The pain… The pain had been worse than anything Tommy had experienced before, but he'd been able to push it aside, with the other Animorphs all around him screaming. Just as he was about to try comforting the younger Animorphs all around him, the pain abruptly stopped, at the sound of some kind of an underwater siren.
(What is happening?) Ax asked, seeming more confused than Tommy had ever heard the Andalite sound before.
(I don't know, but it's kind of nice,) Marco said.
And, while it was strange to think about, Tommy did feel strangely better after that siren had gone off, but there was also something else. Something he'd just begun to notice, when the siren had stopped…
(This sounds insane, but I think this shark is getting smarter,) Marco said.
(Like the sharks that attacked us,) Rachel said, before Tommy could make any kind of comment to that effect.
(That's what it seems like,) he said, finding that the shark instincts sharing space with his own mind were beginning to notice more things than just those associated with searching for prey.
