prime.

As for these blue energy-sucking pests, he thought that they were extinct. He was wrong.

His dorsal plates stopped flashing blue in an intimidation display. Now, they'll stay blue.

He opened his jaws wide, and with a simple thought, fired a blast of his kind's signature blue atomic breath.

Shinomura cried out in fear. His white eyes widened in pain and shock as the blast hit one of his wings.

The winged Titan crashed onto the ground, destroying numerous human nests in the process.

The Blue Parasite hissed in pain, taking flight once.

He roared at the other Titan, his jaws opening wide.

It's been millions of years. Will you just give up and leave me alone? We're the only ones awake, as far as I know. I swear, I won't bother anyone who's dormant.

Gojira snarled. He wasn't even going to consider that offer.

He's not stopping until this thing is dead.

Seeing that the Alpha had no intention of backing down, Shinomura flapped his black wings even more, going even higher upward.

Shinomura roared down to the Atomic Breather. Catch me if you can, moronic lizard!

Gojira growled in annoyance at the insult. He turned back into the ocean, ready to swim off and keep following the other Titan.

What neither realized was that when Shinomura got blasted by Gojira's atomic breath, a small piece of his wing fell off, left behind for a certain zoological organization to end up finding.

1953

Gisborne, New Zealand

Shinomura was thrown right into a huge human nest, obliterating it in the process.

He cried out in pain, shutting his white eyes momentarily.

Growing bigger by consuming more radiation isn't that helpful when fighting a more powerful opponent.

He is larger than when he last saw the Atomic Breather, but not by much. Barely a noticeable difference.

Any concern about growing big enough to "blot out the sun" seems like utter nonsense to him. No Blue Parasite has ever grown that large.

Godzilla roared as he approached the downed flying kaiju, carefully trying to get around some human nests, but it was impossible to avoid crushing their homes. He can at least try not to crush the mammals themselves.

Shinomura was a bit dazed as he slowly got up, flapping his black wings.

His blue armor was hit violently by Gojira's sharp claws.

Shinomura retaliated, biting his jaws into Godzilla's neck.

The charcoal black creature roared in pain, feeling his neck start to bleed and radioactive energy being siphoned out.

Gojira swung his body around, forcing the other Titan to let go.

Shinomura quickly took flight, out of reach of his foe's melee attacks.

Gojira's dorsal plates started to glow blue, and then a similarly colored blast of atomic breath was blasted into the sky.

The Blue Parasite struggled to avoid the beam as it continuously followed him.

Then, he ducked downwards, only to get hit anyway.

He cried out in pain as it tore into his underbelly. His kind is very frail for their size as Titans. They can't withstand much at all.

Gojira stopped firing. Shinomura roared in fury, flying right at him.

Then, the flying creature's prehensile tail wrapped around Gojira and began to drag him around.

Godzilla tried to fight back, but the parasite was just pulling him along for a short distance. It let go, sending him stumbling and then falling to the ground, crushing numerous human structures.

Shinomura huffed, a bit tired.

Geez, you're really heavy. How do you even move so fast?

Gojira didn't respond to the other Titan's question. Instead, he just roared in fury, ready to continue his attack.

Godzilla and Shinomura kept going back and forth, each landing blows on the other. However, the King of the Monsters is slowly winning.

Shinomura isn't that experienced in combat. As more of a scavenger than a parasite, he doesn't have to fight to earn his food or defend himself that often.

The Blue Parasite had enough.

He roared in a bitter tone, obviously angry.

You are really getting annoying, Atomic Breather. Just leave me be, or I'll have to kill you in retaliation.

Shinomura turned and fled out over the open ocean once more.

The Alpha roared in anger. That coward just keeps running after a short argument or brawl every single time.

This thing is getting annoying.

He's killed so many of these pests already, so why is he having so much trouble fighting one of them?

He must have gotten out of shape or slightly weaker after spending so much time in dormancy doing nothing.

No matter. He'll catch up to it again. Then, he won't give the thing a chance to escape. Not again.

Hm... Perhaps he could wake up Bunyip.

He knows that mammal has a large hatred for the Blue Parasites.

Yes, the platypus probably wouldn't do much against a flying Titan, but that fighting spirit and drive to kill would be of some help.

No.

No, not a good idea. The last thing I need is for even more Titans to rise from dormancy.

Gojira slowly lumbered out of the partially damaged human clump of nests and into the ocean.

The chase is on once more.

March 1st, 1954

Bikini Atoll, United States

Shinomura cried out in fear, barely dodging a blast of atomic breath.

He could feel the heat searing at the tip of one of his black wings.

He can't handle many of those hits, especially not direct ones to his body.

It's why he's been running this whole time instead of staying to fight for more than a few minutes.

For some ungodly reason, somehow, along the whole line of evolution or adaption, whatever it is, Blue Parasites are extremely frail for their size compared to other Titans.

Shinomura is internally cursing whatever bad luck got his species to be this weak at physical combat or durability.

Gojira roared, lifting his head out of the water.

Then, he reached shallower water near one of the islands.

Gojira's legs hit the seafloor, and he slowly rose to his full height.

Shinomura turned around, looking down at Gojira. You just don't give up, do you?

The Atomic Breather snarled back. I'm not giving up until you're a lifeless corpse, parasite!

Shinomura flew lower, down towards Gojira.

He screeched loudly, spreading his black wings wide. I shouldn't have even asked. I've had enough of you chasing me! Don't you have something better to do? Go back into dormancy or go bother some other Titan!

The King of the Monsters snarled.

He can't quite put his claw on it, but he has a strange feeling that, somehow, this fight might be the end of it.

His line of thinking was interrupted as Shinomura slammed into him.

The parasite's scorpion-like tail hit his head as he quickly flew past the Atomic Breather.

Godzilla cried out in pain, closing his golden eyes shut as he recoiled from the blow. Then, he felt some liquid on his black scales, and it started to hurt. The parasite made him bleed.

Gojira turned his head around to face Shinomura, absolutely enraged. His dorsal plates turned from black to blue once more. Then, his eyes changed from their golden color to a pure blue glow.

The blast of atomic breath narrowly missed the Blue Parasite.

The winged Titan roared angrily as he dodged the blue blast of radioactive power. Then, it hit him. Shinomura cried out in pain, falling to the sandy beach below.

He groaned as he slowly got back up. He spread his black wings wide, desperate to take off again and get some height before-

He didn't get the chance, as Gojira was already upon him.

The larger Titan's sharp claws slashed at Shinomura's blue scales, making him cry out in pain. His six white eyes narrowed in response, he tried to retaliate by hitting Godzilla with his two tendril-like forelimbs.

He didn't even flinch.

Then, right as Godzilla was about to retaliate, both Titans sensed a sudden spike in radiation nearby.

Godzilla looked around, growling. What's that?

Before Shinomura could voice his own opinion or do something against Godzilla, a blinding light went off nearby.

Godzilla released Shinomura from his grip, and both turned to look, their eyes squinting.

Then, the blast wave passed over them, knocking over trees and destroying anything smaller on the atoll.

Shinomura's six white eyes widened on the strange cloud. It almost resembles a giant mushroom.

He started to try backing up, moving behind Godzilla.

Then, they were both engulfed in a wall of fire as the radioactive blast reached them.

Shinomura groaned as he woke up.

His six white eyes blinked repeatedly.

He lifted his head off the ground, looking around the destroyed ruins of the atoll.

He can sense a lot of radiation here. The only reason he can think of is that weird explosion.

Shinomura flapped his black wings. His entire body hurts.

Blue Parasites are a more fragile species of Titan, so he was expecting his injuries to be a lot worse. However, he's mostly fine.

Looking around, he can see no sign of the Atomic Breather.

Shinomura took flight, getting his underbelly off the sand.

Looking at the area from up in the air, he still can't see any sign of his pursuer.

Shinomura roared, trying to see if that would draw him back out or warrant at least some sort of response.

Nothing.

Okay... There's no way he's dead... but... I'm still alive.

Shinomura has no idea what caused that explosion. Or why.

Maybe the bipeds, err... humans, whatever they're called, caused it. Honestly, he doesn't know and doesn't care. All that matters is that he's still alive and Godzilla is nowhere in sight.

The good thing is that Godzilla isn't anywhere nearby. At least, as far as he can tell.

The last thing he wants is to keep fighting or fleeing from him again.

And he has the perfect opportunity to try and slip away unnoticed while he's not here.

So, Shinomura came up with a new plan.

Instead of just roaming the Pacific Ocean and causing havoc for the humans and trying to find radiation, he's just to go a random island, and stay there.

That way, he'll be hidden from the Alpha and hopefully never have to face his wrath again.

He warbled to himself, somewhat shakily.

Yeah, that's a plan. That's something. Anything is better than just staying here.

With that, he chose a random direction. East.

Further out into the Pacific Ocean.

Although, if his memory isn't off, if he goes too far this way, he'll end up at one of the continents.

The last thing he wants is to accidentally run into Sargon, Quetzalcoatl, or whichever other Titans live along the Andes Mountains.

He turned that way and started flapping his black wings. As soon as he finds an island that doesn't have any humans on it, or have other Titans dormant nearby, he's stopping there.

That should keep him hidden and pretty safe.

As for food, it's not radiation, but he can settle for going after whales, orcas, or some megafauna marine life.

Hopefully, he never has to see Godzilla again.

Now, I did see episode 3 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. I refuse to accept that Shinomura has been retconned out of being canon. Also, I'm not changing my established stories just to fit new MonsterVerse stuff. Shinomura is one of my favorite original monsters made by Legendary, so... yeah. The show is still good though.
