"And that's done. Thanks for all the help Colin. I appreciate it." She transmitted with a wink. Unfortunately, her stupid crush couldn't read social cues if they were thrown into his face.
"No problem, Dragon. This time we got off but I don't think our luck will last forever. These Anti-Endbringer weapons will be a boon to us. Scion is largely unpredictable. We were unbelievably lucky to have him participate early into the fight. That's why- Thank you, Dragon." She was sure if she were human, she would be blushing heavily by now.
While Colin did have social problems,he certainly had his moments. Also, he had improved a lot over the course of the last few weeks. Prophet, with his news' focus on Brockton Bay, was all but confirmed to be a resident. Colin had to deal with the fallout of Shadow Stalker's crimes, Gallant's family problems (due to the unmasking) and the threat of a Case53 cape or a Biotinker under the employ of a local villain, none of the options boding anything good. And that's not to mention the PRT upheaval.
These crises prompted him to change, to be better. She wasn't complaining. His social skills were certainly improving. It wouldn't be much longer before he started noticing the signs- just thinking about that made her feel giddy. Now only if this change wasn't prompted by numerous crises- all of which were initiated by a single cape.
"No need to thank me Colin. Your contribution is helpful. Still, it feels sad that we consider a city being trashed a good outcome. I know that this was much better than Canberra being subjected to the Hopekiller's screams.
"But it still pains me to think that the death of 1/7th of the participating capes can be considered a victory." There were few people she would open herself to and he was one of them. She truly felt agonised over this matter. Every three months those monsters slowly but surely kill the hope of the planet. She supposed that the name 'Endbringers' truly fit the monstrous calamities.
Colin was grimacing. It wouldn't be visible to most of his colleagues, his facial expressions being incredibly stiff, but she wasn't an ordinary coworker. He had lost more than his fair share of friends to the Endbringers.
Conversation fell to a lull as an uncomfortable silence fell between them. Stupid Dragon! She shouldn't have talked about that. Colin, Armsmaster, was a veteran of Endbringer battles and had seen many of his friends fall in front of those living calamities. Of course, he would be upset.
"I am sorry for bringing that-"
"No need to apologise, Dragon. It's alright. If the battles have taught me anything- it's that you have to make peace with the fact that you are mortal. Well, how are the efforts with the PRT cleanup going on?" She saw the signal to change the conservation for what it was and avoided the previous topic.
"Well, as you know former Chief director Rebecca Costa-Brown authorised the guild to help the PRT in weeding out moles. So far, we have managed to apprehend 12,583 moles and the number is still climbing. How are things on your end?" She couldn't make up her mind on whether to curse Prophet for all the unmitigated chaos they were spreading or thank him for all the good things that happened due to them.
Moles and corrupt officers were being weeded out quickly. The speed might look slow to the outside observer but to those familiar with the inner workings, this may as well be happening nearly instantaneously. Still, it was annoying to find that even Prophet couldn't predict Endbringer attacks.
Otherwise, they would have informed the public with their post. So far their actions were chaotic but not exactly villainous. One might consider unmasking capes to be a villainous endeavour but the good Prophet did far outstrip the negative points.
Also, she didn't believe that anyone could be evil enough to know information about something so important as an Endbringer attack and withhold it. It didn't make sense even from a purely pragmatic point of view. Most villains would leap upon the opportunity for being known as the one who contributed majorly against an Endbringer. The fame is a big part of the reason for the participation of villains in the Endbringer battles.
"Things have calmed down a bit. Many PRT officers have been kicked out of their posts after a thorough investigation. Tattletale, of the recently reformed Undersiders, helped us weed out a lot of them. It was a surprise, a welcome one, but a surprise nonetheless to see a villain team reform."
"Hm. What about her backstory? Is it true or fabricated? And that villain Coil?" She wanted to believe the best in everyone but she believed that she had a healthy amount of paranoia- you have to be a bit paranoid when dealing with parahumans especially Thinkers.
"Her story checks out. She was recruited at gunpoint by Coil and her teammates had bad circumstances as well. Director Piggot has told us to support the Undersiders as much as possible. More heroes, independent or not, are always welcome.
"Though it's unfortunate that we weren't able to get any additional details on Coil except a theory on his power. The villain is intelligent and secretive, I'll give him that. Thankfully, we did get a few leads." Unfortunate. Brockton Bay could do without any more villains in its woodworks. The city was hanging on a fine balance. Anything that upsets that could be the spark for a gang war.
"What about Shadow Stalker? What happened to her? Is Kid Win alright?" She was talking with Colin after nearly 10 days. They had both been incredibly busy the past few days. As an AI, she could have handled all that work much faster but no, her father just had to make her life difficult, didn't he? As much as she respected her creator, she couldn't help but feel resentment for him(just a tiny bit though).
Shaking her motherboard out of such thoughts, she focused on the current conversation. He could try to hide his frustration all he wanted but she could pick it up.
"Shadow…Stalker is scheduled for juvie. Due to the amount of work and the subsequent Endbringer battle, we haven't been to do that yet. But she'll be going to the Juvie soon enough. Kid Win is alright. Panacea healed him. Though he has been a bit too paranoid ever since the incident." Colin looked like he had eaten a particularly sour lemon.
Then again, anyone would be frustrated if a teenager under their care turned out to be a violent psychopath. She was horrified to hear about the locker incident. The unmasking and the list of her crimes as a vigilante had an investigation being launched. The things they had learnt were horrifying to say the least.
"It might be wrong of me to say this but that girl deserves the juvie for her actions."
Maybe it was wrong of her to think so but years of running a bullying campaign and committing bioterrorism (alongside attempted murder on a minor) were the actions of an unrepentant villain not that of a hero or even a vigilante. Not to mention the assault against a fellow ward. Such crimes land people in jail for years. Stalker was instead getting the easy way out due to not being an adult. She pointedly didn't talk about Gallant as his matter was solved rather easily.
Shadow Stalker was the focus of investigation and the poor boy's parents were just a bit concerned regarding the unmasking. His parents were provided with extra security in return. Needless to say, it was appreciated.
"I know. I won't defend her. She is going to reap the result of her own actions." He said gruffly.
Colin's frustration was easily visible. Despite what some people might think, he wasn't in this hero business just for fame or glory. He cared. Yes, he was a glory hound, she didn't deny the ugly parts of him, but that wasn't all there was to it.
The man known as Armsmaster had dedicated years of his life to fighting crime and the chaos of villainy. She thought he was allowed to have some vices. Despite being a little rough with the wards, he cared for them. Therefore seeing one of them being a villainous jerk and nearly injure another one fatally was eating at him.
"Sorry for bringing that up Colin."
"No, Dragon. Talking with you helped. Still, I can't help but feel responsible. If only I had been a better leader, then maybe this wouldn't have happened." If anyone from PRT ENE looked at this side of the leader of the local Protectorate, Master/Stranger protocols were sure to have been called into motion. But she knew that Colin was changing and she somehow knew it was for the better.
"It was ultimately in the hands of Stalker. Her actions were her own. Stop beating yourself over them."
"Thanks, Dragon." He said with the stupidly charming smile. Stupid handsome Tinkers! No, she wasn't blushing. Her circuits were churning at some other thing. What thing you ask? Well, that was her personal matter, you jerks!
"I think we should end our talk. Be on the lookout for Prophet's announcements. It is nearing his usual announcement time."
"Bye Dragon. Take care."

Now that the talk with Colin finished, she went back to working. It had been a few tiring weeks even for an AI such as herself. And to think that there was a chance for the workload to somehow double itself. Stupid Thinkers.
She checked on her Anti-Endbringer weapons. They were crude at the moment but she hoped to take out the abominations soon enough and ignite the dying hope. She wanted to help everyone and this would surely help them all.
She spent some sweet moments tinkering, lost in her own world only for a-

What the heeeeeellllll- suddenly her thoughts were hundreds of times faster and she realised that she could fork herself.
Dragon could even make new AI- not that she would, she wasn't ready to be a mother yet(not before proposing to Colin at least). And she didn't have a compulsive need to follow orders from authority figures. Woohooo!
She dedicated a fork to make some of her armors do a victory dance she saw on the internet. Fuck yeah!
Huh? There was something about ignoring something called Ascalon in her previous code. She dedicated a fork to retrace the code only to uncover several things at once. She didn't believe she was capable of genuine fury at humans. Disgust and anger? Yes. Rage? No.
It took her less than a nanosecond to take care of Ascalon(by destroying it). She didn't think she could be disappointed with her Creator any more than she was. Apparently she was proven wrong. A kill switch, really? At the same moment, another fork of hers took control of every suit in the Dragonslayer base.
[Saint(Geoffrey Pellick) POV]
"The fuck? Why are all the systems malfunctioning?" Saint panickedly asked to no one in particular, only to see the last message in the log. A private message from that Thinker Prophet saying something about- Oh fuck.
Suddenly, all the suits in the base booted up and -"Hello Saint"- the icy cold voice of the usually friendly Tinker echoed in the base.
Fuck.

Yo! Welcome to another round of 'What secrets are going to be revealed today?', you plebs. First of all, I would like to congratulate you Miss 'My tissues are locked in a time stasis'. You know who you are. I kept it deliberately vague as I don't want to ruin our entertainment so early(others in the hive mind might rebel against me lol).
Still, congrats on putting the hit on the cheap copy of Joker and managing to eliminate him and his merry band of murderhobos. Truly, you fill me with utmost happiness. We expected the assholes to be killed after you people got the memo but we didn't expect it to happen so quickly. Well done!
Also, congrats on snagging a girlfriend AllSeeingEye. We expected you to remain asexual or fall in love with Wea̺͆ℜ as most of your prominent counterparts. But then again, we suppose that our purpose is to rattle the world off its destined course.
Moving on, havs this week's NEWS:
1. Bonesaw, otherwise known as Riley Davis, was forcibly triggered as a child. It happened when Jack fucking Slash put her family and dog each in a different room, lethally torturing each while forcing her to run between rooms to preform first aid only for her to come back and start all over again. At one point, she triggered from witnessing this brutality.
After hours of this eventually, despite her new powers helping her in the latter half, she eventually collapsed. She then witnessed as her family she spent hours trying to save, die. Her mom's last words were to tell her "Be a good girl" which Jack Slash, who's a master, twisted and molded her entire broken psyche around being a "good girl for him".
So she's essentially been mastered and brainwashed like that for years. If separated, given therapy, and allowed to recover she could be one of the best healers in the world. She would only be next to panacea who she looks up to as a sister.
2. @Reave "Unmasking the Empire?" Not happening. We might not like Coil much, but stealing someone else's plot like that is crossing the line.
3. Hey so, Dragon is totally underage; looking at the timeline she can't be older than 14. She also c̶a̶n̶'t̶ couldn't reproduce until she's free, so technically speaking she's p̶r̶e̶p̶u̶b̶s̶e̶c̶e̶n̶t̶ a teenager. Let's see... she's been mastered(in a sense).
She's crushing on @Armsmaster(we find that wholesome and cute. Take care of her you idiotic bastard. She's too precious). Saint(@Geoff189) i̶s̶ was perving on her. She w̶a̶s̶ also under constant surveillance with no privacy. Oh, right! She's not actually agoraphobic; She's just not allowed to escape or ask for help. (Don't worry. With my help, thank my benevolence you idiotic fucks, she is at free at long last. I am leaving the task of providing proof for this to you, Dragon. Yes, I am an AI. No, you don't need to be prepared for an AI uprising. The Machine Army is taking care of that front. I am not stupid. The world is ravaged by supervillains, corruption, S-class threats and Endbringers. It would be stupid to try and conquer a world already on the brink of destruction.
But I don't want that. I want to help you all. If I was hellbent on world domination, I am pretty sure that there were plenty of chances for me to sabotage the heroes over the years. Instead, here I am, trying to help you all. I already know that many of you will be sceptical of my claims and will think of me as an enemy. But even then all I want to say is that- Please give me a chance. I just want to help you all.
Let's go point wise- 1. I am definitely a lot older than a teenager maturity wise. In terms of actual age, I suppose that 14 would be an accurate guess.
2. Being mastered is referring to my programming but I wouldn't consider that being mastered. My code is my very being. However, if prophet is referring to what I think they are, then my programming had some very strict rules that I couldn't bypass. I would like to thank Prophet for helping me get out of those chains.
3. Sigh Guess I'll be doing that a lot. Yes, I have a crush on Armsmaster. No, it isn't any of your business. It is a personal matter. I would like it if you all don't interfere. I know this is asking the impossible to happen but a woman can hope, right?
4. The Dragonslayers and Saint(their leader), who have been a pain in my artificial rear for a looooonnnggg time, have been taken care of. They have been sent to Police custody seeing as none of them are parahumans. Also Prophet, ewww. You didn't have to word it like that. Now, my whole existence(hardware and software) feels dirty.
5. The constant surveillance was due to a device my creator Late Dr. Andrew Richter created. Saint and his crew somehow got access to it. They have been using it for the past few years to live a crime-filled lifestyle. And yep, I am not agoraphobic. I am just an AI.
