Soon sundown, Back at the hut everyone was busy trying to unwind after the first phase of the plan was completed. Except for Marshall however, who stood against the bark of a tree as he braced himself. "Hold still Mawshall, This is fow youw own good" Zuma assured as he held the up the hose to his friend, letting the water spray out smacking the Dalmatian all of his fur to wash away the garbage that had already seeped into his fur. Ryder watched with a smirk as Marshall first yelped from the cold water but then continuously laughed as the water seemed to hit the right spots.
Ryder turned to walk away as he saw Lou sitting inside the small trailer, it was already starting to get dark, but the lights weren't even on. However, Ryder could see a small beam of light protruding from out the small windows of the trailer leading Ryder to investigate. "Lou?" He asked, hearing small crashes inside before seeing Lou exit out the Trailer, a bit winded and dazzled in fact. "Whats going on?"
"Just looking at stuff, The lights in this trailer aren't exactly hazard free. Tonight, we go after Jello the Judge, He lives in a manor in the nicest community in Katt County, and when I say nicest, I mean the most patrolled by the Sheriff's Department."
"Oh, So getting there will be a problem" Ryder stated with his arms crossed, trying to brainstorm another idea. "Actually, his property is connected to the Forrest, so we can use the trees as cover, but if the alarms go up then almost the entire department will respond"
So when you're all done with whatever it is you need doing, We can get a move on, Best to go during night after all" Lou stated, gaining a nod from Ryder as he looked back at all his doggy friends busy getting Marshall as squeaky clean.
"Also, I wanna ask something else, Are you sure Mr. Maple hates dogs?"
"As sure as the grass is green, You doubting me?"
"No offense but a little bit, There was this picture in the shop of him and his family, and he was hugging a dog, Seems a bit weird" Ryder pointed out, looking back at Lou who seemed to be a bit annoyed, and disappointed. "Ryder that picture is fake, He uses it to fool dogs with the same sob story about his family, but deep down he's an emotionless and heartless monster. I've seen him sell out countless dogs to the Police"
"Yeah, you're right, He was emotionless when he was talking about the picture, so couldn't be that hard to think he just made things up"
"Trust me Ryder, that's how they get you, when your guard it down and you think they aren't the enemy, get ready to roll out" Lou finally stated, grabbing stuffed dark jacket as he stepped out, Ryder thought about his words some more before realizing he was right. Cats like Mr. Maple didn't deserve any sympathy.
After which everything had been settled, it was game time once more. All crouched around the property of Jello's Manor and his garden all blocked off by a large fence. Lou introduced as he laid out his plan. "You think Zuma and Rubble will be okay back at the hut?" Skye asked.
"I'm sure they'll be fine, We need someone to keep a watch on the place after all, anyways here the plan, I'll keep watch outside with this police scanner for any radio chatter in the area, All of you can find a way inside, sneak into his office on the second floor, and then grab a copy of his files off of his office computer" Lou stated, reaching into his Jacket to flaunt a police scanner radio.
"Haha, Finally some action " Marshall stated, hoping up and down as he just couldn't contain his own excitement. "Quiet action please, I don't doubt every cop in the county would respond to a break and enter into one of the county's court judges. So for the love of whatever God you pray to, don't be seen" He pleaded.
"Don't worry Lou, We got this" Ryder exclaimed as all the dogs nodded back in understanding, after that they had turned around to face the fence, grabbing a firm grip as one by one each dog climbed up the thin poles of the fences upward.
"Goodluck" Lou whispered finally as they all landed on the other side of the fences, running for quick cover on the side of a fuzzy bush. "Alright, Its too much of a risk if all of us went inside, so only two will go in" Ryder laid out, already seeing Marshall's hyper attitude to being the one to go in.
"Ouuu Pick me Pick me, I'll be super quiet"
"Doubt that, Rocky and I could go in and try get the files, I'm small enough to crawl through vents and spot Jello and Rocky can hack into his Computer so can grab the files" Skye offered, using her sharp wit. "Solid plan, Ryder and I can keep watch outside and tell you guys where they'll be from the first floor"
"Cool, So what's my job?" Marshall asked.
"Stay out of trouble" They all said in unison looking at the Dalmatian. His ears flopped down and his eyes widened to try and squeeze a 'yes' instead, however the decision was final. "Alright, Paw Patrol is on a roll" Ryder said as they all broke off in different directions as per their roles, except for Marshall of course who just sat discontent behind the bush with his paws cross and his muzzle pouted. Rocky and Skye ran around to the side of the large manor, trying to spot a way inside, and found a way they did. "Look, up there" Rocky pointed up, motioning to a window that was wide open with an orange room light glazing out from it.
As well as other lights in the house that were on. "Rocky, I just saw a cat on the first floor, fat with white fur, I think that's Jello" Chase's voice came through the mixed breed's tag, relaying any information as he looked through the window on the other side of the manor. "We found a window to the second floor, I don't know how we're going to get up there though" Rocky replied into his pup tag before feeling Skye's paw gesture him out of the way for a clear view. "Leave it to me" was all she said before running up the wall at full speed, jumping up and lifting herself upward with momentum.
Grabbing onto a first-floor windowsill, hopping from one to another like monkey bars until pulling herself up just a little bit to see in through the window. Inside Skye saw many decorations fit for a child, playful posters on the walls, toys all over the floor and a bunker bed. On the top bunk was a small kitten playing with a small toy car, making it race along the sheets of his bed. Skye looked back down at Rocky and smiled, feeling quite proud of herself as she carefully climbed inside.
Her paws slowly and carefully walking past the bed, hearing the kitten making the sound effects of his play as she passed him. Skye reached out to grab the door handle until suddenly seeing it jiggle. Skye panicked, throwing herself underneath the bunk bed and covering her mouth to not let even a single peep get out. The cockapoo heard the sound of the door pushing open, she could only watch and listen as she saw cat like paws walking around the bed, standing firmly still.
"Polko, Your father and I are heading out soon, Theres plenty of sandwiches, juice, and fish slices in the fridge, If you need help with anything just ask the babysitter, okay sweetie?" The feline asked, obviously female and obviously the kitten's mother. "Okay mommy" He said, leaning over to his mother give her a hug. Skye slowly started to move around, looking for any way out before looking at the wall she was just inches away from, there was a vent just big enough to fit her.
Using her paws to twist the bolts of the sides, gently but hasteful as well, not wanting to stay long. "Why can I come with you?" The kitten asked his mother. "I already told you; This little party is for grownups, you'll understand when you're older" She proclaimed, fixing her long grey fur with one stroke of her paw. "Besides, Theres nothing for a kitten like you to enjoy at the party, all boring grownup stuff, you can stay here and play for hours with that babysitter that should be here any second now" She said.
Skye couldn't help but eavesdrop on the conversation as she finished screwing off all the bolts of the vent. She did have to admit, it seemed very much like a healthy and loving bond between a mother and her child. "Don't have too much fun though, We'll be back late, and I better see you in bed when I get back too" She said, giving the kitten a final kiss before turning tail and walking toward the door.
"Wait, can you check underneath my beds for monster one more time?" The Kitten asked, his eyes like the ones a puppy would make. This request striking fear in Skye's heart, as she frantically moved the vent out of the way.
"Polko, Your father and I keep saying to you, Theres no such thing as monsters" She said, hearing the tiredness in her voice, knowing this wasn't the first time she's had to do this today. "Pleeeeease" He squealed, The mother rolled her eyes and got down to the ground, her cheek against the floor as she looked underneath, seeing nothing, except for an open vent.
"Huh weird, I thought that vent was sealed, I'll have to ask your father to screw it back in when we're back. No Monsters like I said, Goodbye Polko" She said, walking out the door and gently closing it on her way out. Meanwhile Skye was deep in the vents, gently crawling through. "I'm in the Vents, Also Jello and his wife are leaving the house, This is perfect" Skye stated, everyone else was elated to the news, this was going to be easier than expect. "Awesome, When they leave you just can just let me in through the front door" Rocky pointed out.
"Actually, Theres a kid in here and a babysitter is on its way" Skye replied, leaving all of paw patrol a bit perplexed on how to handle this one. "A babysitter and a child, Im sure we can think of something to get around that" Ryder said before being nudged by the German shepherd right beside him.
"I'm seeing Jello in the living room, he looks worried" Chase claimed, letting Ryder get a good view through the window to indeed see Jello, pacing up and down in the living room. Looking down at his watch, waiting on something.
Skye continued to crawl through the vents, eventually reaching the living room, peering through another vent to look down and see the white furred cat in an anxious state. Suddenly looking up as he saw his wife walk in. "Polko is fine, Ready?"
"I'm ready, but the babysitter hasn't gotten here yet" He said, both looking anxious as they both starred at the clock. Thinking how much time was going to pass before they needed to go and be on their way. Meanwhile outside Marshall laid down with his back against the stone tiling, looking up at the night sky. Counting away the stars since there was nothing else better that he was allowed to do.
Meanwhile back at the hut and trailer, Zuma and Rubble were busy gathering firewood, as per the request of Lou if they all wanted to stay warm that night. "It'll be cool he says, Go out and explowe he says" Zuma mumbled to himself after picking up stick after stick for the night fire.
"Hey Zuma, do you think these berries are poisonous?" The bulldog asked, emerging from around a tree with a small branch of berries in his paw. Zuma shrugged in response; he wasn't a berries expert after all. "Huh, only one way to find out" Rubble said, opening wide his mouth to shovel down one berry to see, Zuma suddenly throwing down all his sticks in his possession to slap the berries out of Rubble's paw.
"Dude" Zuma sterned said, he only said one word, but truly he only really need to get his point across. "What, Im hungry" Rubble protested. "Is thewe a time when you awent?" Zuma asked, posing a somewhat true question. "Hmmmm, I bet Lou has some food in the trailer" Rubble ran past Zuma, darting toward the trailer.
"Wait!" Zuma shouted as they both reached the door of the small old mobile home. "Dude, This is Lou's privacy" Zuma said as Rubble opened the door to the trailer. "Nothing private to hide in the fridge" Rubble Insightly said, taking a quick glance inside before stepping in. It was majorly cramped, no room for any free walking, for human that is. Rubble bounced up and down on the old bed as he looked beside it to see a small mini fridge. "Jackpot" He said, already thinking about the wonders inside.
Zuma rolled his eyes, before looking to his side and seeing a small folder lying flat on a small table, recognizing it to be the one Lou stolen from Mr. Maple in the morning. Zuma knew it was private and it really was none of his business to peep, but he just couldn't resist. Turning the first page of the cover to look inside. "Woah, look at all this" Zuma motioned for Rubble to come over and see what he was seeing, the British bulldog freezing for a moment as he was raiding Lou's small fridge.
"243….244….245….246…." He continued, waving his paws in a dazing motion in the air, using his imagination to try and make it slightly more entertaining. Wish I was back at the hut with Zuma and Rubble, but they're having loads of fun. "Hey you, Don't move!" Marshall shot up, a bright beam of light shining in his light. Unable to react before coming face to face with a cat. "What are you doing here, Dog!" The cat asked, having a black cap a small clip-on badge to his fur, signifying his security status.
"Ummmm….I mean here to uhh….Visit?" Marshall mustered to the feline with a half-smile, trying to play it cool. "Oh yeah, Lets go ask the big man himself then" He stated as he grabbed the Dalmatian's collar and dragged him along to the front door of the Manor. Chase and Ryder watched it all from a distance, knowing the plan just crashed and burned right there. "Guys, We have a huge situation, Marshall got caught" Chase relayed into his tag.
The cat reached up to the front door, fiercely knocking before Jello himself answered. "Ummmm, Hello?" He asked upon opening. "Sir, I caught this dog within the gates, He claims he wants to visit you" He replied, silently snarling at Marshall. "Ohhh, You're here. This is the babysitter I hired"
"You what?" both the security guard and Marshall said in unison, both equally shocked. "Yeah, cmon in, You must be cold out there" Jello gently grabbing the Dalmatian, letting him inside before closing the door. The feline security guard questioning what he had just experienced was even real. Jello ushered the Dalmatian into the kitchen, seemingly in a hurry as well, all be watched by Skye who spied on the two from the vents. "Wait, Jello hired a Dog to watch his kid, Didn't see that one coming" She commented.
"And he thinks its Marshall, we can work with this" Ryder commented. Marshall took a seat on a stool before a counter block, looking at the fat white furred cat placing a jacket around his body, being in a hurry to leave. "Alright, few things to know, Polko is not supposed to stay up past 9:30, make sure he bathes, eats, and teeth brushed by 8. There are pre-made tuna sandwiches in the fridge you can heat up and you can let him have a piece of candy from the top cupboard above the stove. I don't know when Im going to be able to get back, so make yourself comfortable please" He said, checking all over his body for anything he's missing.
Marshall stayed silent, being bombarded with information within the span of just a few seconds. Just as he was about to ask a question, Jello's spouse came around the corner. Also surprised at the sudden canine in her house. "Jello, What is this dog doing here?" She asked, a bit scared and concerned. "Sweetie, This is the babysitter I was talking to you about, His name is Dooley" He insisted. "Y-Yeah, my name is Dooley, don't ware it out" Marshall spoke.
"You never told me it was a dog; Dogs are dangerous, Its quite obvious what dogs do to cats when felt alone to their…. their…. instincts" She spoke, belittling the Dalmation even he was much taller than her. "Well, that's uncalled for, Dooley here is 100% trustworthy, Clean record and Volunteer status to back it up. Plus, you know dogs aren't in the best position in Katt County, most of them can't even provide for themselves let alone a family. As a Judge, It's my duty to be fair and just to all"
"I-Im still not sure about this" She said, shrugging her paws. Anxious about the whole situation that was just thrown at her. "We can talk more on the way, just know that Polko is 100% safe, Its not like he'll mind, He's too young to understand this kind of stuff" He stated, as they both locked paws for a moment. "I promise" He said as she sighed.
"Okay fine, We need to go right now, Late night traffic is starting to pick up" She claimed, rushing to the garage of the manor. "Goodluck!" He stated before following her. "Oh, and I forgot to mention, Upstairs the second door on the right is my Office. Please keep Polko out of there, Its full of work things" He said before turning back around and going with his wife. "Bingo, Rocky the office is upstairs" Skye heard in, talking back to the mixed breed from her tag.
"Got it, Marshall let in from the back" Marshall heard from his pup tag. "On it" He responded, getting up from the stool and rushing over to the backdoor of the manor. Before he could open it, Marshall could hear the noise of the kitten running amuck upstairs, hearing them run down the stairs at lightning speed.
"Woah, Are you a dog?" The little kitten came into view, running up to the Dalmatian at full speed before stopping in front of him. "Yes"
"My daddy helps a lot of dogs; He says he gives dogs a second chance. I don't understand what he means by that. Do you understand what he means, I like watching cartoons most of the time but mommy doesn't like it, this one time I saw she was up all night watching TV and eating all the Ice-Cream by herself. Can you help me with my homework please pretty please?"
Marshall slightly phased out of the conversation halfway through, so much to listen to and half of it was just gibberish and mashed together fun facts about his life. 'How is this kid such a mouthful' Marshall thought in his head before being led away by the small kitten. "Marshall, Don't get distracted, Let me in" Rocky whispered into his pup tag.
"I'm sorry Rocky, Kinda stuck right now" Marshall replied as he followed the little kitten upstairs. "I'll let you in" said Skye, watching it all from the vents. Rocky eyed the cockapoo who waved slightly through the door vent up above. Unscrewing the small bolts with her teeth, as it begam loose. Removing the door afterwards then jumping down. Letting Rocky inside the Manor at last. "Thanks Skye" He thanked.
"No problemo" She said with a smile. "Hey Marshall, keep that kid away from us, Rocky and I are going for the Office" Skye said into her tag. Meanwhile upstairs Marshall got the message, laying down in the middle of the kitten's room helping him with schoolwork. "Got it" Marshall said into his tag.
"Look, I don't understand this one. 'Why are dogs so dirty?'" The kitten read out the question from the book. Marshall was taken back, a little bit offended that was even a question he was supposed to answer. "What's it like being dirty Mr. Dog?"
"I-I…I'm not dirty, I'm very clean"
"Then why are you covered in black spots Mr. Dog?"
"It's just the way I look" Marshall defended, The kitten thinking his Dalmatian spots were in fact dirt spots instead. "Then why do you smell stinky?" He asked, tilting his head. The poor little kitten was tearing Marshall a new one with his innocent questions. "Okay, Next question please, we'll go back to that one later."
Marshall leaned into his paw, already bored before looking over to the door to see Rocky and Skye, trying to sneak past. Rocky putting his paw to his mouth, gesturing the dalmation to stay quiet.
Both the cockapoo and mixed breed made it to the office door, Rocky slowly opened the door, peaking inside to see the classic office look. Bookshelves and Portraits all along the walls with a nice-looking fireplace right ahead of the office, and to top it all off was a bear skin rug.
"Wow, Judges really live the high life" Rocky commented as they both stepped inside. Walking right over to the wide desk in the middle with the desktop computer. "Ryder, We're in the Office" Skye said into her tag.
"Great job, Hurry up so we can get out of here" Ryder reminded, Rocky and Skye looked at each other before nodding. Rocky wasting no time and already throwing himself into the swivel chair, unfortunately being hit by the lock screen.
"What do you think his password could be?" Rocky asked
"Fatcat22"
"Nope"
"MeowMeow2000"
"Nope"
"Password?"
"Nada"
He sighed before looking up to see a sticky note with the word 'Justice' written on it. "Nevermind" He said before typing it in and granting access.
"Wow, There's a lot of cases on here, Did Lou say to download a specific one?" Skye asked, staring at the dozens of trial and legal documents that flooded his hard drive. "I don't think so, When in doubt, Download all of them" Rocky said, unhooking his tag to place it near the computer. Initiating the download as the loading screen commenced.
"Now what?" Skye asked.
"I guess we just play the waiting game" Rocky slouched back in the office chair, looking over to Skye to see her a bit iffy before hearing Chase's voice over her tag. "WE GOT A PROBLEM, JELLO JUST WENT BACK INTO THE HOUSE, HES GOING UP THE STAIRS RIGHT NOW" He shouted, Both Rocky and Skye freaked out. Closing the Office door behind them and scrambling for any hiding spot.
Rocky glanced back and forth to the computer screen, not knowing whether to close it off or leave it, He would definitely notice something suspicious if he noticed his computer was on. "Skye, Over here!" He shouted, finding the perfect spot for the two to hide.
Marshall's eyed drooped heavy as he tried to stay focus, babysitting was probably just as boring as standing guard, especially since this kitten wasn't much trouble. Just talkative with little filter, Suddenly seeing Jello pass by the door. Marshall sprang up, running off from the kitten and the white furred Judge. "Heh, Back so soon, Sir?" Marshall asked.
"No, I just need to check something before I go" He stated, reaching his office door, turning the knob to open it as Marshall stood behind him, shivering in fear. Knowing Skye and Rocky were still inside about to be caught. Fortunately, as the door opened, Both looked inside to see an empty room. All was quiet and ordinary apart from the Judge tilting his head slightly at the computer he could have sworn was off before.
"Huh, I didn't know I left this on. Good thing I came but, or my power bill would be through the roof" The Judge joked to the Dalmatian, seeing Marshall give back a fearful and thankful smile. "Huh, What's this?" He asked, taking a seat and looking at the monitor to see a loading screen, something was downloading. "I guess it's just an update, whatever" He said to himself as he opened up another tab, viewing through one of his court files.
Marshall walked in, standing behind the white cat as he looked at all the court documents he skimmed through. "A lot of stuff" Marshall stated.
"Mhm, and even ore coming my way. Bails, Warrants, Appeals. It's all so much, Especially the search warrants. Geez, The Sheriff's Department asks for those a million times. In fact, I had to sign one 30 minutes before you got here. They wanted to search some RV vehicle they impounded at a gas station, belonging to some dogs and a human that came into the county" He said, those details immediately sounding familiar to the Dalmatian. The Paw Patroller. The Paw Patroller was impounded and was being searched.
Skye and Rocky both heard in on the conversation between the two, both canines stuck up in the chimney of the fireplace. Not a big deal for Skye considering her size, however for Rocky it was different. He could feel his body rub hard against the rough brick of the inside, he groaned silently as he saw tiny pieces of brick that rubbed up against him, falls down to the wood of the furnace.
"So Dooley, tell me what's like living on door by the river with the other dogs, It must be rough to provide for your pups" The Judge asked, still shifting through his digital documents as he attempted to make small talk. The question made Marshall knock his brain from side to side, not knowing what to say. "My…Pup?" Marshall asked.
"Yeah, you tell me all about your little pup every time I see you" He stated.
"Yeeeaahhh, That little rascals, She really is specially to me"
"I thought your pup was a boy" Marshall froze.
"O-Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you, I recently umm….adopted" He corrected.
"Oh that's cool, You know, The moment I saw you in the court room with those other dogs, I knew you were different. You weren't like the others that committed crimes and said you would change. You did it though, you're a real dog of integrity" The Judge said, even though it was all a trick, Marshall still smiled, hearing those kind words come from someone's mouth.
"Welp, Everything seems good here, I can't keep the misses waiting too long downstairs" He said, getting up from his chair and walking back out the door, Marshall following behind him, looking around once more before closing the door. Jello walked right past his son's room to see the small kitten, already fast asleep on the floor with his schoolwork in his paw.
"Looks like your job just got a bit easier pal" He turned to Marshall with a chuckled before turning the corner and walking back down the stairs. Marshall's ear perked up suddenly when he heard a loud thud coming from inside the office, racing around to look back inside to see Rocky and Skye, scrapping themselves of dust and loose brick pieces off their body.
"Is it done?" Marshall asked, rushing back to the computer with a face of glee. "Yup, It's all here" Rocky stated, taking back up his pup tag from the desk and clipping it back to his collar. "Let's go" Rocky stated, rushing over to a window in the office, sliding it up as he looked back at Marshall. "Cmon Marshall" He motioned.
"You guys go on without me, I got to do something first" He said, Both Rocky and Skye looked at one another before shrugging, Marshall would catch up, he always does. The mixed breed and cockapoo jumped from the window into a neighbouring tree, giving easy advantage to reach to the ground safely.
"Mission Accomplished, We got everything, Must us back where Lou is" Skye said.
"Awesome news, Good job Rocky and Skye, you too Marshall" Ryder stated.
Later, All of Paw Patrol except for Marshall waited outside the fence, both wondering when their Dalmatian friend would catch up. Before suddenly seeing him come back, climbing over the fence. "Took you long enough, What were you doing in there?" Rocky asked as everyone else though the same thing.
"What, I gave him some food, had him brush his teeth, and tucked him into bed" Marshall said.
"You actually did all that?" Lou asked.
"Yeah, I wasn't going to leave a child like that" He said as they all rolled their eyes. "Welp, at least everything went smoothly, Lets go" Lou ushered as they all ran back into the wooded Forrest. Marshall tugged on Ryder for a quick second as they ran.
"Ryder, I got something I need to tell you when we get back to the hut" Marshall proclaimed.
