Chapter 42- The Final Battle, Part 3

With Amy & Bunnie

Amy hits Zeena with a flicker of nine consecutive attacks that flow and weave in on themselves, where a storm of heart-shaped blasts are released. Zeena barely avoids it with some effort, before sending miniature bombs at amazing speeds, which Amy manages to fend off by releasing several rotating hammer swings that deflect the incoming bombs.

Zeena analyses the change in Amy's fighting style, noting its pros and cons. "As opposed to how other fighters take into account their opponent's abilities and aims to predict and counter them…She's only geared towards a relentless offensive charge with projectiles backing her up…what a drag."

Zeena goes behind Amy's line of sight, speed blitzing her and strives to slice off Amy's head with her daggers chained together. Without looking, Amy instinctively jumps above the slash, upside down face-to-face with Zeena and hurls a savage acrobatic strike to her face.

Zeena skids backwards from the blow, in shock at what just happened. "S…S…She…did a no-look bicycle kick on me…How…How…HOW!"

Before she has the time to recuperate her thoughts, Amy raises her hand with her hammer and descends her hand downwards, send forth a number of heart-shaped spheres crashing down several metres in front of Zeena. She just barely avoids them, as the spheres itself left craters in their wake. At that moment, Bunnie readies her arm cannon behind Zeena.

Zeena tries to stop her from doing so with her multiple bladed and flexible whips, Bunnie shifts her arm cannon for razor-sharp blades and slices everything up from all directions.

Amy and Bunnie rushes at Zeena at both sides, who exasperatedly shouts out a firm declaration. "MAGGOTS! THAT IS ALL YOU ARE, BRING IT ON THEM…I WILL SLAUGHTER YOU ALL!"

The three launched their respective skills and techniques at each other at alarming rates.

With Mighty & Surge

Standing side-by-side, Mighty and Surge transform into their full power states, and attack Kaze simultaneously. The duo's well-coordinated mashup assault forced Kaze to use his maximum power compressing the wind and converting it into a powerful gale on every side of his body that knocked back Mighty and Surge.

exhaling compressed air into a solitary blade of wind, Mighty took the brunt of the resulting sharpened blast, only for Kaze to close the distance between them, cladding his fist with a sufficient amount of wind to form somewhat of a typhoon that is a revolving blade of wind. Upon impact, the move pierces through Mighty's defences and blows him away with a shock wave.

Surge retaliates back with a variant of Kaze's move with her electromagnetic propulsion, the collision between their elemental attacks send the two of them flying.

Realising the futility of their clash with Kaze, Mighty recommends a proposition to Surge. "I would hold him off as best I could…if I am either defeated or heavily damaged…take my place, alright?"

Surge nods back at Mighty, and begins powering up. Mighty fights off Kaze solo, landing a furious punch to Kaze's face after enduring his sharp wind currents in the form of a net to slice him apart.

Kaze is confused by Mighty's increased endurance, despite the extensive damage to his body. ""

Mighty merely chuckles at Kaze's state of confusion, boasting his superior durability. "My defence gets stronger when against great hardship…you really plan on defeating me with those pity attacks!"

As they continue to clash, Mighty now gets in some solid blows of his own. Mighty gives it his all to tire out Kaze, forced to use his ultimate move: Wild Cannon Bullet.

Kaze shoots small, powerful and near-invisible blasts of wind that penetrate his enemies weak points, stating its destructive force. "Aimed at your weak points inflicting major internal damage to your body, no one has ever surviv…"

To his horror, Mighty with certain difficulty returned to his feet. "Ha…ha…ha…what were you going to say…that no one survived your attack, huh?"

Mighty makes a beeline for Kaze, who urgently puts his guard to defend himself. Mighty collapses on one knee, reaching the end of his adrenaline rush. Kaze conjures up a wind blade in order to finish off Mighty while he still can, a raging discharge of electricity makes him stop mid-way. Surge ploughs Kaze's face with a fist full of fury, her eyes had become fully red with black pupils with her hair even more spiked up. The bio-electricity surrounding changes colours with its usual blue colour being replaced with a mint coloured one.

With Espio

Before Espio could land his final slash, Kazoku fires a large energy beam at close range. Espio bends backwards to evade, as the beam goes into the air. Kazoku weaves a few distinct hand signs for the beam to split into smaller, but faster energy spheres aimed for his opponent. Episo enforced both the Mizu and Taiyo style for defence and offence, side-stepping one half of the spheres and returning fire the other with equal force. Espio tries an swift elbow strike at Kazoku, but the latter parries the hit with his forearm.

Kazoku countered with a right hook empowered by his explosive energy output, proclaiming to Espio. "It is time for them to bring our fight to an end, don't you think?"

Espio takes on a well defined stance, clearing away the thoughts of defeat. "You're right, it is!"

Both fighters locked them in a speedy trade-off, Espio goes for a diving punch that nearly smashes Kazoku's face. Mid-way in their exchange. Both fighters have their backs to each other and are turning around to attack, impassioned by their coexisted desires.

Kazoku: "This may have been the greatest fight I had experienced, however for Chronos' plans to succeed, I will defeat you…Espio!"

Espio: "There is no mistaking it, you are a very skilled individual, Kazoku. But, to win this war for everybody's sake, I will defeat you…Kazoku!"

Espio draws his kunai, readying to unleash his Slash of the Heavenly Mizu and Taiyo, Kazoku places his palm out for his Maximum Piercing Stream. Everyone for a moment stopped fighting, once they saw an expansive explosion in the centre of the battlefield.

At Angel Island, Sonic and Shadow had successfully arrived back to the present. From afar, they could sense everyone's energy signature and a couple of familiar ones.

Sonic notes that their friends are probably fighting Infinite and his forces, Shadow comments on something that Elise told them before they left their time period. "...Chaos Unification…we unconsciously used that to defeat Shi…if possible, we could beat Infinite with it."

Sonic looks back at Shadow, surprised that he mentioned that. "...Yea, you're right…but how?"

Shadow scans the area, and believes they would find the answer where they are. "Well, for starters we are at Angel Island. Elise was from the Knuckles Clan, who originally resided in the same island we are at."

The hedgehog duo are back! With the idea of using Chaos Unification on their mind, find out what happen next in the next chapter.
