Chapter 44- Final Battle, Part 4

Chronos's Imperial Fortress

Lying on the ground worn out, Kazoku tearfully thanks Infinite. "If it wasn't for you, Infinite. I wouldn't have this second chance to have a family once more…I'm sorry…I'm sorry for failing you in the end after everything you have done for me."

Espio kneels down next to Kazoku, quietly muttering to him. "While we are indeed enemies, I respect your resolve and ideals to fight for the familial bond you have for your comrade after I believed losing your previous one. If possible, only you pay for your crime. I would help you make a fresh start."

Kazoku emotionally responds at Espio, with tears running down his cheek as memories of his wife, his children, the other Generals and Infinite overflow his mind. "A fresh start? I have no purpose anymore, I don't even want to live in this cruel world without them…all I ever wanted was their happiness…which the world took for them…"

Espio sighs solemnly, understands Kazoku's pain by his words alone. "You never know, life does take us to unknown territory either good or bad. It is just the way it is, all we have to do is to keep moving forward and hope for the best."

With Surge and Mighty

Kaze collects his bearings following Surge's punch, declaring in rage. "...am…I…going to lose? Not after everything Infinite had done for when all had ostracised me as a…monster! All I did for, all I haven't repaid him for…I WON'T LET IT END THIS WAY!"

Kaze revitalises his will to fight with an explosive torrent of wind, both him and Surge ruthlessly trade countless blows and blasts, until Surge takes the advantage and strives to finish off Kaze with a Indra Strike.

Kaze drives back Surge casting his wind net to its highest deadliness, forcing Surge to fall back extending both arms, releasing a high discharge through both palms and bringing her hands together with fingers spread apart for a vast wave of electricity to hold back the net. As Surge struggles, Mighty returns to his feet and comes to her aid. Their integrated vigour triumphantly ward off Kaze's net of wind, and Mighty and Surge rush forward to fight him together to end their fight once and for all.

While Mighty interlocks himself and Kaze in a full-on brawl, Surge supports him by narrowing down her vision and concentrating exclusively when Kaze's guard is dropped and strikes him down with bolts of electricity.

Mighty and Surge gradually have Kaze on the ropes, as Surge exclaims at Mighty for something. "Mighty! Throw me at Kaze, now!"

Without hesitation, Mighty throws Surge at Kaze, bashed him with a lariat move, coated with her electricity aura. Mighty catches up with them and joins Surge, delivering one final blow together that knocks out Kaze.

With Silver

Silver is in an extreme clash with Shiki, who pumps up more of his energy to push his earthen meteor closer to Silver. Holding on as best he can, Silver maximises the power of his psychic energy all at once. An violent explosion of his psychic energy bursts out, earning him the win over Shiki with their clash.

Silver catches his balance on one of his knees, short-winded, Espio, Rouge, Omega, G-merl, Antonie, Mighty and Surge regroups to his location

On the ground, Shiki gazes among the skies, smashing the back of his fist on the ground. He silently murmurs, as sparks of electricity appear around him. "Sorry Infinite…you gave me, Kaze and the Generals hope when no one in this spiteful sphere full of inhuman beings. I am forever grateful…being your…successor, I won't let you down at this very moment…I SWEAR!"

By any chance Shiki is the last one standing, he would automatically absorb the other Generals abilities as a last resort technique. His body begins to metamorphose in a similar fashion when he did the same thing to Kaze. His fur hair pushes upfront and the black rock pattern markings spread all over his whole body

Shiki brings into action an efficient succession of pillars made of earth and ice at his opponents, Silver lengthen his Psycho Knife to fight off the accelerated elemental columns. Shiki right after sends forth a multitude of offence and defence munitions like spears, shields, bullets, golems and frost beasts. Silver, Omega and Surge hold off them for everyone to get within striking distance. On their way towards Shiki, they all get cut in many places in their body by Shiki's unbelievable ruinous power and his unending variety of projectiles.

Shiki remains on crushing his enemies, limiting their chances of getting closer to him as much as possible. An energised grappling hook pierces his ice shield and an enraged Jet the Hawks burst through the haze of cold mist that Shiki is giving out on his Extreme Gear.

Shiki goes on to dispose of Jet with an earth golem and ice dragon, viewing him as a foolish hawk only flying to his death. "Pathetic…that is all you are, I will cut down your wings and leave you comatose just like the other two."

Jet accurately read the wind streams, allowing him to ride his Extreme Gear to the fullest. He sets into motion performing amazing fast and complex tricks and body movements with his Extreme Gear while in midair, to avoid Shiki's constructed creations swings and tail swipes. Jet even jumps above the dragon and grinds on its back as if it was a Grind Rail. Holding two Babylonian katanas bearing a resemblance with his feathers, Jet gashes out a long spiralling wound around both the golem and dragon's arm, tearing it to pieces.

Jet propels forward ignoring them and aims directly for Shiki, but fails to take out his eyes due to Shiki's greater speed and reflexes.

Jet lands near everyone, shocked to see them on their side. "Don't get the wrong idea, I'm only here for my revenge towards Chronos and your Commander offered me a great deal I couldn't decline."

With a added member to the group, they once again press forward with renewed determination

With Sonic and Shadow

Shadow returned back to Angel Island with the Chaos Emeralds with four back to their usual coloured form, Sonic when Shadow was gone was using his time shadow boxing.

The two get into their positions which they used to revive Elise, already in their Super Forms and channelling their energies with the four Chaos Emeralds to one while reciting what Chaos's ancestors chanted.

Before long, Sonic and Shadow begin exerting an enormous boost in power and are enveloped in an amazing sparkling aura.

Sonic is amazed by the amount of energy they are exerting, and notices three bright coloured lights. "Well if you look at that, the other Emeralds…they are back to normal."

Whereas, Shadow doesn't seem just as amazed as Sonic at all. "Nothing drastic happened, we just got stronger and the Emeralds turned back. Even with this, we still stand no chance against Infinite. We need to try again."

Over and over, nothing changes as Sonic and Shadow struggle to figure out what they are doing wrong.

Sonic grows impatient, sensing everyone's energy slowly decreasing. "Dammit! Why wouldn't it work…everyone…they are out there…giving it their all…while we are here, making no progress with this damn Chaos Unifwhatever it is called…GRRAAHH!"

Shadow steps forward, calming Sonic down. "Calm down, Sonic! I understand how frustrating this is, but us getting angry isn't gotta do anything. We need to focus on our predicament, not the others. They can handle it, you know that don't you?"

Sonic finally calms down, now even more focused and determined as ever. "...Thanks Shadow, I needed that…Let's go again…we beat so many tough adversaries and even broke through Null Space…we can overcome this!"

Shadow sighs before smirking as well. "Uh huh, this time we will get it right…I can feel it!"

Sonic and Shadow once again get into positions doing Chaos Unification one last time, clearing their mind completely and abandoning any distraction or thought that would disrupt their focus. With the seven Chaos Emeralds by their side, they push forward into breaking through their self-limiting shell. After a while, the Chaos Emeralds, even the broken shards of the Master Emerald, begin glowing. Multi-coloured light emitted from Sonic and Shadow engulfed them in the process, as they finally opened each other's eyes now sporting cyan blue pupils.
