Tome 3: Getting Adjusted
The chaos continued as we watched this in silence. I pat Asta on the back and glanced at him. He looked at me and nods his head, turning ahead and taking a deep breath and stepping forward.
"MY NAME IS ASTA! I HAIL FROM THE HAGE VILLAGE! I'M ONE OF THE NEW MEMBERS OF YOUR GROUP! NICE TO MEET YOU ALL!" Asta yelled over the chaos and got no response… Like, at all. I blinked in confusion as Noelle scoffed and turned to leave. I grabbed her shoulder and glanced at her.
"You going somewhere?" I asked her seriously.
"This is ridiculous… I don't belong with trash like this," Noelle said seriously as she glared at me. I narrowed my eyes and she flinched at the look.
"Noelle, why did you join this squad if you don't like it? You had access to the other Magic Knights," I said to her and she blushed while looking away.
"Because none of them wanted her," Yami stated at he glanced at her, "Her magic is hereditary through the Silva family, but she can't control her power. They tossed he aside because of it. I took her in since I see the potential, like I told you."
"Ahh… Noelle, you don't have a choice in the matter. This is your only choice," I told her as I let her go. She looked away while blushing, looking angry.
"Anyway, let me get them under control," Vert said as she cleared her throat, "HEY, YOU FUCKERS! WE ARE HERE!" I recoiled at that as I never thought she would go like that.
"YOU'RE DESTROYING THE PLACE! QUIT IT!" Yami yelled as he punched a wall off.
" Bro, you just punched a hole in the wall," I thought and shook my head. Everyone stopped and looked at Vert and Yami with the rest of us surrounding them.
"Welcome back, Captains!" they called as they swarmed Vert and Yami.
"How was it?! These the new fish?!" the orange haired male said and stopped when he looked at me, "Wait, JAMES?!"
"Hold up! Connor, that can't be you!" I said in shock as I grabbed his forearm and he grabs mine, "Ain't no goddamn way! How are you?! I haven't seen you in years!"
"Same to you, you beautiful bastard!" Connor smiled as he and I hug it out, "How are you here?!"
"Hard to explain, man," I told him with a smile. Connor, a friend from my childhood back in my world… He died of lung cancer at 16. I mourned him heavily as he and I were thick as thieves in high school. When he was diagnosed, I was heart broken as his condition was severe. He smiled through it all to comfort his family and me. When he died, his parents were distraught and I was inconsolable.
"You 2 know each other?" Yami asked as he looked at us.
"Err, sorry Captain. This is James, my old friend from my previous life," Connor said and I looked at Connor in shock.
"Wait, he knows you've been reincarnated?" I asked him and Connor nods his head.
"Yeah, I do. Didn't believe him at first, but I got him scoped out by Vert. She sensed an old soul inside him, and that confirmed it for me," Yami told him as he looked at us, "Anyway, this is James. You already know him… I'll let the others introduce themselves."
"Navia Graze. Nice to meet you all," Navia said as she curtsies, "I use Geo Magic, an advanced form of Earth Magic. Let's get along and make great memories together."
"My name is Asta! I umm… Don't have any magic to use, but I hope to get along with you all!" Asta said as he bows to the group.
"…Noelle Silva. I use Water Magic. Don't get used to being around me…" Noelle said as she flips her head off to the side.
"…Bradley Phoenix. I use Slayer Magic. I-I hope to make new friends and get stronger with you all," Bradley said nervously.
"Well, as Yami stated… My name is James Scott. I use Keyblade Magic, which is super versatile. I hope I don't blow your expectations away," I told them as I bowed to them.
"What's Keyblade Magic?" Noelle asked as she looked at me. I called out my Grimoire and pulled out my Keyblade.
"This… Is my Keyblade Magic. It has multiple uses with it," I told them as I snapped the Fairy Tail Keychain onto the handle. The red flames danced around me as I cracked my neck.
"It gives me access to any magic I want… But, there is a drawback. I can't spam multiple of these at once. I always have to switch them."
"Wait, those look super familiar! James, hold up… You got Kingdom Hearts in you?" Connor joked and I laughed at that.
"In a way, yes and no," I told him, "But, you're on the right track." He smirked as I remembered that Kingdom Hearts was his favorite game series.
"But, let's continue with intros. You wanna go next?" I said. Connor looked at Yami and Yami nods his head while Vert nods her head as well.
"Well, my name is Connor Evansons. I use Chaos Force Magic," Connor said as he cracked his back, "I'm the fastest Magic Knight in the Black Bulls." Chaos Force? That sounds like he has Sonic abilities.
"My name is Plutia Edstrom. I use Voodoo Magic as well as other Elemental Magic… But, my Voodoo Magic always makes me sleepy," Plutia told us as she rubs her eyes.
"Call me Maki Oze. I use Fire Magic… But, I also dabble in Strength Magic," the girl with large muscles said as she stretched her body out.
"HI! I'm Charmy! I use Cotton Magic!" she said as she looked at us while eating a large cookie, "Wanna bite?" We shook our heads slowly.
"More for me!" She ate the cookie quickly.
"Gauche… That's my name. I use Mirror Magic, but none of you are qualified to meet my sister," He said as he looked at us.
"Dude, no one cares. Stop being creepy," Maki said as she glared at him. Gauche gave her a heated glare.
"Anyway… Call me Luck Voltia! I use Lightning Magic! Are any of you guys strong?!" an energetic male said as he got in front of us.
"Luck, I ought to put you and Magni as well as Connor on probation for wrecking the place while we were gone," Vert told them as she gave them a knowing look.
"Aww, come on Boss Lady! I bet a battle will unnerve you!" Luck told her with a smirk. Vert closed her eyes and counted to 3.
"No, Luck. Get back in line… NOW," Vert ordered and Luck chuckled while rushing over to the group.
"Anyway, I'm Magni Swing! I use Fire Magic! We should give them the Baptism by Fire, Vert!" Magni called as he held a black bat over his shoulder.
"You and Luck are pushing it today, Magni," Vert said as she narrowed her eyes, "Anyway, That's Grey in the back. She doesn't talk much… She's a bit shy." I looked at the large being behind everyone and waved to it with a smile. The figure slowly waves to me and looked down.
"Don't worry. She is a sweetheart. Just be kind to her. She uses Transmutation Magic. And, as for Gordon… He is also not that outspoken like the others. He uses Poison Magic." Gordon looked at me and nods his head.
"Finally… Over there is Mona Megistus and Vanessa Enoteca. They are our resident drunks… Considering that Mona is barely 19 and developing those habits, I worry for her. Mona uses Water Magic and Vanessa uses Thread Magic." Mona groaned and sat up, tipping her hat and looking around.
"Oh. Sorry, we're we doing something… Handsome boy alert!" Mona said drunkenly as she stumbled over to me and looked me up and down. She held up her finger and puked off to the side. I smacked my forehead and groaned. Oh, my god… Seriously? Mona clears her throat as she seemed sober after that.
"Apologies. Ahem!" Mona said and everyone sighed at that while Vert just groaned out loud. I feel you, Vert… That was disgusting.
"You're new… Can I get a name?"
"James. You're not gonna clean that-" I said and pointed to the floor. There was no vomit on the floor where she puked.
"…Never mind."
"Mona Megistus, at your service," she said as she bows to me. She wore a leotard that cut off at the legs and revealed her rather plump thighs and long legs. She had on the Black Bulls robe over her leotard and a blue witch's hat on her black hair.
"Mona… Right," I said as I blinked at her, "Question. When do we get our robes?"
"Well, Magni did mention our… Initiation. Baptism by fire… But, since these idiots ended up nearly wrecking the place, I will be the one administering the initiation," Vert told us and looked at the others, "Well, me and Maki."
"Booyah! I get to show my power!" Maki yelled as she punched her fists.
"We won't go one at a time… You all will face me and Maki," Vert told us rookies as she folded her arms, "Outside. I ain't destroying any more furniture." That's fair. Asta came up beside me and I looked down at him.
"Are We screwed?" Asta asked me and I gave him a smirk.
"Nah. Let's just try to survive, okay?" I told him and he nods his head, "We would need to be the best us we can be, okay?" Asta nods his head.

Myself, Asta, Bradley, Noelle, and Navia were on one side of the field and Vert and Maki were waiting on another side of the field. The others were watching this from the sidelines. I gulped and looked at the others, who looked nervously at me. I closed my eyes and sighed.
"Do your best. That's all you can do," I said and held my Keyblade at my side. Asta pulled out his large Demon Dweller Sword and held it in front of himself. Noelle and Navia got a serious look on their faces as Bradley was still super nervous.
"You okay? You look like you're gonna piss yourself," Navia told Bradley and he blushed.
"I… Have never beaten Vert in a spar before," He said and Navia smiled at him.
"Well, you got us… We will try our best," Navia told him and he relaxed a bit.
"Are you all ready?" Vert called as she called out a long Spear from her Grimoire and held it at her left side.
"Yes! We are!" Noelle called and I nodded my head.
"Good. We'll take the first move," she called and cracked her neck, " Spear Magic: Hallowed Rain!" Several green Glyphs appeared and shot out several spears at us. We quickly split up bit I stayed in my spot, quickly snapping in Bleach's Keychain and summoning my Zanpakuto, Wave, to my free left hand. I slashed faster than the eye can see and parried each spear away from me into the ground besides me.
" Geo Magic: Vice Quake!" Navia called as she folded in her umbrella and slams it down to the ground, shaking it quite heavily. Vert slams her spear into the ground and hops onto the pole, keeping her steady as the ground quaked and threw a few of us off-balance.
" Water Magic: Blessed Cannon!" Noelle called and shot off a large bubble at Vert, but it veered off course and slammed into Asta nearby. He yelled in pain as he crashed to the ground.
"Ow! What the heck?!" Asta called as Noelle blushed.
"You were in the way!" Noelle called as she looked away.
"Focus! Hollow Magic: Cero!" I yelled as I pointed Wave ahead of me and fired a large blue beam at Vert. Maki got in the way and blocked it with her bare arms… Easily, in fact. It barely done any damage to her! I looked in shock at that as Maki shook her arms.
"That stings a bit. Nice power," Maki told me and cracked her neck. On, I'm fucked… Maki pounced at me and I quickly switched Bleach and Dragon Ball's Keychains in and out. Wave vanished and I quickly blocked an incoming punch from her… Which ended up fracturing my arm! I yelped in shock and pain as I sailed into a tree and crashed through it. I rolled to a stop, clutching my fractured right arm and hissing in pain.
"James, you okay?!" Asta called to me as he coughed out water.
"FUCK! Goddamn it, that hurt! Ugh, I'm fine!" I yelped as I sat up and held my throbbing arm. Wow, Maki is WAY stronger than I thought. Makes me think everyone in this world would be stronger. Them nerfs are kicking my ass right now… Okay, I need to assess this. Maki has Strength Magic as well as Fire Magic… But, I don't know the extent of Vert's Magic. Bradley never mentioned it. Speaking of which…
" Slayer Magic: Wind Blade!" Bradley called as he shot off a large vertical air slash as Maki, who turned and side steps the fast attack without effort. She's fast for her size, no doubt about it… Asta swung at Vert with his sword, clashing with her spear. Both held their weapons with their strong grip, keeping themselves in a stalemate. I then had an idea…
"Noelle, fire off another Water Spell at me!" I told Noelle and she looked at me incredulously.
"What are you planning?!" Noelle asked me.
"Trust me!" I called as I switched out Dragon Ball and put in Fairy Tail quickly. Noelle gave me a look and decided to prepare another spell.
" Water Magic: Oceanid's Kiss!" Noelle called and a large bullet shaped bubble shot at me. It did hit me on the shoulder… But, I use my Slayer side to absorb it and the magic that it came with. I then was surrounded in a blue aura and cracked my neck. My arm also got healed by this.
"Thanks! That helps!" I called as I raced ahead, "Provide cover fire with Navia, Noelle!"
" Geo Magic: Stonehenge Rave!" Navia called as she slammed her left hand on the ground and several Stonehenge pillars surrounded Maki.
" Water Magic: Arctic Rain!" Noelle called as she held her hands above her head. Rain began pelting the ground and I clapped my hands together as I ran towards Maki.
"Heh… Their teamwork is growing. But!" Maki called as she grabs a Stonehenge and pulled it out of the ground. She swung it at me, who was still running towards her. I unsheathe my Keyblade from my left side and slid under the Stonehenge and knocked it away.
"Bradley, you and Asta double team Vert! Navia and Noelle, help me with Maki!" I ordered as I regained my footing and stopped behind Maki. Sheathing my Keyblade, I grabbed Maki around her and yelled in exertion, using my Saiyan strength to lift her off the ground. She gasped in shock as she dropped the Stonehenge. I then German Suplex her into the ground, shaking it quite a bit. I got out of the hold and Maki groaned as she rubbed her neck. She quickly recovered and glanced at Me.
"Not bad, James. No guy had done that to me… I consider the first guy to lift me like that boyfriend material," Maki said and I just blushed at that, "Ha! Let your guard down!" Huh? She kicked me in the face, knocking me back into the ground. I rubbed my face and looked up as Maki was about to 2 hand sledgehammer me into the ground.
" Geo Magic: Stone Barrier!" Navia called and summoned a large stone barrier around my body. Maki slams onto the barrier and cracked it apart, hut it still stood. I quickly dug under the ground and made a tunnel to escape. I dug until I made my way to Navia and Noelle. I pop up above ground and pull myself out. I rubbed my nose and narrow my eyes at Maki as she glanced at us.
"Good teamwork, you 3. Could use a bit more finesse, but I expect that from rookies," Maki told us as she folded her arms.
"Wait, has she used a magic spell?" Noelle realized.
"Nope," I said in shock as I blinked a few times.
"Yeah, we are not winning," Navia said as she narrowed her eyes.
"That was never the idea, kids. If you concentrate on one thing, it will blind you to a lot of things," Maki told us as she smirked at us, "Remember, this is a test."
"Still… I want to prove that I'm not weak," Noelle said as she looked at Maki as she prepared another spell.
"Same," I said as I cracked my neck, "Noelle, listen… I need you to try and concentrate again. Think on this: Imagine an egg, holding its contents inside without breaking." Noelle looked at me and then at her hands. She sighed and pulled out a black wand.
"Now, hold that thought and imagine your magic being held in place. Keep that in mind." She opened her eyes and she was surrounded in a blue aura.
" Water Magic: Flood Pride!" Noelle called as she shot a stream of water at Maki, making her block. The water splashed against her body, soaking her clothing: Which was a sports bra and black leggings, red fingerless gloves, and the Black Bulls robe over her bra. Quickly, I changed out Fairy Tail and put in Naruto. Holding my left hand downwards, electricity sparked from my hand.
"Navia…" I said and she looked at my left hand.
"I got you! Go!" Navia called as she spun her umbrella at her side, " Geo Magic: Stone Age!" Navia taps her umbrella on the ground and several stones surrounded Maki. I leaped off of each one as Maki broke each one I hopped off. However, I was moving faster than she could track.
"Now: Lightning Style: Chidori!" I yelled and appeared behind her and shoved my electrified hand into her back, opening my palm to land a palm strike to her back. She was shocked pretty heavily and she screamed out in shock. She fell forwards and was knocked out by that. I sighed as Nadia clapped her hands happily.
"We did it!" Navia called to me as I looked down at Maki.
"Sorry about that, Maki Senpai…" I told her and knelt beside her. She groaned out and chuckled.
"Twice you got behind me… You are something special. James, right?" She said as she sat up, "You and them pass. Damn, that smarts. Didn't know you had something like that in your bag of tricks." I scratched the back of my head and chuckled.
"You are vastly stronger than I thought. Like, you're physically twice as strong as me," I told her as I still felt the phantom pain from her breaking my arm, "You held back still, huh?" Maki smiled as she knew I figured her out.
"Yep. Where's the fun in using all I got against you guys? I didn't even need to use my Fire Magic, which is what I'm known for. Everyone calls me the Pyro Muscle Witch for a reason," Maki told me as I helped her to her feet. I glanced over to see Asta panting and holding his sword in front of him with Bradley at his side, also tired and bruised up. Vert was shown to have several cuts on her body and blood dripping down her chin. She laughed a little as she saw Maki and I talking.
"Looks like she passed them. I'll say the same… You gotten much stronger, Bradley. I'm so happy to see that," Vert said as she spun her spear at her side and it vanished into thin air as she tossed it into the air while it spun. Her wounds started rapidly healing as she walked over to them.
"Asta, you are way better than I had imagined. Looks like you one shooting that pretentious guy back in the exam earlier today wasn't a fluke. That sword… I can tell it is special," Vert told Asta as she checked it out, "It has Anti-Magic properties about it. Very rare, indeed… How did you acquire it?"
"…Not really sure. It just appeared about half a year ago when I was in trouble and bailed me and my friends out," Asta said truthfully as he looked at Vert, "Wait, you know what this is?!"
"A little. I don't have full info on it, but I'd say you have the perfect counter to most offensive and defensive mages. Count yourself lucky," Vert said with a smile, "With proper training, you will be a monster to deal with."
"He'd better be. I gave him tips on sword fighting, after all," I called as we all walked over to them.
"You taught him how to fight like he did? He matched me blow for blow!" Vert said in surprise. I nodded my head as Asta rubs his nose while smiling.
"That makes you guys even more impressive!" Connor told us as he pats my shoulder, "Man, I'm so glad that you are here!"
"I'm glad to see you, Connor. I did miss you," I told him and he hugs me.
"…" Noelle was silent as she looked at her hands. She was probably thinking about the battle.
"You did good, Noelle," I told her and she looked up at me, "I'm serious, no joke. You helped a lot…"
"…I… Thank you. It's hard to contain my power, considering I barely have control over it," Noelle said as she folded her arms and blushed while looking away.
"And? I barely have control over my own power," I told her and she looked at me, "I have to constantly switch abilities to stay in control. It's not fun and games for me, either. Asta has no magic power…"
"Wait, you were serious? How does he have a Grimoire?" Noelle asked in shock.
"It's Anti-Magic. You haven't heard of that, have you?" I said and she shook her head.
"I barely can contain my own power, either," Bradley stated as he came up beside Noelle.
"To be honest, my magic isn't that powerful, either. I do have complete control, it's just lacking in the power department," Navia stated as she opened her umbrella, "I had to commission for a conduit to amplify my magic power, which is very frowned upon in the magic world. Otherwise, I would never fit in."
"The umbrella?" Vert asked as she looked at it. Navia nods her head. Noelle looked down and realized that everyone had their own problems.
"It's why I took you guys in. Potential to grow from where you are now. Just need the control," Yami spoke as he was holding a robe in his left hand. He tossed it to me and I caught it.
"You guys are worth the trouble you might cause because your hearts in the right place," Vert said as she hands Asta and Bradley their robes. Plutia hands Noelle and Navia their robes and we all slipped them on. I placed my hand on the robe and smiled as I was now officially a Black Bull. Asta was beaming like crazy, pumped that he was another step closer to his dream. I ruffled the little bastard's hair and chuckled as he tried to fight out of my grip.
"We're on our way, brother…" I told him and he smirked at me. I looked at the others as Vanessa had used her Thread Magic to etch the Black Bulls symbol on Asta's headband.
"There we go. A little present from us," Vanessa giggled. I closed my eyes and sighed… Knowing this will be our life now. I'm kinda pumped for the future… Not knowing that a lot will be in store for us.
