CHAPTER 56

The forest, dense and mysterious, held secrets that would be revealed that night. Charles felt a chill when he found Wade among the trees, his eyes shining with determination.

- Charles, finally brother, you've shown up. I've got a great plan to put an end to the trade in Hope Valle, and to tell you the truth, I've already set it in motion. I'm tired of seeing this little coal town drooling over that woman," said Wade, looking around to make sure they were alone.

Charles frowned.

- I hate that woman, Wade. I'm going to break up with her...

Wade smiled soberly;

- Charles! She's the key to our revenge. Elizabeth is the piece we can use to bring down this town, we're going to spread suffering in this town. She will pay for everything she and Jack Thorton did to our brother, Julio Spurlok. It's because of them that he's dead today...

- But she will pay for all this, Charles. She'll regret it all, and Nathan will suffer a lot too. Her meddling will be repaid and it will be very expensive.

They were half brothers, Wade was his father's son by a salon clerk. Charles and Julio Spurlok met Wade Jeffis after the death of their father. He was one of those men who had a woman in every town. His mother was initially upset about this, but one day she told him that she loved him very much and stopped calling when he brought his children or even his wives home. His mother was very much in love with his father, even sharing his bed with other women. Charles discovered many sisters, but only Wade as a boy. They quickly became friends, and both Julio and Charles noticed that Wade followed them around like a puppy following its master, and that's how they began to strike blows together.

The brothers looked at each other, sharing a past of pain and betrayal. Charles agreed to everything and asked Wade for help. They were going to lock Elizabeth and her children up in the hut. They wanted her to be released before the inevitable, but they wanted her to hear her children's terrified screams. She would suffer the loss of her children.

Elizabeth, meanwhile, slept calmly in Nathan's arms, unaware of the plot unfolding around her. The cruel plan was in motion, the shadows of revenge were approaching. The city was about to witness a confrontation between loyalty, betrayal and the quest for justice.

As the night progressed, Charles and Wade planned every detail, every strategic move to catch Elizabeth and finish her off.

Charles and Wade moved silently in the darkness of the night, towards the isolated cottage. The crackling of dry leaves over their feet. It echoed like an omen of vengeance in the air.

The hut, shrouded in darkness, waited like a vault of dark secrets. Charles glanced at Wade, whose eyes reflected his determination to carry out his revenge.

Charles opened the door, turning the knob carefully; there they would set the traps to finish off that teacher. The door creaked slightly, revealing a dim interior. The brothers advanced, each step resounding with the weight of their evil.

Charles, looking at Wade, spoke:

- Our revenge will be like a storm that unmasks lies and corrects injustice. Together we will put an end to this woman who has brought nothing but darkness and shadows into the life of our brother Julio Spurlok.

"She will regret being alive..."
