Chapter 24: Landing at Point Rain

After learning about a huge droid factory being built on Geonosis by Separatist Leader Poggle the Lesser, the Republic knew they had to destroy this before it built enough battle droids to overwhelm them.
Just outside the planet, we see Shun standing with Obi-Wan and Ki Adi Mundi.
"So this is the planet where it all began?" Shun asks.
"Yes, it was the Battle of Geonosis that led to the beginning of the Clone Wars," Obi-Wan said.
"Tell me young Padawan have you read any of the Temple Archvices about the First Battle of Geonosis?" Ki Adi Mundi asks.
"A few things. I know that this was the battle where the Jedi first utilized having a Clone Army at their side," Shun recalls.
"It's also what allowed the Supreme Chancellor to increase his term as well as the scope of his emergency powers," Obi-Wan said.
"That's a lot to bestow on one more person. I mean you people are putting a lot of faith in Palpatine," Shun said getting an easy feeling from this.
"Maybe but Chancellor Palpatine has proven he's more than capable of handling such power. Not to mention, Palpatine himself even put the notion that he would step down from power when the war ended." Ki Adi Mundi said.
"Yeah but who knows how long that could be?" Shun asks.
"Agreed. Still, I cannot believe we're back here again." Obi-Wan said.
"It is unfortunate, the resistance from the native Geonosians was stronger than we anticipated." Ki Adi Mundi said as the doors opened revealing Anakin and Ahsoka.
"The same could be said for their loyalty to Count Dooku," Obi-Wan said.
"A fate that could often be overlooked." Ki Adi Mundi said as they approached them.
"You're late," Obi-Wan said not even turning around.
"Sorry Master. Ahsoka and I were busy routing some Seppies near Dorin." Anakin said.
"My squadron alone had 55 Kills." Ahsoka boasts.
"Not bad but my squad had 76." Anakin counters.
"Show off." Ahsoka rolls her eyes.
"Man, you guys get to do all the good missions while I get stuck reading history lessons," Shun said jealous while Anakin chuckled.
"Oh I know that feeling, Master would make me stay in those Archives for days reading things," Anakin said.
"And yet you don't seem to remember many of them," Obi-Wan said making Shun and Ahsoka snicker. "Shun the more you learn about the past, the more prepared you'll be for the future."
"Yes, Master." Shun sighed knowing there was no way he was gonna win this argument.
"Alright, you 4 that's enough. You've had your go at each other." Ki Adi Mundi said. "We need to focus. It's crucial that this invasion of Geonosis meets with success."
"Agreed. Ahsoka, contact the Outer Rim Command. We're ready for our briefing." Anakin orders.
"They're already waiting for us." Ahsoka smirks.
Making their way to the room, they were joined by holograms of Luminara, Windu, Yoda, and Palpatine.
"Our ships are in position and we are ready to begin our campaign against the Geonosians," Obi-Wan explains.
"What about Poggle? Any word on his location?" Mace asks as they bring up a hologram of the factory protected by a shield generator.
"It seems he's holed up at the primary droid foundry here. The factory is protected by a shield generator. Anakin, Ki-Adi, and I shall attempt a three-pronged attack through their defense lines to a staging area just short of the shield. Once we've landed, we shall knock out the shield generator. That is our primary target." Obi-Wan explains.
"Isn't it risky committing three generals to one area of the attack? If something went wrong, we could be dealt a serious blow." Palpatine said concerned.
"To ensure that rise again Geonosis does not capture Poggle we must," Yoda said.
"Of course. As always, I shall leave the strategy to you, Master Jedi." Palpatine smiles looking at the Jedi in front of him.
"Our thanks, Chancellor," Obi-Wan said.
"May the Force be with you," Mace said ending the transmission.
Entering the room, Rex, Cody, and Hunter approach them.
"Good. Cody, these are the coordinates for the rendezvous." Obi-Wan said showing him the map.
"Yes, sir, when we hit the ground, we'll create a perimeter there. Getting past their defenses here will be the trick. General Mundi will come across the defensive lines from the north. We will make our assault through the middle. General Skywalker will make his attack on the defensive lines from the south, and we'll meet at the rendezvous point at 0700 exactly." Cody said explaining the plan.
"If we meet with strong resistance and are forced down away from the landing zone, hold out until we join our forces before attacking the shield generator." Ki Adi Mundi suggests.
"I don't know. My squad's dealt with worse." Hunter smirks crossing his arms.
"I don't know Hunter. Their frontlines are heavily fortified. Look at that giant wall with all the gun emplacements. That won't be easy to get past." Ahsoka points out.
"Don't worry. We're not going anywhere near that." Anakin assures.
"Come, now. What happened to all the enthusiasm I saw earlier?" Obi-Wan asks.
"Don't worry about us. You just make sure you and Shun get yourselves to that landing zone in one piece." Anakin said.
"Well do us all a favor and try not to keep us waiting." Shun smirks.
"Gentlemen, if you are quite finished, we have a battle to begin," Luminara said.
"Quite right. Cody prep the guns and meet us in the hangar." Obi-Wan orders.
"Hey Hunter," Shun calls out getting his attention. "Give this message to the others. If even one of you gets taken down by droids or a bunch of bugs I will never let the rest of you live it down."
Smirking Hunter looks at him. "Never gonna happen." He said before walking out.
"What was that about?" Anakin asks.
"You have your ways to motivate your troops. I have mine." Shun states.
Down in the hangars, as all the ships were leaving for battle, we saw Obi-Wan walking with Shun, Cody, Wrecker, and Hunter.
"No Shun none of us were involved in the first battle of Geonosis." Cody shook his head.
"Nope, we weren't even made yet," Hunter said.
"Well, none of you missed much. Last time I was chained to a pole and attacked by several humongous monsters." Obi-Wan said.
"Sounds like a party." Wrecker smiles at the idea.
"It was…for the Geonosians at least," Obi-Wan said when Shun heard a nearby yelping.
Looking over he saw Haya being led to the ships with Anakin, Ahsoka, and Tech.
"Hey Shun a little help here," Ahsoka calls out as he walks over.
"Easy. Girl easy." Shun assures.
"Why do we have to ride down with your Varractyl?" Anakin asks.
"Not enough room in our ship." Shun shrugs.
"Plus with its rocky terrain and structures, the environment of Geonosis is the ideal battlefield for a creature of Haya's capabilities and could greatly benefit us," Tech said.
"See? So suck it up it's only for a few minute ride." Shun said.
"Fine," Anakin said getting in.
"Hey, good luck out there," Ahsoka said.
"You too," Shun said as he turned to meet with Obi-Wan.
Once Shun got on the ship the doors closed signaling their group was going in first.
Descending onto the planet, the Geonosians fired their cannons hoping to blast them out of the sky.
Retaliating the Republic ships fired back but needless to say, that made the riders inside experience a bumpy ride.
Next to them one of the ships carrying the tanks exploded as it was shot down.
"Hang tight everyone. We're almost there." Obi-Wan said as Shun, Wrecker, and Hunter braced themselves.
Back on the Cruiser, Anakin and Ahsoka joined Tech on their ships.
"We all ready Rex?" Anakin asks.
"Yep, and our big fella is secure." Rex nods hinting at Haya.
"General Kenobi and Shun are already on the way," Tech informs.
"Well, they got a head start. We'll have to catch up." Anakin smirks as their ships fly out.
Finally, we see Crosshair forced to join Ki Adi Mundi in his squad.
"Good luck General." Admiral Yularen said.
"There is no such thing as luck." Ki Adi Mundi said boarding the ship and they descended.
As the three squads flew in the Geonosian ships flew out and attacked them.
"Good thing those bugs can't aim." A Clone said just seconds before his ship was hit causing it to crash and explode.
With the ship containing Anakin, Ahsoka, Haya, Rex, and Tech flew in it was suddenly hit in the back engine causing them to descend.
Pulling up the pilot tried to steady it, but that didn't help.
Crashing to the ground Haya was the first to shake off the pain and rammed against the wall making a big enough hole for them all to get through.
"I'm starting to see the appeal of having you around," Anakin said being the first to follow. "Come on! We have to keep moving!"
Racing out of the ship, they were immediately met with fire, not just from some Geonosians on the ground but also from ones stationed in a nearby tower.
Drawing their lightsabers, Anakin and Ahsoka deflected the fire while Tech, Rex, and several other clones returned fire.
Charging through the fire, Anakin deflects all the shots fired at him before swinging his lightsaber decapitating some Geonosians.
Yelping Haya raced through the sand with ease before leaping and smashing a Geonosian under her claws.
"Good girl." Ahsoka smiles before looking at the clones. "They're falling back. Come on."
Up above, we see Ki Adi Mundi's ship under heavy fire.
"Get the tanks on the ground now!" He orders just as they get hit taking out their gunner.
"Yes sir." A clone said getting the message to Cody. "Cody get the tanks on the ground! Come in Cody!"
"Out of my way," Crosshair said shoving his way to the ladder where the gunner used to be he climbed up to get a better view of things.
Looking ahead he saw the tanks begin to land but once the troopers ran to get into them the Geonosians immediately swarmed them and destroyed quite a few tanks before hitting Obi-Wan's ship.
Inside Shun was struggling to hang on.
"Brace yourselves!" Obi-Wan yells as they crash-landed.
Before Crosshair could even react he noticed several ships heading right for them.
"You might want to brace yourselves," Crosshair warns jumping down just as they were hit causing their ship to plummet as well.
After their crash landing, we see Ki Adi Mundi being helped out of the wreckage by a clone while Crosshair knocks some dirt out of his helmet.
"What are our losses, Captain?" Ki Adi Mundi asks.
"We got hit pretty hard. I think only Kenobi's forces made it through the flak to the landing zone." Commander Jet said.
"And what about Skywalker?" Ki Adi Mundi asks.
"Captain Rex reported they're still in the middle of a firefight. Skywalker's tanks are gone and they're trying to contact General Kenobi's forces for support. In the meantime, they'll press on to the rendezvous point." Jet said.
"Very well, load the injured onto the tanks. We need to find the best way to regroup." Ki Adi Mundi said.
"Then I would suggest that path." Stepping forward Crosshair pointed to a ridge up ahead. "I saw Skywalker's ship crash near that area, it's also the fastest way to meet up with the others."
"Are you sure that's the best way?" Jet asks.
"Only if you want to make sure everyone's alive by the time we get there," Crosshair said walking in that direction.
"Then we better move." Ki Adi Mundi said following him with the other clones right behind them.
With Anakin's group, the Geonosians were on the attack as Anakin, Ahsoka, Rex, and Tech were trying to fight back.
Running behind some rubble, Rex answers a message.
"Okay Cody, I'll speak with General Skywalker," Rex said as Anakin backed up.
"What's the word Rex? Can Obi-Wan send support or not?" Anakin asks.
"I don't think so, sir. Cody says General Kenobi never reached the landing site. They think his gunship got shot down." Rex informs.
"What?!" Ahsoka gasps overhearing that.
"Great. The one time I actually ask Obi-Wan for help and he's nowhere to be found." Anakin growls more frustrated than worried.
"Well, what if something happened to Shun and General Kenobi? They could be injured or—" Ahsoka starts.
"No time for that talk. Rex, we need to mobilize and get the men ready. Tech get someone on that Varactyl. We're gonna rush the guns." Anakin orders.
"Yes sir." Both clones said running off.
"Ahsoka you're with me. We need to give them cover." Anakin said.
"Got it. Just give me the word." Ahsoka said still worried about Shun.
"Hey, I'm worried about them, too, but you have to keep your mind in the here and now, otherwise we'll never be able to help Obi-Wan and Shun," Anakin said.
Nearby Tech slowly approaches Haya.
"Easy girl listen closely," Tech said holding his hands up. "You have to trust us, if you don't we might never get to Shun and he needs our help."
Hearing this Haya hated the idea of her rider being in trouble. Lowering her body she allows Tech to climb on and have his blasters ready.
"Perfect," Tech said as Rex and his men joined them.
"All here, sir," Rex said.
"Ready…now!" Igniting his lightsaber he and Ahsoka led the charge with the clones and varactyl right behind them ready to tear those bugs apart.
Finally, at the landing site, we see Cody and his men looking at the remains of Obi-Wan's ship when they notice the bugs splitting off from it.
"Not good," Cody said as two clones ran up.
"Waxer, reporting as ordered sir."
"Boil, reporting as ordered sir."
"We've got a downed gunship five clicks east. We believe it's General Kenobi's. I need you to get out there and check for survivors. The bugs are splitting off so we need to move fast." Cody said.
"Yes sir." Both clones said before running to the ship.
As the clones tried to keep the Geonosians away several shots were fired from an unknown source taking them out and allowing the two clones to arrive at the ship unharmed.
"Why do we always get the fun jobs?" Boil asks.
"Oh, this isn't the fun part. Getting back to the square is the fun part." Waxer said as they ripped the wall panel off revealing an injured Obi-Wan and a clone who was relieved to see them.
"Waxer, Boil. Am I glad to see you? Trapper, Wrecker, Hunter, Shun and I are the only ones still alive." Obi-Wan informs as they help the two of them up.
"Good to see you, sir. Commander Cody has established the square just beyond this position. The bugs are on the move and trying to surround us as we speak." Waxer said.
"Wait, where's Shun?" Boil asks.
"I don't see him. And where are the members of Clone Force 99?" Waxer asks.
"Oh, they didn't take getting shot down well," Obi-Wan smirks getting their attention. "Why do you think getting to us was so easy?"
Just outside the ship, the Geonosians were approaching them when suddenly they heard a loud rumbling noise much to their confusion.
Seconds later, Shun burst out of the ground before slamming down creating a giant rock wave sending all the Genossians flying.
Coming out of hiding several shots were fired hitting the Geonosians that he launched causing them to fall to the ground dead.
From the dust, we zoom in on Shun who had several dirt stains on his clothes, a couple of bruises, and a seriously pissed-off expression on his face.
"Alright, you stupid overgrown bugs! You wanna mess with me?! Well you got my attention now! Let's go!" Shun snaps shooting fire at a tower causing it to explode into flames.
Jumping down from the wreckage of a tank we see Hunter and Wrecker a little shaken up but still standing.
"You shot down the wrong ship." Wrecker said shooting down several droids.
Turning around Hunter saw Obi-Wan being carried away.
"Shun! They got the General! Let's fall back and give them some cover!" Hunter calls out.
Nodding Shun turns to the wrecked tank. Using his metalbending, he hurls the crushed remains at the Geonosians causing them to scatter.
"Come on!" Shun said igniting his lightsaber to deflect fire as they sprinted back to them.
Regrouping with Cody, they placed Obi-Wan down near some crates.
"Master, are you okay?" Shun asks.
"Nothing too serious. Did you three enjoy your little venting back there?" Obi-Wan asks as they inject him with a med pack.
"I feel a little better." Shun smirks.
"I had a blast." Wrecker chuckles.
"What's our situation?" Obi-Wan asks.
"Two generals on the ground beyond our position. And a mess of bugs surrounding us. The enemy was more than prepared for our attack, sir. They knew our every move." Cody informs.
"Well, I'm sure General Skywalker and General Mundi Will make it to our position. We just have to make sure we're still here when they arrive." Obi-Wan said as Shun got a med pack too.
"I got this Master," Shun said shaking it off.
Turning around towards the battle, Shun thrusts his hands forward and uses his earthbending to make a large wall in front of their forces preventing to Geonosians from getting any closer.
"That should buy us some time." Shun chuckles.
"It's moments like this that make me glad I voted to keep you around." Obi-Wan chuckles as he takes Shun's canteen from him. "Cody, do you mind?"
"Of course." Giving Obi-Wan his canteen, he refills Shun's.
"This could mean the difference between life and death right now. Try to ration as much as you can for healing." Obi-Wan said.
"You got it, Master." Shun nods in understanding. "Hunter, Wrecker up for a little more payback?"
"Absolutely." Hunter nods as Wrecker pounds his fists together.
With Ki Adi Mundi's group, we see the general trying to cut a path clear for them to get through while the injured clones are on the back of the tank. On a nearby ridge, Crosshair was keeping a watch for anything.
"Negative, Captain. We will be unable to provide any air support at this time." Yularen said communicating with Commander Jet.
"I understand that sir, but we have three attack forces on the ground and only one at the landing zone." Jet informs.
"This is a planetary-wide invasion, Captain. If I divert resources to your position, it will mean sacrificing other areas of the campaign. All we can do at this time is help you find General Skywalker." Yularen offers.
"All right, sir. I'll report to the general. Commander Jet out." He said hanging up.
While Yularen couldn't spare any big ships they tried finding any spare fighters they had available and located Anakin's group near the fortress wall that they had spotted on the map before this whole mess began.
Zooming in on the map, we see Anakin's group looking up at the said wall to see Battle Droids and Super Battle droids along the top and shooting at them.
"Spread out!" Tech said as they split up to dodge fire. Two soldiers however got shot and killed by this ambush.
Running behind some cover, Tech jumped off Haya and joined Anakin, Ahsoka, and Rex.
"Well, this is another fine mess you've gotten us into." Ahsoka blames looking at her master.
"What? Hey, it's not my fault! You were supposed to study the holomaps!" Anakin counters.
"I did! Remember when I reminded you about the giant wall, and you said, Don't worry, Snips, we won't be anywhere near that?" Ahsoka recalls.
"Just get ready to climb," Anakin said annoyed.
Back with Ki Adi Mundi, the group was climbing up the ledge when Commander Jet joined them.
"General, I left a squad to protect the tank. Are you sure this is the shortest way to the landing zone?" Jet asked as they stopped in front of a small cavern.
"No, I'm not sure, Commander. All I can do is trust my instincts." Igniting his lightsaber, Ki Adi Mundi walks in first with the other clones right behind him.
As he follows, Crosshair suddenly stops. "Something else is in this cave." Hearing this all the clones stopped to listen for anything.
Suddenly from the ceiling Geonosians came flying in and attacked the clones.
Aiming his rifle, Crosshair shot them all dead.
"No time to fall back. Push forward!" Ki Adi Mundi orders as all the clones charge through the cave shooting all the Geonosians. While all the clones were determined to fight through to follow the general, Crosshair had other motives.
'No way am I giving that kid the satisfaction of mocking us over this.' Crosshair thought remembering the message Shun gave Hunter.
At the wall, we see Anakin and Ahsoka putting on packs.
"So what's the plan, General?" Rex asks.
"Just give us cover Rex, there's too many of us to make the climb and Haya sticks out like a sore thumb. Ahsoka and I will handle this. Just be ready when that wall comes down." Anakin warns as Tech shows them the components of the wall.
"There are two hatches located somewhere atop that wall. Find them and put the charges inside. If you do the explosion should be enough to bring it down." Tech said.
"Thanks Tech." Ahsoka nods.
"Let's go!" Anakin said as the two raced across the wall narrowly avoiding fire.
Arriving at the cliffs, they fired grapple cables that shot up allowing them to climb up with ease.
Below them, Haya narrowed her eyes before glancing at the nearby cliffs and the wall.
All over Geonosis, the battles were getting intense.
Inside the cave, Ki Adi Mundi, Crosshair, and the others were trying to fight off the Geonosians as they fired back at them while some flew in and grabbed clones flying off with them.
Growling in anger, Crosshair fired an upward shot causing stalagmites to come down on the Geonosians forcing them to scatter.
At the landing zone, we see Shun swing his arms creating a powerful sandstorm blowing away the Geonosians who were trying to fly in away.
As a Geonosian Ship flew in and fired at him, Shun was forced to fall back.
Charging forward Wrecker ran to meet him.
"Wrecker! Now!" Using his Earthbending Shun launched Wrecker up into the air allowing him to grab onto the front of the ship surprising the bug piloting it.
"Don't mind me! Just wanted to give you something." Ripping open a hole Wrecker drops a thermal detonator inside before letting go.
Panicking the Geonosian tried to get rid of it but exploded with his ship.
As Wrecker plummeted to the ground Shun caught him with the Force.
"How's the wall holding Hunter?" Shun asks into his commlink.
"They're trying to get through but it's holding for now. Any word on reinforcements?" Hunter asks shooting some Battle droids.
"Nothing yet. Just keep knocking heads." Shun said igniting his lightsaber and deflecting fire.
Looking around he saw that besides his earth wall circle, they had made a second wall out of their ships and tanks hoping to keep the enemy at bay. But no matter how they looked at it, they needed those reinforcements.
Back with Anakin's group, we see Anakin and Ahsoka had scaled the wall and were deflecting shots fired with their lightsabers.
"How many droids have you shot down so far?" Anakin asks.
"25," Ahsoka answers.
"Ah, you're falling behind." Anakin mocks shooting fire down causing some droids to explode.
"Hey, you didn't say we were using bending." Ahsoka glares.
"Never said we weren't. Let's go." Anakin smirked as they jumped onto the bridge.
Thrusting her hand forward, Ahsoka made a powerful gust of wind blowing several droids off the wall and sending them crashing to the ground.
"Bet that ties up the game," Ahsoka smirked but Anakin seemed to ignore that statement.
"Look for a hatch. We need to put them inside the wall." Anakin said as she ran along it.
Looking around she saw a hidden hatch open up.
"Found one." However just as she was about to put one in a Droideka appeared out of it.
As it fired at Ahsoka, Anakin ran to help unaware of a second Droideka popping up behind him.
Using their lightsabers the two Jedi deflected their attacks but the two droids were relentless.
Behind one, Ahsoka's eyes widened seeing Haya had scaled the opposite cliffs before slowly creeping through the ray shield.
Yelping loudly she bit the head of the droid and ripped it off allowing Ahsoka to slash it.
Seeing one was down, Anakin deactivated his lightsaber and slid under the droid before reactivating it and slashing the droid in half.
"Good girl." Ahsoka smiles petting Haya on the head making her yelp happily.
"You really are Shun's animal. You suck at listening just like him." Anakin smirks amused.
Below them, the hatch opens revealing a droid.
"Hey did you get them?" The droid asks as Anakin takes off his bag.
"Catch," Anakin said tossing it at him.
"Wha?" Before the droid could reach, Anakin Force Pushed it down allowing Ahsoka to throw her bag in there too.
"Alright Haya time to get us out of here," Anakin said as he and Ahsoka hopped on her back.
Jumping off Haya ran down the cliff just as the wall exploded into rubble.
Landing on the ground, the clones look to see the big obstacle was cleared.
"Come on, we can't them waiting much longer," Anakin said as they picked themselves up and ran through the giant hole they made.
"You heard them, lads! Let's go!" Rex orders.
Up ahead in the cavern, we see Ki Adi Mundi's squad fighting their way through to the exit to the point where they could see light at the other end.
"We're almost through! Bring in the Flamethrowers!" Ki Adi Mundi orders.
Making their way forward several Troopers ignited the flamethrowers burning several Geonosians.
Down below them, Anakin's group saw the flames from the cave.
"Look what's that?" Ahsoka points as they braced themselves for battle.
But to their surprise, Ki Adi Mundi, Crosshair, and the clones emerged from the cavern having won their battle.
"Master Mundi, do you read me?" Anakin said into his commlink.
"We're here, Skywalker. We took a slight detour that put us out of communications for a bit." Ki Adi Mundi answers.
"This has been a day for detours, Master." Anakin replies.
"Indeed, but now the road is clear." Ki Adi Mundi said before looking in the direction of the landing zone. "I can see the landing zone. It does not look good."
"Then we better move." Ahsoka said determined.
"Can you get me Admiral Yularen?" Anakin asks.
Fortunately, when Anakin called him, the Admiral had a squad of fighters available.
At the Landing Zone, Shun's earth wall was destroyed allowing the enemy to advance.
"Troopers fall back to the inner wall!" Shun orders as the clones retreat.
As a tank came in Shun shot a fireball down its cannon making it explode. Switching to Earthbending, he knocks a tank off balance causing it to collapse on its side and crush several droids under it.
Panting heavily, Shun was starting to get tired from all this fighting.
"Come on Shun," Hunter said grabbing his arm and pulling back
Jumping through the inner wall, Shun stood alongside Obi-Wan.
"You've done well keeping them at bay my Padawan," Obi-Wan said patting him on the back.
"I am not dying here, Master," Shun said catching his breath.
"I don't plan on it either," Obi-Wan said igniting his saber.
As Wrecker came out of some wreckage he looked to see both Anakin and Ki Adi Mundi's group joining them.
"The calvary has arrived!" Wrecker declares making all the clones cheer.
"It's about freaking time." Hunter grins.
Joining him and Wrecker we see Tech and Crosshair catch up.
"What took you guys so long?" Wrecker asks.
"Sorry got held up. Had to blow up a giant wall filled with battle droids," Tech said.
"Set an entire cave full of Geonosians on fire," Crosshair said.
"Aw man, those sound fun." Wrecker whines.
"Oh thank the spirits," Shun said deactivating his lightsaber.
"Shun!" Turning around Shun saw Ahsoka's smiling face relieved to see he was okay.
"What happened to you two?" Anakin asks.
"I could ask you the same thing," Obi-Wan said as Ki Adi Mundi and Haya joined them.
"Took you guys long enough. We had to do all the heavy lifting ourselves." Shun said.
"Well if we can finish the job you'll be able to rest," Anakin said.
After they pushed the enemy back enough, Obi-Wan showed them a holographic map of the generator.
"Our combined forces should be enough to destroy the shield generator. Anakin, you'll need to take a small squad through the shield, as close as you can get to their gun emplacements. From there, you'll be able to temporarily jam their scanners so they are unable to target the incoming tanks. Once the tanks knock out the shield, Master Mundi can bring the rest of the troops in with the gunships." Obi-Wan explains.
"Consider it done Master." Anakin nods.
With their full forces together, they began their attack.
Rushing through the shield, Anakin led his squad with Rex, Shun, Ahsoka, Wrecker Hunter, Tech, Crosshair, and other clones on the attack.
As the droids and Geonosians tried to stop them the three Jedi deflected everything they threw at them.
Coming to a stop at the base of the generator they saw several tanks aimed down at them.
"Let's jam their scanners," Anakin said handing Shun and Ahsoka droid poppers. "Ready? Go!"
All three Jedi threw their jammers at the tanks' feet causing them all to get fried and shut down.
"Looks like it's working," Ahsoka said.
"Guys shoot down any stragglers." Shun orders as the clones fire at the Geonosians trying to fight back.
"That won't last for long," Anakin said activating his commlink. "Bring in the tanks!"
As the tanks made their way through they fired taking out the enemy forces and the Shield generator causing it to explode.
With the shield gone, Ki Adi Mundi's forces joined them, and the Geonosians with no shield, tanks, or droids for backup soon surrendered.
With the battle won, Anakin helped Obi-Wan to a ship so he could get patched up.
"So Master what was your total?" Ahsoka asks.
"Not now, Ahsoka," Anakin said not wanting to do this.
"Come on. Are you afraid you lost this time?" Ahsoka teases.
"Fine. 55. That's my count. And you?" Anakin asks.
"60." Ahsoka said proudly. "Looks like I win."
"Yeah but I called in the air strike. So tie." Anakin counters.
"Come on Master Skywalker. No one likes a sore loser." Shun smirks walking over.
"You see what I have to put up with? He's impossible." Ahsoka gestures. "How many did you get?"
"58. You beat me too." Shun said before turning his attention to Obi-Wan. "You sure you don't want me to come with you, Master?"
"Your skills are much more suited here. We need that main factory destroyed. Until Master Mundi and I return, Anakin will be in charge of you." Obi-Wan said.
"Oh really?" Anakin smirks happy to hear that.
"Shun, a word." Ki Adi Mundi said getting his attention.
"Yes Master Mundi?" Shun asks walking over to him.
"I talked to Master Kenobi and several troopers. The reason they were able to hold on for so long without us was because of your help. You're quite skilled for a Padawan." Ki Adi Mundi said.
"Oh thank you." Shun smiles.
"Well that means a lot. I know you Council guys probably had me figured wrong from the beginning." Shun said.
"He voted for you from the beginning." Obi-Wan points out surprising him.
"Wait what?" Shun said not expecting this.
"Master Mundi was one of the masters along with myself who voted to keep you as part of the Order." Obi-Wan declares.
"I wasn't brought into the Order like most younglings. I too had an out-of-the-ordinary experience in my time with the Jedi and because of that, I had to work hard to get to where I am. And I recognized a similar tenacity in you so I took a chance. I'm still unsure if the choice I made was logical or not but I'm glad to see you're proving I made the right choice." Ki Adi Mundi smiles.
"Master Mundi…thanks for betting on me." Shun smiles before bowing his head in respect.
Seeing this, Obi-Wan couldn't help but smile. Shun doesn't show his respect to many but when they earn it's always a sight to see.
"You're quite welcome." Ki Adi Mundi said nodding his head in acknowledgement. Looking up he turns his attention to Anakin. "By the way. 65, Skywalker."
"Huh?" Anakin said confused.
"My total. Sixty-five. So what do I win?" Ki Adi Mundi asks.
Pausing Anakin was unsure what to say at first but as he glanced at Shun and saw how respectful he was to him and his ideals Anakin smiled.
"My everlasting respect, Master Mundi." Anakin smiles.
"Oh?" Ki Adi Mundi said not expecting this.
"That is a gift Anakin rarely bestows, I assure you." Obi-Wan points out.
As the two Jedi Masters and their squads of clones took off Shun, Anakin and Ahsoka stayed behind.
They won the first battle, but the Battle of Geonosis was far from over.
