161. The Escape (16)

It was the first time in awhile that Jake had actually assigned them into groups, Tommy found himself reflecting, as he stood in his lion morph, waiting to attack with Rachel, Cassie, and Jake. The four of them waited as Marco, Ax, and Tobias all flew off, before he and Jake roared to draw the attention of the Controllers all around them, throwing themselves against the Taxxons emerging from the rooms all around them.

There were Hork-Bajir Controllers emerging, as the battle continued, and Tommy could only hope that Marco and his group were doing all right, wherever they were.

Still, for the moment Tommy had to focus on the enemies all around him; the Hork-Bajir, Taxxon, and human-Controllers pouring in all around them. The sound of an alarm going off drew his attention, but Tommy quickly found his attention drawn to the human-Controller who seemed to be trying to rally the Yeerk forces all around them. There was something familiar about her…

(Heads up, Jake,) he said, as a chilling recognition snapped back into place. (Visser One is here, and I think the Controllers are calling in reinforcements.)

(If they aren't here already,) Jake muttered, and Tommy had the feeling that he hadn't been meant to hear that.
