Chapter 86 – Life Day's Eve
It was Life Day's Eve, and the Temple was really chaotic, with everyone preparing everything for dinner's Eve.
After preparing everything during the morning, and after they had lunch, they came back to Temple, to preparing the tables.
At that moment, Luke and Ahsoka were putting two of the big tables in the cafeteria, where the kids eat during classes, in the center of the Temple, near the big Life Day's tree, using the force, since it was easier.
"I'm glad that at least we have you force users to do stuff like that," Noa said approaching. "It would take a lot of effort for us to take these two big tables from there to here."
"No problem, Noa," Ahsoka smiled wrapping her right arm around the old man, looking at the table that were set in an L form.
Ines, Leia and Gracy came with the tablecloths, ready to set the tables.
"Oh, the place is perfect, near this beautiful tree," Gracy said approaching them.
"I agree," Leia nod. "Way better than we eat in the cafeteria."
"And at least we can watch the kids playing, cause you know they would want to play around the tree," Ines said making everyone nod in agreement.
"Now you two," Leia said pointing at Han, Luke and Dan, "Can you at least help us, and go to the kitchen, and bring the plates, and spoons, forks and knives and the glasses, while we put the tablecloths?"
"Yes ma'am," Dan said.
"What a bossy my twin sister is."
"Like you don't know that," Han said, while they head towards the kitchen, making the girls shake their heads at them.
"Men!" Ines replied.
"We heard that!" Luke yelled, making Ines laugh.
While the men were in the kitchen, Ines, Leia, Gracy and Ahsoka were putting the tablecloths and the garlands as center pieces with candles and pine cones inside it.
"That looks beautiful!" Ahsoka said looking at it.
"We used to have that in our tables back in Alderaan," Leia smiled, when Luke, Han and Dan came with the plates and glasses and cutlery so set the table.
"Wow, look, is like we did in Alderaan," Dan said right away. "That brings memories."
"I know right," his wife said smiling too.
At that moment, Hera and Jacen came inside the Temple, holding two plates of desserts, while Jacen had a paper bag in his hands.
"Hey everyone," Jacen said, as they approached them.
"Hello," Gracy said.
"Jacen and I decided to bring the desserts right away," Hera said.
"I will take them to the kitchen," Noa said.
"I'll help," Jacen said, giving the paper bag to his mother, while he took one of the deserts and followed the old man towards the kitchen.
Hera smiled looking at the table.
"The tables looks beautiful decorate. How many people are we tonight?"
"Well," Ines started to count. "6 from our home. 5 from Leia's. Then 5 from my brothers home, 3 from my mother in law home, 3 from Noa and Aurea, and 2 from your home. So we are 24 in total. And the two droids."
"But at least those don't eat," Han said.
"I can't wait, and by the way, Jacen and I bought something to put on the table, too, if you don't mind." Hera said putting the bag on top of one of the chairs and took our the tiny Life Tree, that after pressing a button, it turn on the lights that it had.
The moment baby Luke saw that, he ran towards Hera, sucking his pacifier and pointing at it.
"Someone loved it," Luke said smiling at his son.
Picking the toddler, Hera smiled at him.
"Do you like it?" she asked, laughing when the toddler nod and looked at her.
"Let's put the others on the table and see how it looks like," Leia said, and they all took the other tiny trees, and light them on, which gave the table even more of a Life day environment.
"I love it," Gracy nod.
"Here let's put this one on the table," Hera said and looked at Luke, "And after this, you can have one, okay?" she asked kissing the toddler forehead, who nod at her smiling. "You are cute," she said putting him on the floor, smiling when the baby tried to see the tiny trees.
"He loves lights," Han laughed at his nephew.
"We thought that look so beautiful on the table," Hera replied.
"And it does." Dan replied.
"Is everything you guys need? After all is 3pm, so we still have a few hours before we go home, take a shower and get dress," Hera asked them.
"Well the table is set, the deserts are all in the fridge. The entrées are complete and all we need is to put the meat and the veggie and fish and original lasagna in the oven and fried the potatoes. The rice is already in the pan, and the soup for the kids are made. All we need to do is salad since the fruit salad is also done. But Aurea said that she, Noa and Cindel will be here the whole afternoon, and dress here."
"The dinner is at 7pm, but we can arrive at 6 and help with the last things, which it wont take time," Luke said.
"Then Jacen and I we are going home, get ready and come here to help around that time too," Hera said, at the same time Jacen appeared with Noa from the kitchen.
"Don't worry, we will go soon, cause giving bath to the kids will take time," Han nod looking at his wife.
"Then see you all in a few hours," Hera nod and they left.
"So are we going too, cause let's face Iris will take a quick shower, but you know how the boys are when the subject is taking a bath," Leia giggled, looking at her boys who, as usual were running around with his cousins. "Besides 3PO will stay here to help Aurea, right?"
"Anything I can do to help, your highness," the protocol droid said right away.
"Then let's go," Han replied.
"We are going too, right?" Dan asked to his wife, who nod. "Then I will call my father," he said walking towards the kitchen.
The moment everyone came out from the kitchen, getting ready to leave to take showers and dresses, they all heard a female voice coming from the entrance of the Temple.
"May I come in?"
Looking back, they saw Mon Mothma with her driver, caring tones of bags.
"My friend," Amidala said, welcoming her with a hug. "Of course you can come in."
They walked towards the others, where everyone say hello to her.
"Happy Life Day," Leia and Ines said hugging her.
"Thank you, Happy Life Day to all of you," Mon Mothma said smiling to everyone.
"I thought you were in Chandrila to spend Life Day?" Amidala replied.
"Well this year, my daughter parents in law decided to make the dinner here in their apartment, and of course my husband and I were also invited and if we said no, you all know the gossip that would be. So we will spend Life Day's dinner there."
"Good luck," Ken Sr replied, making Ines looking at her father.
"Father!"
"That's okay, your father is right, I will really need luck. But maybe it will be a nice night, which I doubt it," Mon Mothma said making everyone look at her with a sympathetic look. "But since I just came from the Senate right now, and before I go home a get ready, I decided to come here and leave some presents for the kids that I decided to buy."
"Oh, you didn't need to do that," Luke replied.
"It was a pleasure, trust me."
The moment he heard presents, Bail came running towards them and looked up at her.
"Presents? I want to see it," the boy said right away.
"No, those presents, will be take from us right now and father and I will put under the tree, and you will opened along siblings tomorrow morning. Understood?"
Bail frown at his mother.
"Come on, that's not fair," he said pout crossing his arms in front of his chest.
"Bail Solo, what did I say about manners?" Leia replied.
"Okay," he replied.
"That is not the word I want to hear and we taught you, young man!"
"I'm sorry mama."
"Good, go back to your brother cause we are leaving soon," she said looking at him and then to Mon. "The terrible almost 5."
"Trust me, I know." she laughed. "So here it is. Each present as the kids name."
"Thank you," Ines nod taking the bags for her kids. "Happy Life Day."
"You too. See you at the wedding then," she replied and after saying the goodbyes, she left with a driver.
"And we better do the same if we want to be here around 6," Gracy said.
"True," Ines nod. "We will be here to help to put everything on the table okay Aurea."
"Just go. What we need to do will be quick," the old lady smiled.
And with a nod and a see you later, they all left to their homes to get ready for Life Day's dinner,
Life Day's Eve is finally here. I think the table must look awesome.
