RusMona: Out of Reach

"Alright," Camille muttered as she looked at her list. "I just need sugar, and then I'm done."

She walked up to the aisle where the sugar usually was, and when she turned to the aisle, empty space greeted her. Her eyes frantically searched the area, finally seeing the sugar on the top shelf, at least one packet away from the edge. Her shoulders slumped, before she reached up on her toes, only to come up too short. She huffed and tried again. She was certain that she was a few centimetres closer that time.

"Oh, let me help you with that."

She looked behind her to see the chest of a tall man, reaching up towards the sugar. He took a bag without any problem and handed it to her.

"Thank you," she said, making sure to smile at him.

"Oh, I recognise you," he said. "You're the pretty girl who works at the bakery."

"I… I work at the bakery, yes. My name is Camille."

"I'm Ivan. Do you have anything else you need help with?"

"No, I'm fine. Thank you for everything."

"Of course. I'll come by this weekend to get a cake for my sister's birthday."

"If you like, you can order it beforehand to make it extra special for her."

"Oh, I would appreciate it. Would it be alright if I come by the bakery tomorrow? What times are you available?"

"I'll be there in the morning. But my brother would be more than happy to help you, if you would prefer the afternoon."

"No, I would prefer it if you were the one to help me. I'll see you tomorrow."

He walked away, and Camille was left wondering if he had been flirting with her. Regardless, she made a mental note to not tell Francis about any of this. She was not in the mood for his teasing.

So, I'm a bit vertically challenged. Turns out, I'm only 3 cm taller than Liechtenstein. My usual strategy when I'm at a store and the item I need is at the top shelf is to stretch and reach for it twice, before looking around. Usually, taller people that see this would come help.
