Chapter 71: Mikan Island Gym Challenge Ash vs Cissy
Hello everyone, it's finally time for Ash's gym challenge against Cissy I hope you all enjoy it!
The chapter begins the next day after the last one ended, we see the gang still riding on Lapras. As Lapras keeps swimming Leaf sees something up ahead and speaks.
"I see land!" Leaf says making everyone else look forward as an island comes into view Tracy speaks.
"There it is Mikan Island" Tracey says as Ash speaks.
"So, that's where my gym challenge is going to take place" Ash says to himself as Tracey speaks.
"I hear that the gym leader on Mikan Island is called the West Star and is very skilled" Tracey says making Ash interested as he speaks.
"A very skilled gym leader? Now I'm even more excited okay Lapras full speed ahead!" Ash says with Lapras nodding as she swims faster. 20 seconds later the group reaches the island Ash tells Lapras thank you and returns it to its Pokeball allowing the mon to rest. The group then walk to the Pokémon Center to heal their Pokémon. When they make to the center and heal their Pokémon Ash calls Prof. Oak. The phone rings 3 times until the old man appears on the screen, he looks at Ash and speaks.
"Oh, Ash, Leaf, and Misty it's nice to see you" Oak says with the 3 kids nodding as Ash speaks.
"It's great to see you too Professor we've just made it to Mikan Island for my first gym challenge" Ash says with the old man nodding Tracey then nervously walks over to the screen and speaks.
"Um hello Professor" Tracey says as Oak speaks.
"Hmm? And who might you be?" The old man asks as Ash speaks.
"This is Tracey he's our new traveling companion that joined us a couple days ago and is a Pokémon Watcher" Ash says with Oak nodding.
"A Pokémon Watcher? interesting I hear that they do great research on Pokémon. And you've been traveling with Ash, Misty, and Leaf for a couple of days? How come I didn't see you yesterday?" Oak asks as Tracey speaks.
"Well, you see I was nervous and couldn't build up the courage to speak to you, but I managed to do it today. Also, whenever we get to meet in person, I hope that you'll be able to look at my sketches" Tracey says as Oak speaks.
"I see and yes I would love to look at your sketches" Oak says happily making Tracy smile as he speaks.
"Thank you, Professor!" Tracy says happily as Oak then looks at Ash.
"Ash, you said that you're taking on the Mikan gym, yes?" Oak asks with Ash nodding as the old man continues to speak.
"I believe I've heard that she uses water type Pokémon" Oak says as Ash speaks.
"So, it's a water type gym then that means that I should use my electric and grass type Pokémon" Ash says as Misty speaks.
"Are you sure about that Ash? Remember what Nemona said yesterday that the gyms here are different" Misty says with Ash nodding as he speaks.
"Yeah, you're right in that case Professor can you send over Wartortle, Palpitoad, Froakie, Kingler and Dracovish? And I'll send Raichu, Hawlucha, Grovyle, Charcadet and Croconaw back as they need a break." Ash says with Oak nodding as he speaks.
"Why yes I'll go get them ready" Oak says with Ash nodding. 20 seconds later Oak puts the Pokémon in their Pokeball's and puts them on the transport machine with Ash doing the same. The transport machine turns on as the Pokeball's reach their respective destinations. Ash then grabs the 5 Pokeball's looks at Oak and speaks.
"I got them safe and sound Professor" Ash says with Oak saying the same as he speaks.
"Is there anything else Ash?" Oak asks as Ash speaks.
"Nope this is all thanks again" Ash says with Oak nodding as he turns off the video call. After that Ash smiles, he puts the balls on his belt and speaks.
"Alright I'm ready so where's the gym?" Ash asks as Leaf speaks.
"In the guide it says that once we leave the Pokémon Center we'll have to walk West, and the gym will be a building with an orange roof." Leaf says with the group nodding as Ash speaks.
"Okay let's go!" Ash says excitedly as he along with Misty, Leaf, and Tracey head for the gym. 10 minutes later the group keep walking until Leaf sees something in the distance.
"Yeah, I think that's the gym" Leaf says as everyone looks forward and sees the building Ash then speaks.
"Alright we're almost there" Ash says as he's about to run forward something catches his eye. He runs over to it and speaks.
"Cool it's a coconut!" Ash says excitedly as Misty speaks.
"Why's a random coconut there?" Misty questions as Ash speaks.
"I'm not sure but I was just getting thirsty here we go!" Ash says as he's about to bite the coconut a big stream of water comes down on him and Pikachu making them both wet. Leaf, Misty, and Tracey ask Ash if they're okay with the boy and mouse saying they are. After that Leaf, Misty, and Tracy chuckle a little bit making Ash glare at them as they all hear a voice.
"Hahaha! Looks like you fell for my trap" The voice says causing the group to look forward as they see a young boy having a smile on his face. The group look at him confused as Ash then looks at the coconut again and sees string that's attached to a water bucket that's on a tree branch the boy then speaks.
"You must be a pretty pathetic trainer if you fell for a trap like that hahaha" The boy says while laughing making Ash annoyed as he speaks.
"" Pathetic trainer?" I'll have you know that I competed in the Indigo league and made it to the Top 4!" Ash says as the boy speaks.
"Top 4? While that's impressive you didn't win the whole thing so in my eyes, you're weak and I'll show you just how weak you are" The boy says while taking out a Pokeball making Ash more annoyed as he speaks.
"Why you! Fine let's battle it's time I teach you a lesson!" Ash says while also pulling out a Pokeball as the two boys are about to begin everyone hears another voice.
"Senta!" The voice says making everyone turn around as they see a girl around Tracy's age wearing a black tank top with a long red dress and has short Auburn hair. She looks at the boy named Senta and speaks.
"You're not backing out of doing your chores today, are you?" The girl says with anger in her eyes as Senta speaks.
"No, I'm not I was about to do them until these 4 showed up" Senta responds while pointing at the group. The teen looks at them specifically Ash and Leaf then speaks.
"Wait aren't you Ash Ketchum and Leaf Green?" The girl asks with the 2 trainers nodding making the girl smile as she speaks.
"I knew I recognized you two I watched your Kanto league battles and was impressed by both of your skills" The girl says making Ash and Leaf smile as Senta speaks.
"Wait you mean to tell me that this is Ash Ketchum?!" Senta says with Ash nodding as he speaks.
"Yep, that's right and I'm here to challenge the Mikan Island gym" Ash says as the girl speaks.
"I see so you're here to challenge the gym well that make since in that case. I Cissy the West Star of the Orange Crew and Mikan Gym Leader accept your challenge!" Cissy says while having a confident look on her face surprising the group as Ash speaks.
"So, she's the gym leader" Ash says with Misty nodding. Leaf then looks over at Tracey sketching and speaks.
"Hey Tracey, what're you drawing?" Leaf asks as she looks over Tracey's shoulder and sees him sketching Cissy. Leaf along with Misty, Quaxly, Sobble, and even Togepi glare at him while Tracey tries to tell them that it's not what they think. After that they all head inside the gym they're currently at the battlefield with Ash and Cissy on their respective sides as Cissy speaks.
"Okay squirt let's do this" Cissy says as Ash speaks.
"Hey, I'm not a squirt!" Ash exclaims. In the background his friends chuckle making Ash glare at them Senta then speaks.
"Yeah, you may've made it to the top 4 in the Kanto League but you're still a squirt!" Senta says in a mocking tone as Cissy speaks.
"And you're an even smaller/more annoying squirt. Now move out of the way" Cissy says as she pushes the boy out of the way Ash speaks.
"Anyway, so how many Pokémon are we using for this battle?" Ash asks making Cissy confused as she speaks.
"Um you do know that we do things different in the Orange Islands right?" Cissy asks as Ash speaks.
"Oh yeah that's right Nemona did mention that not to expect a traditional battle" Ash says as Cissy speaks.
"Oh, you met Nemona she gave me a good challenge and she was right that I do things differently" Cissy says as Ash speaks.
"So, if we're not going to battle what're we doing instead?" Ash asks as Cissy speaks.
"I'm glad you asked" Cissy responds as she then snaps her fingers. The moment she does the battlefield turns into a water field surprising Ash along with his friends as Cissy speaks.
"Here in the Orange Islands, there are a couple gyms that revolve around battle but in my gym, you'll need to take on 3 challenges" Cissy says as Ash speaks.
"3 challenges?" Ash asks as Cissy speaks.
"That's right if you win 2 in a row, I'll give you the badge and you won't need to take on the 3rd challenge. But if you lose 2 in a row then you'll need to comeback for a rematch" Cissy says with Ash nodding as he speaks.
"Okay so what's the first challenge?" Ash asks as Cissy speaks.
"Here let me show you come on out!" Cissy says as she throws 5 Pokeball's in the air. When the balls open the 5-mons land in the water they consist of a Kingdra, Starmie, a water weasel Pokémon, a Pokémon that looks like a heart, and a Pokémon that looks like a bigger version of the heart Pokémon but has a more fish like appearance. Misty then gets hearts in her eyes and speaks.
"This is my first time seeing a Buizel, Luvdisc, and an Alomomola in real life they look so cool!" Misty says happily while Ash along with Leaf pull out their Pokedex's to scan the 3-mons.
"Buizel, the Sea Weasel Pokémon the pre evolved form of Floatzel and a pure Water type. It stores air in the sacs on its neck and uses them as flotation devices, and swims by spinning its two tails like a propeller." "Luvdisc, the Rendezvous Pokémon a pure Water type. Luvdisc group together during breeding season, covering the surface of the ocean in a brilliant pink." "Alomomola, the Caring Pokémon. A Water type. It can use Heal Pulse to help friends recover their energy and health" The Pokedex's say as Ash speaks.
"Whoa they all look cool!" Ash says with an excited look as Cissy speaks.
"Thank you and now it's time I show you the first challenge Senta if you please" Cissy says with the boy nodding he presses a button as the side wall opens showing the outside. Suddenly a Frisbee starts to fly, Cissy looks at her Kingdra and speaks.
"Kingdra use Water Gun!" Cissy says with the mon nodding as it fires the move and easily hits the flying disc destroying it completely. Cissy then looks at Ash and speaks.
"For the first challenge it'll be a contest to see who can destroy more discs. 30 discs will appear for each of us and the first one to make it to 30 is the winner" Cissy says with Ash nodding as he speaks.
"I see so that's why we're using 5 water types because it would be hard for one of them to hit all 30" Ash says with Cissy nodding as she speaks.
"Okay Ash now it's your turn bring out your Pokémon" Cissy says with Ash nodding as he speaks.
"Alright here they are everyone come out!" Ash says he throws his 5 Pokeballs in the air bringing out Wartortle, Kingler, Palpitoad, Froakie, and Dracovish. The moment Dracovish appears it immediately jumps into the water and begins to happily swim as Ash speaks.
"Dracovish wait we're not here to play" Ash says but the mon ignores him as it continues to happily swim. Cissy along with her brother and Pokémon look at Dracovish curiously as Cissy speaks.
"I've never seen a Pokémon like that before" Cissy says as Ash speaks.
"I bet this is Dracovish it was just recently discovered" Ash says with Cissy nodding as she speaks.
"I see well do you think It's ready for this challenge?" Cissy asks as Ash speaks.
"Yeah, it's more than ready!" Ash responds with his other Pokémon nodding making Cissy smile Ash then looks at Dracovish and speaks.
"Hey Dracovish, you can continue to play later when this challenge is over" Ash says with Dracovish nodding as it goes to stand next to Ash and the rest of its teammates Cissy speaks.
"Well, I take it that you're now ready?" Cissy asks with Ash nodding making the girl smile as she speaks.
"Okay then let the challenge begin!" Cissy says as Senta presses a button which immediately shoots out 2-discs Ash and Cissy speak.
"Wartortle Water Gun!" "Kingdra Water Gun!" Both trainers call the two mons quickly fire their moves and hit the disc earning each of them a point. Ash then looks at Wartortle and speaks.
"Way to go Wartortle!" Ash says with his other water types saying the same thing making the turtle smile as Cissy speaks.
"Okay let's see how you deal with this Senta!" Cissy says as her brother presses the button again which fires 3 discs this time for both Cissy and Ash. The 3 discs go fast as Ash and Cissy speak.
"Froakie, Kingler, Dracovish Water Gun!" "Buizel, Starmie, Luvdisc Water Gun!" Both trainers call the 6-mons quickly fire their attacks and they all manage to hit their respective disc earning their trainers 3 points Cissy then speaks.
"Again!" Cissy says with Senta nodding he quickly presses the button releasing not just one or 3 but 5 discs for both Ash and Cissy that are going really fast Cissy then speaks.
"Starmie, Alomomola, Luvdisc, Buizel, Kingdra Water Gun!" Cissy calls the 5-mons quickly fire their moves and easily destroy the 5-discs earning Cissy 5 points. Cissy smiles as Ash speaks.
"We're not done yet Palpitoad quick use Hydro Pump!" Ash calls Palpitoad nods as it quickly fires a large stream of water that hits all 5 discs easily destroying them and earning Ash 5 points too. Ash smiles and speaks.
"Yeah, way to go Palpitoad!" Ash says happily making Palpitoad smile as Cissy speaks.
"Not bad Ash but we're far from over" Cissy says as Ash speaks.
"Oh, don't worry I know and we're going to win!" Ash says while having a confident look on his face with his Pokémon having the same look as Cissy smiles. After that Ash and Cissy continue the competition, their Pokémon continue to hit the discs, but they do miss a few as the discs were going too fast. They keep going until both Ash and Cissy have 29 points and just need 1 more point to win. Cissy looks at Ash and speaks.
"Well, I must say Ash your Pokémon are doing a great job" Cissy says as Ash speaks.
"Thanks, and we're getting the final point!" Ash says with his Pokémon cheering in agreement Cissy smiles and speaks.
"Okay then let's see how you deal with this last one Senta!" Cissy says with Senta nodding he presses a button as a Frisbee appears going fast as Ash speaks.
"It's faster than the other ones but I'm confident that we'll hit it Okay Water Gun and Hydro Pump!" Ash calls his Pokémon fire their moves but are unable to hit the disc making Ash grit his teeth as Cissy speaks.
"Water Gun!" Cissy calls her Pokémon fire their moves too but are also unable to hit the disc. When the disc disappears, another appears going faster than the previous one Ash and Cissy look at it and call for their commands.
"Water Gun!" Both trainers call Ash's Wartortle and Cissy's Kingdra fire their moves and seemingly hit the disc at the same time easily destroying it as Ash speaks.
"So, um how do we decide on who won?" Ash asks as Cissy speaks.
"Let's ask your friend" Cissy says as Ash turns around and looks at Tracey who's wearing binoculars. When Tracey puts the binoculars away Leaf speaks.
"So, Tracey who won?" Leaf asks as Tracey speaks.
"I hate to say this, but Kingdra's Water Gun was a little bit faster than Wartortle's so Cissy's the winner" Tracey says surprising Ash along with his Pokémon as Cissy speaks.
"Great job Kingdra!" Cissy says happily as the mon swims over to Cissy allowing her to pet it. Cissy's other Pokémon swim over too allowing her to pet them as Cissy tells them good job making the 5-mons smile. Off to the side Ash's friends are surprised by the outcome as Misty speaks.
"Darn Ash was close" Misty says as Leaf speaks.
"Yeah, but Kingdra was faster" Leaf says with Misty and Tracey nodding. Back on the battlefield Ash's Pokémon are sad that they lost the challenge for their trainer as Ash speaks.
"Hey guys it's okay you did your best besides I have 2 challenges left so I'm confident that I can win those and get the badge" Ash says in confidence making his Pokémon smile. Ash then looks over at Cissy and speaks.
"So, what's the next challenge?" Ash asks as Cissy speaks.
"The next challenge will take place outside come on" Cissy says as she returns her Pokémon with Ash doing the same as they all go outside. As they continue to walk outside, they reach what looks like a racetrack. The group is surprised by how big it is as Cissy speaks.
"This is where our next challenge will take place, it'll be a relay race" Cissy says as Ash speaks.
"A relay race?" Ash asks with Cissy nodding as she continues.
"Yes, our Pokémon will start here at the beginning then sprint forward until they reach their teammate. After that the next course will have our Pokémon swim through a lake and race to reach the other side. The next course will have our Pokémon run on a rocky terrain and dodge boulders. The next course will have our Pokémon climb up a hill then when they reach the top their next team member will have to go downhill. Lastly the final stretch of the race will be a full-on sprint to the finish line and whoever makes it first is the winner" Cissy says with Ash nodding in understanding as Cissy speaks.
"As you can see the racecourse needs Pokémon that are capable of running on it and it would be best to switch. I've a transport machine over there for you to switch out your Pokémon" Cissy says as Ash speaks.
"Whoa thanks Cissy" Ash says happily as Cissy speaks.
"No problem I'm going to go switch my Pokémon too let's meet back here in 10 minutes" Cissy says with Ash nodding as he along with his friends go to the transport machine. When they make it, Ash dials the number, and the phone begins to ring. As the phone continues to ring Tracey speaks.
"Do you have Pokémon that can run on that course Ash?" Tracey asks as Ash speaks.
"Yep, I've the perfect 6 in mind" Ash responds with Tracey nodding. After that Prof. Oak appears on the screen and Ash begins to talk to him.
10 minutes later both Ash and Cissy are back at the racecourse they look at each other as Cissy speaks.
"So, have you picked out your 6 Pokémon?" Cissy asks with Ash nodding as he pulls out the 6 Pokeballs (Pikachu's still here he's just next to Misty, Leaf, and Tracey and Ash still has Lapras's Pokeball) and speaks.
"Yep, and here they are come out guys!" Ash says he throws the 6 balls in the air they open as the 6 mons appear. They consist of Tauros, Aqua, Blaze, Lee, Pyroar, and Arcanine. The 6-mons let out a mighty roar creating a shockwave showcasing their power. Cissy looks at them smiles then speaks.
"Not a bad collection of Pokémon you got there and now it's time I show you mine!" Cissy says as she also throws 6 Pokeballs in the air sending out her Pokémon. Cissy's Pokémon consists of Bouffalant, Galarian Rapidash, Zebstrika, Mudsdale, Gogoat, and a Kanto Rapidash. The 6-mons let out a roar too showcasing their power, they then look over at Ash's Pokémon and begin glaring at them with Ash's Pokémon glaring back as Misty speaks.
"It's a good thing that this is just a race and not a battle" Misty says with Tracey, Leaf, Pikachu, Quaxly, Sobble, and Togepi nodding. Meanwhile back with Ash and Cissy their Pokémon continue to glare at each other as Cissy speaks.
"I like that your Pokémon aren't backing down Ash because sometimes my Pokémon scare my opponents" Cissy says as Ash speaks.
"My Pokémon never back down from a challenge and we'll win!" Ash says with his Pokémon roaring in agreement making Cissy smile as she speaks.
"Okay then I guess it's time we begin, discuss with your Pokémon on what area's you want them to run, and I'll do the same. Then when that's done, we'll head to the starting line" Cissy says with Ash nodding as both trainers begin to discuss with their Pokémon. 1 minute later both Ash and Cissy are done they look at each other as Cissy speaks.
"So, Ash which Pokémon are you starting with first?" Cissy asks as Ash speaks.
"I'm starting with Tauros" Ash responds as the bull walks next to him Cissy speaks.
"I see good choice the Pokémon I'm starting with is my Zebstrika I hope your Tauros can keep up" Cissy says as the electric horse walks next to her and glares at Ash's Tauros with Tauros glaring back Ash then speaks.
"Don't worry about that my Tauros can definitely keep up!" Ash says while having a determined look on his face with Tauros having the same look as Cissy speaks.
"Okay, then it's time we start let's send our other 5 Pokémon to their areas and head to the starting line" Cissy says with Ash nodding as he looks at his Pokémon and speaks.
"Okay guys let's do this!" Ash says with his Pokémon nodding after that Aqua, Lee, Blaze, Pyroar, and Arcanine go to their areas along with Cissy's 5 Pokémon. When that happens Ash and Cissy get on Tauros's and Zebstrika's backs respectively then head to the starting line. When they make it Senta's in front of them he's holding two flags then speaks.
"This is a relay race once you make it to your next Pokémon the trainer will ride on that one until they switch. Pokémon moves are allowed but you can't attack each other, and whoever makes it to the finish line first will be declared the winner. Do both trainers understand these rules?" Senta asks with Ash and Cissy nodding Senta then speaks.
"Okay, Now let the relay race begin!" Senta says and as soon as he said that both Tauros and Zebstrika instantly shoot forward going at a fast speed while their trainers hold on. While Tauros and Zebstrika are running off to the side we see Ash's friends as Misty speaks.
"Wow they're both going really fast" Misty says as Tracey speaks.
"Yes, they're and it's making it difficult to sketch them" Tracey says while trying to sketch the two mons Leaf speaks.
"Go! Ash and Tauros!" "Pika!" "Quax!" "Sob!" "Prri!" Leaf along with Pikachu, Quaxly, Sobble, and Togepi cheer. Meanwhile, back on the racetrack Tauros and Zebstrika are neck and neck while trying to pass each other Ash speaks.
"Come on Tauros, you can do it!" Ash cheers with Tauros nodding it lets out a mighty roar and begins going faster and passes Zebstrika getting further away as Cissy speaks.
"Not bad but it's time to speed up Zebstrika" Cissy says with the electric horse nodding it begins to spark its body as Cissy calls for a command.
"Zebstrika use Wild Charge!" Cissy calls Zebstrika roars as it covers its body in electricity and starts going faster until it's next to Tauros and Ash. Ash and Tauros look at them as Cissy smiles. She then turns her head forward as her Zebstrika completely passes Tauros and continues to run forward Ash then speaks.
"We're not letting them win Tauros use Giga Impact!" Ash calls Tauros lets out a mighty roar it covers its body in an orange sphere with purple streaks and shoots forward. As Tauros's catching up to Zebstrika Cissy speaks.
Keep going Zebstrika!" Cissy calls with the electric horse nodding as it continues to run faster with Tauros closely behind. As they continue to run Ash and Cissy see Aqua and Bouffalant up ahead of them both mons are waiting for their respective trainer as Ash speaks.
"We're almost there Tauros pass Zebstrika!" Ash calls Tauros roars it goes faster until it's next to Zebstrika and begins to pass it. Just when Tauros's about to completely pass Zebstrika Cissy speaks.
"Zebstrika launch me!" Cissy calls with the electric horse nodding as it slows down and launches its trainer forward. Everyone has surprised looks on their faces as they see Cissy safely land on Bouffalant's back. The girl looks at the buffalo and speaks.
"Swim Bouffalant!" Cissy says with the mon nodding as it jumps into the water and begins to quickly swim forward. Off to the side Leaf speaks.
"I wasn't expecting Cissy to do that is that even allowed?" Leaf asks as Misty speaks.
"There was nothing in the rules saying that she couldn't do that, and she is the gym leader too" Misty answers with Leaf nodding meanwhile Tracey's currently sketching Cissy being launched. Back to the race Tauros has finally made it to Aqua, Ash quickly gets on Aqua's back looks at Tauros and speaks.
"Thanks Tauros take a good rest" Ash says with Tauros nodding who's panting heavily Ash then looks at Aqua and speaks.
"Let's go Aqua!" Ash says with Aqua nodding as it jumps into the water and begins to quickly swim towards Bouffalant who's farther away. Aqua tries its best to catch up to Bouffalant but the buffalo is too fast Cissy has a smile on her face then speaks.
"That's it Bouffalant keep going we're almost there!" Cissy says with the mon nodding as it begins to swim faster. Meanwhile with Ash and Aqua Ash begins to think.
"This is bad even though Aqua's a water type he's having trouble catching up to Bouffalant. Cissy trained her Bouffalant to swim really well in water if I don't think of something soon, we're going to be left far behind" Ash says to himself as he's thinking of something Aqua's thinking of something too. Aqua doesn't want to let his trainer down but even if he used Raging Bull, it still wouldn't be able to catch up. Aqua doesn't want to give up, he'll go faster no matter what and lets out a mighty roar surprising Ash as he speaks.
"Aqua?" Ash says when he says that he notices Aqua's horns glowing even more blue than before, covers its body in water and its 3 tails turn into a rudder. Aqua continues to roar as it shoots forward at an insane speed and easily passes Cissy and Bouffalant as Cissy speaks.
"What the?" Cissy says in shock as off to the side Leaf speaks.
"Is that Raging Bull?" Leaf asks as Misty speaks.
"No, it looks similar but feels more powerful do you know Tracey?" Misty asks as she along with Leaf look at Tracey the teen speaks.
"Hmmm if I remember correctly, I believe it's a move called Wave Crash" Tracy responds as Misty and Leaf speak.
"Wave Crash?" The 2 girls say as Tracey speaks.
"It's a move similar to Aqua's version of Raging Bull where the user surrounds itself in water and crashes into the target with extreme force. But unlike Raging Bull Wave Crash will not only cause recoil damage to the user but also increase the users speed" Tracey says with the 2 girls nodding as Misty speaks.
"So Aqua must've learned this move in order to help Ash win" Misty says as Leaf speaks.
"Yeah and look at how fast they're going" Leaf says as back on the lake Aqua's going extremely fast with Ash doing his best to hold on, far behind them are Cissy and Bouffalant who're still surprised Cissy then shakes her head and speaks.
"Heh he's really interesting let's keep going Bouffalant!" Cissy says with the buffalo nodding as it continues to swim forward. Meanwhile with Ash and Aqua they continue to go forward until they manage to reach the other side of the lake and make it to land. Both Ash and Aqua are panting heavily as Ash speaks.
"Man, Aqua I wasn't expecting for you to learn a new move but thank you as we're now back in the lead. Ash says with Aqua nodding as it continues to pant, Lee then walks over to them and tells Ash to get on its back with Ash nodding as he does just that. As they're about to leave Ash looks at Aqua and speaks.
"Go join Tauros and take a rest Aqua you deserve it okay Lee let's go!" Ash says as Lee roars and begins to quickly run forward. When Aqua's done panting it stands back up and begins walking over to Tauros. Meanwhile, Cissy and Bouffalant finally made it. Cissy quickly gets on Mudsdale's back then looks at Bouffalant and speaks.
"Thanks, Bouffalant okay Mudsdale let's go!" Cissy says with the horse roaring as it begins to run forward. On the rocky terrain Lee's easily running through it and is evading the boulders Ash smiles and speaks.
"Yeah! let's keep going just like this Lee!" Ash says with Lee nodding as it continues to run, they then hear Cissy's voice.
"Mudsdale High Horsepower!" Cissy calls making Ash and Lee look back as they see Mudsdale easily destroying multiple boulders that stand in its way. Ash along with Lee are surprised as Cissy speaks.
"You're not getting away from us that easily Ash keep going Mudsdale!" Cissy calls Mudsdale roars as it continues destroying boulders and is getting closer to Lee Ash then speaks.
"This is bad Lee let's do the same use Raging Bull and destroy the boulders in your way!" Ash calls Lee nods as it lets out a mighty roar. Lee's horns glow orange and covers its body in an orange aura. Lee then starts running faster and is easily destroying the boulders in its way trying his best to stay in the lead as Cissy speaks.
"Keep going Mudsdale!" Cissy calls Mudsdale roars as it begins to run faster too and continues to destroy boulders until it's right next to Lee. The 2-mons are neck and neck they are running forward destroying many boulders in their way. They keep running until they reach Ash's Pyroar and Cissy's Gogoat who are next to a wall that has steps. Ash and Cissy quickly get their respective Pokemon they tell Lee and Mudsdale thank you then speak.
"Let's go Pyroar!" "Climb Gogoat!" Both trainers call the 2-mons quickly jump on the wall and begin to quickly climb. As they're climbing Cissy's Gogoat's doing well as it jumps from step to step, getting higher. Meanwhile, Ash's Pyroar is keeping up but isn't as fast as Gogoat, and even when Ash has Pyroar use Flame Charge the fire lion is still unable to catch up. Off to the side Leaf speaks.
"Looks like Pyroar's having trouble while Gogoat isn't" Leaf says as Tracey speaks.
"Gogoats are known to be able to climb up steep cliffs, so this is much easier for Gogoat than for Pyroar." Tracey says with Leaf nodding. Back to the wall Pyroar and Gogoat keep climbing until Gogoat manages to reach the top of the wall first. Cissy tells Gogoat thank you gets on her Galarian Rapidash and speaks.
"Let's go Rapidash!" Cissy says with the horse nodding as it begins to slide down. A couple seconds later Pyroar manages to finally reach the top Ash tells Pyroar thank you he quickly gets on Blaze's back and speaks.
"Let's go Blaze!" Ash says with Blaze nodding as it also begins to slide down too going after Cissy and Galarian Rapidash. As they're sliding down there are holes that Blaze and Galarian Rapidash almost fall into but both mons manage to move past them. Blaze almost fell into one of the holes but managed to jump over it at last second and continues to slide down. The 2-mons continue to slide and are getting closer to the bottom. As the bottom's coming into view, we see Ash's Hisuian Arcanine and Cissy's Kanto Rapidash looking up and waiting for their respective trainers. When Blaze's about to close the gap between it and Galarian Rapidash Cissy speaks.
"Rapidash use Agility!" Cissy calls with the fairy horse nodding as it begins to speed up, going faster and increasing the gap between it and Blaze as Ash speaks.
"Blaze Flame Charge!" Ash calls Blaze covers its body in fire and begins sliding down the hill faster. Unfortunately for Ash and Blaze Cissy and Galarian Rapidash reach the bottom first. Cissy quickly gets on her Kanto Rapidash and speaks.
"Go Rapidash!" Cissy calls the fire horse nods as it begins to quickly run forward heading for the finish line. Meanwhile, Blaze manages to make it to the bottom of the hill Ash quickly gets on Arcanine's back tells Blaze thank you and speaks.
"Let's go Arcanine!" Ash calls the fire dog nods as it begins to quickly run forward. Up ahead Cissy rides on her Rapidash and is going fast Cissy then looks behind and sees Arcanine catching up to them. Cissy looks forward and speaks.
"They're gaining on us Rapidash use Flame Charge!" Cissy calls Rapidash quickly heats up its body and begins to run faster getting farther away from Arcanine Ash then speaks.
"Two can play at this game Arcanine you use Flame Charge too!" Ash calls Arcanine nods as it covers its body in fire runs faster and manages to easily close the gap between it and Rapidash. The 2-mons are now neck and neck and are trying to pass each other but their opponent won't let it happen. The finish line is now coming into view as Cissy speaks.
"Rapidash we're winning this heat up more and use Flare Blitz!" Cissy calls her Rapidash lets out a mighty roar as its orange flames become a burning blue. Rapidash begins to go even faster heading for the finish line as Misty speaks.
"This is bad Cissy's Rapidash is going to reach the finish line first" Misty says in concern as Tracey speaks.
"Ash needs to do something and fast" Tracey says in a concern tone. Meanwhile Leaf along with Pikachu, Quaxly, Sobble, Togepi, Tauros, Aqua, Lee, Pyroar, and Blaze cheer loudly for Ash and Arcanine. Back on the track Arcanine keeps running as Ash speaks.
"We're not losing this Arcanine use Raging Fury!" Ash calls Arcanine lets out a mighty roar, its eyes become a bright crimson and the flames on its body become more intense. Arcanine then shoots forward at a fast speed and reaches Rapidash instantly surprising Cissy and the fire horse. Cissy looks at Ash, smiles and speaks.
"You've surprised me a lot in this race Ash but I'm not losing increase your speed Rapidash!" Cissy calls Rapidash roars it begins to burn more intensely and goes faster as Ash speaks.
"We're not losing either more speed Arcanine!" Ash calls Arcanine roars it burns more intensely too and runs faster keeping up with Rapidash. The 2-mons keep running forward and are burning the track below their feet. The finish line's coming into view, it's getting closer and closer as Ash and Cissy yell.
"GOOOOOO! ARCANINE!" "GOOOOOO! RAPIDASH!" Both trainers call the 2-mons let out a mighty roar and continue going faster and faster. As they're running Rapidash's about to pass Arcanine but the fire dog won't let it as it gains more speed and goes past Rapidash. Arcanine keeps running forward until it eventually disappears. Everyone has surprised looks on their faces as they see Arcanine on the other side of the finish line panting heavily with Ash having a confused look on his face. A couple seconds later Senta quickly recomposes himself. He looks at his sister who nods allowing him to make the call.
"Arcanine passed the finish line first making it and the challenger Ash the winners of the second challenge!" Senta says Ash then recomposes himself, gets a smile on his face and speaks.
"Alright!" Ash cheers while Arcanine lets out a howl in victory. Off to the side Ash's Pokemon and friends cheer for him too as Tracey speaks.
"I'm not sure how but Ash's Arcanine did it" Tracey says as Misty speaks.
"In order to win the race for Ash it seems like Arcanine learned Extreme Speed allowing it to go faster and beat Rapidash" Misty says with Tracey nodding while Leaf along with Ash's Pokemon continue to cheer. Back on the racetrack Ash gets off Arcanines back looks at the fire dog and speaks.
"Great job Arcanine we did it and congrats on learning Extreme Speed" Ash says making the fire dog smile as it begins to happily lick Ash's face making the boy smile. As that's happening Tauros, Aqua, Lee, Pyroar, and Blaze appear Ash looks at them and speaks.
"I can't forget about you guys you did great too thank you" Ash says making the 5-mons smile. After that Cissy along with her Pokémon walk over when they get close enough Cissy looks at Ash and speaks.
"Nice job Ash you managed to beat me in the race but it's still too early to celebrate as we've one more challenge left" Cissy says with Ash nodding as he speaks.
"Yeah, I know and I'm going to win that one too!" Ash says in confidence with his Pokémon roaring in agreement making Cissy smile. 5 minutes later the group have left the racetrack and are now at a beach Cissy then speaks.
"The final challenge will be a Surfing relay Race" Cissy says as Ash speaks.
"A Surfing relay race?" Ash says with Cissy nodding as she continues.
"That's right we'll surf on top of our Pokémon and ride over to that flag and back. Also, we'll only be using 2 water Pokémon" Cissy says with Ash nodding Cissy then pulls out 2 Pokeballs and speaks.
"Here are my 2 Pokemon Blastoise, Sharpedo come out!" Cissy says she throws the 2 balls forward as a Blastoise and a shark like Pokémon appear. They both have serious looks on their faces as Ash speaks.
"Whoa that's a big Blastoise and who's the other Pokémon?" Ash says as he along with Leaf take out their Pokedex's to scan the mon.
"Sharpedo, the Brutal Pokémon a Water/Dark type. Sharpedo can shoot out a jet of water, allowing it to swim at 80 miles per hour. Due to their sharp fangs, they're highly feared and known as "The Gangs of the Sea." The Pokedex says as Ash speaks.
"I see I've to say it looks pretty cool" Ash says with his friends agreeing as Cissy speaks.
"Thanks Ash and seeing as you still have the Pokémon from the previous race you can switch one of them out for another one of your water Pokémon" Cissy says with Ash nodding as he speaks.
"Thanks, I'll be right back" Ash says as he quickly runs to the transport machine and dials the number calling Prof. Oak. 2 minutes later Ash comes back Cissy looks at him and speaks.
"So, do you have your 2 Pokémon ready?" Cissy asks as Ash speaks.
"Yep, and here they are Gyarados, Lapras I choose you!" Ash says he throws the 2 balls high in the air as the 2 mons appear. Gyarados lets out a mighty roar while Lapras has a smile on her face. Cissy looks at the 2 mons and speaks.
"I remember watching your Gyarados battle in the Kanto league and was impressed by its power. But now that I see it up close, I can feel the strength it has. Also, your Lapras looks pretty young." Cissy says as Ash speaks.
"Thanks, and yeah, you're right about my Gyarados being strong and it's also a strong swimmer. As for my Lapras I did just catch her recently but I'm confident that she'll help me in this challenge" Ash says in confidence with the 2-mons nodding making Cissy smile. Meanwhile, off to the side Tracey speaks.
"Gyarados and Lapras are great Pokémon for this challenge" Tracey says with Misty and Leaf nodding as Cissy speaks.
"Okay Ash so which Pokémon are you using first? For me I'm using Sharpedo" Cissy says as Ash speaks.
"I'll be using Gyarados first" Ash responds with Cissy nodding Ash then looks at Lapras and speaks.
"Make sure to pay close attention Lapras" Ash says with the transport Pokémon nodding as Cissy speaks.
"Okay let's get this match started ready Sharpedo?" Cissy asks with the shark nodding as Ash speaks.
"Let's do this Gyarados!" Ash says with the sea serpent nodding. After that Gyarados and Sharpedo go into the water with Ash and Cissy standing on their backs, Ash's having a bit of trouble standing on Gyarados's back as Misty speaks.
"Are you okay Ash?" Misty asks as Ash speaks.
"Yeah, I'm fine!" Ash responds as Cissy speaks.
"Make sure not to fall in the water because that means that you lose, okay" Cissy says as Ash speaks.
"Don't worry I won't, and I'll leave you in my dust'" Ash responds as he readjusts himself and manages to stand on Gyarados's back. Cissy smirks as Senta speaks.
"Ready... Go!" Senta says as he shoots the starting gun. The moment he does Gyarados and Sharpedo instantly shoot forward and start swimming towards the flag. As the 2-mons are swimming Ash still has some trouble standing on Gyarados's back but manages to stay on. Ash then notices Sharpedo starting to gain the lead and speaks.
"Gyarados don't let Sharpedo get in front!" Ash says with the sea serpent nodding as it starts to swim faster Cissy speaks.
"Nice try Ash but that won't work Go! Sharpedo!" Cissy says with the shark nodding Sharpedo glows red for a few seconds and begins to speed up more getting farther away from Gyarados as Ash speaks.
"It has the Speed Boost ability?!" Ash says in surprise, Cissy then looks back and smirks at him she turns her head forward as Sharpedo keeps swimming Ash then speaks.
"You're not the only ones to increase your speed Gyarados use Dragon Dance then Bounce!" Ash calls Gyarados lets out a mighty roar as purple draconic energy dances around it increasing its speed. Gyarados then glows blue and shoots forward at an insane speed going pass Cissy and Sharpedo. Ash then looks back at them and speaks.
"Hah take that!" Ash says with a smirk as Cissy speaks.
"You're fast but how will you deal with the turn?!" Cissy asks making Ash confused as he speaks.
"Turn?" Ash says he looks forward and sees the flag coming into view. Ash then remembers that he needs to make a turn, he looks at Gyarados and speaks.
"Gyarados slow down!" Ash calls Gyarados tries but can't in time as the sea serpent goes pass the flag and stops 10 feet away. Meanwhile, Sharpedo easily makes the turn as Cissy speaks.
"Great job Sharpedo now let's hurry to Blastoise!" Cissy says with the shark nodding it activates its Speed Boost ability and heads for Blastoise. Back with Ash and Gyarados they see Cissy and Sharpedo heading over to Blastoise Ash then speaks.
"We may've not been able to make the turn but your faster in a straight line" Ash says with the sea serpent nodding as Ash speaks.
"Okay Gyarados use another Dragon Dance then use Bounce!" Ash calls Gyarados roars it increases its speed again glows blue and shoots forward at blinding speed. While Sharpedo keeps swimming it along with Cissy see Gyarados coming after them at an insane speed as Ash speaks.
"That's it Gyarados keep going and let's pass them!" Ash says with Gyarados roaring it keeps swimming faster as it's about to close the distance between it and Sharpedo Cissy smirks then speaks.
"Sharpedo Aqua Jet!" Cissy calls surprising Ash as Sharpedo covers its body in water and shoots forward instantly reaching Blastoise. Ash along with his friends and Pokemon have surprised looks on their faces as Leaf speaks.
"I see so after Sharpedo increased its speed with Speed Boost Cissy knew that Ash would try and have Gyarados close the gap with a Dragon Dance boosted Bounce. So, when Gyarados was able to close the distance between them Cissy called for Sharpedo to use Aqua Jet at last second allowing Sharpedo to reach Blastoise in an instant and put them in the lead" Leaf says as Misty speaks.
"But that speed was insane I've never seen a Sharpedo move that fast while using Aqua Jet before" Misty says with Leaf and Tracey nodding. They then see Cissy get on Blastoise's back and speak.
"Let's go Blastoise!" Cissy says with the turtle nodding as it begins to swim forward. A couple seconds later Gyarados makes it back to the beach, Ash quickly gets off Gyarados's back and speaks.
"Thank you Gyarados and take a good rest. Come on Lapras!" Ash says with the transport Pokémon nodding. Ash quickly stands on Lapras's back as the transport Pokémon begins to quickly swim. As Lapras is swimming it manages to reach Blastoise which surprises Cissy and the sea turtle as Ash speaks.
"Great job Lapras now let's pass them" Ash says with the transport Pokemon nodding. When Lapras goes to pass Blastoise Cissy speaks.
"We won't let you knock them away Blastoise!" Cissy says with the turtle nodding as it knocks into Lapras trying to push it away and almost makes Ash fall but he manages to catch himself. Ash looks at Cissy and speaks.
"Let's hit them back Lapras!" Ash says with Lapras nodding as it hits Blastoise and knocks it back a little bit, but the turtle shakes it off. After that Lapras and Blastoise keep ramming into each other trying to knock their opponent away. As they keep doing that Lapras begins to feel overwhelmed as Blastoise's much stronger but doesn't give up. When Lapras and Blastoise clash again Ash almost falls over, but Lapras manages to catch Ash with her mouth causing the transport Pokemon to stop as she safely puts Ash on her back. Ash looks at Lapras and speaks.
"Thanks, Lapras" Ash says with the mon nodding after that Blastoise shoots past them as Cissy speaks.
"I'm taking the lead!" Cissy says making both Ash and Lapras annoyed as Lapras continues to swim. We then see Blastoise make the turn with Lapras not too far behind it, Lapras then catches up to Blastoise the 2-mons are now neck and neck and are heading for the finish line while Ash's friends along with Pikachu and Gyarados are cheering them on Cissy then speaks.
"You're not bad Ash" Cissy says with Ash saying the same thing as Lapras and Blastoise keep swimming suddenly a large wave appears behind the 2-mons surprising them along with their trainers. Lapras looks at the wave and fires an Ice Beam which freezes part of the wave. The other part then comes crashing down on Cissy and Blastoise causing Cissy to fall off the turtle. Just when Cissy's about to fall in the water Blastoise appears and manages to have Cissy land on its back Cissy then speaks.
"Thank you Blastoise" Cissy says with the turtle nodding Blastoise continues to swim forward until it's next to Lapras again Cissy speaks.
"Let's end this Blastoise use Aqua Jet!" Cissy calls Blastoise covers its body in water and shoots forward going fast. Back on the shore Tracey speaks.
"This is bad now that Blastoise increased its speed it'll be a lot harder for Lapras to keep up!" Tracey says in concern as Misty and Leaf speak.
"Ash, Lapras you can do it!" The two girls cheer along with Pikachu, Gyarados, Quaxly, Sobble, and Togepi. Back to the race Ash and Lapras see Blastoise and Cissy getting further away as Ash speaks.
"I need to think of something quick or I'll lose" Ash says to himself as he begins to think he remembers Lapras firing an Ice Beam at the wave. He then gets an idea, looks at Lapras and speaks.
"Lapras use Ice Beam on the water and make it go towards the finish line!" Ash calls with Lapras nodding she quickly fires the ice beam on the water creating an ice slide that reaches the finish line. Lapras then gets on the ice and begins to slide on it reaching Blastoise instantly. Cissy and Blastoise have surprised looks on their faces as Tracey speaks.
"I see so he's having Lapras slide on the ice to boost its speed incredible" Tracey says in amazement while the others cheer. Back to the race Lapras and Blastoise are neck and neck they continue to head for the finish line as Cissy speaks.
"More speed Blastoise we're almost there!" Cissy says with Blastoise roaring as it begins to go faster Ash speaks.
"Come on Lapras you can do it!" Ash says with Lapras nodding as it begins to slide faster. Lapras and Blastoise keep going getting closer to the finish line, as they're about to cross it Ash and Cissy yell.
"GOOOO!" The 2 trainers yell with their Pokemon yelling too as they both reach the finish line with Lapras crossing it first. After that Lapras comes to a stop at the beach and accidentally launches Ash off her back making the boy crash face first into a tree. Ash then falls on the ground groaning in pain Pikachu and Gyarados quickly go to him as Ash speaks.
"Pikachu, Gyarados, and Lapras we did it we won!" Ash says happily making the 2 mons along with Lapras smile. Off to the side Misty, Leaf, and Tracey happily cheer for Ash and run over to him congratulating him as Ash tells them thank you. Meanwhile with Cissy her Blastoise is sad that it lost as Cissy speaks.
"It's okay Blastoise you and Sharpedo did great" Cissy says with the 2-mons nodding. Cissy along with her brother then walk over to Ash and friends. When they're close enough Ash looks at Cissy as she speaks.
"I wasn't expecting you to have Lapras freeze the water to make a slide to the finish line that surprised me. But I guess I shouldn't be too surprised as you did make it to the Top 4 in the Kanto League." Cissy says with Ash nodding as she continues to speak.
"Seeing as you've won 2 challenges and I've only won 1 you've completed my gym. Here take this badge it's called the Coral-Eye Badge it's proof of you beating my gym" Cissy says she hands the badge over to Ash making the boy smile as he speaks.
"I just got the Coral-Eye Badge!" Ash says happily while his Pokémon let out a loud cheer in victory Leaf then speaks.
"Congrats Ash, you got the badge!" Leaf says with Ash nodding as Misty speaks.
"That badge looks so pretty maybe I should've competed" Misty says as Ash smirks and speaks.
"Nah you'd lose" Ash says in a mocking tone making Misty annoyed.
"What was that?!" Misty says in anger, but Ash quickly turns away as Tracey speaks.
"Alright lets calm down you at least got to see a cool showdown" Tracey says with Misty nodding she then looks at Tracey sketching a picture of Cissy riding on Blastoise and speaks.
"Is that what you were observing the entire time?" Misty asks while glaring with Leaf, Sobble, Quaxly, and Togepi glaring at him too as Tracey speaks.
"Huh? What this it's nothing" Tracey says with a nervous chuckle and a slight blush, but Misty and Leaf continue to glare at him. Meanwhile with Ash and Cissy, Cissy looks at Ash and speaks.
"Now that you've beaten my gym which gym will you challenge next?" Cissy asks as Ash speaks.
"Hmmm? Let's see Nemona said that she was going to challenge the Navel Island Gym next, so I'll go there" Ash responds with Cissy nodding as she speaks.
"I see well good luck as that gym leader's also pretty tough" Cissy says with Ash nodding. After that the group say goodbye to Cissy and Senta and head to the Pokémon Center for Ash to heal his Pokémon. As the group is waiting for Ash's Pokémon Misty sees a poster on the center's wall making her curious. Misty walks over to the poster, reads it and gets a big smile on her face. Ash, Leaf, and Tracey walk over to her when they make it Ash speaks.
"What're you looking at Misty?" Ash asks as Misty turns to them and speaks.
"On this poster it says that there'll be a water tournament on Mandarin Island to see who the strongest water type trainer is" Misty says the group look at the poster as Leaf speaks.
"Whoa that's cool are you going to compete Misty?" Leaf asks as Misty speaks.
"Of course, as this will help not only further my goal at being a Water Pokémon Master but also gain more reputation for the Cerulean Gym" Misty responds with the group nodding as Ash speaks.
"A water tournament huh? Sounds fun I'm entering too it'll be great training for my water types" Ash says as Leaf speaks.
"I'm going to enter too it!" Leaf says happily as Misty speaks.
"That's fine with me and I'll defeat both of you" Misty states while having a determined look on her face with Sobble, Quaxly, and Togepi having the same look. Ash and Leaf smile then speak.
"The one who'll win will be me!" The two trainers say while also having determined looks the 3 trainers continue to look at each other until they start to laugh. A few seconds later when they're done laughing Ash speaks.
"By the way when is the tournament anyway?" Ash asks as Tracey speaks.
"It says that the tournament will take place in a few weeks, and it also says that Kanto Elite 4 member Lorelai will be one of the judges" Tracey says making the 3 trainers more excited. After that Ash's Pokémon have fully healed the group leave the center and head to a beach so Ash can send out Lapras. When they make it to the beach Ash sends out Lapras, Lapras lets the 4 trainers get on her back as the mon begins to swim forward Ash then speaks.
"Next stop Navel Island!" "Pika!" Ash and Pikachu say excitedly with his friends smiling. Lapras continues to swim into the sunset as the chapter comes to an end.

While it was a little redundant, I decided to have another relay race challenge as I thought it would be fun, I enjoyed writing it and Aqua along with Arcanine learned new moves. Looks like Misty's goal for this arc will be for her to compete in the water tournament on Mandarin Island and win so she can progress her goal and give the Cerulean gym more recognition.
Next chapter will come out in 2 weeks it'll mainly focus on Ash training his Pokémon and he meets 3 trainers who'll also be his rivals for this arc. Can you guys guess who? I just know that you guys are going to be pretty surprised on who these trainers are and 2 of Ash's Pokémon will evolve.
