TBBT in the future, Professor Sheldon Cooper meets someone from the past….

10 minutes later in the Caltech canteen.

"Here you are Professor Fowler, Earl Grey tea, just like Captain Picard."

"Captain who? Thank you for the tea Professor, why are you doing this?"

"Isn't scientific curiosity enough?"

"I agree, the chance to study the brain of one of the worlds greatest Physicists, would be fascinating. I looked you up. However, it was rather sudden to have this sprung on me. I have plenty of other work to do here at Caltech, I am sure that you do as well."

"I am a Research Professor, I can do whatever I want scientifically provided I produce enough top quality papers. I have had two papers in Science this year and I will have a Nature paper published next month. I could spend the rest of the year watching Star Trek and Caltech wouldn't be bothered. I am not like Professor Hofstadter who you met last night, Leonard hasn't done any decent Science for years with all his administrative duties and now he is Dean he has even less chance of doing anything useful."

"Well someone has to be Dean?"

"I suppose so, I kept well clear of Leonard's predecessor. The only reason I was there last night is that Professor Hofstadter is one of my oldest friends."

"It is good to have a friend in high places?"

"Is it, I haven't needed one in the past."

"Well getting to know Professor Hofstadter could be good for me as I start my career at Caltech."

"How long were you at Harvard for?"

"I was there for 19 years, shortly after our blind date I left UCLA for Harvard when they offered me a permanent position, as I did my Ph.D at Harvard I was very happy to accept their offer. I had a good time at Harvard but when my parents died last year I inherited my old family home in Glendale. My group at Harvard had been collaborating with Caltech for years. When I came home for the funeral I had a chat with my Caltech colleagues, a few months later they offered me a job and here I am."

"I see, so when do you start studying my brain Professor Fowler?"

"This is not something that can be done immediately, there are certain protocols that need to be followed for a study like this, I will need to discuss this with my neuroscience colleagues. I imagine it will take me a couple of weeks to set this all up."

"I see, thank you for your time Professor Fowler, I will let you get back to work so you can talk to your neuroscience colleagues."

Two weeks later Sheldon and Leonard are having lunch in the canteen when Amy walked past.

"Good afternoon Professors, how is life as Dean?"

"Hello there Professor Fowler, endless meetings. This is my first chance to have lunch with my old friend Sheldon for over two weeks."

"I see, I will let you get back to your lunch. Are you ready for the brain study tomorrow Professor Cooper?"
