The Journey Begins

At Delibird Presents in Mesagoza, Lincoln and Clyde walk out of it. Clyde was holding what appeared to be a pendant with a jewel that resembled a waterdrop on it. Clyde pulls a pokeball from his belt and tosses it, releasing his Quaxly.

"Here you go, buddy." said Clyde. "This Mystic Water will make your water type moves stronger." He puts the pendant, now identified as a Mystic Water around Quaxly's neck.

"Man, I can't wait to get started on our Treasure Hunt assignments." said Lincoln with excitement in his voice.

"Me, too." said Clyde as he returns his Quaxly to his pokeball.

"Oyee, Lincoln and Clyde." said Nemona from behind them. They look to see her, along with Arven, walking over to them.

"Hey, everyone." said Lincoln.

"So, what are you going to do during your Treasure Hunts?" asked Nemona.

"We're not sure." said Lincoln. "We'll just see what happens."

"You should definitely try going for the Paldea Pokemon League." said Nemona.

"What's that?" asked Clyde.

"I remember learning about that back in Royal Woods from Travis the day I won the scholarship to Naranja Academy." said Lincoln. "It's an annual competition for trainers all over Paldea to see who the top trainer in the region is."

"Sounds exciting." said Clyde.

"Yeah; and in order to compete in it, I'll need to travel all over Paldea and challenge the eight Pokemon Gym Leaders in order to earn the eight badges I need to qualify." said Lincoln.

"Are you gonna go for it?" asked Nemona.

"He's gonna be too busy helping me take on the Titan Pokemon to get the Herba Mystica, so he's gonna have to pass on that." said Arven.

"Why would he waste his time looking for some sandwich ingredients when he can be battling to his heart's content in the Paldea League?" asked Nemona.

"Guys." said Lincoln. "I can do both."

"Really?" replied Nemona.

"Sure." said Lincoln. "Preparing for the Paldea League can help my Pokemon get stronger to take on the Titan Pokemon, and vice versa."

"That sounds okay as long as you're still helping me with the Titan Pokemon." said Arven.

"And they would be a good warm-up for the trainers who will be at the tournament." said Nemona.

"Sounds like you got a plan, buddy." said Clyde.

"What are you going to do, Clyde?" asked Nemona.

"I don't care as long as I get to do it with my best friend." said Clyde. Just then, Clyde's Rotom Phone flies out of his pocket.

"Hello, Clyde." said a voice that sounded distorted.

"Hi, Cassiopeia." said Clyde.

"Who's that?" asked Lincoln.

"Someone who called me while I was getting packed for the Treasure Hunt." said Clyde.

"Did you think about what we talked about earlier?" asked Cassiopeia.

"What did you talk about?" asked Lincoln.

"Well..." Clyde started to say.

Flashback:

Clyde was in his room, packing supplies for his Treasure Hunt assignment.

"This is going to me so awesome." said Clyde as he puts a few empty pokeballs into his backpack. "Travelling with my best buddy and having all sorts of adventures; this is going to be so cool!"

All of a sudden, his Rotom Phone flies off his desk and hovers in front of him.

"What's going on with my Rotom Phone?" asked Clyde. A voice was soon heard coming from it.

"Hello, Clyde." said a voice.

"Who are you?" asked Clyde.

"My name is Cassiopeia." said the voice now known as Cassiopeia.

"How did you get my number?" asked Clyde.

"Simple; I hacked your device." said Cassiopeia.

"WHAT?!" replied Clyde. "Is that even legal?"

"I don't know." said Cassiopeia.

"What do you want from me?" asked Clyde.

"Have you heard of Team Star?" asked Cassiopeia.

"Lincoln told me about them once." said Clyde. "They're a gang of bullies that go around, trying to force other students into joining them."

"Yes, I do remember that your friend was able to defeat two of them a while back." said Cassiopeia.

"What does Team Star have to do with me?" asked Clyde.

"I'm someone who's looking to bring down Team Star for good." said Cassiopeia.

"Why are you calling me then?" asked Clyde.

"I've been watching you for a while now and you have a lot of skill." said Cassiopeia. "I want your help to take down Team Star."

"What about Lincoln?" asked Clyde. "He already has experience taking on Team Star, so he'd be a good choice also."

"He can help if he wants to." said Cassiopeia."I am certain with your combined skills, you two can take down Team Star for good."

"And how exactly do we do that?" asked Clyde.

"Team Star has five bases all over Paldea. I want you and Lincoln to go to each one and battle each squad in Pokemon Battles that are at each one." said Cassiopeia.

"I guess that's simple enough." said Clyde.

"You don't have to answer right away. You can think it over for a while and I'll get back to you soon." said Cassiopeia.

"But again, why call me first?" asked Clyde. There was a long pause after that before Clyde's Rotom Phone flies back into his pocket.

End Flashback:

"So, what do you think?" asked Cassiopeia.

"Well, I don't like bullies getting in the way of students' educations." said Clyde. "I don't see why not."

"And if you need my help, you know I'll be right there with you, Clyde." said Lincoln.

"Excellent." said Cassiopeia. "I'll send the Team Star base locations to your Rotom Phone." A notification appears on Clyde's Rotom Phone, making him look at it to see a map of Paldea with five spots marked on it. "Each base specializes in one type of Pokemon, and they all have what types they have in their squad names."

"That should make it easy to prepare for them." said Clyde.

"I will get in touch with you when you reach the first base." said Cassiopeia. Clyde's Rotom Phone then flies back into his pocket.

"Are you sure you want to take on Team Star?" asked Nemona. "Those guys are bad news."

"I can't let bullies have their way around here." said Clyde.

"And he doesn't have to do it alone." said Lincoln. "I'll be right there if he needs me."

"I guess if Clyde has your help, he'll have a better chance." said Nemona. "But be careful."

"We will." said Lincoln. After that, Nemona and Arven each go off somewhere while Lincoln and Clyde walk towards the east gate of Mesagoza.

"Are you ready, buddy?" asked Clyde.

"Let me swap some of my Pokemon so I have a well-balanced team." said Lincoln. He then uses his Rotom Phone to swap his Hoppip for his Shellder, and his Vivillon for his Greavard.

"What moves does Shellder know?" asked Clyde. Lincoln then checks his Rotom Phone to give himself a review about Shellder's moves.

"My Shellder's a girl; she knows Tackle, Water Gun, Withdraw, Ice Shard, Leer, Supersonic, and Aurora Beam; and she has the Shell Armor ability which makes it so she can't take critical hits." said Lincoln.

After that, they continue to walk until they reached the east gate and look up at it.

"Our adventure starts now." said Clyde.

"We don't know what to expect out there." said Lincoln. "But between the two of us, we should be just fine."

"Let's go!" said Clyde. The two then exit through the gate, ready to start their journey.
