Authoress Note: Welcome to Chapter 1 of Wings of the Fae. I want to thank those who have left reviews for this story. It truly does mean a lot to me that you guys enjoy this story. I am going to try my best with this story as well as the future chapters of this story. Since this is a Bilbo/OC, Thorin/OC, Kili/OC, and Fili/OC story. It'll take a bit of time to get going. It'll probably be one of my longer stories. Without further ado Chapter 1. ENJOY!
Chapter 1
A gray figure walked across the lands of the Winter Fae. His blue eyes twinkled under his gray hat as he made his way across the land. He had a task at hand of what he was going to do: talk to the winter fae in hopes that someone would be willing to rally together and go to Erbor to help reclaim the fallen homeland of the dwarves. He stopped outside of the ring that was covered in white covered rocks.
"Who goes there?" A female voice rang out from inside of the ring.
The man cleared his throat. "I'm Gandalf the Grey." He said smoothly knowing that the fae knew of who he was.
The woman came out standing only at 4'8 her wings materializing right behind her revealing the glittering white snow-like wings. Her white hair was pulled back into some braids keeping it off of her face with snowflake beads. Her violet-colored eyes locked onto Gandalf the gray. "Gandalf." Her voice came out very softly as she moved closer to the ring. "What brings the gray wizard to the borders of the Winter Fae?"
Gandalf's lips quirked up into a knowing smile. He knew who this fae was by how she was dressed in the finest light blue silk of the Winter Fae royalty. "Princess Win." He said, bowing his head slightly. "What brings the Princess of the Winter Fae to the border?"
Win ignored the question that came from Gandalf of wondering why she was at the borders. "There is a reason you're here." She questioned her brow raising as she looked at Gandalf. She was unsure of why he was there.
"May I speak to you and your mother?"
"Mother is away in the Summer Fae lands. What do you wish to speak of?" She questioned her brows pinching together as her hand went to the gate a glittering white light sparkled allowing Gandalf to come into the borders.
Gandalf slowly came into the lands of the Winter Fae. "A reclaim in a homeland."
Win froze for a moment, her eyes shooting up to Gandalf. "Surely you're not speaking of Erebor." She said her voice came out even softer than before. It couldn't be the reclaiming of Erebor. No one would willingly go near there when the fire dragon was still there watching over the hoard of gold that was in the glistening halls.
"Yes. I urged Thorin Oakenshield to march on the mountain."
Win's eyes went even wider in shock. A name that she had forgotten so long ago. Someone that she hadn't heard from since Thorin and his people had inhabited the Blue Mountains. She knew that this was something that she was going to have to do. "And… you're here for a reason… that reason is to…"
"Ask you to join him to march on the mountain… help him reclaim his homeland."
Her heart clenched in her chest. As much as she wanted to help, she had lost her father that day in Erebor. How was she to march on the mountain with Thorin and his company so that he would get together? "You want me to join him…"
"He hasn't forgotten your word. You promised him."
She took a breath, closing her eyes. She knew that she had made a promise. But how was she to do so? Was she ready to leave her home and go on the quest to reclaim the homeland that was something that could be folly?
He suddenly pulled out a parchment and handed it to her.
Win's hand went over the worn parchment. Her brows pinched together as she looked at the item before her. "Òraid Dhubh…" She said in her language looking it over the paper before looking up at him. "Gealladh pàighidh airson Thorin."
"You know what this means."
She swallowed the lump in her throat. "An orc army is after him."
"Perhaps more than what we think…"
"And you think reclaiming the homeland… Erebor… you think it is wise?"
Gandalf carefully took the parchment from her. "Yes." He nodded his head. He hoped that Win would join in on the quest. "I have talked to the others."
"Samhradh, Foghar, agus Earrach... bhruidhinn thu riutha? Dè thuirt iad?" She questioned looking up at him.
"They will join. They are sending one of each… They deemed it wise that they go. They want to help with reclaiming their home. What say you?"
Win stood there for a moment thinking. Did Thorin truly remember her promise to him all those years ago? Would she be able to stay true to her word and join him on the quest? Did he even remember her? Her hand went to the necklace that was around her neck that didn't match the jewels that she wore on her at the time. This was dwarven metal that she wore; something that she had gotten from Thorin when she had visited there before Smaug had taken over. She swallowed the lump in her throat knowing that she needed to make her choice right then and there. "Dè tha mi ag ràdh? Thèid mi oir tha gealladh na ghealladh."
Gandalf smiled knowing that she was keeping true to her word. "In nine months, we are to meet in the Shire."
"Shire?"
Gandalf nodded his head. "Yes, Thorin will need a burglar."
Her brows shot up her forehead in surprise. A burglar for the trip was something that she wasn't expecting.
"Look for a door with a dwarven rune on it. That will be our meeting spot."
Win nodded her head in agreement. Now how was she to tell her brother that she was leaving to help Thorin regain his homeland from Smaug? Her heart clenched in her chest at the thought of seeing Thorin again. Would he remember her? She surely wouldn't forget him, not in the least bit. She couldn't forget him. He was part of her life forever and she was going to be part of his. She released the dwarven necklace that was around her neck and knew that she had packing to do it straight away. "I will see you then Gandalf." She said softly.
Gandalf bowed his head.
"You may rest here unless you have somewhere else to be?" She questioned softly wondering if he wanted to travel away from her homeland or stay for a few days to regroup from his travels.
"Ah thank you, Princess Win. I wouldn't mind staying a few days to regroup."
Win smiled a small sad smile. "I'm sure that my brother would love to see you."
Gandalf smiled. "I am sure that he will be surprised to know that you are going to help Thorin."
"I'm sure he'll be more than surprised." She admitted softly.

Win sat in her room looking out the window, her violet eyes glistening with tears. Her mind reeled at the thought of seeing Thorin again. How was she to even talk to him when they hadn't seen each other since he had made a home in the Blue Mountains with his people? Something that she was very proud of and was happy to know that he had a home. She took a breath through her teeth as she turned away from her window and back to the items that she was packing. "Thorin, tha mi an dòchas nach do dhìochuimhnich thu mi."
There was a loud knock on her door.
"Come in." She said as she packed her rucksack not even thinking of who was at the door.
"Win, an deach thu às do chiall? A' dol a chuideachadh gus Erebor fhaighinn air ais?" Her brother's voice ran out looking at his sister like she had gone insane.
She let out a breath as she looked up at her brother. "Gealtach? Chan eil. Is e gealladh gealladh, a bhràthair. Chan urrainn dhomh a dhol air ais air mo ghealladh do Thorin."
Her brother ran his hand through his hair. "You can't be serious." He said, shaking his head. He couldn't believe that she was willing to do such a thing.
"I made a promise all those years ago."
"And you want to seal your fate like our father did?"
Win let out a breath shaking her head. "I'm not sealing my fate… my fate is in my own hands. Not with some dragon. I promise I'll be fine."
"Win…"
"You won't lose me." She said coming up to her brother and putting her hand on his cheek. She stroked his cheek softly knowing that her brother couldn't stand the fact that she was going out there to help Thorin.
"You haven't heard from him in years. How can you know that he still remembers you?"
"Thorin will remember me… it was our father that helped save him." She took a soft breath. "I'll be alright. I won't do anything stupid… but I need to do this."

This is the end of Chapter 1. I hope that you guys enjoyed this chapter. I tried to work this chapter out the best that I could. Translations are down below of what is being said in the Fae language. I decided to make Gaelic the language of the fae. Which would be fun. I hope that you guys think the language is something fun to read. I can't wait to show you guys what happens in future chapters.

Do you guys think Thorin will remember Win? And who do you think will be paired off with Bilbo, Kili, and Fili? We only have three Faes that they could be paired off with. Which are Aurora, Linetta, and Shaylee. I will reveal which fae is which. I know that you're probably curious about which court they belong to. I will reveal more about the fae lore as we get further into this story.
Yes, they do have wings. But they are only materializing when they're needed. So we have seen the Winter Fae style of wings. They are glittery snow-like wings. I can't wait to show you guys what the other Fae wings will look like. We have Summer, Autumn, and Spring wings to show.
Please leave a review and let me know what you think of this chapter. Reviews help me keep going when it comes to writing. I have a lot of plans for this story in the future. I also have a pretty good idea of where this is going to go and who will survive in the very end. I hope to have the next chapter out soon. Until next time.
