So somehow, I got a hyperfocus suddenly for this particular combo. So...I am writing it up now. Either way, I will throw a serious attempt at this. So yeah...this is here now.
DarkAres12: I have only one comment to that: Completely and utterly fair.
Chapter 1: A New World Encounter
Six coughs and wheezes at the smell of the smoke around him from the botched teleportation. "Damnant illos doctores!" He yells out in frustration and anger, and pats himself down. "Wait…where is my weaponry? There's Blood-Nap, some of my pistols…where's my shotgun and my sword and…" Six cuts himself out with a shout of indignant anger.
"Okay, okay, calm down. Take stock. We were…where?" He takes a look around at his surroundings. The darkness of night surrounds him at this small clearing at the side of a forest. He looks up to the sky above, and sees no stars that he recognizes.
"What did Klein say? Multiverse theory or something?" Six mutters to himself. "...Oh no. That is completely ridiculous. Impossible, even. And…impossibilities happen in the Big MT on a pretty constant basis. Cacas."
And in the distance…someone speaks. In a language not spoken much by anyone in the Wasteland anymore.
"Come on, I hear something over here!" A rough voice yells out, in Japanese. Or at least some variant of it. "Let's make sure that they die too!"
Six blinks slightly, and thinks to himself, "Japanese? A bit unexpected, but I can work with this. But first things first. Dealing with those raiders." He crouches down and presses the button at the side of his Elite Riot Gear, activating the glowing red night vision. He goes through the small forest, not a single branch or stick breaking under his light footsteps. He pulls out his Bowie Knife, blackened steel a foot long and with the name Blood-Nap inscribed onto the handle.
He slides in between two bushes, and sees the small group of raiders. One of them starts speaking again. "Those students are starting to put up a fight, shouldn't we deal with them first?" One of the raiders says.
"I want to find whatever spoke first! Our job is to deal with anyone here! No witnesses!" The other raider, the leader of this group of them, tells the more junior raider. Six creeps ever so closer to the group of raiders. Breathing down their collective necks.
"Well then, if ya are sure. And…what the hell is that behind you?"
"What the-?" The older raider turns around, and Six rushes out from the shadows of the underground, and slams his knife through the bandit's fur armor and through his heart.
"I may not speak the language well…but I know enough to tell you this. You are dying tonight!" Six growls out in Japanese, overly enunciated.
The other raiders pull out their swords, shocked at the sight of Six killing their leader. "What the hell is that!?" One of the raiders yells out, as they attempt to rush the Courier, swinging their swords wildly, without any real skill behind it. And Six, with the experience of a wasteland legend, quite easily ducks and dodges them.
"This is honestly embarrassing. Only swords? Even the Legion was more well equipped than you." He taunts as he slashes his knife across the throat of a raider, and flips his blade into a reverse grip to slam against another raider's temple, letting the bone fragments fly against his helmet.
"Goddess damn you!" A different raider yells out as they lift their sword overly high…and someone rushes in, and slashes across the raider's chest with a sword of their own. A woman with dark green hair drooping down past their shoulder, and wearing extremely fancy stockings and a jacket on their shoulders without the sleeves on. And, most notably, a purely emotionless face. Like an unfeeling statue.
"Hello. I imagine you aren't with the raiders here?" Six calls out to the new woman, who just nods in response as she parries away a slash and kills another raider. "Extra help is always appreciated." Six replies as he kicks the body on his knife off and into another raider, and smoothly ducks under a horizontal slash and drags his knife through the stomach of another raider.
"Oh fuck this! I am not fighting the Ashen Demon and some sort of red-eyed devil!" One of the remaining raiders says as they attempt to flee…and an arrow slams through the back of the raider's throat. As the body of the last raider collapses, a man with bronze skin and black hair appears, bow and arrow in hand.
"Well then, glad to see we have another one helping out. Thanks for that, you know." The man says, directed at Six. "But we aren't quite done yet. So mind if you continue helping us out?"
"I already started dealing with these raiders. I do not intend to leave this half-done." Six replies, as he looks off to the distance. "I see one man with blond hair and a woman with white hair in the distance, along with an axe wielding group sizing up the white haired girl."
The woman finally speaks in response to Six's comments. "The axe wielders are the enemy." She replies as she runs towards the white haired girl.
"Understood." Six says as he rushes alongside the woman. The white haired girl, despite her talent in using an axe, is kicked away by the hulking mass of the leader raider.
"I'm gonna kill you where you stand!" The leader yells out as he lifts his axe up…as Six slams into the raider, sending him flying backwards and onto his back. As the woman lifts her sword up beside Six.
The leader suddenly jumps up, looks at the white haired lady…and runs towards her. The white haired lady pulls out a dagger, as the dark green haired woman runs towards the white haired lady herself.
"Speremus bonum iactum!" Six yells out, as he grabs Blood-Nap by the blade, and throws it. Sending it spiraling through the air…and into the arm of the raider leader. And the dark green hair woman kicks the leader away, sending Blood-Nap flying out and the raider into the crowd of raiders.
"Oh fuck this! Run!" A raider yells as they begin dragging the leader away, as the black haired man calls out.
"Hey, over here!" He says, motioning for the three of them to come over to him and the blond haired man.
"Just a second!" Six calls out in return, as he runs over and grabs Blood-Nap before joining the black haired man.
And, trotting up besides the group, is a man with a grizzled beard on a horse. "Another one of you kids?" The man says as he looks to Six. "Definitely doesn't look like it, with that armor."
Six coughs slightly. "I may have just arrived in…wherever this is. I am quite lost from my home." He replies, deciding to be as vague as possible at the moment. In such a new situation as a possible new universe, discretion is perhaps the better part of valor.
"Knew it. Could tell from the accent." The dark skinned man comments, as the white haired girl shakes her head.
"Claude, perhaps you shouldn't comment on someone's voice. Especially when we just met them." She replies to the now named Claude, as the dark green haired woman is pulled away from the group by the man on the horse.
"Now, I was just saying what I was thinking, Edelgard." He says, revealing the name of the white haired girl, "And besides, there's no denying that this guy knew what he was doing."
The blond haired man shakes his head too. "Like your retreat from earlier? You knew what you were doing then, Claude?"
"Of course, Dimitri," Claude replies to the blond man, now known as Dimitri. "But you two ended up following me and ruining everything. It would've gone perfectly otherwise."
Edelgard sighs. "I will admit though, I got a chance to see him battling against the bandits." She says, looking at Six. "And there is no denying that he holds a high level of skill, comparable to the woman we fought with. Which is why I have an offer for you to put these skills to use."
Six just sighs. "You know, you have all been speaking about me, but never asked me the basic question of my name or anything like that." He replies, a bit annoyed.
"You would be correct. Please forgive us for our rudeness in that matter." Dimitri replies. "Please, may we know your name?"
"...Name's Courier Six." He replies, as Edelgard looks a bit annoyed at Six's response.
"Your real name would be appreciated." She replies.
"As far as you three and myself are considered, my name is Courier Six."
"Perhaps wherever he comes from, his name is considered normal." Claude suggests.
"Oh, it is because of amnesia. I took a couple of attacks in the head, and woke up without my name or my personal identity." He replies, as it goes silent for a moment.
"...I am sorry for my comments, Six." Edelgard says.
"It's fine. I am used to the disbelief by now. Now, you wanted to offer me something, right?"
"Yes, right." Edelgard nods her head, trying to shake off any lingering regret towards her own comments. "I wish for you to lend your strength to the Adrestian Empire. You see, I'm the-"
Six cuts her off, with a response. "I am not inclined to tie myself to any nation while I intend to return home. And also, my knowledge of this place is…limited at best."
Claude puts his hands against the back of his head, and gives a smile. "Well then, that is quite surprising. Either way, I think that gives us plenty of time to forge a proper and lasting bond while we head to Garreg Mach Monastery. After all, we are students at the Officer's Academy there. At least, I hope you will head to the monastery with us."
Six shrugs. "I think that I will be traveling with you." He looks at the man on the horse and the dark green haired lady, finishing up a conversation with a man with white armor and a constant smile on his face. "As long as the others will allow me to travel with everyone."
"Yeah, I need a conversation with that one mercenary over there too." Claude responds. "It was nice to meet you though, Courier." He nods his head as he leaves, with the two others following close behind.
Six sighs as he watches the three of them go towards the dark green haired woman, as the man with the gruff beard comes up to Six.
"Hey. Byleth told me about you." The man says. "Said you helped her defend the kids."
Six looks at the man up and down. "I never did get her name, but you would be correct. I did not want to allow the raiders the chance to live any longer."
"Heh. She respected that, you know."
"Didn't show it much during the battle. But I have no place to comment on it, what with my helmet."
"Yeah, that hides everything in battle."
"But it is quite useful." Six nods his head slightly as he looks at the man. "Name's Courier Six. Your's?"
"Heh, an interesting name. My name is Jeralt. Byleth wanted you to come with us to Garreg Mach. Don't know why, but she seemed insistant." Jeralt shakes his head slightly. "Don't know what goes through her head sometimes."
Six shrugs. "The three students offered me to come along too, and besides somewhere more…central will help me."
"Have something to do?"
"...You could say that. I got lost, and I wish to return home. And I need to prepare for that." He replies, not completely honest. After all, he more needs to figure out a way home first.
"Not sure how going to the center of Fodlan will help, but I imagine you have some idea."
Six once more shrugs. "I have a framework. But thank you for offering me a spot on this trip too. Now, if you will excuse me, I do need to clean my blade."
"Yeah, I get it. See you later." Jeralt replies as he walks away.
Six shrugs as he begins trying to maintain his gear the best he can. Or, more accurately, his Bowie Knife the best he can. Until he can figure out the details of…wherever he is, he won't take any chances with showing off anything more than his basic melee tools.
Finally, Byleth comes up to Six as he is finishing up, and stares at Six. Emotionless.
"...Yes?" Six asks as he looks at his now clean knife, and slides it back into its sheath. "I don't bite, so feel free to speak anytime."
"..." She remains silent a good deal long, and then sighs. "You're weird. A weird ally. That's good."
"...Thank you?" Six replies, questioning in tone. "That…was a compliment, right?"
Byleth just nods her head, and leaves. Leaving Six in a state of confusion.
"That…was something. But at least she seems to like me…" He looks up to the night sky once more.
"I need all the help I can get here." Six thinks to himself.
