It was Boxing Day morning, as Julia woke up and heard a ruckus in the living room.
"William?" She said as she felt for him at his side of the bed, but he wasn't there.
She got out of bed and walked into the living room and saw William putting the lights on the tree, since they took it down last night.
"William, what on earth?"
He turned, "oh, Julia sorry to wake you."
"It's alright, but what are you doing?
"Your gift inspired me, and I want to apologize and make it up to Susannah, since it's her first Christmas."
"Make it up to her, by setting up the tree with the lights?"
"Yes, but also I made her something. I wanted to give it to her for her birthday but, I rather give it to her now, for Christmas. Also, to make it up from not seeing Santa, the inspector agreed to dress up as Santa for Susannah"
Julia smiled, "William, I don't know, what to say…"
He was about to say something, when the doorbell rang, "that be the inspector, can you go get Susannah?"
She nods, and heads to the nursery and sees Susannah is awake, "mama"
"Hello, darling. Did you have a good sleep?"
Susannah smiled and raised her arms up, as Julia picked her up, "daddy, has a surprise for you, but first let's get your diaper changed"
As Julia was changing Susannah's diaper, William and Thomas began setting up, when Thomas began scratching his arms and legs, "I'm only doing this for 20 minutes for little Susannah, then I am taking this itchy, and smelly costume back to the shop"
"Of course, sir. Let me check on Julia and Susannah"
"No need, here they come" inspector said as Julia and Susannah walked into the living room.
"Susannah, looks who's here" Julia said
"Santa" Susannah said with a smile
"Ho ho ho, come here, little Susannah, and tell gran…I mean Santa, what you want for Christmas"
Susannah approached William as he lifted her onto the inspector's lap, "now, Susannah, have you been a good girl, this year?"
She just looks at him and smiles, "ho, ho, ho, I'll take that as a yes. Now, what would you like for Christmas?"
"Cismas gone" Susannah said
"Yes, it is, but what would you like to have for Christmas?"
"House"
"A doll house? Well let's see what I have in my bag. Uh, if you're father, bring me the gift I have in the satchel"
"It would be my pleasure, Santa" William said as he grabbed a red blanket he wrapped a green ribbon around, and brought it in the living room, "now let's see what, I brought you for Christmas"
Susannah got off the inspector's lap, and opened the blanket and saw a replica of their house, which was the blueprint of the house, William made, "wow, Santa you did well. Thank you"
"Your welcome, now I'll take my satchel and be on my way, Merry Belated Christmas, Susannah"
"Mey Cismas Santa" as she waved bye
"I'll walk you out, Santa" Julia said as they walked to the door, "thank you, so much Thomas."
"Your welcome, enjoy your day" as he left
She closed the door and rejoined William and Susannah, who were at the kitchen table, admiring the dollhouse, "what did Santa, bring you?"
"House"
"Yes, and it appears to be a replica of Susannah's house." Julia said as she was amazed by how updated it was, and included little replica figurines of William, Julia, Susannah, the inspector, Margaret, George, and Effie.
All day, Susannah, played with her dollhouse, and knew what each room was, and said, "tank you, dada"
William looked at her, "how did you know?"
"Santa, ganpa Tom"
William chuckled, and gave her a kiss on the forehead, "my smart girl. Merry Christmas, Susannah"
