Day 11: bad habits
Ruffnut paced around the room waiting for Snotlout to get back; he had gone out hunting with some of the other Jorgensons and had promised to be back before it was dark. Well, it was way after dark and she was pissed. No doubt alcohol was involved. A drink or two was fine but Snotlout always had too much and when he was drunk he was made of pure rage and was extremely lazy, more than normal anyway.
"Mama, when is dad gonna get home?" Ruffnut turned around to see that her daughter had woken up and decided to search the house for her father.
"Don't worry about it Saddie, just head back to bed," Ruffnut answered, hearing the sound of Snotlout approaching and not wanting her five-year-old daughter to be in his range of drunken anger. Turning to face the door Ruffnut's soft smile dropped and was replaced with a scowl. When Snotlout walked in she could practically smell the alcohol coming off him.
"What," he asked, noticing his wife's irritation. When she didn't answer he continued "So it was a little bit later than I expected but does it really matter?"
"Really, 'does it matter?' Yeah, it does actually. It was your daughter's birthday and instead of spending time with her you went out and got drunk!"
Snotlout rolled his eyes, muttering something about going to say hi to her before trying to head to Saddie's room. However, Ruffnut stopped him. "When we got married I had told you I didn't want kids because I didn't think it was something we could handle but you convinced me it would be fine. I believed in you and thought you were going to be a great father, turns out I was wrong, you're just as bad as Spitelout." Snotlout could feel his blood boiling, how dare she say that? She knew what he went through with his father so why compare them?
"Don't you dare say that again you bitch!" Snotlout yelled, his palm colliding with her face. Without another word, he stormed out of the hut. Ruffnut let out a shaky breath and slid her back down the wall. She placed her head on her knees but no tears came, she couldn't cry yet she had to be strong and get herself and Saddie out of the house of nightmares. Packing a few essential items and grabbing her daughter, Ruffnut ran as fast as she could to the one person she knew would help her.
