What you recognize I don't own. Most of it is the same as surprise ally, however it's once Egokhan is defeated that things change, and thus why I decided to start at that part
And though it took six months and it wasn't easy, especially in allowing Snarchkoff chances to slow Egokhan down any, eventually Egokhan was defeated. During those six months Snarchkoff was stressed about his role as a double agent to keep Farhat alive, and had hated the fact that as part of his job he'd been forced to burn the tent with Farhat and the rest still inside so as to say he tried to kill Farhat for Egokhan's sake, and was relieved when he found out that the group was actually safe and still alive. Though before that event he secretly praised them for thinking of taking his form to sneak into his business building to free Tilda, who had willingly been taken captive knowing that Snarchkoff was simply doing it under Egokhan's orders and didn't want Snarchkoff to get into dangerous trouble with Egokhan. Taking Ben's cousins as prisoners hadn't been easy for him either knowing that Ben valued his cousins and would do anything to keep them safe, and there was no opportunity to let Farhat know about the situation Ben was dealing with and so he had to hope that the crystals that Ben had given him were fakes, which his hopes turned out to be answered through Ali which was a relief to Snarchkoff. After the cousins were safe Snarchkoff secretly apologized to Ben and his cousins not only by paying for the transportation back home for the cousins (if only because the sea faring cousin couldn't afford to take that much time off of his shipping business) but by also leaving food for all of them before they all headed their own ways again. Snarchkoff had also done as promised and though it wasn't much had eased the burden of captivity for the King and Queen in small ways, Egokhan's defeat though was both a relief and temporary sorrow for Snarchkoff due to the fact that he knew the laws of the kingdom as well as Farhat did due to his role as Prime Minister and seeing the King and Queen dead despite his best efforts meant that Farhat was now King despite actually being underage, thus requiring the necessity of a regent, which Snarchkoff believed would either be Ben or someone else since Farhat knew that Snarchkoff was resigning from his position as Prime Minister as soon as possible. Farhat though would temporarily surprise him before he would feel joy again
"I am sorry for loss young Prince, I try and protect King and Queen but failed"
"It's...it's not your fault Snarchkoff, I want you to go into the city and announce that my parents remains have finally been retrieved and that I am actually alive and will take up my father's throne once I am of legal age, but until then you stand as my regent"
"How am I explaining remains look fresh?"
"Tell them the truth as much as possible without revealing Egokhan's role"
"I understand, but am not sure I will make good regent"
"I trust you Snarchkoff, and as Prime Minister you have the qualifications needed to be my regent, now go"
"Right, will be going immediately back to capitol then to get army to recover remains of king and queen"
"Thank you Snarchkoff"
And so Snarchkoff did indeed go straight to the army and told them that he had found the remains of the king and queen and had discovered that Prince Farhat and Ben were still alive and that there was another person with the two that they had met while away for so long that also needed picked up (it had been agreed that Ali would remain hidden by everyone due to being a scorpion and had actually been brought to the capitol by Snarchkoff in secret). A week after the king and queen's remains were recovered a public funeral was held and thanks to Snarchkoff paying for his ticket Nigel Swanson was also able to attend the funeral to be able to support Tilda and Farhat throughout all of this (he had been told the truth about Snarchkoff during a very long phone call after Tilda had arrived safely at the palace) and after that Farhat announced that Snarchkoff would act as his regent until he came of age to rule the country
"I will accept duty and discharge faithfully despite not being faithful to parents by attempting and through harsh living conditions succeeding in killing them"
"I hereby publicly pardon you for I know, though no one else will ever fully know the story behind it, that your actions weren't your own on that day"
"Nyet, they will know for I tell now that there was demon Egokhan controlling me, even though that was case I should have fought him harder"
"Nay Snarchkoff, you fought him for over a decade before succumbing to his will, you're strong and worthy of your position Snarchkoff, let no one ever say otherwise"
"It will be hard for me to believe it regularly"
"I know, but we'll help, I promise, I hold no grudge or blame on you for what happened these past few months"
The next four years weren't exactly easy on the group that had fought and defeated Egokhan, all of them had nightmares on a regular basis which unfortunately necessitated international phone calls since Tilda had moved back to England since the college and more importantly her father asked her to come back and begin not only further research on the Shariman but to also help create a class around various legends that may or may not be true and yet invite people to wonder and explore the world to see if there's any substance to those myths and legends (on summer trips only if they were active students, and if they were graduates then they could submit their findings to the college for further research if needed). But finally Farhat turned 20 thus making him the legal ruler of his country
"So...you're officially able to be called King and are the legal ruler of your country now"
"Yeah, it's going to be weird for me for a bit but it is what it is"
"When is the ceremony going to take place where Snarchkoff officially resigns and regent and crowns you the King?"
"Next week, listen Tilda I've been wondering something lately"
"What Farhat?"
"What if...what if the day I get crowned is the day we get married? I mean everyone has known for two years now that we're formally engaged and I think some of them are beginning to wonder when we'll actually get married or if we're going to call it off since our engagement is long distance"
"That's...a bit short notice don't you think?"
"I know it is but...there's more, during your last visit did you notice something off about Snarchkoff?"
"You know now that I think about it I did, but I haven't heard anything about it from you, Ben, Ali or Snarchkoff himself since I last saw him when he claimed it was probably just the beginnings of a mild cold"
"It turns out it was something more than just a mild cold, Tilda...he's dying Tilda, we're going to lose Snarchkoff just like we almost lost Ali during our journey, the doctors aren't giving him much longer to live and he's refusing Ali's potions, not that Ali can do much to help either apparently"
"Dying?"
"Yes, his heart has dangerously weakened because of Egokhan, he...let me start at the beginning, three days after your last visit almost nine months ago Snarchkoff and I were in a meeting with a diplomat and our business advisor when suddenly Snarchkoff grabbed his chest and started to complain of chest pain and being short of breath so we got him to the hospital as quickly as we could and discovered he had suffered a heart attack, a minor one but still bad enough to warrant a few days in the hospital for further tests to be done to try and figure out why it happened in the first place. It turned out that what was mistaken for as a mild cold was actually a combination of the flu and pneumonia and it not only attacked his lungs but also his heart for some reason making it weaker, and it was also discovered that his immune system has been compromised and hasn't been the same for at least four to five years"
"Egokhan"
"Yes, that's what Snarchkoff, Ali and I suspect anyways. As I was saying the heart being weakened was concerning but the doctor told him that after a brief period of rest he could resume his duties as my regent, just needing to take more frequent breaks was all since both Snarchkoff and I mentioned off hand that Snarchkoff didn't exactly remember to take care of himself as my regent from time to time. We thought everything was fine and that as long as we obeyed doctors orders he would regain his strength and while his heart wouldn't ever fully get back to the way it was, it wouldn't get weaker either and could in fact get a bit stronger. We were wrong though, one month ago he suffered another heart attack and it was a bigger one this time, the doctor said that if Snarchkoff didn't immediately go on the transplant list, which he would be placed relatively high on due to his health, and have a pacemaker implanted in the meantime he couldn't garauntee that Snarchkoff would survive another major attack. Snarchkoff refused to go onto the list deciding that if he dies then he dies and gets to be with the rest of his family who have already passed on, we...we don't know..."
"There's no telling when the next major attack could be, it could even happen before you're formally crowned, and there's really nothing Ali can do even if Snarchkoff was willing to take his potions?"
"Yeah"
"Then I have a better idea, let's get married before your crowning ceremony, that ways we can insure that Snarchkoff gets to witness your happiness"
"Sorry Tilda, while I love that idea it's just not possible"
"Why not?"
"It's not against the rules for the Prince to marry, even in this situation, but things are just too chaotic with the preparations for my crowning ceremony next week, and the only person capable of holding the wedding is the busiest person involved in the ceremony, and no it's not Snarchkoff per doctor's orders, the doctor is trying to ensure that Snarchkoff at least lives long enough to see me crowned"
"Then after you're crowned it is"
And so the two hand up and then Tilda tells her father about how the wedding was happening immaculately after Farhat was crowned, and even the reason why it was happening so soon because though no one knew it, the wedding preparations had been going on for the past three months already, though Farhat and Tilda had honestly thought that they wouldn't actually be married for another six or more months. The next week Tilda and Nigel flew out to Farhat's kingdom so that Tilda could be married to Farhat right after the crowning ceremony (she had also informed the college about what was going on and they put her on sabbatical for an undetermined amount of time so that she could figure out what she wanted to do after the marriage and be there for Farhat after Snarchkoff passed away, which they hoped wouldn't happen for at least a few more months due to only knowing that Snarchkoff was ill with something that was killing him, they didn't know just how serious the situation truly was) and when she landed Snarchkoff was there to greet her and she could see that he was in ill health and actively dying though not dead yet
"Hey Snarchkoff"
"Hello Tilda, the fact that you are not surprised at my condition means Farhat warned you ahead of time da?"
"Yes, he...he didn't want me to be shocked when he invited me to the crowning ceremony"
"That is good"
And so the three head to where the crowning ceremony would take place and two hours later Farhat was officially crowned as King and then Farhat spoke up
"There is one more matter to attend to today, and Snarchkoff this one is for you. As I'm sure you noticed Ben, Tilda and Mr. Swanson disappeared right after the crown was put on my head, that is because Tilda had extra preparations to make, today is not only my crowning ceremony, but also my wedding to Tilda Swanson whom I've been engaged to for the past two years"
Tilda then comes out in a dress that had been hidden from Snarchkoff from the start and only moments after she entered she and Farhat were legally married making her the Queen of the country and though there wasn't a major ceremony for her coronation the priest, who had been in on the plan from the start thanks to Farhat, asked her to bow before him and he placed the crown that had been prepared for her on top of her head and heard Tilda take the vows she needed to take to make her not just King consort but the actual Queen and thus equal ruler of the country. The celebrations for the crowning of Farhat as King and the marriage of Farhat and Tilda went well into the night and into the next day, in fact the whole country celebrated the event for a whole week off and on and while the group partook in some of it, Tilda and Farhat spent most of it in the palace enjoying their honeymoon and happy that Snarchkoff was able to witness their wedding considering just how ill he looked
"When do you have to go back?"
"I'm on an indefinite sabbatical with the college, they don't necessarily know about just how bad Snarchkoff is, but they know it's bad enough that we're not sure exactly how long he'll live and they want me to be with you during the time of mourning for him, though they also hope he'll live for at least a few months yet, give us time to settle in as both newly weds and leaders of the country"
"So you've told them about your marriage to me and that the doctor's are saying that Snarchkoff isn't doing the greatest and has at most a year to live"
"Yes, they don't know that it's his heart that's failing or that he's almost died already, they just know that he wasn't give a whole lot of time left"
"You know that you'll have to go on maternity leave eventually too right?"
"Hopefully by then the class will be well established with more than just me as a good professor"
"Yes, hopefully"
A week after the celebrations had ended and two weeks after Farhat and Tilda had been married and crowned the group that had fought against Egokhan were meeting a foreign diplomat (Ben was involved because the diplomat had a connection with one of Ben's many cousins) when suddenly Snarchkoff would suffer another major heart attack in just under two months and while he managed to make it to the hospital alive the doctors were very blunt with Farhat and Tilda when they arrived (the only reason they hadn't ridden with Snarchkoff was because of no room in the ambulance, the diplomat themselves had pulled Ben aside while the paramedics were stabilizing Snarchkoff and told Ben that he would head back to his Embassy and wait for word on when the King and Queen were ready to resume negotiations alongside Snarchkoff who was no longer Prime Minister but instead simply an advisor)
"That he survived the trip here is a miracle but I must warn you that he's not in very good condition, his heart is actively failing as we speak and we have him on life support but...I doubt he'll last the night, it might be best to sign the forms to take him off life support now and simply let him pass on with as much dignity as possible right now"
"Doctor...is he stable enough for travel?"
"No Queen Tilda, to move him now will kill him even faster than what's killing him now, I get it, I've seen families like yours before, you want him to die in the palace which is his home, but I'm afraid that's just not possible"
"I see"
"Give us the paperwork to take him off life support doctor, we'll stay by his side until..."
"Very well King Farhat"
And so Farhat signs the paperwork that takes Snarchkoff off life support and then Farhat, Tilda, Ben and secretly Ali held a bedside vigil for Snarchkoff who would never regain consciousness the rest of the evening before, as the doctor predicted, he would pass away late in the evening, not even making it to the early hours of the next day
"Time of death 2330 hours"
A mandatory autopsy would reveal that the cause of death was another heart attack due to his weakened heart caused by viral damage. For his part in the government Farhat would have a period of nationwide mourning that would last an entire month, and a public viewing would be held for three days before Snarchkoff was buried beside his King and Queen who had died before him, the only reason he hadn't been buried beside his parents was because it simply wasn't possible due to government denial since his parents were buried in his father's home country where they had died. Tilda would remain in the country for six months before briefly heading back to England to arrange remote work, having essentially been the true ruler of the kingdom during the official month of mourning for the country and the unofficial two months of mourning that was done by the royal family, if only because Tilda knew she couldn't break down like Farhat and Ben had even though she was almost as close to Snarchkoff as those two were, but she wouldn't be working for very long before she actually went on maternity leave because one year to the day after Snarchkoff's death she would give birth to her firstborn son, not even knowing until she was in labor that she was pregnant
"Happy birthday baby"
"What's the date anyways? I mean...with Tilda in labor for so long we've kinda lost track of time"
When they heard the date they realized that it had been one year to the day since they had lost Snarchkoff
"Well then, I think once we're released from the hospital, and possibly every year on your birthday we go visit someone, or we do it on their birthday instead"
"How about on his birthday?"
"Okay love, we'll do it that ways, it's only three months from now anyways"
And so that is ultimately what they would do with all three of their children, with Tilda having given birth to twins the second time around three years later, though that time she'd known she was pregnant, but every year on Snarchkoff's birthday (except once for very good reason) they would visit his grave and tell his story to their children, which was in a way even more special for the twins because the day they were born was also Snarchkoff's birthday, though at least Tilda and Farhat had been aware of the day this time since the labor wasn't so sudden and had in fact been induced since she was overdue by a week and that tradition would continue even after Farhat and Tilda abdicated the throne for their eldest son once he was legally old enough to take the throne
