Greetings my fellow FanFiction Reader and Writers! I'm doing something new here that I have never attempted before: I am taking a plunge into the deep-end and going to try my hand at writing my very own and very first ATLA FanFic. But before I get started with this new story: I have a few things to say first.

1st off: I mean no disrespect by what I'm about to say, but this is not a Kataang story. I repeat this is NOT aKataang FanFic.

2nd thing: I would love to have some feedback on this fic as I go. Depending on how well this first chapter turns out, I might need some ideas as the story progresses.

And finally, the 3rd thing I have to say is: I hope you enjoy this story I'm writing. Let's see what my crazy dreams have got me into this time lol. Anyways, with all of that out of the way, I hope you enjoy reading this story. Now, without further ado, let's take flight.

oOo

The school day had just ended and Aang was trying to slip out quietly without being noticed. The Avatar in disguise looked down at Momo in his jacket. "We made it through the day, Momo... and it was pretty fun." Aang told his little furry friend as the lemur peeked his head out of the boy's tunic.

"Don't let the headmaster catch you with that monkey." Came a sudden voice from behind him.

The Avatar in disguise froze and his eyes grew wide. He spun around quickly and gave the newcomer a nervous grin.

"What monkey?" He asked a bit to quickly., chuckling and rubbing the back of his neck with a sheepish smile forming on his face.

"Don't worry, I'm not a tattletale." The girl smiled kindly and the airbender could tell that she was telling the truth.

The girl's smile seemed to grow as she continued speaking. "My name's On Ji." She introduced herself to Aang, who could only nod his head in response. "I like your headband, by the way."

Aang had just opened his mouth to start saying something when he was not-so-nicely shoved aside by a much-older and sorta tallish-looking boy.

He scowled slightly at Aang while casually draping one arm over the brunette's shoulder. "On Ji, you don't have to baby-sit the new kid."

"Wow," Aang said, bowing like On Ji had showed him earlier. "You must be one of those popular kids I've been hearing about."

He smirked rudely. "That's right. Now listen friend: I know you're from the colonies so I'll say this slowly. On Ji. Is. My Girlfriend. Don't forget it."

Momo moved around in Aang's jacket and he gave the Avatar a weird look. Aang smiled awkwardly and laughed it off. He just hoped to the spirits that he didn't see Momo.

Aang wasn't sure if it was just his eyes playing tricks or something like that, but when he looked over at On Ji, he caught a flash of smithing on her face as she begrudgingly let her boyfriend drape one of his arms over her shoulders.

After a few more moments of fence silence, the older boy said one last thing to Aang before walking away with On Ji. "You'd better stay away from my girlfriend, you got that colony trash?" He scowled darkly and snarled the last part while pointing an accusatory finger at the 12-year-old airbender.

Aang just nodded his head in response while crossing his arms over his chest. "Yeah sure, I'll do whatever you say Mr. Snarky Pants." He bowed mockingly and gave the older boy a cheeky grin as he and On Ji walked away.

"Well I guess that just happened," the young mink sighed softly to himself before preparing to leave the school courtyard. But his plans were once again halted when another kid came up to him with an impressed look on his face.

"Wow! I can't believe it: he didn't even try to fight you even once. Now that's impressive!"

Aang just chucked nervously and smiled while giving the other boy a small shrug of his shoulders. "I guess I just got lucky that time." Was all he said in response.

Neither of the two boys said anything for a short while before the green-eyed boy cleared his throat and started speaking again. "Yeah I guess you did. Anyway, we were just about to go play hide and explode, you wanna come and join us?"

The other boy's green eyes were gleaming and it silently made Aang think of his earthbending teacher and best friend, Toph.

When he said nothing in response to the question, the kid blinked and waved one of his hands in front of the Avatar's face. "Hey Kuzon, you there? Hello?"

He was abruptly knocked off of the thinking train once his mind registered the hand in front of his face and a quick and frantic call of his name that came out of the other kid's mouth.

Shaking his head to clear his thoughts away, Aang smiled sheepishly and stared down at his feet.

"Huh? Oh I-I uh, I'd love to play hide and explode with you guys!" He gave them what he hoped was a reassuring smile as he awaited to see what would happen next.
