Prologue: Glimpse of the Past

As Richard was preparing to get his story right, Quency suddenly dropped down, as her attire had changed to a scarf around her neck, a black with red trim sports bra, and some black shorts and ankle high boots to complete a proper look of a Fire Emblem thief, with multiple daggers on her person and Sol Katti on her back.

"Hey Richard! Glad to have ya back, bud!" Quency greeted with a smile as she ran up to Richard.

"Yeah…" Richard remarked, before he felt slightly guilty about what he had done. "I'm glad that things went well… as well as they could."

"You still seem hung up about what happened…" Quency remarked, worried about Richard's gloom.

"Of course, it's part of the reason that Siege ended up like this." Richard answered back, before shaking his head. "But that's not the problem right now. We should start by getting the lay of the land. We'll need it, and if there's anything that needs clearing out, all the better."

"Yeah, I'm sure that we'll find something along the way!" Quency remarked, as the two of them began to traverse the entire land.

As Richard and Quency journeyed, the view panned through Siege's memories… before reaching one that was similar to the events that began this story, with slight differences. One of them being Siege himself.

The scene opened to an army of heroes charging through an army of black clad soldiers, as they were falling left and right to certain soldiers who had ethereal allies by their sides, which appeared as various heroes from the franchise, such as Ike, Micaiah, Corrin, Lucina, Roy, and a few more notable ones. But seen charging through the main front was Past Siege, looking slightly better as opposed to when he slew Mina and Jherzoruya, as this… was his first ever mission from Magina herself. He was fighting alongside an icy blue haired warrioress, with crimson eyes and holding a crimson blade, the wielder of Demonic Death, Dezna.

"The path ahead is clear!" Dezna would exclaim.

"Good. Then we can escort Alear, let's get her path clear!" Past Siege exclaimed, turning back to a certain figure. "Alear!" He exclaimed.

"I'm here!" A female royal dressed in white and blue royal armour, with a white and red cape, and having long straight hair that was alternating between red and blue, as Marth was her partner, as she cut through a enemy soldier, before reaching Siege, as the two of them rushed through, while their allies held the line to keep the enemies away from them, as they reached the door, as the hands of the four warriors touched the door, as Alear had a golden ring with a blue spherical gem on it, while Siege had a bronze ring with a light-red triangular-like diamond on it, as he and Dezna looked to Alear and Marth.

"You ready to end this for good?" Past Siege asked Alear.

"Yes, this is for everyone." Alear declared, as they both pushed the door open.

"Our final battle lies ahead." Marth declared.

"Now, it's time to engage." Dezna declared, before they entered the throne room on the other side, as what stood against them was a man with ash-grey skin, dark armour that covered his entire lower half, leaving his torso bare, and a pair of skeletal wings with long red blades, and a pair of curved spike horns beside his head, and a trio of red eyes, with the third being on his forehead.

"You've come here at last." The dark entity spoke. "You are both here, at your end. This place will be the tomb for both of you and your allies."

"Not if I have anything to say about it, Sombron. Your reign of darkness and tyranny comes to an end, here, and now. If I must, I will die before you have a chance to kill our friends!" Past Siege roared in defiance.

"And die you shall." Sombron coldly answered back. "Even with you both, and your Emblems, you have no hope of defeating me."

"I won't give up, no matter what!" Alear remarked, before she then rushed forward, as Alear wielded a sword, before landing a double-slash on Sombron, which actually knocked him back, before Sombron threw his hand up, as Alear was knocked back by a explosion of purple flames in the form of a fiery pillar.

"Your deaths are destiny. The rings are mine." Sombron declared. "And there is nothing you can do to avoid that."

"CHYA!" Siege yelled, as Sombron evaded his blow. "What…!?"

"Hah! How's that, Sombron?!" Past Siege taunted with a smirk.

"It's time, Alear! Engage!" Marth advised Alear, as Marth began to glow brightly.

"That's right! The time has come!" Alear exclaimed, before brandishing her ringed hand.

"Now… as one!" Marth declared, holding a hand out.

The two of them then clasped hands, as the gem on Alear's ring began to glow brightly.

"Emblem Engage!" Both of them declared at the same time, as a tornado of blue energy began to surround the group, as they then stood side by side, and then raising their blades, which connected with a metallic clang, as light shined from the tip, engulfing the both of them.

When the light faded, Alear was in an entirely new form, as her blade became a more ethereal version of Falchion itself, while her armor got some golden highlights, with glowing blue slots on everywhere, and a pair of crescent-shaped wings of blue energy and golden bases, formed behind Alear, as she floated in the air.

"This is your end!" Alear declared, before she then rushed forward.

Alear then unleashed a barrage of rapid slashes that ravaged Sombron's body, before she then raised her sword, and went for a horizontal slash that cut right through Sombron, defeating him.

"You have nothing to celebrate…" Sombron growled, as he collapsed, as his body began to fade into purple particles. "You are weakness itself. You will never defeat me, wretched child and arrogant mortal. I shall return…"

Sombron then fizzled away, as the fighting outside ended, as if Sombron's defeat caused the entire enemy army to collapse.

"Thanks to you, Alear and Siege…" Marth stated. "This world is saved, and my work here is complete. Know that I will always be with you, Alear. And that we will stand together again, as we did this day. If ever we cross paths again, I hope you will remember me. Indeed, that you will remember all of us who took up arms to fight by your side."

Siege merely smiled back, before the memory ended, as everything faded into light.

Siege then slowly woke up, as he found himself laid on a silken bed in the middle of a temple, as he found that Alear was lying beside him, as she woke up as well.

"Where am I…?" Alear remarked, before she then turned around to see Siege. "Siege…?"

"Wha….?" Siege asked as he looked to Alear. "...Should… should I know you-?"

"I… I feel like I do know you…" Alear remarked, placing a hand to her head. "But I can't remember much else…"

"Whoa. Tell me you're seeing this!" A boy's voice said, as Siege and Alear turned to see that there was a pair of fraternal twins with light brown hair and yellow eyes, as the male of the twin had a single braid tied with a green ribbon, dressed in a large brown robe with green sleeves, black pants, and a pair of gray boots, with a leather belt around his waist, and the female of the twin had a short pink dress with a brown plaid beret with a pink ribbon, and a similarly plaid scarf both over her neck and around her waist, and long brown boots.

"Hello there. And you are?" Alear asked the twins.

"You're really awake, yeah?" The female twin asked enthusiastically.

"You're the Divine Dragon Alear! And he's the Radiant Saviour Siege!" The male twin added with the same amount of passion.

"Uh…" Alear stated.

"...Huh…?" Siege asked.

"No way…!" The female twin exclaimed, before her brother said the same thing, before they then turned to each other, giggled with glee, before saying the same thing. "The Divine Dragon and Radiant Saviour are finally awake!"

"Calm down, calm down, you two. What's all this ruckus about?" A stern voice called out, an armored paladin of old age walking into view. "I thought I told you two- …Oh my."

"Uhm… hey?" Siege asked with a confused look.

The paladin then immediately knelt before Alear and Siege. "Divine Dragon Alear, and the Radiant Saviour, Siege! It's a miracle! An utter miracle. The Divine One, and her guardian, awake at long last! That I might live to see not one of you, but both… it is the greatest honor." He declared with joy and exaltation.

"I'm sorry uhm… Do you know what's going on, A… Alear?" Siege asked, looking to Alear.

"I'm not sure myself." Alear stated, shaking her head, before turning to the paladin. "Yeah, not to be rude, but who are you?"

"Ah! Apologies, I lost myself for a moment there." The paladin stated, regaining his composure. "My name is Vander. I am the 32nd Steward of the Dragon."

"Hello, Sir Vander." Alear answered back.

"It is a pleasure, Sir Vander." Siege also spoke.

"Oh my, Divine Ones! There is no need to address me as such. Simply Vander will do." Vander answered back.

"Alright then… Vander." Siege would say before looking at the twins.

"Can you believe it, Sir Vander! They're awake!" The female twin exclaimed.

"You two, I don't believe we got your names." Alear stated softly.

"We're the 33rd Stewards of the Dragon! My name is Clanne. Pleased to meet you." The male twin introduced himself.

"And I'm Framme! We're twins!" The female twin introduced herself after her brother. "We've been waiting forever for you both to wake up!"

"As Stewards of the Dragon, our mission is to protect and provide for you and the Radiant Saviour." Vander answered back. "Generations after generation-"

"Hang up, let me stop you for just a second." Siege would say as he shook his head. "First of all… how did I even get here?"

"That was a blessing in its own right. The tale of the Divine One indicates after your defeat of Sombron, you had to take leave to another world. By sheer miracle, we were graced to see you again in our land, just outside the temple, at that. Clanne and Framme placed you near Alear so you could see the one the Great Goddess tasked you to protect." Vander explained.

"...Then this next question might stun you all." Siege stated. "See, I… seem to have lost all of my memories… all of them… how did I attain the title of… Radiant Saviour?" Siege asked.

"It was because you were the one who fought alongside the Divine One, in defeating the Fell Dragon Sombron!" Clanne explained. "You were considered to be a hero that was equal to that of the Divine One herself!"

"Pardon but… you say you lost your memories, Radiant Savior?" Vander asked.

"...Yeah." Siege admitted. "All I can remember before I came here… a… close brother of mine… I lost him… and… a Goddess' voice… telling me to never lose hope… then I woke up here… I… really have no memories of this land, or even of fighting with Alear… it's as if every fabric of who I am was… stolen by someone." Siege added.

"Ah… So it must be by evil that you have ended up without your memories…" Vander grimaced. "...But I suppose the fact that being gone for a thousand years, the same time since the first Steward of the Dragon took their post."

"Hold up, A THOUSAND YEARS!?" Siege exclaimed. "HOW HAVE I BEEN ABSENT A THOUSAND YEARS!?"

"I… I do not know. Forgive me." Vander stated with an apologetic tone.

"A thousand years!? That's how long I've been asleep!?" Alear asked, with less surprise than Siege.

"Indeed. Alear's mother, Lumera, the Divine Dragon Monarch, has long awaited this day." Vander explained. "Finally, you, a Divine Dragon yourself, has awakened. This surely signifies great things.

"The monarch… Lumera… you said she was my mother?" Alear asked back. "And I'm a 'Divine Dragon', you three called it?"

"Oh dear. Is your memory hazy, Divine One?' Vander asked with concern.

"I know my name, and Siege right beside me… as if he was close to me… but that's about it." Alear admitted.

"Maybe you're both just feeling groggy because of all that sleep?" Framme suggested.

"Fret not, Divine One. Such lapses in memory are to be expected after sleeping for so long." Vander told Alear, before turning to Siege. "And I'm sure that we will find some way to reclaim your memories."

Vander then took a moment to explain further for Alear. "Now, if I may…. Divine Dragons are a royal family of dragons revered as deities. Queen Lumera, the Divine Dragon Monarch, rules over the Holy Land of Lythos." Vander explained. "In the war, a thousand years ago, she defeated and imprisoned the wicked Fell Dragon. You, Divine One, are her only child, and the Radiant Saviour was your guardian."

"The war, the Fell Dragon… I feel like I can almost remember… but…" Alear stated.

"Please, don't trouble yourself trying to bring it all back at once." Vander advised Alear. "Your memories will return in time. You are a being of immense power, a deity, no less. I've heard many tales of your kindness, nobility and bravery. Your flinching heroism. The same for the Radiant Saviour."

"...You mentioned a Great Goddess. What role does she play in this?" Siege would ask.

"The Great Goddess was Lumera's most trusted friend. She is a master of many things, an elder magician being among one of them. Her name was Magina, and she highly favored you as the Divine One's guardian." Vander explained.

"Magina… that name…" Siege said. "...That name seems so familiar."

"Like Vander said, don't stress about it." Framme would say. "What's important is that you're both awake and ready to save the world again! Yippee!"

"Hah… I love your enthusiasm." Siege smiled, before his senses began to flare. "...I sense trouble. Near the temple outskirts. Evil presence." Siege stated, looking to the east.

"What!?" Vander exclaimed. "In that case, we cannot afford to proceed to Lythos Castle. Who knows what kind of evil lurks here on Somniel…"

"I'll lead the charge. Clanne, Framme, you two stay out of harm's way, I'm not letting you two get hurt. Vander, Alear, follow me." Siege stated as he rushed to the east end of the temple, to the garden area.

"Y-Yes, Radiant Savior!" Framme exclaimed, as she and Clanne immediately found a safe place to hide within, as suddenly, they were warped right to the middle of the danger, which horrified the both of them at the sudden danger they found themselves in..

Meanwhile, with the main trio…

As Siege, Alear and Vander prepared themselves to face the danger coming their way, Alear and Siege noticed that they were wearing the same rings they did in the past.

"How long have I been wearing this ring… Since before I fell asleep?" Alear remarked. "...That blue stone… it reminds me of something."

"You noticed too, huh?" Siege asked Alear, looking at his own ring. "It doesn't matter for now, we have to follow Vander to the garden area, quickly."

Siege and Alear soon caught up to Vander, as they all saw a fearful sight. Clanne and Framme surrounded by black clad soldiers.

"What!? How did-!?" Siege exclaimed, seeing the two of them.

"Uh, this isn't looking good!" Framme remarked, as she and Clanne were pressed against each other's back.

"Vander! Are creatures like that common around here?" Alear asked Vander.

"They're not. I've never seen them." Vander answered back. "Nor have I heard of such monsters appearing in Lythos before. This is a land of peace."

"We have to fight them! Somehow, they seem to worry me for some reason… but I can't let that get in my way!" Alear remarked, before drawing her blade. "Please, let us fight!"

"Alright, but stay on your guard, there's no telling what you might have lost in that long slumber…" Vander warned both Siege and Alear.

"As long as I can wield a blade, I'm fine. Let's go!" Siege exclaimed, pulling out the sword on his person, which was Ragnell-Yato. 'This blade… why does it feel familiar to me as well…?'

Siege shook his thoughts aside, and rushed at the nearest foe, which held an ax.

"Alear…" Marth's voice emanated from Alear's ring, as Alear looked at it with surprise.

"You must remember, Siege…" Dezna's voice rang from Siege's ring, causing Siege to look at his ring as well.

"Who… Who said that?" Siege remarked, before he then looked at his ring, as the gem on it shined. "Wait, the ring…"

"Know that my strength can be yours." Marth's voice echoed from Alear's ring. "If ever we cross paths again, I hope you will remember me. Indeed, that you will remember all of us who took up arms to fight by your side."

"The Emblems…" Alear remarked.

"Right… of course." Siege said, looking to Alear, before he then looked to Clanne and Framme, then to Vander. "Vander. Get Clanne and Framme out. Now!"

"What about you both?" Vander asked, before seeing Alear rushing forward. "Divine One! You mustn't do this alone!"

"Don't worry! Please! I'm not alone!" Alear exclaimed. "Just rescue Clanne and Framme!"

"...Understood." Vander stated, before he then galloped forward, before scooping both of the twins up in a single motion onto his horse, as Siege rushed after Alear as well.

"Help me. Lend me your strength in this fight!" Alear exclaimed. "Shine on, Emblem of Beginnings!"

At the end of the incantation, Marth immediately materialized above Alear, before falling down and then floating to her side.

"With our bond of strength, no evil can stand in our way! Save us, Emblem of Redemption!" Siege yelled as Dezna materialized above him, dropping down and joining Siege's side as well.

"I am known as Marth, Emblem Marth, to be clear." Marth declared.

After the battle concluded, Siege looked at Dezna with apologetic eyes, as Dezna tilted her head.

"You seem downtrodden, Siege." Dezna would remark.

"...I've lost my memories, Dezna. So… I'm sorry I didn't remember you at first." Siege remarked.

"Hey, I don't blame you for losing your memories. It just happened. Trust me, I have a good feeling you'll find them again while you're here." Dezna smiled reassuringly.

"Divine One! Radiant Saviour! Thanks for saving us!" Framme thanked Siege and Alear.

"Yeah, we didn't know how that happened… we were just trying to hide away, but we were warped into the thick of it." Clanne stated.

"Hm… this might be concerning." Alear creased her eyebrows. "At least we managed to get you both through safe and well-"

"Divine One, we are not out of danger yet!" Vander warned Alear, as more Corrupted appeared right before them.

Before either Alear or Siege could act, a dark shadow flew over them, as a dragon with white scales flew over them, before turning around to face them.

"They got a dragon!?" Alear exclaimed with horror.

"No, wait! That's Lumera!" Framme exclaimed.

"Lumera?" Siege repeated, before the dragon then charged energy into its mouth, before firing a bright blue beam that hit the Corrupted, causing a massive explosion as it dragged the beam across the ground, leaving no trace of them.

However, more Corrupted appeared on another front.

"More of them!?" Siege exclaimed, before suddenly, arcane blasts rained from above, as another figure descended down to the ground, being Magina.

"Spell Arcanum: DIVINE WRATH!" Magina yelled, blasting the Corrupted to bits with holy magic as she landed, dusting herself off from the flying dust of the dust cloud.

"The Great Goddess too!" Clanne exclaimed.

"Whew. That was a close one." Magina stated as she looked up to the dragon. "Try not to expend too much more energy, Lumera, you're tired enough as it is are you not?" Magina asked the dragon.

The dragon slowly lowered down, before disappeared in a flash of golden light, turning into a regal queen with a dress of pink and white, with red, orange and yellow tips along her feet, and golden sleeves, as well as a golden regal headdress on her head, and long blue hair and blue eyes.

"Indeed, I merely wished to see my child… and protect her." Lumera stated, before turning to Alear. "At last, you are awake. Is that really you, Alear?"

"Yes, it's me. Thank you for saving us." Alear answered back.

"What a joy it is to see you, Alear." Lumera declared, before embracing Alear lovingly. "I've waited for so long! When I sensed you had awoken, I flew here as fast as my wings would carry me. I hope you're not hurt."

"I'm… I'm fine. Thanks to Vander, and Siege." Alear answered back, before Lumera gasped, upon seeing Siege.

"You… you have returned as well?" Lumera asked softly.

"I… guess. After a thousand years, apparently." Siege remarked sheepishly. "I… wish I had a clue what's going on."

"Mm. Yes. That's concerning. You really did lose all your memories…" Magina sighed deeply.

"What a relief it still is… You cannot understand how I've missed both of you, my dear child and her guardian…" Lumera stated, before she then realised something. "Wait, is Alear also…"

"Since awakening, the Divine One's memory is clouded. Awakening her Emblem barely changed much." Vander explained.

"I was afraid of that…" Magina sighed.

"I'm sorry. I'm sure that you weren't expecting this." Alear apologised.

"No, I must apologise. I was so overcome with joy, that I hugged you as hard as I could. That was impolite of me." Lumera answered back. "I take this to mean you've forgotten all but Siege's name. I suppose that's to be expected. A thousand years is a very long time indeed."

"Yes but it isn't something that should affect memory to this degree." Magina stated, seeming to be in deep thought the whole time.

"Vander explained that I've been sleeping since… since some war that happened back then." Alear stated.

"Yes. You suffered a terrible wound. And, and because of that…" Lumera remarked, as she stopped speaking for a moment, as her expression became morose.

"A wound… I don't remember that. Or this world or anything but Siege, but I still only know his name." Alear stated.

"A wound…?" Siege asked, trying to remember.

"Don't fret, my child. I will speak to you of all you've forgotten." Lumera assured Alear. "Regardless of what you remember, I'm simply glad to have you back, my dear child."

"Shall we go to Lythos Castle? I can prepare all of us some tea to continue this conversation." Magina suggested.

"Of course. Let us depart on my back. I'm not so tired that I cannot ferry my child and her band." Lumera answered back, before transforming back into her dragon form. "Please, ride onto my back."

Everyone soon climbed aboard, as Vander elected to take Clanne and Framme upon his horse, as Magina also rode on Lumera's back to Lythos Castle, hoping to help at least get some of Siege, and perhaps Alear's memories back.
