So, I decided to leave the title of this story out of later chapters. This is where Nathan starts at U.A. but before I get to it, I'm going to hold a contest. I would like to see the best fanart of Nathan and the 1A students vs The Nomu from the previous. You can submit the art to my personal Email. . The three winners will get a cameo in the next chapter probably as an info leak with their username. Alright time for the next chapter.

Chapter 4: U.A.'s New Student

Nathan sits in a chair at the police chief's office. Right in front of him was Toshinori Yagi. and the police chief, Tsurugamae. They were silent and gave Nathan a look of skepticism and looking for sudden moves.

"So, you're that vigilante." the Chief said.

Nathan nodded.

"And you're just turning yourself in?" the chief continued. Nathan looked at Yagi. nathan sighed.

"I get it, you don't trust me. But, I can earn it."

"Earn it how?"

"I was wondering if I could enroll at U.A."

There was a pause. Yagi and Tsurugamae we're trying to process what they just heard.

"It doesn't work like that, you have a criminal background, and you said you're homeless. We don't accept people with no education."

Nathan was silent for a moment.

"How many innocent people did I kill?" Nathan asked suddenly.

"Excuse me?" Yagi asked

"You said I had a criminal background. I assume you're talking about killing people. Were they innocent people?" Nathan asked.

"That's not the point" Tsurugamei replied.

"Then what is my criminal background. What about the criminal background of the ones I let live? Because last I checked half of the ones I let live had a criminal background. Most of them were serial killers or worse. You're saying I should let people like that live?" Nathan asked.

"They should be locked up." Yagi said.

"For how long? And what if they escape. Even the most secure prisons are prone to prison breaks."

Yagi and Tsurugamei we're silent. As much as they both didn't like to admit it. This kid was right.

"If it's all the same to you. I don't kill thieves, not if they're not serial killers."

"Are you a thief. How does a kid survive that long without money?" Yagi asked.

"Simple, I learned how to fish and repair broken down vehicles to ride. Broken down vehicles that people let me have. People that had no use for them."

Yagi nodded. "I see."

Tsurugamei stood up. "These people, who are they?"

Nathan leaned back. "Usually, mechanics, some were poor fishermen that were trying to get rid of old fishing hooks and fishing rods. And I do look for work with some mechanics to pay those people back for their help."

Nathan sat up straight. "Does that answer your question?"

The chief still wasn't buying it.

"So, you want to join at U.A. with no official education, and a vigilante background."

Nathan shrugged.

"If you want confirmation, ask Izuku Midoriya, Ejiro Kirishima, Katsuki Bakugou and Ochako Uraraka. You can confirm with them."

Yagi's eyes widened.

"What did you do to them?"

"Nothing, like i said, I'm not a total psychopath, in fact, if anything, i may have just saved uraraka's life."

Yagi and Tsurugamei look at each other.

"Where are they?"

Nathan exhales.

"Central Hospital."

Yagi and Nathan show up at Central hospital. Yagi finds Midoriya, Todoroki Kirishima, Bakugou and Tokoyami. "All Might?" Midoriay asked in surprise. Everyone turned to see Yagi, and Nathan walking behind him.

They all went into Urarakas hospital room. She was unconscious and with a seared stab wound in her shoulder.

"What happened?" Yagi asked Midoriya.

"Uraraka get impaled with rebar, we were attacked by a Nomu. Nathan defeated it and cauterized her wound." Midoriya said.

"We would have been killed if it wasn't for him." Todoroki said, vouching for Nathan.

Yagi turned to Nathan.

"Thank you for that, but how did you defeat this Nomu?"

Nathan shifted a bit.

"I rode it off a cliff, with a chain around its neck attached to my motorcycle." Nathan said, clearly aware of what's probably going to be not the best response.

Yagi was visibly unnerved by that explanation.

"It's dead?" Yagi asked.

"Nomu's are already dead to begin with." Bakugo said with a hint of arrogance.

"Not this one." Nathan interjected. "I look into it's eyes, it had what looked like some semblance of a soul. Whatever the case, I saw guilt, or maybe pain, like it wanted me to end it's suffering." Nathan trailer off with this final line.

Yagi was talking outside the hospital with Principal Nezu on the phone. Nathan was nearby

"Yes, he's asking to enroll at U.A… yes it's the same person. His methods are questionable but he has potential. I think he could become a hero. Ok. Ok. I understand, thank you." Yagi hung up and approached.

"He's considering it. In the meantime, you should stay in police custody." Yagi said.

"'Sigh' Alright, for how long?" Nathan asked.

"At least a day or two,"Yagi said.

"Then I guess that's fine. Whatever makes people feel safe." Nathan said.

Nathan had a backpack full of clothes he wears on a normal day. And now he was lying in a cell at the police station just staring at the ceiling. Meanwhile Yagi, and Shota Aizawa known as Eraserhead keep an eye on him outside the cell.

"How do I know I can trust him?" Aizawa asked Yagi with his usually deadpan expression.

"He saved one of your students' lives, I never met a villain who does that and then turns himself in. and even if he did plan on turning against us. I don't see any reason for him to have an angle." Yagi said.

"Regardless, I'm keeping a close eye on him." Aizawa replied.

"I know. So am I." Yagi said.

They looked into the cell one more time and Nathan had already fallen asleep, using his backpack as a pillow.

Nathan woke up the next morning to the sound of his cell door opening and Aizawa and Principal Nezu had walked in. Aizawa was using his quirk on Nathan. Nathan didn't even bother to look at him. Principal Nezu began to speak.

"I've been told you want to join U.A. high school. And that you saved one of our students." Nezu asked in his usual voice.

"Yeah, that's right." Nathan said bluntly.

"And why should we believe that? We know you're a vigilante and a murderer." Aizawa said.

"Is it really a crime to kill a killer?" Nathan asked.

"It only makes us like them." Aizawa says.

Nathan sighs.

"I think you of all people would know that the world doesn't operate like that. Sooner or later, you'll have to make that choice. Those criminals I killed, like I said, were serial killers. The rest were just grand larcenists." Nathan said.

"And you let thieves live? Why?"

Aizawa asked.

"Because they didn't kill anyone, that's why they brought serial killers with them because they don't have the guts to kill anyone themselves."

Nezu had one question that everyone was wondering about.

"Speaking of the theives, what happened to their eyes."

Nathan was silent for a moment and mumbled something they couldn't hear.

"Speak louder." Aizawa said firmly.

Nathan looked at Aizawa and said.

"I used an ability called the penance stare. It makes them feel the same pain they caused on their victims." Nathan waited for that to sink in.

"It doesn't work on people who are blind, don't have souls or have no regrets."

Aizawa was suspicious.

"Then why did you use the ability on that Nomu?"

"That Nomu had a soul." Nathan said matter of factly, before continuing. "A tortured soul, I basically did it a favor."

Aizawa was silent. He couldn't see any clear proof that this kid was lying.

"you will be given a polygraph test. And if you're lying, we'll know."

Nathan shrugged.

"Alright."

An Hour later…

Nathan was sitting with a police officer in front of a polygraph. Aizawa and All Might were there to make sure Nathan doesn't try anything.

The officer began asking the questions written out. Half of which confused the officer but didn't question it.

"Did you save Ochako Uraraka?

Does your penance stare affect soulless creatures?

How long did you live in the street?

Did you ever steal anything?"

Nathan answered accordingly yes or no.

The officer read the polygraph and the officer looked at Aizawa and said

"He's telling the truth."

Aizawa walked over and looked for himself. He looked at Nathan who just sat quietly looking at Aizawa.

"Well? Do you believe me now?" Nathan asked.

"Alright. We'll give you a chance. But you must follow our rules." Aizawa said.

"Fair enough. When do I start?" Nathan asked.

"Next week." Aizawa replied.

Aizawa, Chief Tsurugamae and All Might walked out of the police station.

"I hope you know what you're doing." Tsurugamei said to Aizawa and All Might.

"He told the truth. And he saved Uraraka's life. I think that says enough. But we will keep an eye on him." Aizawa said and he walks away.
