Chapter One: The First Day~
Author's Note: Good evening my wayward reader. This fic is extremely self-indulgent/self-insert fic and is a way for me to curve stress from adventuring through my college classes. This is mostly for two or so people in my friend group that were interested in what I was writing. I'm posting it here so in case my computer randomly implodes or dies I won't have to try to dredge it up from my google drive(it's extremely messy in there and yes I'm too lazy to fix it). Also the world that I'm writing in may seem similar to that of MHA however no characters or story arcs will be taken from there, I just like the mechanics of how quirks work. My knowledge isn't adept so I'm mostly going off of creative freedom. With that being said and you somehow made it past "self-insert" then you're braver than I gave you credit for. At this point I can't stop you so go ahead and read past the line.
Night time 09:58:00 PM
The night is serene as the stars light up the cloudy skies and the moonbeams a halo of light across the city. The city was bustling with activity, from bars filled with the cheers of a publicized sports game to clubs blasting loud music with all variations of people dancing away to the tunes. Luna City, nicknamed Dreamy Town, has always been a beacon for those who wanted to experience the high life and education that Japan had to offer. Though aside from the hedonistic thrills of city life, there is one other important part that completes the experience of Dreamy Town, and that, my dear viewers, is HEROS!
A figure, cloaked by the shadows of night, is bounding across buildings with dexterous zeal. He looks up with a sly grin and starts mounting his way up the tallest structure he can find to get a better look around the city. As he makes his way up the perilous scaffolding, he is awarded a great view of Luna City. With cars swerving in and out of traffic, civilians enjoying the nightly air, and even the crows soaring through the skies, a sudden gale comes through. As the clouds seemingly glide away from the celestial body, allowing the moonlight to fully light up the city and shielding his eyes from the strong winds, forcing the hood off his head, revealing a fiery head of hair. Our young hero, Game Freak, makes his appearance! Game Freak is 5 '8, has gingerbread skin, red eyes, black and red windbreaker pants, A red and gold mini-crown adorning the top of his head, a stylized black jacket, and a tiny ponytail curled around the right side of his neck.
He takes a breath. "No matter how many times I see it, I will never tire of this sight." Lost in his reverie, Game Freak notices an indicator pop up in his field of view. He acknowledges the implication of the marker and gives his cheeks a light slap to focus on the incoming encounter. His scarlet eyes sweep towards an alleyway just far enough away from primary traffic. "Over there this time? Not unusual, but this early in the night?" He leaps off the building and closes his eyes as the wind whistles in his ears from his speedy descent. A small flash of light envelops his body, only drawing glances from the people who happen to look up. After the phenomenon dissipated, Game Freak now, with a chaotic smile on his face, makes the motion of crouching into a small ball, then with a near-silent whoosh kicking off of nothing as he straightens his body to better steer his trajectory. He caught a couple of people watching him as he maneuvered around signs and power lines. One of them had a phone desperately trying to get something out to the person on the line, and the other was recording the direction he was going.
After a few more seconds of air time, Game Freak manages to get his legs back under him and slow down enough to safely land on the roof adjacent to the alley he was led to. Surveying the area below, he quickly finds out that what's going on in the alley is a typical extortion scheme. He focuses his view on the encounter. "5'10, a light-skinned male with a machete and dark clothes. The victim is a 5'5 female, unarmed, though her purse seems to be the object of interest. Crime confirmed" He grinned at how robotic he sounded and shook his head as he said below his breath, "Oh, Lord, now I'm starting to quote automatons now." Game Freak stands up at his full height, then leaps down to get between the victim and aggressor. On his way down, his enhanced hearing managed to pick up "Give me your belongings now if you want to live!" said the rough-looking male, giving a small flourish with the blade. The female seemed to back herself against the wall at the demand, shielding her purse from the robber's view and shaking her head in rebuke. "I refuse! My mother gave me this before she passed away. You will not have it!" she exclaimed, then closed her eyes, making herself seem smaller as the man reared his bladed hand back to bring down on the woman. "Heh. Then suit yourself!" he exclaimed gleefully. As he was about to swing down on his prey, a very loud CLANG rang out in the alley as the weapon was flung out of his hand by the force and embedded into the ground 10 feet away from where he was standing.
The offender looks back towards the discarded weapon with startled shock, then slowly looks back to where he last saw his prey, only to be staring down at someone different. His eyes widened in horror as he was now aware of exactly who was in the alley with him. "G-Game Freak. H-How is it going?" Game Freak raised an unamused eyebrow at him as he gestured for the woman to run out of the alley. "C'mon, don't be like that! I'm just a man down on his luck, you see? I had no intention of hurting the young woman. "He tried to appeal to his emotions, desperately trying to find a way out of the situation. Game Freak only shook his right hand to loosen the tightness in his wrist from deflecting the attack. The bracelet he was wearing was still vibrating from the force it had absorbed.
As the criminal pleaded for mercy, he was greeted by the motion of Game Freak placing his hood back on, the crown dematerializing, and his eyes flashing dangerously from the shadow cast by it. "Last chance to surrender peacefully. You know better than this Milt," was all he said as he readied his stance in the form of a boxer. Milt now understood that talking was getting him nowhere, so he did what any other sane deviant would. With a drawing speed that rivals a wild west cowboy, a firearm was produced from seemingly thin air and pointed directly at Game Freak's face. "You should've stayed in school, young man!" he sneered as he squeezed the trigger with no hesitation.
Outside the alley
The shot rang out in the entire alley, drawing the attention of nearby citizens. Most ran away to not get involved with whatever was happening in the alley, while a couple of people wanted to step in for a closer look. However, they didn't get close enough before very loud sirens were heard and a police cruiser, followed by squad cars, blocked off the alley. The police stepped in, directing any and all persons to stay clear of the alley. One gentleman, Deerman, stood out amongst the other officers—the police chief himself, Shimamoto Shika. With a firearm in one hand and a bullhorn in the other, he points the speaker unit to the alleyway. "Freeze! You two, you're under arre-" he began to say before he noticed the sight with wide eyes of Bullseye Milt lying on the ground, seemingly unresponsive, with his prized Revolver, the Colt Python, broken at his feet. The assistant chief, a mutant-type owl named Kanna, walked up next to Shika, observing the view in front of her, then looked over to her superior. "That's Bullseye Milt; he's been the one responsible for robbing local convenience stores, committing arson in the countryside, and also having connections with the local gangs when it came to firearms entering this town." She lists as she takes out her flashlight to investigate the area from where she's standing. "He's a minor criminal but was coming on the up and up, so to speak. I can only wonder who would be brave enough to willingly fight someone who can blow your head off by the time you blink." she hooted at the end of the statement.
She takes a step into the alley before she feels a hand on her shoulder. Looking back, it was Shika bringing up his gun and gesturing to her to proceed. She hooted again for forgetting about going through a crime scene without her partner and quietly thanked him for the backup. As they walked through to get to the downed criminal and cuff him, Shika inspected his injuries. "Extreme blunt force trauma to the left side of the jaw and lacerations on the right cheek stretching back to under the earlobe," he noted as he checked the rest of his body. Shika stands back up, sniffing the air. "He doesn't seem to possess any other injuries, and his power has been sealed thanks to the cuff." He leans closer to Kanna and whispers, "I believe our friend is still here. He's above us, trying to keep still." He leaned away subtly, pointing upwards from their position, then about faces towards the mouth of the alleyway, hailing some officers to come haul the prisoner away and having an extra two standby at both ends of the alley. Shika hands the megaphone to Kana and points his gun where he senses his location as she speaks, "BZZZT BZZZT BZZZT."
At the sound of the alarm, a very young boy wakes up with a start, sweating at the situation he believed himself to be in. With a couple of deep breaths and a sigh of relief, he brings down his hand on the offending device to finally silence the dreaded buzzing. He reads the time, "5:45 AM Monday," shaking his head and falling out of bed, grabbing his hair tie as his feet hit the hardwood floor. Standing and stretching, he starts to make his way to the bathroom. "Another Monday to kick off an awful week. Why does middle school have to be so difficult?" he groused during a yawn while accidentally slamming the bathroom door.
Author's Footnotes: With a bunch of floundering, and meditation I finally managed to mark an end for the first chapter. I tell you I imagined so many different ways to start this story. Hell I deleted the first paragraph about 11 times till I said fk it and just kept typing. As for the action I didn't want to do too much cuz this is more of an exercise of getting into the shape of writing a fanfic and getting a grip on "How Much Details" I need to put into a scene. Sometimes I caught Myself putting in too many and other times I feel like it's too little and the lasting percent of it feels more like "Does the details connect with each other or feel disconnected?" I knew writing was an ordeal but man this is another level. Anyway thank you for sparing time to read my mid self insert fic. Till Next time o/.
