Mario and Blaze
- Mario: What the...?! What's going on now?!
In the forest, Mario is still looking for Blaze, until a violent earth-quake is felt. Some fragile trees fall.
- Mario: Blaze?! Where are you? Answer me!
Immediately, Mario races through the forest, but the earth-quake doesn't make his task any easier. At times, he almost falls. Finally, he spots Blaze, terrified.
- Mario: Blaze!
- Blaze: Mario! What's happening?!
Suddenly, a tree falls and threatens Blaze.
- Mario: Look out!
Mario rushes to Blaze's front and grabs her. They narrowly avoid the tree.
- Mario: Phew, that was close!
At the same moment, the earth-quake finally stops.
- Mario: At last it's calming down! I wonder what it was...nothing serious, I hope!
Blaze looks both ashamed and sad. Mario, on the other hand, is furious.
- Mario: What were you thinking, running off like that?! I was worried! Especially with that earth-quake!
- Blaze: Forgive me, Mario. It's just that...
- Mario: Is this about what we talked about earlier?
Blaze turns her back to Mario, who realizes he's made a mistake.
- Mario: I'm sorry, Blaze. I don't know what you've been through, and besides, it's none of my business. If you don't want to talk to me about it, I'll understand.
- Blaze: No...I can tell you…
Blaze sits down on a rock and invites Mario to sit next to her.
- Blaze: As I was saying, being the guardian of the Sol Emeralds and a master of fire wasn't going to make my life any easier.
- Mario: Why?
Blaze doesn't answer right away. She bows her head and closes her eyes.
- Blaze: My guardian status has always kept me away from other people. I...I've always been alone. I've always been on my own. I couldn't count on anyone but myself.
- Mario: I understand...it couldn't have been easy, especially for a child...but you really didn't have any friends?
- Blaze: No. The other kids...made fun of me. They called me names because of my power. They thought I was a monster.
Mario looks both sad and ashamed.
- Blaze: Say Mario...when you were a kid, did kids make fun of you because of your power?
Mario thinks and looks even more ashamed.
- Mario: Honestly, no. They never did. I was lucky, apparently.
Blaze looks disappointed by this revelation. Mario places his hand on Blaze's shoulder.
- Mario: You know Blaze, you mustn't pay any attention to that. Those kids were idiots. You're not a monster, far from it. You're a sensitive, kind person. You're better than they are.
Blaze stares at Mario in surprise.
- Mario: And you're not alone anymore. You have friends who love you. Believe me, they do. And there's nothing more beautiful than having friends you can count on.
- Blaze: Yes...you're right.
Blaze stands up with a small smile.
- Blaze: One day, Silver helped me when some kids were making fun of me. He was also made fun of because of his telekinetic powers. We've been together ever since. Much later, I met Sonic and his friends. It was thanks to them that I finally understood the true meaning of the word "friendship".
- Mario: Yes, that sounds like these two. Anyway, I'm glad to hear you say all that.
- Blaze: That's the true. Today, I have friends and...I've learned to live with my power. I use it to protect those I love.
Mario rises from his rock and walks over to Blaze, who is smiling as brightly as the snow.
- Blaze: Thanks, Mario. It was good talking to you.
- Mario: You're welcome. That's what a teammate's for!
Mario and Blaze admire the path. They haven't forgotten their goal.
- Mario: Right, let's get back on the road!
- Blaze: Okay.
Mario and Blaze start walking again. After just a few minutes, they're surprised to see that they've reached the end of the forest. The mountain is right in front of them.
- Blaze: Look! We're through the forest!
- Mario: Now we just have to get over the mountain! Let's go!
Mario and Blaze set off up the mountain.
Peach and Amy
- Peach: What's happening?! An earthquake?!
Back to the moment of the earthquake. Peach and Amy, frightened, hug each other. The earthquake causes waves to break on the lake, but soon subsides. Peach and Amy let go, then look at each other, surprised.
- Amy: What was that?
- Peach: I don't know, but it was worrying. I hope it's nothing serious...
- Amy: Well, don't worry, it can't be anything! Come on, let's get back on the road!
At once, the girls resume their walk. The mountain isn't far off. Despite Amy's words, Peach can't help worrying.
- Peach: I'm worried about the others...that earthquake wasn't reassuring at all!
Seeing Peach's concern, Amy can't help but smile.
- Amy: You're not worried about Mario, are you?
Peach turns as red as a tomato. Amy guesses.
- Peach: Yes, I am...but aren't you worried about Sonic?
- Amy: No, I'm not! Because I know he'll always come through, no matter what! I trust him! A little earthquake isn't going to scare him off! And neither Mario! They're not heroes for nothing!
Peach looks more reassured. Amy's right. Mario's not the type to be fooled so easily.
- Peach: I know it's ridiculous, but... I'm still worried. I hope he's all right. Mario's always been there for me and...I couldn't bear it if anything happened to him.
- Amy: Yes, I know exactly how you feel. I feel the same way about Sonic! If someone has the misfortune to hurt him, he'll have to deal with me!
- Peach: Well, the bad guys better be ready!
Both girls start laughing. Amy's enthusiasm amuses Peach. Suddenly, Amy stops.
- Amy: Look, all those shells by the water!
- Peach: Oh, they're beautiful!
Amy ponders, then pounces on the shells. She grabs two sturdy blades of grass and seems to be fiddling with something. After a few seconds, she returns with two magnificent shell bracelets in hand.
- Amy: And here's the work!
- Peach: Oh Amy! How lovely! What a talent!
Amy grabs Peach's right wrist and slips on one of the bracelets.
- Amy: Here Peach! They're for you! To thank you for all your advice!
- Peach: Oh Amy, thank you! How lovely! And the other one? Who's he for?
Peach asks this question, but deep down she already knows the answer.
- Amy: Well, for Sonic of course! I hope he'll like it...I put all my love into it...
- Peach: Don't worry, I'm sure he'll love it.
Amy tucks the bracelet gently into her bag. The girls continue their journey and soon reach the foot of the mountain.
- Amy: Look, we're not far from it!
- Peach: We just have to get to the top! Something tells me we're going to win!
- Amy: Then let's go, and don't waste any time!
The girls set off at once to climb to the top of the mountain.
Knuckles and Wario
- Knuckles: What?! What's going on?!
In the underground, Wario and Knuckles also feel the earth-quake. Chunks of rock fall from the ceiling. Suddenly, due to a lack of balance, Wario gets too close to the chasm and topples over.
- Wario: What?! NO!
Wario falls into the chasm, but he feels a hand hold him back at the last moment. It's Knuckles.
- Knuckles: Hold on, I'll pull you up!
Knuckles pulls Wario up, who is pale as a sheet.
- Knuckles: Are you okay?
- Wario: Wow, I must admit that was close!
Wario looks hesitantly at Knuckles before saying:
- Wario: Thanks, buddy.
- Knuckles: Don't worry, it was nothing!
The earth-quake has finally subsided. Knuckles looks carefully at the path. They're in a dead end.
- Knuckles: Well, we've got to find another way to get there!
Wario pulls out the map. Unfortunately, the underground route is not specified. Wario's chances of finding the gold diminish.
- Wario: (I'm running out of options here. I'm going to have to rely on luck, and hope it helps me find the gold.)
Knuckles approaches the stone walls and taps lightly on them. He continues until he hears a hollow sound.
- Knuckles: It sounds hollow on this side! That means there's another path right behind that wall.
- Wario: Ah, at last we can have some fun!
Wario approaches the wall and hits it with all his might. He's helped by Knuckles, who also goes all out. Their blows create a hole in the wall, and a new path is visible.
- Knuckles: Yeah, we did it!
- Wario: Say, buddy, I never knew you had such a grip. I'm impressed.
- Knuckles: Well, it's no great feat for me to punch! And obviously, it's not for you either!
Wario and Knuckles make their way through the hole and onto the new path, which continues nicely.
- Knuckles: Shall we go?
Wario and Knuckles head straight for the path.
Luigi and Shadow
- Shadow: Get down! Get down!
Shadow and Luigi take refuge under the banquet table and suffer the effects of the earthquake, which on their side seems far more violent than in other places. Snow falls from the ceiling. Glasses and drinks fall from the table and shatter. Snow falls on the fireplace, which goes out. After a few minutes, the earthquake stops. Shadow and Luigi stand up. Luigi looks scared to death.
- Luigi: What was that?!
- Shadow: No...don't tell me...
Shadow rushes to the door and opens it. He's buried by a huge snowfall that blocks the exit. Luigi comes to help him.
- Luigi: Are you all right?! But...why is there snow in front of the entrance?!
Shadow gets up and cleans the snow off his fur. He thinks before saying:
- Shadow: I think...the chalet is buried by snow...that earthquake we felt...actually, it was an avalanche.
- Luigi: AN AVALANCHE?! You mean we're stuck in the chalet, under tons of snow?!
In a panic, Luigi starts moving in all directions. His fear has reached its peak.
- Luigi: Oh no, what are we going to do?! How are we going to get out?! We'll freeze to death! I DON'T WANT TO END UP AS A FROZEN CORPSE !
Shadow is dismayed by Luigi's reaction. He approaches him, grabs him by the collar and slaps him hard across the face.
- Shadow: Well, the first thing you've got to do is stop whining like a girl and BE A MAN!
Under the effect of the slap, Luigi freezes in place. He places a hand on his cheek to soothe the pain before staring at Shadow with a shocked expression.
- Luigi: ARE YOU INSANE?! WHY DID YOU HIT ME?!
- Shadow: To get your attention. Listen, panicking won't do you any good, on the contrary, it'll only make things worse! You've got to stay calm and avoid getting tired. If you don't, the cold will eat you alive, believe me! So calm down and let's think of a solution, shall we?
Luigi takes a deep breath. He looks a little more serene right away.
- Luigi: You're right...sorry. I often panic over nothing.
- Shadow: I wasn't wrong after all. You're a pathetic coward.
- Luigi: Hey, that's not true! I'm not a coward!
- Shadow: Then prove it! So far, I haven't seen much fabulous from you!
- Luigi: That's because I'm stressed! And I can't act when I'm stressed!
- Shadow: All right! Let's stop arguing or we'll never get out of this! Okay?!
Luigi finally regains his composure. He admires every corner of the chalet with a desperate look.
- Luigi: And...how do we get out of here?
Shadow and Luigi take their time to think.
- Luigi: How about a tunnel through the door?
- Shadow: No, that's not a good idea. If the snow falls on us, we won't be able to get out and we'll die of asphyxiation.
- Luigi: Well...I don't know...we'll have to demolish the chalet to get out!
- Shadow: Are you deaf?! I just told you that the snow could fall on us and we could suffocate! It pains me to say it, but...right now, there's nothing we can do.
- Luigi: What do you mean?! We can't just sit here and do nothing! Have you thought about the cold?
- Shadow: Look, it's only a matter of time before the other teams get here. They'll be able to get us out. We'll have to be patient and wait for the others to help us! It's the worst kind of humiliation, but unfortunately we have no choice.
Luigi doesn't seem reassured by Shadow's words. Nevertheless, he seems convinced.
- Luigi: Okay...I guess you're right. We'll just have to wait for the others to arrive. I hope they don't take too long!
- Shadow: In the meantime, we need to get organized if we're going to survive. But the others had better hurry!
Shadow and Luigi start by taking out everything in their bags. Outside, the chalet is completely covered in snow, making it invisible.
