Brittany Fabray let out a small sigh, as she closed the door to Charlie's room quietly. The youngest Fabray was either asleep or still unconscious. Personally, she was too tired to actually check. Regrowing limbs was tricky business, she had to regrow the bone, all of Charlie's rather dense muscles, the extensive network of blood vessels and the most important bit was regrowing Charlie's nerves. It was far easier to reattach limbs then it was to recreate them.

She would have to wait for Charlie to wake up before she could make sure that the limb was working properly, which meant she would definitely need an extension on her—

"Britt! Is she okay?"

Brittany blinked and looked down the steps to see that the entire family was gathered at the foot of the steps. She was actually grateful that no one had barged in on her, "I regrew the limb no problem, and since this wasn't a sterile environment, I boosted her natural regenerative abilities for now. She'll probably have a fever for a few days, and I do need to make sure that Charlie's brain and her new limb are working correctly. But she's alive, pretty sure she's asleep. I'm certain I heard her snoring." Brittany said in a cheerful tone. She nearly gets bowled over by Quinn who wraps her in a bone crushing hug.

"Thank you," Quinn breathes. "Thank you," tears were forming in her eyes.

Brittany pats Quinn on the head, "I also got rid of her blue hair, she might be annoyed about that but it was ugly. Really we should do something about that pink, you should have gone to a proper salon, instead of attempting to do it yourself." Brittany says touching Quinn's head and getting rid of the ugly color. "Now does anyone want to tell me how Chuck ended up with her arm like that? I didn't actually read all your messages and text messages, Frannie just opened up a portal and here I am. Also mom, I'm super hungry—"

"Of course, I'll whip something up," Judy said as she wiped her eyes, and pulled away from her soon to be ex-husband. The anxiety that she had felt as she watched her most durable daughter drop, dissipating. "Something with bacon in it?"

"Please?" Brittany grinned at her mom. "Also since I'm here, can you make something for me to take back to my dorm room? The food is shit."

Judy nodded, "Do you know when Charlie is going to wake up? I should get her favorite food ready."

"The moment she smells bacon," Brittany said with a shrug. "So what happened."

Quinn looked away, the guilt was still eating at her. If they didn't have Brittany— "I got so angry—and I lost control. I think—I was going to kill him. Rod, I was going to kill him and Charlie stopped me. But I froze her arm solid and Rod must have freaked out and used his abilities which caused the arm to shatter, I didn't—it was an accident."

"Hurting Charlie may have been an accident, but you wanting to hurt Rod Remmington wasn't," Russell spoke up, causing Quinn to turn to him angrily. He felt the chill in the air, and immediately took a step back.

Lawrence immediately took a step in front of Russell to calm Quinn down, "When was the last time you did the exercises I gave you to do?" He questioned and when Quinn looked away he sighed. "Well, then come along Quinn, we've got work to do."

Quinn flicked her eyes at her father before turning back to her grandfather and nodding. She had lost control and it could have been a lot of worse if Charlie hadn't intervened. Without saying anything to her father she brushes past him and follows her grandfather out the door.

Brittany blinked and looked at her father before looking at her grandmother, who immediately opened her arms for her. She jumps from the top step and giggles as she floats down. They used to do this all the time when she was a child and it filled her with warmth as she wraps her arms around her grandmother. Before turning to her father who flashed her a weak smile. She studies him for a moment before shaking her head. "Your shirt is super ugly dad."

Artemis chuckled as Russell turned a bright red. "Your sister might have mentioned that. I think I need to talk to Quinn—I think she's still mad at me."

"She's furious," Both Artemis and Brittany said at the same time. Brittany flashes a smile at her grandmother.

"But you need to give her time, or at least wait until Quinn's abilities are under control again," Brittany adds, before stretching, she really just wanted to get some food, check on Charlie and then get some sleep.

"How are your classes going Brittany?" Artemis asked as she pulled her granddaughter towards the kitchen, leaving Russell standing there. It was her way of letting him know politely that it was time for him to go home.

Brittany shot a look at her father and shrugged her shoulders. "Good, I mean I just had midterms and that was a pain but Mike and I—"

"Mike?" Artemis questions watching as Brittany suddenly blushes. "I think I'd rather hear about this Mike."

"There's nothing to tell, I promise! He's just my next door neighbor. He's in the computer science program. But we both take a dance class together and he's my partner, and he's a really good dancer," Brittany admits flushing a bit. "Nothing is going to happen, he has a girlfriend back home."

"But you like him," Artemis surmises.

"Grandma!"

Artemis laughs, "I suppose you'll just have to be patient. Is he an AI?"

"Yes, he can talk to animals." Brittany admits. It was only a level 1 ability, but she knew that her grandmother would support the relationship no matter what. "And he's also super hot. I have pictures," Brittany said, reaching for her phone. "A lot of pictures."

Russell watched his daughter and looked up the stairs, maybe it was time for him to go back home. But he wanted to check to make sure Charlie was okay. Charlie seemed to be the only one of his children who wasn't actively angry with him for cheating on Judy.

"I'm not sure if it's incompetence, simply bad management on your part, or outright fraud, but it seems that my initial assessment was correct. McKinley doesn't have any true level 4s. It makes sense, I did some digging and took a look at the records that you have in the Inter-high events and I can see why McKinley has come last every single year." Lawrence flipped through the results of all the students that had retested that were in McKinley's Hero course. "Your only shining star in the entire class is Santana Lopez, and there are behavioral problems there that needed to be addressed."

Figgins dabbed the sweat on his forehead, "What are you implying?"

"I'm not implying anything," Lawrence said. "I'm telling you that Charlie and Quinn won't be competing in any Inter-high events. Quinn's abilities are too unstable at this moment, and Charlie—" Lawrence frowned ever so slightly, his granddaughter was currently still sleeping. It had been a week, and it was clear that Charlie was currently fighting off an infection. "Well, that would simply be unfair."

Figgins swallowed, that was not what he had wanted to hear. He had hoped that with two level fives the schools fortunes would change. "I don't believe that is the right decision. Their mother insisted that they be treated like every other normal student, and while I understand your concern about Quinn, and it's a sentiment I share—Charlie attended a few of the classes before her injury. Even with her gruesome injury she will still be a welcome—"

"Very well, I'll let Charlie decide what she wants to do," Lawrence said. Charlie certainly hadn't committed to their hero program, though that might change when he discussed the next order of business. "I've decided that I'm not going to take the position that you offered me. My grandchildren would be irate if I got involved in their social lives, and I've found some promising students that have been looked over due to your negligence, and I would rather offer one on one sessions so that they may reach their goals."

Confusion crossed Figgins face, that wasn't the news that he had expected at all "The governor and the superintendent informed me—"

"That you would be getting a new teacher for your hero course." Lawrence interrupted. "You will be. It simply won't be me. Since it's clear that the current teacher, this Schuester person, can't cultivate talent, the governor asked me to hand pick someone that can whip this school into shape. Which is why Shanon Beiste will be taking the position." Lawrence said as he stood up, and moved to the door opening it so that Shannon Beiste could step inside.

Figgins nearly fell out of his seat, when he saw her. "When you said Beiste I didn't think you meant—" Figgins immediately looked over at Shannon Beiste, "It is an honor to have you here, Beiste."

Shannon grunted and turned to Lawrence. "You know Lawrence, once I start you can't stick your nose in if your daughters want to learn from me."

"I won't stick my nose into it if you don't teach them your bad habits," Lawrence responded with a laugh as he pats Shannon on the shoulder. He's about to leave the office so that Shannon and Figgins could discuss the plans moving forward when he stops. "Oh, and about that student that I mentioned?"

Shannon nodded, "Consider it done, even if I think you're being a bit heavy handed here."

"You'll thank me later," Lawrence responded, with a pleased smile on his face.

"You couldn't convince Brittany to turn my hair back?" Charlie groaned as she touched her blonde locks with her recently grown limb. "People are staring."

Quinn flicked her eyes around them and winces at the wide berth that they were receiving. They were scared of her and she couldn't really blame them. "People, remember your arm being shattered like a pane of glass. They're probably confused as to the fact that it doesn't look like you're missing a limb."

Charlie sighs and shrugs her shoulders, "There are level 4 healers that can regrow limbs."

"True," Quinn shrugged as they came to their lockers. She's about to say something else when the crowd of students parts like the red sea.

"You," Santana snarled, her body erupting into flames causing several students to flee in terror. "You did this."

"Is she talking to you or me?" Charlie asked Quinn.

"She's your nemesis," Quinn reminds Charlie, with a shrug of her shoulders.

"Don't be silly Quinn, my nemesis is asparagus," Charlie said, choosing to simply ignore Santana. Hopefully she would get the hint and leave her alone.

"I'm talking to you Gimpy Smurffete."

Charlie sighed, and turned around so she could face Santana. "Smurfette doesn't have a—"

"I got kicked out of the Hero Course because of you," Santana said, stabbing her finger into Charlie's chest. "Your grandpa trying to protect you from me kicking your ass?"

"What are you talking about Santana?" Charlie asked with a sigh, rubbing her chest. Santana had burned a hole through her favorite shirt.

"As if you don't know. I got kicked out of the hero course because of you. Your grandfather chose the new hire, and the first thing she does is boot me. Like hell that is a coincidence."

Charlie poked a finger through the hole in her shirt, "So, go find my grandfather and kick his ass. I don't really see what any of this has to do with me."

"Oh bullshit," Santana said shoving Charlie. "He chooses to teach Rachel over me? The moment we get a new teacher I get booted from the class. The old man clearly has fucking dementia, and you don't seem to care that he's practically dribbling with senility."

Charlie raised her right hand and flicked Santana in the forehead, charging her fingers so it hurt just a little bit more. "Despite what you might believe Santana, I don't hate you. I don't really spend any time thinking about you. So tell me what I have to do for you to leave me alone?"

Santana bristled, "Ever since the two of you came here, everyone has been kissing your skinny asses—"

"My ass is very grabbable," Charlie insists, offended at Santana's characterization of her ass. "Look, Santana. If you want to fight me again, we can but after this we're done understand? I just missed two weeks of class and I imagine, I have a lot of things that I need to catch up on. I don't actually have the time to entertain you."

Santana inhaled sharply, before glancing around the hallway, there were so many people who wished to see her fail. "Fine after school today, but don't you dare hold back. I'm going to show these losers that I can hang with the best."

Charlie watched Santana leave before turning to glance at her ass once again, "I do have a very grabbable ass right Quinn?"

Quinn rolled her eyes, "She's obsessed with you."

Charlie turns to look at Santana's retreating figure for a moment, and shrugs her shoulders. "I mean, if you had kicked her ass she'd probably be obsessed with you as well. But—she's not exactly wrong, this does have Gramp's fingers all over it. What's that thing he always says?"

"Gramps has a lot of sayings," Quinn reminds Charlie. "We could write a book with all his weird sayings."

Charlie snorts and continues to watch Santana, "When we hit our lowest points, we are open to the greatest change." Charlie blinked and looked at Quinn. "I don't know why he's using me though."

"He probably has extremely high hopes for her," Quinn said with a shrug of her shoulders. "And you're better at helping people up than I am."

Charlie studies Santana once more before shrugging her shoulders. This was probably one of her grandfather's weird tests for her.
