Chapter 7: Echoes of Truth

In the midst of the tense atmosphere, Padme began advancing with deliberate steps towards Obi-Wan, her eyes ablaze with an intensity that made Obi-Wan flinch inwardly.

Padme: (simmering anger) Why is Anakin missing his limbs?

Padme: (fury) You raised him, he was like a son to you. The Jedi took him from his mother as a child, only to watch him be hijacked by a Sith Lord before their very eyes. Why didn't you even try to bring him back to the light?

Obi-Wan, shaken by Padme's accusations, felt a pang of shame course through him. He struggled to meet her piercing gaze, his expression a mix of regret and remorse.

He knew he had failed Anakin in many ways, and the weight of that realization was heavy upon him.

As Padme's emotions surged, she pressed on, her voice trembling slightly with grief.

Padme: (trembling)Where are our children?

Obi-Wan, torn between his duty to protect the children and his reverence for the Jedi's commitment to the greater good, hesitated.

Obi-Wan: They are hidden, for their own protection.

Padme: (voice rose in defiance) Protection from what? I demand you bring them back! They were conceived in love, a concept you know nothing about. They belong with us. I will not tolerate the Jedi using my children against their father!

Her words hit Obi-Wan hard, a stark realization dawning upon him. He smiled sadly.

Obi-Wan:(deep sadness) Contrary to your belief, I know about love and the pain of heartache…more than I would like…

He pauses also acknowledging the depth of her love and pain, silently admitting to his own shortcomings.

In that charged moment, Anakin, unable to bear the tension, spoke for the first time to his former master.

Anakin:(with regret) I'm sorry… for everything. Palpatine is dead.

Obi-Wan: (shock wide eye) WHAT?

Anakin: Yes. I did what I should have done days ago before I came here. Please, give our children back to Padme. She deserves them, unlike me.

As emotions threatened to erupt, Qui-Gon Jinn appeared with Shmi.

Obi-Wan seeing Anakin mother looks away in shame. When he raises his gaze again and to his surprise, Shmi is smiling at him with no hint of anger.

Qui-Gon then says, his voice a soothing presence.

Qui-Gon: The Force intervened bringing Padme back. But she wasn't the only one…You should look for yourself what else changed.

Obi-Wan and Anakin, initially hesitant, closed their eyes and reached out through the Force as Qui-Gon urged. Their senses reeled in shock for both, overwhelming happiness for Obi-Wan and immense relief for Anakin as they felt a surge. Every Jedi previously believed lost were now alive again.

Amidst this revelation, the doctor arrived with the specialised chamber for Anakin.
