Charlie once again patted her hair down, hoping that she didn't have any hair sticking out as she slowly made her way to where Sasha Banks was seated talking to Holly Holiday, the Dean of Summit. Inhaling deeply she dropped down in front of them and flashed what she hoped to be her most charming smile. "Dean, Holiday," Charlie said, greeting her briefly, as she immediately turned her attention to Sasha Banks. She immediately sticks out her hand. "Charlie Fabray, level 5 my powers are basically electromagnetism. I'm also one of your biggest fans."
Sasha Banks pulled up her sunglasses and studied the teenager in front of her who was basically vibrating in excitement. "I can see that," Sasha said motioning to Charlie's blue hair. She lets out a small chuckle when the teenager basically touches her blue locks. "You were very impressive, in that hero course—even if the test was laughably easy. You could have done the course by yourself right?"
Charlie flicked her eyes to look at the field, "We both could have," Charlie said after a moment. "McKinley isn't one to spend money on their hero course, so I'm actually surprised our test wasn't doing an obstacle course and calling it a day." Charlie smiles when Sasha chuckles again. This was going smashingly well, she had no idea why Quinn had laughed at her when she stated she was going to ask Sasha Banks out on a date. "I've been following the 4 Horsewomen for years, and I would be honored if you considered me for an internship, maybe we can discuss it over coffee?"
Sasha's eyebrows shot up in shock and tilted her head, as Holly began to laugh at Charlie's boldness. There was an eagerness on Charlie's face even if her ears were turning a red. She was used to this, but she was mostly used to horny teenage boys making gross comments to her. "We do have a process for internships," Sasha said slowly, watching as Charlie brightens. "Which you can find on our website. We can't be showing any favoritism now."
Charlie's nose crinkled, "Well maybe you can give me some tips on what I can do better? Over coffee? My treat?"
At Charlie's second attempt, Holly lost it as she laughed even harder. That confidence of hers would lead Charlie far in the hero world. There was very little hesitation in her actions and it was something that they spent years teaching at Summit.
Sasha smiled at Charlie and leaned forward, causing Charlie to immediately lean forward as well, "Perhaps when you turn twenty-five you can try again if I'm not married, and someone age appropriate doesn't snatch you up" she pats Charlie on the head.
Charlie blinked and vibrated in excitement. That wasn't a no. All it meant was that she had to wait nine years. She could do that. By then she'd be the most popular hero on the planet. "Alright," Charlie practically chirps, before she takes off to tell Quinn the good news.
Holly wiped a tear away, and rubbed her sides. "You know she's going to carry a torch for you."
Sasha looked at the file, she had been given about Charlie. She'd never met a level five before, and if Charlie wanted to intern with the 4 horsewomen she'd be an idiot if she said no. It would only raise their profile. "She's a leap year baby, she'll be a 100 before she's actually 25. Some other teenager will catch her attention by then, and she'll forget all about me."
Holly snorted, Sasha was correct, it was nothing more than a silly teenage crush. "But the internship?"
"The kid's going to be a rockstar in the hero world one day, she's level 5, and is clearly confident in her skills. From the little that I saw, she probably doesn't need to attend Summit. The government, our government will hand her a license the day she turns 18. You want my advice, you need to do everything in your power to get her to go to Summit, or even any of the other top tier schools. You want to keep her out of the public eye while she finishes maturing. The money, the fame, all of that might go to her head otherwise. I've seen it happen before," Sasha stated simply before closing Charlie's file. "What about the other one?"
"Doesn't want to be a hero, she also doesn't want to work for the government. It's a huge thing, the family is powerful. It makes the politicians nervous when they aren't willing to be controlled, but Artemis was very firm about it. Her grandchildren and children would choose what they wanted to do for themselves."
"I want to see what Quinn can do, perhaps I'll be able to convince her to at least do an internship with us," Sasha said, turning her attention back to the field that had been cleared.

"She didn't say no!" Charlie informed her twin who turned to look at Sasha Banks. "She said when I was 25, I could ask her out again, if I was single and she was single. And you said she'd laugh in my face."
"Charlie you'll be officially 25 when I'm 100 years old," Quinn reminded her twin, watching as Charlie's brow furrowed. "She played you. I mean at least she let you down gently."
Charlie puffed out her cheeks. "You don't know that. And don't be jealous that I got a maybe, when you can't even work up the courage to ask out pretty girls who are clearly into you," Charlie snapped crossing her arms over her chest.
Quinn rolled her eyes, choosing to leave that comment alone instead she turned her attention back to her father, who looked positively incensed that their mother was talking to another man. "What's dad doing?"
Charlie glanced over at her parents for a moment before shrugging her shoulders. "Getting annoyed that mom isn't showering him with attention. He misses her, that's not true—he misses how she used to take care of him. I mean he used to come home to a hot plate of mom's delicious cooking, and mom would pour him that glass of scotch. Plus it's obvious mom chose his clothes as well, his shirt is vomit green Quinn. Mom would never let him out of the house looking like that."
"He cheated on her—"
"Quinn, mom and dad had problems in their marriage way before the cheating thing happened. He's always been a terrible husband. He was barely a passable father, I don't quite know why you're so upset about this," Charlie said with a shrug of her shoulders. "Either way this is their business. Not ours, let them figure it out. We've got other things to worry about like looking good in front of Sasha Banks. I wouldn't mind being her sidekick and having her teach me a few things. Which is why I think I'm going to ask grandma to drop her gravity field around me."
Quinn rolled her eyes, "Stop trying to make it happen Charlie, it's never going to happen. Not in this lifetime. You have a better chance of Santana Lopez falling in love with you. And I'm pretty sure she wants to strangle you."
Charlie snorted, and scans the audience until her eyes land on Santana who is glaring at her. She waves at Santana a huge smile on her face and gets rewarded with Santana flipping her off. "Santana is an anomaly. Everyone loves me Quinn."
"Your long list of ex-girlfriends states otherwise, pretty sure a lot of them want to cause you bodily harm as well," Quinn reminded Charlie.
"Nonsense," Charlie spots Rachel and approaches her, tugging Quinn along. "Rachel we're friends right? And I have a special place in your heart right, as your ex-girlfriend?"
Rachel looked at both twins for a moment and even as Quinn shook her head no, she can't help but smile at Charlie. "Yes, we're friends Charlie. And you'll always have a special place in my heart, as my first girlfriend. Even if our time was cut tragically short."
"See Quinn. Rachel also has a special place in my heart. Now with that I'm going to get grandma to remove the gravitational field around me."
Quinn groaned when Charlie stuck out her tongue, before wandering off. "Please stop feeding her delusions."
Rachel let out a laugh. "She was technically my first girlfriend. But I don't think our relationship would have lasted any longer than 10 minutes. Your sister, as amusing as I find her is a—"
"An idiot. I know," Quinn finishes for her, smiling when Rachel pinches her arm.
"I was going to say a lot, and that's coming from me. She has a big personality and she will probably be the most popular hero in a few years." Rachel said before nudging Quinn again who seemed to be looking over at her parents. "Are you okay?"
Quinn flashed Rachel a smile. "Yeah, this part of the examination shouldn't really take long. But I guess they really want us to show them what we can do within reason. I should probably get back on the field. I'm going first because Charlie wants them to remember her or whatever."
Rachel laughs and looks over at Charlie who was talking animatedly with her grandparents and looks back at Quinn, as a loud buzzer goes off, and a man steps onto the field, causing Rachel's eyes to widen and she grips Quinn's arm, stopping her from moving. "That's Rod Remmington, he may be a retired hero, but he was Ohio's greatest hero for years. He may only be a level 4, and I know there's a massive difference, but he was always a high level 4, and he has years of experience. So be careful."
Quinn blinks, and studies the man who has an eerily similar build and look to her father. Perfect, someone who could handle whatever she threw at him. "I'll be fine Rachel. Honestly it'll be fun to let loose. Can't let Charlie get all the glory right?"
"Right," Rachel said, squeezing Quinn's hand before pulling away to go and sit by Charlie. She nudges Charlie who was fiddling with her phone. "Quinn will be okay right?"
Charlie looks up at the field, "What's his power?"
"Vibration manipulation.'
"It's a tricky opponent for Quinn, but nothing she couldn't handle if she's been keeping up with her exercises." Lawrence said with a dismissive wave of his hand.
Rachel let out a small relieved sigh, at Lawrence's confidence, not noting how Charlie stiffens and puts her phone away and starts paying attention to her surroundings, focusing on her twin sister.
~ O ~
Quinn grimaced as her back slammed hard against a pillar of ice that she had created. The force is enough to knock the air from her lungs and she doubles over, trying to catch her breath.
"Is that it? Is that all a level 5 can do? I'm certain that I've beaten villains who have more power in their pinky than you do," Rod Remington boasted laughing, before flicking his wrist.
The ground under Quinn's feet suddenly pitches unevenly, causing Quinn to stumble to the ground. She barely has time to throw herself out of the way of the massive ice pillar of ice crumbles. "Shit," Quinn manages to get out before she slowly gets up. She hadn't expected this fight to last as long as it had and she was certain that the blast that she had taken at the beginning, had broken some of her ribs. It hurt to breathe, and slamming into the ice pillar hadn't done her injuries any favors.
The roar of the crowd is almost dizzying and she looks around, desperately trying to come up with a plan. With Rod's vibrational abilities, it made manipulating molecules difficult. He seemed able to blast through anything she threw at him. Encasing him in ice had lasted seconds, and hadn't given enough time to figure out a game plan. She briefly wondered what her twin would do in this situation, but she doubted Charlie would have let it go this long.
Quinn manages to throw herself out of the way, once more as Rod Remington attacks again, this time his movements stiffer and she scowls, as she feels her frustration mounts, she was a level 5, this shouldn't be difficult for her.
"Come on Quinnie."
Quinn stiffened and turned to look at her father who was on his feet trying to will her back into this fight, and she clenched her fists tighter. He had no right to be here. Charlie was right; he was barely a passable father, and this wasn't about her. If he had actually cared about them then he would have followed them all the way to Ohio and done everything in his power to be around for them. He would have fought harder to keep them, and stop their mother from dragging them to this shitty little town.
And even now while he was cheering for her, and making a fool of himself. It wasn't about her, it was about attempting to get into their mother's pants. A large crack suddenly appears underneath Quinn as frost slowly starts to spread from her feet as she pushes herself to a standing position. The air around her started to whip around her as the temperature around her began to fluctuate rapidly, causing snowflakes to appear.
A biting cold wind slams into him, and Rod shivers as he stares at Quinn who suddenly looked very angry. He frowned, he should have ended this ages ago, but there was something about the roar of the crowd that was as infectious as it had always been. And he had wanted to put this so-called level 5 in her place. He was the biggest star that Ohio had ever seen, and perhaps it was time for him to come out of retirement. He could see the headlines now. Rod Remington Still Has It!
A smirk crosses his face as he pulls his arms back, he had dragged this on long enough it was time to end this, before she mounted a comeback. The air shimmers as it begins to vibrate rapidly, before he shoots a concussive blast at Quinn once again. He expects her to throw herself out of the way but instead she just walks through the vibrations as if they were nothing. He blinks, that wasn't possible. That shouldn't be possible at all. He immediately begins to vibrate everything from the ground to Quinn's bones as Quinn keeps walking forward, seemingly unperturbed by his abilities.
There is an eerie stillness around Quinn as she walks, limps towards Rod Remington and slowly raises her hand. Which causes Rod to panic and immediately start firing off concussive blasts at Quinn but they didn't seem to be doing anything. And he briefly wonders if she'd just been faking being pushed around. How had he become the one that was being pushed back.
As Quinn's hand suddenly pushes into his personal space, Rod finally gives into the overwhelming panic he feels deep within his chest. As he increases the vibrational frequency of the air around him, as Quinn attempts to touch him. It was like nothing he had ever felt before. Stillness. It was the only way he could explain it, it was suffocating and oppressive.
He was going to die.
He was going to die!
There's a flash of blue light and suddenly a hand appears in front of him as Quinn brushes past it. It's almost horrific to watch the skin get covered in what appeared to be pure ice and he lashes out with all of his ability to try and stop Quinn, even as he is suddenly propelled backwards. It sounds like glass shattering and he's suddenly hit by chunks of ice, causing him to close his eyes.
Quinn is flung back, and manages to stop herself from flying away as she blinks to see Charlie in front of her. Her twin's arms were outstretched—Quinn's eyes widened as she stared at where Charlie's right arm should be and screamed in horror. There was nothing there and it takes a second for people to stop cheering at this blood sport and realize that something was very wrong.
Someone screams and Charlie tears her eyes off Quinn to turn to them, when she notices that her right arm is gone. Her hand, her arm, her elbow and a huge part of her bicep was just gone. Charlie blinked; she hadn't felt anything. She turns to look at her twin for a moment before her body finally enters a state of shock and she promptly passes out.
