Chapter 43- The Final Battle, Part 3

Sonic gazes back at Shadow, and bobs his head down. "Yea, if we want the answer to reactivate Chaos Unification, it would be somewhere at Angel Island. Alright! Let's do it to it!"

Sonic and Shadow both search all over Angel Island as a result, clearing away debris and whatnot. In the end they found a hatch that would take them deep underground, so the two dashed down the stairs passing Hydrocity. Sonic and Shadow discovered an unknown room full of uncharted technology and paintings depicting four colossal robots, before noticing an large, throne-like structure made of pieces of solid rock and undefined black material.

Shadow carefully inspects the throne-like structure, unsure what it could be. "This must be inactive for over 3,000 years, to have this much moss having formed around it."

Sonic touches the midsection of the unidentified construction, unknowingly activating it as magenta digital energy is seen moving on the black material between rock gaps and pierced splat part of the structure. This transported Sonic and Shadow to a unique digital world, where they are faced against with four figures.

Back At Chronos's Imperial Fortress

Shiki gunned down a couple of rock pillars protruding from the ground to skewer Silver advancing towards him. Silver coated himself with his psychic energy as a skin-tight armour and kept on charging forward. Shiki summons his signature enormous golem in front of him as a shield, to block Silver's Psycho Smash V2. Even with how durable his golem is, Silver pushes through it and sends Shiki crashing in the ground hard. Shiki catches his footing, creating a hollow sphere on the tips of his index and middle finger. The sphere generates a well-built attractive force, pulling solely chunks of earth in the vicinity. Shiki tries to destroy Silver with his "Planetary Earth Wrath", but Silver, not wanting to give up, retaliates with a Psycho Blaster, putting everyone's dreams into the attack.

With Metal Sonic & Sage

Kori's avatar slams its feet, calling on an stupendous cannonade of icicle vines, with Metal Sonic slices with his avatar claws. Sage directed herself away from the onslaught of sliced-up vines, delivering an extremely speedy and unavoidable assault. Kori counterattacks by whipping up a storm of sharpened ice needles around Sage, with Metal Sonic catching her with his avatar's left hand. Kori charges in with her katana and clashes with Metal Sonic's claws, plunging himself into a hasty evenly matched scuffle. Kori deploys another barrage of ice needles, which both pushes back Metal Sonic and inflicts considerable damage on him. Kori then does her "Frost Vines Heaven" to add more harm to the roboticized version of Sonic, Metal Sonic severs the vines while Sage phases against Kori's unending bombardment.

G-23 nearby sees the two fighting a seemingly losing battle and tries to aid them, by Dr. Eggman stops him from doing so. "G-23, don't intervene. As long as they have each other's back, they can overcome any struggle."

Sage exhibits innumerable copies of herself to uplift her evasiveness and blinded Kori's peripheral vision for Metal Sonic to power up his right hand. Metal Sonic avatar's right hand is enveloped with a frenzied surge of energy that forms into a long golden energy, as he proceeds to slash Kori in a chopping motion. Kori holds back the sword with her avatar's katana as best as she can, but Metal Sonic with the assistance of Sage successfully overpowers Kori's block as the giant lance of energy pierces Kori, defeating her in the process.

With Knuckles, Sally and Blaze

Cosmo resumes on healing Knuckles, Sally and Blaze with all of her might, to the point where she almost passes out.

Tails tries to convince Cosmo to get some rest, but she refuses to give up. "Not yet, Tails. Everything is resting on my shoulder to heal them…or else we are all done!"

Infinite unexpectedly appeared, once having found his current main threats location. "You thought I wouldn't figure out your plan!"

Cosmo on-the-spot manifests vines to bind Infinite tightly, with one of her arms. Tails grasps the chance given to him by Cosmo for a double hammerstrike, Infinite bursts off his virtual energy to break through Cosmo's restraints. Blaze acts as bait and traps both her and Infinite in a sealed-off blazing sphere, the adjacent firestorm ramps up Blaze's pyrokinesis techniques. When in close proximity with Infinite, Blaze would shoot heat rays from her palms and for afar, unleashes in ordinarily strenuous cobalt blue beams of flames in the image of an egyptian-themed cat.

Blaze's valiant act gave Cosmo the time she needed to recover Knuckles and Sally back to full strength, at the cost of a substantial quantity of her energy reserves. Infinite swiftly puts down Blaze with Phantom Destruction, with his virtual energy slashes coming in on Tails, Cosmo, Knuckles and Sally. Knuckles erects a small barrier around everyone from the effects of Infinite's Phantom Destruction, before joining Sally on tag-teaming Infinite expanding the same barrier thinly over their entire body like a cloak.

With Sonic and Shadow

The two hedgehogs are in shock, confronted with five humanoid creatures with a long body that seem to be made out of some sort of energy. The creature collectively chants, at once. "Compassion…Strength…Intellect…Willpower…and Hope. Those components are necessities for life itself. When during dark times, life brings forth a saviour, united by the power of Chaos against The End."

Sonic and Shadow are immediately taken back where they were before the transportation, as Sonic remarks on their appearance. "Those people…they look just as identical as Chaos!"

Whereas, Shadow focuses on figuring out any lingering message from the humanoid creatures' speech. "...I see, it must have been a recorded message from…who I presume to be his ancestors…but what they say, maybe it could be another ancient chant."

Sonic switches his thought process on what is more important at their current situation, replies back to Shadow's comment. "So like Tikal's prayer…If possible, maybe it could help us activate Chaos Unification. They did say something about a saviour born from being united by the power of Chaos."

Shadow places his hand on chin, understanding where Sonic is coming from. "You're right, that chant must have some connection to how to activate Chaos Unification at will. Better to try if it would work, than standing here doing nothing."

Shadow uses Chaos Control to bring the Chaos Emeralds to them as he believes the Resistance would have brought them back to their normal selves by now, while Sonic waits at Angel Island.

If by any chance i make a sequel to this, the little snippets of the Ancients would be explored. By that, the Resistance are slowly gaining the upper hand against Chronos. Sonic and Shadow on the other hand, are trying to figure out a way of activating Chaos Unification again. Find out in the next chapter, what happens next.
