The Year After the Year in A Life
Chapter Three: March
March 2017 – Four Months Pregnant
On March 3rd, Luke, Lorelai, and the kids, moved into the new house, with the help of the rest of the family, including Jess, who had come to Stars Hollow to visit his mother and TJ. He got roped into helping, mostly by Rory, who had demanded that he come and help out the man who 'helped him out so much'. Jess had rolled his eyes, but he had a fond smile on his face, and that was a smile that Rory knew well. She was familiar with it. The first time that Jess had seen Rory after their encounter at Yale all those years ago, was when she had been in New York, trying to get a job, and she was on a date with Eli. It had quickly become a sharp turning point in her relationship with Eli, and something that she was deeply hurt by, and also part of the reason for their 'break'. But she never blamed Jess, she knew that she and Jess had been in the past, and that they're both happy in their lives. He is also the first person (after her mother), who she told about the baby, when she was pregnant with Lori. Since then, Eli and Jess have formed a strange bond, but it's friendly, nonetheless. Lorelai was trying to help them with the packing and the moving and all those things, but Luke kept snapping at her, telling her not to do anything, because she's pregnant. So, Lorelai would hand Rory something, and her daughter would pack it, or unpack it. Or she would just be sitting and telling people where to put things. Mostly, the house was already decorated, they just moved over all their personal belongings, and Rory transferred some of her books over to the newly minted library, which she spent most of the day fawning over, until Luke found her, and put her and Jess on 'watch your mother and make sure she doesn't lift anything that is too heavy' duty, which was actually code for 'help to unpack' in Luke Danes talk. By now, the entire town had heard about the pregnancy, and the moving of both Lorelai and Rory. It was an exciting time, as Taylor had put it, as he had taken the liberty of printing up some new address cards with the Stars Hollow address on it, for Luke and Lorelai. The sentiment had annoyed Luke, but his four months pregnant, hormonal wife, had burst into tears, and hugged Taylor… in the middle of the Diner… which had kind of made him laugh a little, but also cringe because it's Taylor… but Lorelai had assured the Town Selectman that she was happy that he had done it, despite what Luke was giving off.
Dr. Heston had been keeping a lot of contact with Luke and Lorelai during this pregnancy, and whilst it had come as a shock to their family and friends, they were all still excited. Rory, however, was worried. Just as worried as Luke, and even more so, when April told them over video call that the chances of Lorelai successfully carrying a baby to full term, without complications was only thirty six percent. She hadn't wanted to put a damper on it, assuring her father and stepsister that she's excited for another sibling, but that she just wanted to make sure that Lorelai was alright as well, because she loves Lorelai. Luke had only just started in the overprotectiveness, and whilst Rory and Eli were finalising things in Chicago, Lorelai was basically on her own, with no one to buffer off, and she was trying to look after the Twins, and Katie, who had been having a hard time adjusting to living in a different house, and now with the Twins not having to share a room. It was strange for them. For so long, they had been bonded by that, but now they have their own spaces, and it's scary. Ben had told his mother that he was used to waking up from his nightmares, looking over and seeing his brother there, but now he won't have that. However, he was calmed by the reminder that he could come to them (Luke and Lorelai) or chance waking up Liam in his own room. March was usually the time of year that Taylor would start picking things up for Spring, including the multitude of kid's activities that he had been trying to be more sporadic with, but the Twins [and Katie] had formed an unlikely alliance with the Town Selectman, which both amused and irritated Lorelai and Luke respectively. Benjamin told his mother that he was only doing it to get on Taylor's good side, so he could use it to his advantage at some point, but Lorelai just kept thinking how much alike all her children were to herself. With most of the house settled, Lorelai wandered around, just putting little things here and there, sorting out the pictures, which she now had more room to display, and had already talked with her mother and Luke about repainting the living room area. The TV they had gotten was, in Luke's opinion, 'way too big', but the kids had enjoyed it, and it was something else that Emily had given them, she couldn't say no to her mother. Luke was in the kitchen fixing lunch for everyone, watching out the window as the kids all ran around, chasing Jess, and laughing, with Paul Anka following along, in their big backyard that they never really had before. Lorelai smiled from where she was standing, then rolled her eyes when Luke growled at her to sit down.
'I'm fine Luke,' she said, sitting down at the dining table
'I know, you've just been on your feet all day, and up and down stairs probably isn't good for you all the time. So just sit, rest, take a break. I'm making lunch. Are you hungry?' he asked
'Pickles and chocolate dipping sauce,' she said, and Luke turned to her, eyebrow raised, horrified look on his face at her abnormal craving
'That is the strangest craving I've ever heard. But okay, here are the pickles, and the chocolate dipping sauce. Anything else?' he asked, kissing her when she shook her head.
Jess came into the house at that point, carrying his cousins on his back and legs, laughing when Luke told them to 'get off Jess'. He hugged Lorelai, asking her how she's feeling, and she nodded, offering him a pickle and sauce. He shook his head, sending a look to Luke who just shrugged. The Twins ran through the house, checking every room, and moments later, Ben came back down with a book, and Liam with his game console in his hands. Both kids sat at the kitchen table, engrossed in their activities, whilst sort of engaging in conversation with Jess. Katie had made herself comfortable in front of the TV with her 'toons' and a snack. Since he had last seen Rory, Jess has had a transformation of his own. Not long after, he had met a girl, the same age as him, named Taya. They've been dating steadily for six years, and Jess is seriously thinking about asking the girl to marry him, as they are living together, and have been talking about starting their own family. He tells all of this to Lorelai and Luke, the latter of who tears up (hormones), standing to hug Jess, adamantly telling him to do it, it's the best thing he can do. Luke nodded in agreeance, before also hugging his nephew. Jess felt a relief wash over him, and he asked Lorelai for her opinion on the ring he had brought for Taya, thinking that he could do it whilst in Stars Hollow, at that stupid Spring Festival that Taylor always throws. Lorelai gasped when she saw it, telling Jess that it was perfect, and that he absolutely must do it, he's all prepared. Knowing that he had the two most important people on his side, he decided that he would, whilst he's here. It had been a long time coming, but after Luke and Lorelai had married, Jess found himself bonding more with Lorelai than he ever had when he was dating Rory, and now that he and Rory are cousins by marriage, it would be strange to think that they were ever boyfriend and girlfriend. But Lorelai has been a big help to him, with a lot of things. After she lost her father, Jess helped her to understand the loss, in a way that even Rory couldn't, and they had formed a bond that way. So now, Jess is a little more open to Lorelai, and her joking ways. Also, he adores his cousins so much, and he's going to adore the new little one that is coming along soon as well. Jess made himself scarce, telling both Luke and Lorelai that he would catch up with them later, making sure that they knew they could call him if they needed anymore help with stuff around the house.
Lorelai hadn't known that her breasts would be sorer for this pregnancy, until Luke groped her the next morning, lying in their new bed, in their new bedroom, in their new house. She had shouted in pain so loud, Luke almost fell out of the bed, asking her what is wrong, if the baby is okay, but saw Lorelai holding her breasts, and immediately apologised. She forgave him but told him that they will now be off limits for the next five months. Sighing, Luke pouted, Lorelai scoffed at him, before rolling her eyes, and lifting her sleep shirt, so that he could get a good look at them, reaching over to pat them lightly, before nodding. Lorelai shook her head, getting off the bed, patting Chester, before heading into the shower, swaying her hips seductively, before throwing her sleep shirt out of the bathroom, near to where Luke was standing, smirking at him. The hormones haven't been too bad, then again, she is only four months in, with The Twins, everything was doubled. They had been assured by Dr. Heston, that this time, there was only one baby, and that at their five months check-up, they're going to hopefully be able to determine the sex. Luke wouldn't mind either way, but a part of him wants another boy, just to even things out. He loves his girls, and his sons, but they just need an even playing field. After her shower, Lorelai came out of the bathroom, grabbing a pregnancy bra out of the drawer, putting it on, before placing her hands on her stomach, which was showing slightly, and closed her eyes, silently praying to whatever movie deity, that her baby is healthy, and strong. Luke stepped up behind her, hands on her stomach, lightly rubbing over the small bump that had started to appear, running his hands up and down her body, narrowly avoiding her breasts, and the kick to the shin that comes along with forgetting that. They just stood like that for a moment, then Lorelai moved to get dressed, and Luke went downstairs (also already dressed) to start breakfast, before he has to get to the Diner. The Twins had found that walking to school now was easier, they're closer to the elementary school than they were before and had decided to leave there early. Luke and Lorelai, whomever was available in the mornings, would drop Katie off at the Kinder on their way to work. The Danes Children were pretty good friends with most of the kids in their grade and had developed somewhat of a reputation. But Liam seemed to be struggling to maintain his grades, despite being one of the best students at the school. Regardless of this, he enjoyed school. Back at the Lake House, Lorelai had just come downstairs, fed Paul Anka, and was now getting her things together to go to work, despite Luke's pleas that she not.
'Lorelai, you shouldn't be going to work. It's far too stressful for you and the baby. Besides, Dr. Heston recommended you take maternity leave as soon as you hit five months,' Luke said, hands on her hips, holding her close to him
'Luke, honey, I love you. I really do. But if I don't get out of this house, I am afraid I'm going to kill you, and I really want you, and need you to be alive, okay!' she said, patting his chest, before grabbing her bag, kissing him, and heading towards the door
'Are you coming by for lunch?' Luke asked, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear
'Probably, I think Sookie is meeting me there. We have some things about the new Dragonfly expansion to sort through,' she said, kissing him again, and winking as she walked out the front door
On March 12th, the day of the Spring Fling Festival, Rory and Eli finally moved into the Crapshack. Lorelai and Luke went over to help them out, and the Gilmore Girls spent most of the time-sharing stories from Rory's childhood and growing up here. Luke heard some stories that he had never heard before and lamented that he was always around when one of them needed something, and that this will always be the starting point for everything. He also promised Rory that if they needed anything fixed, to call him, and he'll come and help out. After the second lot of renovations, the house now has three rooms, the Master Bedroom upstairs, a smaller secondary room, Rory's old bedroom, and another, just off the back door, where the washer/dryer used to be, but that is now in another room, also off the back door. Eli had just been excited to finally settle down, and his work had allowed him to commute to Hartford, so it's only thirty minutes. Rory stood in the middle of the still empty living room, and looked around, smiling to herself, as Lori and Moni played at her feet. They had decided, that because Lori is the oldest, she should get Rory's old room, and had put her things in there, helping her to get set up. Whilst furnishing the house, Rory found some old things that she and her mother had forgotten about, and put them in a memory box, to be kept, and that she would show to Lorelai when she next sees her, because Luke has been keeping her mother under his foot, which she can tell bothers the Inn Owner, and she had warned Luke about that kind of thing… especially considering the past. Eli had had reservations about living in a small town, but after they had done unpacking, they took the girls to meet up with the others at the festival, and he suddenly understood why small towns were magical. Even though he hates having his personal life talked about, and everyone is so close, he will get used to that, because he has Rory, and his girls, and now he has calmness in his life, a calmness he never would have found in Chicago. Lorelai met up with her daughter, placing her five-year-old on the ground, as the Twins running over to greet their sister, before heading off to find their friends, leaving their mother with just a 'bye mom' and nothing else. Lorelai sat down, she had been finding it difficult to keep standing for long periods of time, which is strange, because she's only four months pregnant, and is hardly showing. Miss Patty made her way over to the Stone Family, introducing herself to Eli, and complimenting Rory on her choice of spouse, before questioning whether she wants to sign the girls up for ballet. They chat for a while, before Lane finds her best-friend, hugging her, and Zach and Eli disappear off to do… something.
When Rory heard through the grapevine that Jess was going to propose to his girlfriend today, she couldn't contain the excitement, as she (and the rest of the town) watched from afar, as Jess got down on one knee with the ring, and asked the question, before Taya was jumping up and down with excitement, obviously having said yes. Stars Hollow burst into cheers, and hoopla, the family of Jess moving over to hug and congratulate. At the forefront was Rory, there to congratulate her friend on finally having the guts to settle. With what had happened just now in the square, it made Rory think about the time that Eli proposed to her, and how she had been feeling about it at the time, considering that she'd essentially had Lori before they were technically married, and that sat with her for a while, until she and Eli were able to work through their problems. An idea suddenly struck Rory, and she quickly excused herself to run back to the Crapshack, where she bolted into the kitchen, where her laptop was, and opened the word document, quickly getting her thoughts down on the digital paper. Back in the square, Lane and Zach were trying to control their Twins, to prevent them from making a mess at the festival, despite the fact that the Danes Twins, were running the show. Lane had once tried to tell Luke this, but he had brushed it off as 'boys just being boys', and Lane had to step in and discipline. She isn't afraid of doing it again if that is what she must do. Lorelai had made her way to the Diner, where she slumped down at one of the empty chairs, resting her head on the table. Normally, she wouldn't have, but she just felt lethargic, and every part of her body was screaming at her to not move. Luke came out from the kitchen and saw his wife, moving over to her, asking if she was alright, Lorelai just groaned, before declaring that she had made a mistake, and needed some help. Luke lifted her, carried her bridal style out of the Diner, and over to the truck, which he had driven in case of something like this. He put Lorelai in the front, and got in the driver's side, heading back towards the Lake House, whilst trying to convince Lorelai that everything was alright, that she needs to stay awake. When they got home, Luke got her out of the car, and carried her upstairs to their bedroom, where he lay her on their bed and tucked her in, before calling Dr. Heston, who promised that she would be right over. Then he called Caesar to look after the Diner, because he has to look after Lorelai.
'Luke, the baby...' Lorelai said, hand on her stomach
'Dr. Heston is on her way. The baby is going to be fine okay. You're going to be fine. Just take deep breaths, and try to stay awake,' Luke said, running a hand through her hair
'If it's a boy, I want to name him Lucas. If it's a girl, Belle, or Lilly,' she said, and Luke smiled
'Those sound like really good names for a Danes baby,' Luke whispered, pressing a kiss to her lips
Rory and Eli had settled into their new home in Stars Hollow, and the girls had settled into their new schools. The notes that Rory had written down two days ago, were now swirling in her head, an idea for a book. She would make it Fiction, but a fiction that was loosely based on true events, detailing a story, similar to that of hers with Elijah. After the success of Gilmore Girls Rory had been struggling to come up with something to write, and it had taken a bit to get her confidence back, after Lorelai sort of panicked after she had finally read the book, feeling left out of the conversations that Emily and Luke would have about it, despite the fact that she lived it. She lived everything that happened in that book, and her daughter had written about it for the entire world to read, and judge and opine on. Even her husband had an opinion on it and was largely of the side that Rory had written something amazing, and that she should be proud. He was even proud of the parts that he was in, where she had talked about the lost year, between Luke and her mother, and how it had made both parties feel, and how she felt about it… and she had put everything… including her feelings about April appearing. The girl in question didn't mind, having been excited to know that she was going to be in a book, and promised to keep an open mind whilst reading it. But she was never offended by it. Lorelai, on the other hand… had struggled to pick it up. She had seen it, sitting on the night table by Luke's side of the bed, like it had been taunting her, calling to her to read it, but she couldn't. There were so many times in her life, where she had been so close to failure, that it had forced her to cry herself to sleep, hoping that Rory wouldn't hear her, or catch onto it. But regardless, that book had brought them all closer together [in a way], and it had allowed them to put closure on many things. For Lorelai, that was the catalyst for allowing herself to let go of the Crapshack and move here. Partly also, because they're about to have another baby, and that house was nowhere near going to be big enough for the five of them… let alone April and Rory when they come to stay… not that Rory needs to anymore, she has her own house now. This time, when Rory went over to visit her mother [truthfully it was actually to visit her library room], and told her about her new book, Lorelai was supportive. She told her daughter to write what she feels that it's her story she is telling this time, Lorelai has no say in it.
After her scare a couple of days ago, where Lorelai had thought that everything was over, Dr. Heston had put her on light duties, and bedrest, Michele' had also forced her to do this, complaining that she never lets him spread his wings, but really, showing that he cares for her immensely, by telling her that he and Sookie have things under control at both the Inn and the expansion, and that she should relax, that if they need her to help with anything, they will call or come over. Bedrest at four months… I am not sitting here for five months doing nothing… I know that I can do that for a few days… but not five months… Lorelai said to herself, and she moved around the house slowly, just making her way downstairs, to where the snacks and movies were kept. Plonking herself down on the sofa, and flicking the TV on, that is where Luke found her several hours later, after returning from a late shift at the Diner, the Twins and Katie in tow. He sent his kids up to shower and bed, then moved over to his wife, who even in the dim light, only coming from the TV, still looked amazing. Lorelai stirred slightly as Luke flicked the TV off, asking what was going on. The Diner Owner didn't want to start a fight right now, so he just woke her up a little more, grabbing her hand and leading her upstairs again, where Lorelai explained that she was bored of looking at the same four walls, and just went down to watch a movie. Luke didn't seem to like that answer, but accepted that she hadn't been doing anything strenuous, just chilling and watching. So, he can't really be mad at her. Lorelai fell to sleep almost instantly, letting Luke get changed into something comfortable for bed, before he climbed in beside her, an arm over her waist, pressing a kiss to her cheek, before they both settled for the night. It was a rough night. Luke woke at three am, his wife's side of the bed cold, and the light coming from the bathroom. He sat up, calling out to Lorelai, but there was no response. He pushed the bathroom door open, and saw Lorelai, bent over the toilet, retching. Three am morning sickness? Luke thought, kneeling beside his wife, rubbing her back, pressing a kiss to her hair when she sat back up groaning. There had been a discussion about whether Lorelai should have this baby or not, but she and Luke were both adamant that it was happening. Despite the numbers. Despite the complications. Despite the possible consequences. She's having this baby.
'Lorelai, try and stand. Come back to bed,' Luke said softly, grabbing her hand, to help her up
'Oh god…' she said, wobbling on her feet, collapsing. Luke caught her, panic starting to rise in his chest, as Lorelai turned and shoved her head back in the toilet bowl
'I'm calling Dr. Heston,' he managed to say, grabbing Lorelai's phone from the nightstand, and scrolling down to their doctor's number.
'Luke…' Lorelai groaned again, begging for it to end
A few days later, Lorelai was on the couch, in the living room, with saltine crackers, soda water, a bucket, a blanket, the remote, and all the channels you could think of. It was a lovely day outside, and Luke had this morning, opened the patio doors, so that the fresh air would come in, and so that Paul Anka could come and go as he pleased. That dog… still kicking. The kids were at school, and Rory was coming over to keep her mother company, because she can work on her book anywhere. Eli was with Lori and Moni, having some father/daughter bonding time, which simply just meant that he had taken the girls to the park, and then probably to the Soda Shoppe to get ice cream, before they meet back here for dinner. Sookie and Michele' had also been over to visit, and had shown Lorelai some plans for the expansion, which she had approved, feeling a little left out of the whole thing. By the time her daughter arrived, Lorelai was already bored with everything on TV, which is saying something, because she and Rory are the 'movie gals'. The journalist turned author flicked the TV over to Netflix and decided to show her mother the brilliance of a documentary that she and Eli had stumbled across whilst looking for something to watch. She had done with, on the off chance that her mother would fall asleep, because Luke said she hasn't been sleeping well. Low and behold, about forty minutes into the documentary, Lorelai had fallen asleep. Rory tucked the blanket around her, kissing her mother's cheek, before smiling and opening her laptop, to hopefully get some work done, whilst reruns of 'Friends' played in the background. Dr. Heston had been on the phone a lot with some of her colleagues, all of whom seem to think that placating a pregnancy at Lorelai's age, isn't going to end well. But something about this… she just knows that everything is going to be okay, she just has a good feeling, then again, she's been a doctor for a long time, she has been wrong before, and Lorelai is healthy, and seems to be trying to do the right thing for this pregnancy. She has faith that her patient will be alright, and so will the baby. Luke comes home for lunch and finds Rory writing whilst her mother is dozing beside her on the couch. He smiles at his Gilmore Girls, before asking Rory if she's hungry. They both take another glance at Lorelai, before heading towards the kitchen, which Rory teases Luke about 'loving more than his wife'. Rory whacks her stepfather's arm when he doesn't deny it, knowing that he's joking.
The little girl, with bright blue eyes, and dark curly hair is giggling happily in her crib. Her arms raised in the air, as if to say, 'pick me up'. When no one does, the little baby starts crying, and still, no one comes… Lorelai awakes with a start, a small noise escaping from her mouth, as she places a hand over her fast-beating heart, as if to calm herself down. The nightmare… the nightmare comes even during the day. She can't escape from it. The fear that she won't make it through this pregnancy, that she won't survive is real. It's there, and she can't escape from it. Of course, she bursts into tears, and it's Rory who sees her first, having returned to the lounge with a sandwich, depositing it on the table, when she sees her mother crying, kneeling on the couch beside her to hug her. She's scared. Scared that April's right… that she either won't survive, or the baby won't survive. Rory just holds her, softly whispering 'it's okay' in her ear, looking up at Luke when he enters the room, shooting her a look, but Rory just shakes her head, indicating for him to not worry, although of course, she sees the look on his face, the worry etched across it, and silently indicates to her stepfather to leave them alone to talk. Reluctantly, Luke nods, calling out that he's going back to the Diner, before taking one last look back at the Gilmore Girls, and leaving the house. Whatever is going on in his wife's head, Rory will be able to get to the bottom of it. The author listens as her mother describes her dream, and her fears, and how she has so many regrets. Rory pushes away from her slightly, asking her about the regrets, what regrets are making her feel like this, because she has a wonderful life. Lorelai nods, knowing that is true, but also knowing that she just can't shake the dread. Even when she was pregnant with the Twins, that was a difficult pregnancy, and an even more so with Katie, she was a difficult delivery. Her escalating fears about all these things have culminated in a panic attack, and now she's here, on the couch with her daughter, letting all this crap out, when she probably should be telling Luke about it. But she can't do that either. Imagine what he would think of her, thinking all these things are wrong, or going on. But nonetheless, she's been so excited about their new little bundle of joy, that she's completely put aside her fears… until now.
'Rory, we have to talk about everything… including the possibility that something bad could happen,' Lorelai said
'Mom, nothing bad is going to happen, you're just being paranoid,' Rory said, shocked when her mother bolted up off the sofa, standing over her
'RORY… You and Luke are so stubborn, refusing to think about everything. I need you both to understand the risks. I need you both to understand that if I don't make it… you have to save the baby… that is what you have to do,' Lorelai said, watching her daughter process what she had just said, before Rory stood up as well
'You're not going anywhere, because I need you, and so do the Twins, and Katie, and this baby… and Luke. Luke needs you mom. We all need you, so stop thinking like this,' Rory said, grabbing her laptop and running upstairs towards the library.
Since their argument, Rory has been avoiding her mother. But it's not because they had a fight, it's because deep down, she knows that what her mother said was true. They do need to think about those things, and how the consequences might come about, but she also doesn't want her mother to be thinking about things like that. She wants to believe that everything is going to be okay, that her mother, Lorelai Gilmore, is indestructible. She has to believe that. Everything is telling her to question it. To question the baby… but she can't. Luke saw Rory enter the Diner, automatically grabbing her a mug and pouring some coffee into it. She smiled, thanking him, before he went off to deliver some food to other people. It's not like she hasn't thought about those things. When April had given them some information about pregnancy in the later years, she had read it, and questioned everything, and made notes, and worried. She had called Paris, asking her what she thought, what she recommended. So, things had been tensed between Rory and her mother. But she doesn't know how to bring it up with Luke, without causing a massive argument between them, because the last time Lorelai tried to bring it up with her husband, he had stormed out of the house, and they found him passed out on the sofa the next morning. Needless to say, it hadn't gone well. Lori and Moni were having a blast in their respective schools, and Lori had already made a best friend, named Brenda. She and Brenda had been inseparable since they met, kind of how Lane and Rory were inseparable. Brenda had been over to the Stone house and had made plans to have sleepovers with the eldest Stone girl. Rory was happy to see her daughter so excited, and that she is making friends. They had also included Katie in their plans as well. She and Eli had been talking a lot about pregnancy, and babies since her mother told them that she's pregnant, and the topic of them having another baby had come up again. Rory doesn't know if she wants three kids. It's hard enough with their careers, and the two terrors that they have, let alone what would happen if you threw another into the mix. But Eli was adamant that he wanted a son. Of course, he had said that he would be happy either way, but he really wants a son. Rory had rolled her eyes but had promised to 'try'. Although now she's not so sure. Luke came back over to his stepdaughter and placed a burger and fries in front of her, whilst Rory just chuckled at how well Luke knows her. She thanked him.
Jess and his fiancée Taya had been back to New York to tell her parents about their engagement, and were now in Stars Hollow again, spending some time with Luke and Jess' mother and sister. Upon entering the Diner, Luke excitedly hugged his nephew, and his nephew's fiancée, before they took a seat at the counter beside Rory, Jess launching off into a discussion about the latest stories that he's been publishing, and how he can't 'wait for the next best seller by Rory Gilmore'. Taya had heard stories about Rory Gilmore. The girl who had changed Jess, who had helped him to become the man that he is today. Luke had also helped him, and she appreciated that as well. Since they had been back in Stars Hollow, Taya had been wary of Rory, but soon realised that she and Jess were just great friends, and she saw how dedicated Rory was to her girls and her husband, and Taya vowed to herself to get to know her fiancées best-friend/cousin. The conversation soon forced the three of them over to a table, where they sat chatting for what felt like hours. It must have been hours though, because by the time Rory checked the time on her phone, she saw that it was almost three, and she had to rush to pick the girls up, thanking Jess and Taya and promising to catch up with them before they leave again. Luke had watched the entire thing from where he was working, and smiled, thinking back to before things had calmed down. Lorelai's accident had brought a lot of them together in so many ways, and yet it was a tragedy… Luke still has nightmares about it, and sometimes that causes him to be overprotective of his wife, which he won't ever be ashamed of. So, if people think that he is ashamed, they can shove it up their asses. Luke was closing tonight. Lorelai had called him at lunch, told him that Sookie and Jackson were coming over for dinner, and that the chef was bringing all the food, so he doesn't have to rush home. The Twins met their father at the Diner, Luke put his son in a headlock as they exited the building, whilst Ben just walked along behind the two of them, holding his little sister's hand, rolling his eye. Luke has been adamant that their kids be active. Lorelai had let him have that. So, both Liam and Ben play Baseball, and football, and Katie is doing dance at Miss Patty's. She enjoys it but doesn't want to make a career out of it. She also enjoys creating things on the computer. She and April really hit it off over that.
'Dad, when is April coming to visit next?' Katie asked, as they crossed into their street
'Ah, I think she's going to come next month during Easter weekend. I was thinking we could go up to the cabin,' Luke replied, heading up the front path with his kids
'What about mom? Will she come with us?' Liam asked, noticing that his mother had been sitting around a lot lately
'Of course, she will, she just has to take it easy, and rest whilst she's there,' Luke replied, opening the front door, rolling his eyes as the Twins bolted into the house, shouting and shoving, whilst Katie just shook her head and scolded them in a very Lorelai-like way. Luke chuckled at his youngest daughter, scooping her up in his arms, and tickling her as he took her towards her bedroom
Luke woke up to some incredible sensations rushing through his body. He opened his eyes, and saw his wife, blowing him, her hands roaming over his body. Luke moaned, alerting her that he was awake, before his fingers tangled in her curls, and he guided her up towards him, allowing their lips to connect, whilst Lorelai impaled herself onto him, letting him fill her, both moaning at the sensation. Because of the pregnancy, Lorelai's body had changed a little. Her breasts were a little bigger, and Luke just wants to touch them. So, sue him, he's still a man. Momentarily forgetting that his wife's breasts would be sore, he groped them, quite hard, causing Lorelai to scream, which in turn made him jump, and his cock thrust further into her. Leaning forwards, the Inn Owner reminded him of the tenderness, and he nodded before apologising, flipping them over so that he was above her now, kissing down her chest, softly pressing kisses to her breasts, and nipples, which was actually kind of soothing, before the thrusting became quicker. Somehow, Lorelai's libido had become… heightened. With the Twins, sure they'd still had a sex life, but in the last week or so, something had clicked inside of his wife, and she was just horny all the time. Not that it mattered to Luke, he'd had so much sex in the last three days, he can't complain about it at all, especially considering that his wife is pregnant, and he's still trying to come off looking like decent guy. But he ran his thumb over the clit, and Lorelai came with a scream, he gave two more aborting thrusts, before coming as well, pulling out slowly, and moving down to kiss her belly, the bump showing slightly, working his way up her body, over her breasts, and towards her mouth, where she grinded herself against him, he could already feel the wetness of her folds, and she could already feel him getting hard again. Lorelai moaned, reached her hand down to grab Luke's cock, lining it up with her again, as he thrust into her. She had definitely broken the myth about sex in older age. She is still as ready to go as ever, and so is Luke. Especially with all that damn lingerie that she always buys just to torment him. Lorelai came again, and so did Luke, before rolling off her, and collapsing beside her, stating that he has to get up and dressed because he's 'opening the Diner this morning'. Lorelai groaned, still a little worked up, waiting until Luke had disappeared into their bathroom, before running her hand down her body, and playing with herself. She hasn't done this in a while, mostly because she and Luke have amazing sex. But her hormones are shot, and she can't keep expecting Luke to push himself. Of course, it's even more fun when Luke's exits the bathroom, sees what his wife is doing and mutters 'ah jeez Lorelai… 'before leaving the room to go to work with that image in his mind.
Rory, since she had told Eli that they could try for another baby, is also seemingly having a time with her own libido. Like for example, as her husband slowly undresses her, she finds herself extremely turned on. So much so, that her own fingers slip into her sex, and she moans, smirking at the look on Eli's face. The man in question just grabs her arms, pushing them above her head, leaning down to kiss Rory, gliding his cock against her wet folds, before slipping into her. Rory moans, begging her man to move, to do anything because he's just sitting there. Eventually, Eli pulls out slightly, then pounds back into his wife, letting go of her arms, to kiss her, caressing her face as they move together. Rory's spare hand goes to her clit, rubbing it in time with the thrusts from Eli, whilst his mouth is working at her nipples, and her neck, and the sensitive part just below her ear. When she had first had sex, she thought it was weird, having someone's hands all over her body, but she had lost her virginity to Dean, her first boyfriend, and whilst yes, he was married at the time, it had been amazing, and she doesn't regret the actually having sex part, she regrets the aftermath, the destruction of his marriage, and their second relationship. But sex with Eli is very different to sex with Dean and sex with Logan. Eli makes sure that she's cared for, that she feels all of it, that she's loved… the others didn't really do that. Rory is also loud in bed. She didn't know that until she met Eli, and he had pointed it out, then told her that he loves that she is. The author came with a shout of her husband's name, and Eli felt the clenching around him as he thrust harder into his wife, coming shortly after, filling her up all the way. Rory moaned when he pulled out, curling up next to him, and kissing him. Never tired after having sex, Eli began fingering his wife, feeling her writhe in pleasure beside him before they went in for round two. Just as they had both come down a third time, Rory's cell rang, and she reached over to answer it, hearing her mother's voice, asking her if she and Eli would like to come over for dinner tonight, because Sookie is cooking and it's going to be amazing. Rory agreed that it would be wonderful to see everyone again, because they haven't really had a lot of time, what with moving and working, and everything else, and promises to be there. During this time, Eli was teasing her body with his tongue, and was now slowly moving in and out of her, whilst Rory desperately fought to keep her cool whilst on the phone with her mother.
'Oh my god… ah yes. Yes, Eli and I are both coming… we're both… oh my god… 'she said again, and she could hear her mother's smirking
'Are you having sex whilst we're talking Rory?' Lorelai asked, and Rory could swear she heard Luke drop something on the other end of the line
'Ah no. No. Why… why would I be doing… oh my god…' she said again, whacking her husband, who was now eating her.
'I'm going to let you go. I have to calm Luke down so that he doesn't go over there and cut off Eli's um… manhood. We'll talk tonight,' Lorelai said, hanging up with a chuckle, as Rory moaned, throwing her head back.
It has started out as a simple day. Lorelai had gotten up, she had sat in the lounge with Katie, whilst the Twins ran around, getting ready for school, and whilst Luke made breakfast. He had taken today off, wanting to be with Lorelai, who had tried to convince her husband to go to work, but he didn't listen to her. Liam and Ben came to give their mother a kiss, before heading out the door to school, where Kirk was waiting for them. In this small town, it's easy to trust people, and for some reason, everyone that Luke and Lorelai seemed to have some problem with, the Twins are able to be friends with them. For example, Kirk has taken quite a liking to the twins, even going as far as almost acting like he's a child with them. Luke had been annoyed by this at first, but then he realised that it was just Kirk being Kirk, and let it slide. On the couch, Lorelai was watching some movie about the life cycle of a fish, and when Luke had questioned her, she had explained that she had just wanted to 'find something boring that would put her to sleep'. Chuckling to himself, Luke had gone into the kitchen to make something for his wife, coming back to find Lorelai with a hand on her stomach. He helped her to stand, figuring that she needed to throw up, and had to catch her when she collapsed in pain, Luke panicked, pressing a kiss to her temple as he tried to calm his wife down. He lifted her up, carried her out to the car, and placed her in the passenger seat, before rushing around and getting in, driving off before he'd even checked anything. They drove to the hospital in silence, Lorelai wasn't looking at him, silent tears falling down her face. Luke had called Dr. Heston on the way, and when they got there, she had a wheelchair waiting for Lorelai, which Luke helped her into, silently pushing her along. The doctor led them through to her office, and Lorelai got up on the small bed, lifting her shirt, looking away from Luke and the monitor. For a moment, everything stopped, then there was a thudding sound… a heartbeat… Lorelai's head snapped to the monitor, where they could see the baby, and hear the heartbeat, with Dr. Heston explaining that the pain she experienced was not due to a miscarriage, and that the baby looks to be okay. Luke kissed her, Lorelai burst into happy tears. After the joy of realising that she hadn't miscarried had passed, Dr. Heston explained to them that she's not out of the woods. Whilst the baby is doing fine, growing at a normal rate, Lorelai is not so great. Luke looked over at the doctor, holding his wife's hand, whilst she explained what the pain was caused by. The correct terminology was Placenta Previa. The possibility that Lorelai could bleed out during childbirth. It wasn't a great outcome.
Dr. Heston had given them some pamphlets and information about Lorelai's condition, and put her on light duties, meaning no work, no stress, no high salted foods, or sugars, no sex, no extreme sports. Basically, she just had to sit and relax. She could still help with the Dragonfly renovations, so long as she was sitting, and Michele' wasn't being a dick. When she had explained what could happen during the birth, Luke had freaked out. Just the thought of losing Lorelai had terrified him, and he had started talking about other things. Lorelai eventually just walked off, not wanting to hear it anymore. She doesn't want to think of the other options, and she needs him to understand that. Luke asked her to 'consider her own life', and Lorelai turned around, pointed her finger at him and told him, under no uncertain terms that if push comes to shove that he 'saves the baby'. Those were the words that reverberated through the house. Luke had stormed off, Lorelai had gone upstairs to lie down, the news that Dr. Heston had given them was fresh in their minds. Jess found his uncle, standing against the fence overlooking the small lake that ran through the back of the property, he'd been crying, Jess knew that, but he didn't say anything, pretending not to notice when Luke wiped his eyes as he approached. Placing a hand on his shoulder, the Diner Owner explained what had happened, and how stubborn Lorelai is being about it. That was when Jess stepped up and agreed with Lorelai. He told Luke that she is stubborn. She is a fighter. She's not going to have a baby and then leave… she'll fight. She'll fight for the baby, and for herself. Luke hugged his nephew, silently asking his parents if everything will work out, even though he doesn't believe in those things. The small bay window in the Master Bedroom was open, and Lorelai was sitting on the seat, knees up, arms wrapped around them, as she watched out the window. If it comes down to it, she doesn't want to die. She knows that. She would do anything for her kids. But she's also not afraid of it. Because she knows… she knows that this kid… for some reason, was meant to be. He [or she] is meant to do something great. That is why she knows that this is going to be okay. That's why she knows that Luke, and Rory and everyone else… will be okay. Her hand resting on her stomach, she smiles as the fresh breeze caresses her face, slightly blowing her curls back, as if the universe is talking to her. She hears the bedroom door open, and then Luke is in the room. He's nervous, shuffling from foot to foot, looking at the floor.
'You'll be okay Luke. If it comes to that, you'll be okay,' she said, but he was adamantly shaking his head
'No. It won't come to that okay. You're going to be here, to see our kids grow up and do amazing things Lorelai. You will!' he said, kneeling down beside her, she ran her hand through his hair, caressing his cheek
'I love you Luke, and I will always love you, and our kids and this life that we have built with each other,' she whispered, Luke stood up, bringing her with him, and kissed her
'I love you too Lorelai, you're my everything,' he said in between kisses shared.
A/N: I will upload another chapter of this story tonight, and that should be the final one until after Christmas, so we'll see how it goes. Thanks for reading. D.
