Hey there guys! How are you all doing? With all the recent updates I have been doing for my biggest story, Shattering Lies, and some for Masked Vigilante, I wanted to try my hand at a Naruto X Code Geass crossover. Seeing how Oshi-no-Ko is almost nearing its end by early next year, I have decided to slow down a bit for that story and keep updates to a weekly level with large chapters. I don't want to burn through the current manga chapters and have to wait for months for the story to end before I can write again.
So, I decided to write this. This is actually an old idea, a lot older than any of my current stories. We all know the story of Naruto and we also know that Naruto narrowly avoided being put into the Foundation under Danzo and the Root, but what if things were different? What if the Third hated Naruto enough that Danzo was given control of him? With that in mind, this is a different retelling of what Naruto could have been like.
However, this is a crossover as you all can see. How will an emotionally lacking Naruto come to cope in a world like Code Geass? Especially considering that he is only thirteen years old? Anyways, enjoy the chapter. I'll see you guys maybe next week lol.
"The Hokage knows best; ours is to obey." With those words, he was sent once more on a mission. A suicide mission and he knew it. The Third Hokage's expression was neutral, but the boy could see it in his eyes; hate. It was no secret that the village despised him. After all, he was the source of their greatest loss.
"Your mission objective is to bring back Sasuke Uchiha, alive preferably. If not, then his body would suffice." A heavily bandaged man spoke up.
"Yes, Lord Danzo." The blond spoke from his kneeling position, his head bowed, his face stoic, eyes dull. He knew what Danzo would do should he not show the proper respects that the two men demanded.
"You are to not be captured. You are not to fail in this mission, is that understood?" Danzo spoke up as the blond nodded.
"Yes, Lord Danzo." He responded. Failure meant that he'd have to endure more torture, more conditioning. After all, he was Konoha's greatest weapon, its ultimate deterrent. The Jinchūriki of the fearsome Kyūbi no Yōko.
"Your mission begins now. Dismissed." The Hokage finally spoke up causing the blond to stiffen before he nodded and vanished from their sight. He'd either succeed in his mission or die trying. After all, this is what he had been trained for, this was his duty, his purpose. To be Konoha's attack dog and he died, so be it. There were always more candidates to put the Kyūbi in.
An Hour later:
Tracking his target was easy for him. He was a Shinobi of the Root. It had been literally beaten into him to be an effective tracker. To hunt down his enemies. Dispatching enemy forces was even easier.
"The shadows are your allies. You are a Shinobi. A Shinobi strikes from the shadows." The teachings beaten into his head and body echoed loudly in his head. He had come across the Sound Four. He looked atop from his vantage point, the white porcelain mask holding his facial features, the hood of his black trench coat pulled up with only a few strands of blond escaping.
"Fifty meters down. Target is not in sight. Most likely left behind to fend off any teams sent by Konoha." The blond thought as he brought his arm up across his chest before he shot it forward. With a slight flick of his wrist, four expertly aimed Kunai were launched toward their targets. His aim was true as each of the Sound Four had their heads lodged with a Kunai.
They had died in an instant, having never even fought the enemy that had dispatched them with such ease. It was ironic really. The so-called Sound Nin didn't even hear a thing before their bodies fell onto the forest floor. The Root Nin appeared in the small clearing, retrieving his Kunai's, and was once more. He had a target to hunt down.
With Sasuke Uchiha:
"So close!" Sasuke thought to himself. All he had to do was get through the Valley of the End and the power he so craved was within his reach.
"And then…I'll use it to kill you, Itachi." He thought darkly. Yes, vengeance was the only that mattered to him. Killing his brother, avenging his mother and father, his Clan. No one would stop him. Not his teammates, not the Leaf, no one! He kept running forwards before he slowly came to a stop as he saw a figure standing in his path.
"Are you with Orochimaru?" Sasuke questioned. The figure said nothing as it drew a Tantō from his trench coat.
"Sasuke Uchiha by the order of the Third Hokage, you are to return to the Leaf." The figure spoke as Sasuke scoffed, his eyes shifting to the fabled and infamous Sharingan before he charged at the figure. With a single motion, he quickly threw a barrage of Kunai and Shuriken toward the figure.
The Root Nin took a leap backward while effectively deflecting the incoming projectile, but Sasuke wasn't done. Closing the distance Sasuke left hand crackled to life as lighting danced around it before it was fully enclosed, a fist of lighting. He quickly brought his hand back before plunging it into the Root Nin. The Uchiha smirked in victory before his smirk turned into a frown.
*Pop* The Root Nin's 'body' exploded into a cloud of smoke, reviving a simple log. Sasuke frantically looked around him before he leaned his up body backward as the Tantō of his opponent flew across his face, cutting a few strands of his hair. Thinking quickly, he rolled his body over and delivered a kick to his opponent. The Root Nin brought his left arm up, absorbing much of the block, but the kick was strong and it sent him hurdling towards the Valley.
"Focus." The Root Nin thought as he brought out a Kunai and stabbed it into the wall of the valley. The Kunai slowed his descent, allowing him to use it as leverage and get a footing on the rocky surface.
"Get out of my way!" Sasuke gave roaring down, slamming into the Root Nin, who grunted at being kicked right in the gut, but he fought through the pain. Reorientation himself, he came face-to-face with his target before he brought his arm up and delivered a strong punch across the Uchiha's face. The two wrestled with each other as they fell down towards the river, punching, deflecting, defending.
The Root Nin quickly furnished a Kunai and tried to jam it into the Uchiha's neck. Clearly talking was going to do no good and bringing the Uchiha back alive wouldn't be possible.
"Eliminate the target." The Root Nin thought, his mind shifting from disabling his opponent to killing him. Sasuke seeing this used all his power and delivered another kick to the Root Nin, creating distance between the two, but the Root Nin wasn't going to give up. Seeing that his attempt to jam the Kunai had failed, he instead threw it.
"Ugh!" The Uchiha yelped in pain as the Kunai made contact, finding itself now jammed into his shoulder. The two's bodies made impact with the water as twin plumes of water shot upwards, their bodies descending into the river. The Root Nin was the first to recover as he shot back out from the water before his body slowly rose out of the water, allowing him to stand on the water. He looked around for the Uchiha but saw nothing.
"Byakugan." The Root Nin said to himself as the veins around his eyes bulged, allowing him to see everything around him.
"Below me!" He shouted in slight surprise before he jumped backward as Sasuke emerged from the river, the Curse Mark slowly turning his body into that of a demon.
"I'LL KILL YOU!" The enraged Uchiha shouted as he charged at the Root Nin with enhanced speed.
"Shit!" The Root Nin thought as blood pooled in his mouth. The Uchiha had made contact, his lightening fist cutting through his clothes and into his gut. He had underestimated his enemy and had paid the price.
"I need power, Fox." He shouted to his tenant. The mighty Kyūbi opened one of its eyes as he saw his human host bleeding thanks to the new fist-sized hole in his gut. The Kyūbi scoffed at that.
"Foolish child, you dare ask me for help after what you have done to me?" The Kyūbi growled as it tried to stand up, but found it futile. Golden Chains shook and tightened as they kept the Kyūbi in its place, pinned to the ground while having it impaled at various parts of its physical body.
"If I die, you die." The Root Nin countered as the Kyūbi huffed at that.
"I'll just reform years later. Not even the Shinigami or these wretched seals can keep me contained for long." The Kyūbi retorted. He had lived for centuries; he could wait longer if he needed his freedom. The Root Nin gritted his teeth as he jumped backward, throwing Kunai at the Uchiha, who laughed like the madman, paying no kind to the Kunai.
"Shit." The Root Nin thought as he knelled on the ground, the blood from his mouth seeping through his mask. The Uchiha relished in his perceived victory.
"Do you understand now?! I am an Uchiha! You can't beat me! No one in the Leaf can!" The mad Uchiha proclaimed. Perhaps it was his ego speaking, or maybe it was the influence of the Curse Seal. Either way, he was drunk with power. The Root Nin grimaced at that. His carelessness was going to cost him his life.
"N-Naruto-Kun, please, live…for me." His eyes widened as he recalled a memory. A girl. Bluish hair. Levander eyes. He slowly brought a hand up shakenly and traced it across his mask where his eyes were. Her eyes…these were her eyes…and he remembers…
"So, you finally managed to break one of the seals?" The Kyūbi roared in laughter as a crudely drawn seal at the back of his neck began to fade. A rush of memories began to flood his mind. Before he was a Root Nin before he was conditioned to be this…this weapon.
"H-Hinata…" He whispered out, choking on his own blood as tears began to steam down his eyes, mixing in with his blood. His first friend, his only friend. The one who had died because of him, because he was weak. He felt his vision darken as his breathing became ragged.
"Please…Kyūbi…I want to live…to be free…" The boy begged as memories kept flooding into his mind. They were old memories, but they were his. The Kyūbi scoffed at his begging but thought about it. He could help the boy, but he wanted something in return.
"I'll help you, but I want you to remove these wretched chains of yours. I do NOT like being pinned down by them." The Kyūbi offered as the boy nodded, agreeing to those terms. The Kyūbi grinned as he forced a massive amount of Chakra into the boy.
"Thank you." The boy responded as the flesh began to knit itself back together where the fist-sized hole was. Slowly but surely the hole was sealed and all that remained was pink flesh, still tender from being healed. He tried to stand up but found it difficult. The physical wound might have been closed, but the mental trauma was still there.
Red Chakra soon exploded from the boy as four whole tails made of the said Red Chakra emerged from his back and with blinding speed he was already on top of the Uchiha. He swung his right hand, which was now clawed, as it cut through the Uchiha's chest with effortless ease. The Uchiha roared in pain as four large gashes appeared across his chest, but it wasn't over. Another clawed hand came from his right, digging into his throat and ripping it out.
"T-This can't be happening…" The Uchiha thought as his vision began to fade. The Curse Mark was receding, its effect now gone as he bled to death. But the Root Nin was in a state of berserk. He roared as he kept slashing and slashing with his clawed hands with reckless abandon.
"Kit. Kit. KIT!" The Kyūbi shouted in his head as the Root Nin stopped in mid-swing, the Red Chakra slowly receding as he finally came to his senses.
"W-What?" He let out as he looked down. Sasuke Uchiha was dead. No, his body was beyond dead. It had been severely mutilated and was barely recognizable.
"I-I need to get out of here…" He trailed off as he stood up and backed up, stumbling a bit before he fell to his knees. His mission was to either bring the Uchiha alive or to bring back his body dead. But looking at the…body right now, well, he was sure that they wouldn't accept this. This was a failed mission. No, he wouldn't go back.
"Watch out Kit!" The Kyūbi shouted once more. The Curse Seal on Sasuke's neck, or what remained of it anyways, roared back to life. The black Chakra violently thrashed about before it leaped onto the Root Nin.
"What is this thing?" He thought in a slight panic as he tried to fight off the black Chakra, but it was warping around him, trying to find a way inside the boy. The Kyūbi snarled as the black Chakra tried to infiltrate its host. This was HIS host and he would NOT be sharing with anyone! Roaring, the Kyūbi unleashed its own Chakra in a bid to purge this vile Chakra.
"What is…happening to me…" The Root Nin said to himself as his hands balled into fists. He felt like his own being was torn apart as Red and Black Chakra fought for dominance in his body. All around him, small rocks began to levitate as sparks of lightning began to flash. The Chakra began to manifest around him, tearing apart the very fabric of realities around him.
"I will not let this vile Chakra win!" The Kyūbi roared, unleashing eight tails worth of Chakra in his host's body and outside of it as well. The reaction was violent as the tears in the fabric of realities blew apart and before Root Nin even knew what happened, he vanished. All that remained was the mutilated body of Sasuke Uchiha and a chard ground where the Root Nin was.
Unknown Location:
"Now you've done it." The Kyūbi spoke as its host shot up within his mindscape, a system of tunnels with a massive gate baring the Kyūbi behind it, Golden Chains still keeping him in his place.
"W-What happened?" He questioned as the Kyūbi sighed at that.
"Kit, we got sling-shot through a tear in reality. You're lucky that your body even survived that." The Kyūbi explained as the Root Nin looked at him, slightly creeping the Kyūbi out since all he saw was a blank porcelain mask.
"Take off that mask, Kit. You're not in your world anymore." The Kyūbi said, though his tone was considerably softer. He knew why the boy wore that mask. The Root Nin reached for his mask, and he gently ran his fingerless gloved hand across it.
"I…I don't want to." He responded; his voice devoid of all emotions other than the small amount of fear.
"Take it off." The Kyūbi practically ordered at that point. He growled slightly, not at the boy, but rather at that damn village that had turned him into this…this weapon.
"I'm hideous." He retorted. That was one of the reasons why he wore the mask. Ever since he could remember his handlers would call him a demon, saying how hideous he was, how ugly he was. And after the memories came rushing back…he was more determined to wear a mask.
"By the fucking Sage; take off your mask!" The Kyūbi wasn't ordering, he was demanding. The Root Nin stiffened before he slowly raised his trembling hand and gently took hold of his mask before he slowly lifted it, letting his Chakra concentration around it give way. As his mask came off, the hoody was pushed back to reveal his brilliant yellow hair and spiked everywhere. He slowly opened his eyes to reveal Levander Byakugan, her Byakugan.
"It wasn't your fault, Kit." The Kyūbi spoke, his voice firm, but the boy shook his head.
"I…I killed her…" He whispered as the Kyūbi grunted at that.
"You two were six years old. They made you fight, to kill the other. It was kill or be killed." The Kyūbi stated the facts as the boy looked down, looking at the eyes of his first and only friend in that dark cell that he called home.
"She…She was my friend…" He started, his voice trembling as he brought his hands up and buried his face into them as he fell onto his knees.
"I'm so sorry, Hinata…I'm so sorry." He cried out his apologies over and over again as the Kyūbi watched him. He frowned at the scene. This was why he had hated humans for so long. They were destructive. They took innocent children like his Host and turned them into this. He waited as the boy cried his heart out to his only friend.
"You remember your name, right?" The Kyūbi questioned him as the boy gave a small nod.
"Y-Yes." He responded as the Kyūbi nodded.
"What is it?" He questioned the boy who wiped away the last of his tears. His name, yes, he remembers his name. He brought one of his hands up and his neck and rubbed it. He flinched as he felt the scare, a seal that had been literally carved into him. While the seal had broken, the physical remains of it remained. It was a memory suppression seal, amongst other things.
"N-Naruto Uzumaki." He spoke as the Kyūbi nodded his head, pleased by the answer before it looked around him.
"Now, the chains." The Fox said as Naruto blinked before he realized what he meant. Closing his eyes, the blond focused on the Golden Chains before they started to shake one by one before they began to retract into the darkness of the tunnels. The Kyūbi sighed in relief, his body no longer pinned, his power no longer being suppressed to such an extent.
"That's more like it." He let out as he stretched his body. Naruto looked on at the Kyūbi, his eyes showing no emotions as he watched the all-powerful being flexed his tails and power. He was lost in his own thoughts. He was…
"Free…" He whispered to himself. Freedom. What a foreign concept it was for him. Most of his time had been spent underground, confined either to a cell or training.
"Yes, you are now free from that wretched village. Heck, you are free from that reality as a whole. You'll be waking up soon." The Kyūbi informed him as Naruto looked up at him and dully nodded.
"What…do I do?" Naruto questioned the Kyūbi, looking at him with those same lifeless eyes. The Kyūbi grunted as he set his head on his paws.
"Do whatever you want. I'm going to sleep now." The Kyūbi answered as he closed his eyes and pushed Naruto out of his mindscape.
Naruto's eyes shot open as he brought his hand up to his mask. He sighed in slight relief that the mask was still on. After having beaten him to keep it on for years, he naturally kept it on, out of fear and self-loathing for himself. He gingerly sat up as he felt his body slightly sore from whatever he had just gone through.
"Where…am I?" He questioned himself as he looked around. He was on a roof of a building, but it looked like it was in ruins. All around him, there were other buildings that were in equally worse shape. He stood up and walked over to the ledge of the building, a slight limp in his walk. Walking over to the ledge he knelled down to get a look at his surroundings.
"Ruined city, multiple unknowns down in the streets, civilians?" His training was kicking in as he inspected the streets below. The people, civilians he assumed, were in poor shape. They looked destitute, wandering aimlessly for the most part. His facial expression behind his mask never changed.
"I need a new set of clothes." He thought to himself as he looked at his torn trench coat and ruined shirt. He instinctively brought a hand over where his fatal wound was. How long had been out? He'd have to ask the Kyūbi when the Fox woke up. He was about to move before he stopped and looked to his left.
"What is that?" He muttered as he heard the sounds of explosions, along with other kinds of sounds. And just then, rounding the corner, emerged some sort of machines. They were tall, surprisingly fast for their size, and also agile as well. He turned his attention to the civilians below and saw the look of terror on their faces and they began to run in the other direction, but they stood no chance. Within seconds blood began to flow as many of them were turned into red mist by the said machines.
"A massacre…" He muttered to himself. That was the only way to describe the situation. The civilians offered no resistance and yet they were all cut down. Men, women, and children. No one was spared.
"Close your heart to it. A heart of steel." His conditioning began to kick in. Years of Root training couldn't be undone so easily. This wasn't his fight. He didn't know these people. He didn't know why they were fighting. Why any of this was happening? He stood up and turned to leave.
"You're a good person, Naruto-Kun." He stopped mid-step as he heard her voice. His eyes widened at that; more memories of his friend came flooding into his mind. His nature conflicted with his training.
"A heart of steel, a heart of steel…" He kept his mantra up, no, he must turn away from this. This wasn't his fight.
"After all, you saved me." His eyes clutched shut, another memory. This time of one saving her when he was four before they were taken away by Root Nin's.
"Dammit…" He muttered as he turned right back around and walked up over to the ledge and saw one of those machines around to crush a wounded civilian. He drew out his Tantō and stepped over the ledge, free-falling towards the machine.
"Fuuton: Inbijiburu ekusukyūshon (Wind Release: Invisible Execution)." He muttered as he added wind Chakra into the blade, extending its length and lethality. With a swift downward motion, he cut right through the machine's entire length as he landed gracefully. The machine came to a complete halt before it fell into two pieces. Naruto looked at it blankly as blood began to paint the ground.
"So, there was someone inside of it." He thought. He had cut right down the middle of the machine. Whoever that person was, they were very much dead with the amount of blood that leaked onto the ground.
"T-Thank you!" He turned his attention to the civilian he had saved. It was a young woman and as he looked closer now, she was clutching a baby in her arms. He nodded at her before a look of horror dawned on her face as she looked behind him. Seeing this, he turned to look back to see four more of those machines rolling toward him.
"Run." He simply told her as he began to go through a series of hand signs. The woman tried, but her leg was wounded. Seeing this, Naruto sped up his hand signs before he finished and slammed his hands onto the ground.
"Doton: Shi banrinochōjō (Earth Release: Four Great Walls)." He shouted. A single wall rose up right in front of the four machines. Two of the machines were caught off guard and slammed right into the first wall at full speed, crashing right into them. Two of the machines jumped over the first wall, but one landed right at the spot where the second wall went up, crushing its legs and throwing it in between the first and second walls. The last machine successfully managed to jump over the second wall as well, but it didn't get far as the third and fourth walls rose up just as the machine went full speed and crashed right into them.
Naruto nodded to himself before he turned to the woman behind him that was on the ground.
"Can you stand?" He questioned her as she looked at him with wide eyes, her mouth moving but unable to form any words at what she had seen. A child had not only cut through a single Knightmare but also erected four walls from nothing! She stood up with some effort as she clutched her baby.
"T-Thank you." She thanked him once more before she turned and began to run away, away from the battlefield. Naruto looked at her retreating form, his face expressionless. He turned to look back at the walls he had erected had begun to sink back into the ground as the Jutsu gave away, revealing the crumbled machines before he slowly lifted his face up to the sky.
"I'm sorry, Hinata. I was a terrible friend…" He whispered as the wind rushed past him, his hair swaying back and forth. He'd never forgive himself for what he did, and he'd forever carry the guilt of killing his only first and only friend in the form of her eyes.
And that's it for now. As you can see, Naruto has been through some thought shit in this story. A lot of that will be seen in the coming chapters. Hinata plays a large part in Naruto's character in this story, despite her, well being dead and at his hands no less, a part of the story that will be explained in flashbacks.
I don't wanna give too much away, but the Kumo kidnapping was foiled by Naruto, who saved Hinata in the process, but instead of the Hokage or the other Hyuuga finding them it was Danzo who found them. More will be explained about how Danzo managed that. All you need to know for now is that Hinata died, Naruto killed her, and he has her Byakugan, and he feels immense guilt for it. That is all for now, see you all next time
