Yang saw a familiar scene in front of her, and a figure accompanying it. It was a familiar woman with her back towards her showing a long and wild dark hair, she was cooking. Yang deduced judging by the movement of her arms, "Mom?" She called out. The woman stopped and turned to look towards the blonde, "Yes Yang? Is something the matter?" her mother called out, flashing her a gentle and caring smile. "B-but how?! you're…" Yang stammered out, "I know sweetie." Raven replied and walked towards her daughter.
"But… how? Why are you here?" Yang mumbled as her mother now stood in front of her, giving no reply Raven only stood there and gave her another smile and a nod. "Oh look how you've grown, you were still smaller when I last saw you." Her mother replied not answering her questions. Before Raven pulled Yang for a hug, "Mom!?- what are you-!?" Yang tried to protest, but was quickly silenced as her mother whispered something in her ear. Something she could not hear clearly.
The beeping was the first sound that that Yang heard as she slowly opened her eyes to a white ceiling. She felt her head spin and in pain as she took a deep breath and noticed that the air around her smelled off, she turned to her side and noticed a heart monitor. Looking around again she noticed that almost everything in the room was white, still feeling that her mind is hazy she failed to process where she is. Before hearing the sound of a door opening, and quickly she turned towards that direction. And saw a woman wearing a nurse uniform enter with a trolley carrying fresh bags of IV fluid on it.
The nurse stopped mid-way towards her side as she noticed Yang staring at her with squinted eyes, and immediately she went to the landline phone connecting to the front desk beside the door she used to come in. "Hello this is room 63 please call Doctor Bjorn, and inform her that her patient has just woken up…. Thank you." Yang heard the nurse say through the phone and watched as the nurse strode towards her and leaned in. "Good morning Ms. Xiao-long, do you feel alright? Is there anything you need? Do you know where you currently are?" the nurse asked Yang who looked confused, "W-water please, where am I? " she spluttered out.
"You're currently at St. Ozburn's private hospital, you were sent here three days ago after you were involved in an attempted kidnapping." The nurse replied as she grabbed an empty cup and filled it with water using a pitch on top of a desk next to Yang's bed and handed it to her, drinking from the glass cup Yang's eyes widened in realization. "Did you just say three days? It's Monday?" She asked the nurse who nodded. "I see… does my dad know?" Yang asked again, "We've informed your father, I believe that he'd visited you here up until yesterday. The hospital has already informed your father of your recovery." Replied the nurse, "And if you want anything please press the button next to your bed." Said the nurse as she went out the door, leaving Yang alone for the time being to assess and try to remember the last thing she saw.
And slowly bits and pieces came together, first was the fight she had with her father then when she stormed out of the house, and next was when she found herself sitting on a swing. And finally, a persons shoe just as she passed out. "Yes… I remember now" Yang muttered to no but herself, "Who was that guy?" asked herself as she looked out of the open window waiting for her father and doctor to arrive.
30 minutes, that's all it took for Yang to wait as Tai walked inside of the door with the doctor following him soon after with a board clip in her hand. "Ms. Xiao Long good morning, I'm your doctor my name is Eli Bjorn. Call me whatever you like." The doctor introduced herself as she gave Yang a polite smile. "Now before I leave you both I'd like to ask you some questions first procedures and all that, I hope that you understand." Dr. Bjorn added, "Sure… why not…" Yang said as she fiddled with her thumbs and gave her father a look. "Great! Let's start with the fist question. Do you feel any dizziness? Nausea? Any headaches?" the doctor asked. And shook her head no, "Alright… that's good. Noticed any pain in your any part of your body?" and once again Yang shook her head. "I see… and for the last question; feel any shortness of breath or a stab of pain when you inhale any air?" "No." this time Yang answered verbally.
Checking the boxes on clip board the female doctor turned towards Tai, "There's nothing wrong with her, though we might have to do a physical examination later on. Not for now I'll leave you both to your business." Dr. Bjorn said as she left and Tai giving her a nod and a thanks as she closed the door behind her. Leaving the father and daughter duo to stay silent for a few moments. Creating an awkward atmosphere. It wasn't when Yang spoke that the atmosphere changed, "…. Are…. Are you mad at me?..." Yang asked her father quietly as she gripped the blanket covering her legs.
Causing Tai to whip his head towards her "What? No! Why would you think that?" he quickly asked as he strode towards his daughter, grabbing a chair and sat next to his daughters bed. "The things I said when I stormed out…. It was out of line." Yang replied as turned to look her father in the eye. "You're right." Tai said making Yang look down once more, "No I meant was that you were right, about the things you said. I understand, You're still mourning the loss of your mother and I was too stubborn and forced you to move on, in truth I should've been the one apologizing if I hadn't said the things I've said you wouldn't be in this room…" She heard her father say as she felt him grab her hand. She looked towards her father as saw tears threatening to spill down his eyes.
She hadn't seen her father cry since her mom died, and even then it was only after the casket was buried and when he thought that there was no one in the house except for him. So Yang did the only thing she could and hugged her father, comforting him. "It's ok dad, it's not your fault… you were just worried about me." Yang said as she patted her father's back.
More time has passed and Dr. Bjorn came back again took Yang's physical exam, and showing her the results and once those were finished and Yang came out healthy allowing the doctor to give her clearance so that she can leave the hospital. But as soon as that finished and she was announced as healthy and is able to leave the hospital Yang and Tai walked to the hospitals parking lot, "When will they arrive? Aunt Summer I mean." Yang asked as she entered the car and sitting in the passengers seat. "Just last Saturday, when they heard that you were on the hospital the rushed here quickly as they could." Replied Tai as she entered and started the engine, "They're staying at the guestrooms I already told them that you'd be released today so probably expect a surprise when you enter the house." Tai said as he reversed the car. "I see…. Good to know then." Yang said looking forward at whatever surprise they've got for her.
The ride home was quite, even though they've reconciled earlier there's still an awkward atmosphere between the two. And upon arriving home, Yang entered their house and was greeted by a red blur slamming right on her torso making the blond teen to take a step back after almost being tackled. "You're back!!!" Yang heard coming from her assailant and immediately she knew who it was, "Hi to you to Ruby. And what did we say about you tackling people?" Yang said as she patted her cousins back, "Not to do it, but it's just that I missed you so much! Then we heard about the accident and and-!" Ruby said hugging her cousin.
"Ruby that's enough, Yang just got out of the hospital give her a break." A kind voice said from across the hallway. And both of the girls turned and saw a woman looking identical to Ruby only older mature looking. "Hi aunt Summer." Yang greeted with a smile and Summer smiled kindly in return, "Hello to you too Yang." The older woman said returning the greeting. "Now come along, your uncle Qrow is in the kitchen waiting and better hurry up before he eats up the surprise I made." Summer said as she walked back into the kitchen. "Mom wait up! Don't let Dad eat it all!" Ruby exclaimed as she chased after her mother.
"Told you that they'll have a surprise waiting." Yang turned around as saw her father walking up to the front porch, "And so you did, now come on before Qrow eats up all the food that aunt Summer made." And with that said her father entered their house, Yang stood in the front porch watching as her father enter as she was about to follow she remembered the strange dream she had before she had woken up from the hospital, the inaudible words that her mother whispered in her ear before she awoke. Yang stood there pondering before she heard Aunt Summer call out her name. "Ah! Coming!" the blonde teen said before she ran inside.
