"Another night of Nightmares?" Dean asked as Sam opened the Impala door and got seated, getting ready for the drive to Kansas.
"I slept fine," Sam lied.
"Sammy I can tell that you're struggling with something and then the nightmares of clowns returning after all these years….I know that things have been strained since Ruby and Lucifer…"
"Since I freed Lucifer, you mean? I know that you haven't forgiven me for that, but I'm going to find a way to make it right with you and the world, even if it means killing me," Sam corrected.
"Killing you? Why would you say that? Do you know something I don't?" Dean asked as he looked over at his brother with concern in his eyes.
Sam thought about telling Dean the truth, but then thought better of it. They needed to focus on the hunt, everything else could wait. He would tell Dean the truth on the way home.
"No, I was just being dramatic, didn't you say that we would always go out like Butch and Sundance?"
"Yep going out in glory, guns in our hands, killing as many evil bastards as we can, you by my side, I can't think of a better way to go. Anyways…if you need to talk about anything you've got on your mind, I'm here for you Sammy," Dean stated.
"Thanks Dean, but I'm good, I just need to read up on Kansas, the more prepared we are, the better," Sam stated as he popped in his headphones and looked at his phone.
XOXOXO
"Crowley, I was informed that you knew where the Winchesters were" Lucifer said as the demon known as Crowley was brought to him.
"Correction, I might know where they are headed on their next hunt."
"Why didn't you bring this to me yourself?" Lucifer asked as he looked at the demon suspiciously.
"I didn't want to waste your time and my time on rumors and innuendos. There are lots of stories and rumors that I hear about the Winchesters, some of them come true, most don't. I was going to tell you once I knew it was a fact," Crowley replied.
Crowley's logic seemed reasonable, but he was a Crossroads Demon, the top salesman who was the best at securing deals for mortal souls. Demons lied as it was, but the best salesman demon that Hell had, would be a very gifted liar, even as good as Lucifer knew himself to be. "If you're lying, I will cut out your tongue. Once you have verified the Winchester's location, I want to be the first to know," Lucifer stated.
"Of course your highness," Crowley said and then left.
XOXOXO
Sam and Dean's investigation in Kansas led them to a house. There were demons surrounding the house on all sides, but they didn't make a move against them. It felt like a trap but they had to take a chance and walk towards the house. Sam held onto the demon killing blade as they entered the home.
"It's about time you boys showed up," he said. He was dressed in a well designer business suit and he was sitting in a chair with his feet on the desk. There were guards on both sides of the desk.
"Christo," Sam stated.
The guards and the business man winced, a sign that they were all demons.
Sam defensively held out the knife, Dean pulled out his gun as the demon in the business suit stood up suddenly.
"Relax boys, I'm on your side for this one," the business man said. He pulled out a knife and stuck it in one of the demon guard's side, killing him instantly.
"I can use a little help killing these demons boys and then we'll talk," He called out as he continued to shiv the demons that came at him.
Sam and Dean joined in on the fight.
"We can't touch the Winchesters. You know how important Sam is to Lucifer," one of the demons said as they entered the house.
"We can't kill the Winchesters, but we need to immobilize them before they kill us all," the other demon stated and then the two of them joined in on the fight.
Sam, Dean and the Demon businessman shot and stabbed until there were no other demons left standing.
"Thanks for the help boys, you have certainly lived up to your reputation," the businessman demon stated as he wiped his blood soaked blade on his jacket. "Shame, it was such a nice suit, oh well, there will be others," he added.
"Who are you? What do you want and why did you help us?" Dean asked.
"My name is Crowley and I want to help you because I think that we can help one another with the problem of Lucifer." Crowley stated.
"Isn't Lucifer your boss?" Sam asked.
"Yes, he is for now. Lucifer considers Demons lower than mankind, so I believe that once he has destroyed mankind then he will set his sights on destroying all of the demons, myself included. He is just using us to get what he wants and once he no longer has a need for us, he will destroy us. My proposition is that I will give you the colt and let you know where he is going to be, so you can kill him," Crowley explained.
"Do you even know if the colt will kill an archangel, such as Lucifer?" Sam asked. He hated the feeling, but the thought of Lucifer dying bothered him, he knew that it had to be that way for everyone's sake, but it was breaking his heart. He wiped his eyes, trying to clear the tears that was forming.
"Are you crying over the thought of Lucifer dying? I heard that he had found a way to enter and control your dreams at night. Just how close have the two of you gotten? Please tell me that you know he has to die," Crowley stated.
"Have you been dreaming of Lucifer Sammy, is that why you're having so many nightmares?" Dean asked.
"No, I just got something in my eye and there have been no dreams about Lucifer. Demons lie," Sam stated defensively.
"Speak of the devil himself. I have to get this boys," Crowley stated as the phone rang.
"Did you find the Winchesters?" Lucifer asked just as soon as Crowley answered the phone.
"Yep, they were here, they ambushed us. I was just about to call you when Dean shot me in the arm, then Sam punched me, knocking me unconscious. When I woke up, all the demons were dead and the Winchesters are long gone," Crowley lied.
"Lucky for you that you survived then, you better not be betraying me salesmen," Lucifer stated and then hung up the phone.
"As for the Colt, no, I don't know if it will kill the devil, but it's our best option. Dean, I need you to shoot me in the shoulder, and Sam, I need you to punch me, make it look good boys. I have a part to play," Crowley stated as he pulled the colt out and handed it to Dean.
Dean held onto the Colt in his left hand, but used the gun that was still in his right hand to shoot Crowley in the shoulder.
Crowley winced as he fell to the ground, the blood pooling at the top of his shoulder. "Now it's your turn Sam. Knock me out and leave me your number on the desk so I can be in touch with Lucifer's location," Crowley said as he pulled himself back up.
Sam walked towards the Demon and then unleashed all of his built up anger and punched him out. He should feel grateful, this demon was helping him after all, but he just simply couldn't. He knew it was wrong, but there was a part of him that hated Crowley for giving them a possible way of killing the devil. He knew that Lucifer had to die, but If the Colt worked Sam would go back to feeling empty and the thought of that scared him.
