22 years later with Shikon Clan

The smell of breakfast woke the occupants of the clan house up. Izayoi Takahashi was the first up and down stairs making sure breakfast was perfect as every morning. Her mate, Toga, joined her shortly afterwards seeing if there was any way he can help his mate. She sent him to fetch the dishes they need.

Even with maids constantly at their beck and call the Shikon clan preferred to sometimes do things themselves. Cooking and setting the table were things they did often. It gave them a sense of normalcy and security.

Once the table was set and the maids began bringing out the food to the table the clan members slowly arrived. First was Izayoi's son, Inuyasha, her half demon son was almost his father's height. Towering at 6'5 with his dog ears atop his head twitching at the bustle of the morning noise. He never missed an opportunity for food, his molten eyes scanned the food, and a slight grin worked its way onto his face. As he took his seat her mates son made his way with his mate into the room. Sesshomaru and Rin, they were her children just as Inuyasha was. Sesshomaru looked like the spitting imagine of his father. Standing at 6'7 his silver hair reached his lower back. He had a crescent moon on his forehead and strips on his cheek, showing his demon heritage. Rin was about 5'2 and had shoulder length black, brown hair that fell in waves. A petite figure and big brown eyes. Izayoi felt so happy for them, finding your true mate was hard but once you did it was the best feeling ever. She wished her other son would find his.

Next was Shippo, a young fox demon Inuyasha had adopted. He had bright fiery orange hair, usually styled in a ponytail. Being so young for a demon he stood around 4'0. Inuyasha had found him a few years ago when his parents were gone and immediately took him under his wing. Shippo was technically her first grandchild. No one ever voiced their suspicions for why Inuyasha did such a thing, but they knew it had to do with over two decades ago.

The Higurashi family all came down at once. Akira and Korari greeted them as they walked into the dining room with their 10-year-old daughter, Amaya, in tow. Amaya had long black hair that reached her mid-back and dog ears atop her head. She loved how she had similar ears to her uncle Inu. After Korari's only daughter's disappearance they were heartbroken. When Korari found out she was expecting she was so happy. But never forgot about her other daughter. Her older brothers followed in after. Daichi and Souta, they had grown so much since they first entered the clan. Daichi stood at 5'9 with short black hair, brown eyes, and a muscular build. Souta stood at 5'7 with similar hair to Daichi and hazel eyes, also gaining a muscular build. They claimed it was to help protect their family, but really, they loved the attention it got them with the ladies. They had been so destroyed after their sister disappeared. When Amaya was born, they fiercely protected her. Always watching around the corner for anything that could threaten her. The little half demon could handle herself pretty well, but you never know.

Miroku and Sango came in next. Miroku at 6'2 towered over his 5'6 wife. His indigo eyes held wisdom and happiness, with his hair in a small rat tail at the nape of his neck. Sango's brown eyes shined with annoyance from her mate and his perverted ways, her long straight brown hair left down her back to flow freely. The perverted wind demon captured the demon slayers heart so long ago and they have been happily mated since. Surprisingly still no children from them but Izayoi knew they'd get there one day. After Kagome's disappearance, they stopped trying to have a child in favor of helping search. They had searched everywhere and no sign. The human police assumed she was dead, while the demon police weren't convinced. Everyone's hopes had diminished, and they fell back into their normal routine 15 years ago.

Kikyo and Naraku trailed in right after them. Kikyo was always so happy these days. Her chocolate eyes sparkled, and her straight ebony hair was in a low ponytail. Naraku had his long wavy black hair in a man bun at the back of his head. Standing at 6'3 and 5'5 they were easy to spot. Kikyo was pregnant with their first child. Only a few weeks along. It had been exciting news, and everyone was overjoyed for the two. Kikyo took it harder than everyone after Kagome disappeared. Kikyo was personal training her in her Miko abilities, Kagome had become a little sister for her. She felt like she hadn't trained Kagome enough and if she did more Kagome would have been able to fend off her father that day. Even though everyone assured her that Kagome was a toddler and snatched at an ice cream truck, Kikyo still beat herself up for not training her to sense things better.

The entire Shikon clan present for breakfast and food on the table, they all dug in. Chatting amongst each other about little things here and there. Until Toga and Akira nodded to each other and cleared their throats for the attention of the clan.

"In a few weeks Akira and I will go to Kyoto to check on the branch over there and see how it's coming along." Toga declared. "Obviously Inuyasha and Sesshomaru are expected to come with, but we were wondering if everyone would like to come, and we make a mini vacation out of it?"

Immediately the entire clan perked up and was excited about taking a vacation. Everyone professed their agreement at the same time.

"I heard they have an interactive demon museum for kids! Dad, can we please go to it while we're there!?" Shippo asked Inuyasha, his adoptive father.

Inuyasha smiled at his adopted son and nodded.

"That sounds excellent sweetie." Izayoi commented.

"We should stop by Bankotsu's restaurant while we're there! He told me he hired two new managers, and the place has been thriving since." Korari added.

Murmurs of agreement followed. They loved Bankotsu's family restaurant 'Shikon'. He had renamed it after the clan because of the help they had provided in getting it set back up and running. When Bankotsu first arrived at Ashi Corp, he was barely making it. His parents had just passed away and his restaurant, Banryu at the time, was falling apart. When they found out about this they went there and the food was divine, they decided to help get it back up and running. At the grand reopening Bankotsu announced the name change. The Shikon clan was deeply moved by this and usually visited once a month. Since Christmas was approaching and the release of their new computers for their tech department, they hadn't been able to visit the restaurant.

Plans were made and set. This would be a mini vacation they all needed. Christmas time was always too hectic for them, it would be great to get some relaxation and peace.

Three weeks later

The Shikon clan arrived in Kyoto on their private jet and made their way to the hotel. Once they got to the hotel everyone went to their respected rooms and began to unpack.

"Runt, stop jumping on the bed you are going to fall." Inuyasha growled out.

"But DAD I'm bored! I want to go out and see Kyoto! I wanna visit the museum I was telling you about!" Shippo cried out as he plumped down on the bed.

Inuyasha had gotten used to Shippo thinking of him and calling him dad. It was weird at first, but Shippo had told him, he's basically his father now and he's extremely grateful. He was alone and scared when Inuyasha found him. He took him back to the clan house, fed, and bathed him. Shippo reminded him so much of Kagome, he wasn't about to let another child be hurt when he could stop it. Soon after Shippo began calling him dad, Inuyasha had realized Shippo was indeed like his son. Without a mate and no sign of one coming anytime soon, he never considered having pups or that he'd be a father. Shippo was still just a kit though, only 100 years old, he needed a mother. But Inuyasha was not going to entertain that thought, without his true mate there was no point in being with a woman. Sure, he's had flings and quite a few romps in the hay but nothing serious. There were enough females in the clan for Shippo to have a form of an aunt.

Sighing to himself, he told Shippo to get dressed and they would spend the day at the park before he had to go to the meeting with his father, brother and Akira. Shippo excitedly got ready and told Inuyasha to see if Amaya could come with so he wouldn't be alone, since Inuyasha damn sure wasn't going to play with him. Huffing he made his way to Akira and Korari's room.

"Yash, what's going on?" Akira greeted once he opened the door.

"I'm taking Shippo to the park and he wanted to see if Amaya could come with." Inuyasha replied.

"Of course, take Souta and Daichi with you, they are in their room stuck to those video games they need some fresh air." Akira replied. With that Inuyasha set to the boy's room. Inuyasha long ago got used to taking the boys with him whenever Amaya tagged along. At first, he thought it was because of what happened with Kagome. After a long discussion with Korari, Akira and his parents, they explained they didn't blame him at all, and that Isamu would have gotten Kagome one way or another. The boys were just overprotective of Amaya since they were too young to help Kagome.

After stopping in the boy's room and inviting them to the park, Inuyasha made his way back to his room to make sure Shippo was ready. Opening the door, Shippo sat on the bed glaring at him before saying "Finally dad you took forever!"

Rolling his eyes with a "Keh!" Inuyasha and Shippo made their way to the park with the others in tow.

The last few days had been hectic for the Shikon clan. After checking on the Kyoto branch and finalizing a few things in several very very long meetings, the clan was finally able to get to 'Shikon' for a meal. They didn't tell Bankotsu when they were coming, they wanted to see how these new managers really were without him warning them to be on their best behavior.

Toga made sure everyone was ready and they made their way to the restaurant in two limos. Arriving they had seen how busy it was, but the hostess quickly recognized them and made sure a table big enough for all of them was ready immediately.

Several tables pushed together to fit the big group, they sat in the following order: Toga, Izayoi, Inuyasha, Shippo, Daichi, Souta, Korari, Amaya, Akira, Miroku, Sango, Naraku, Kikyo, Rin and Sesshomaru next to his father. The hostess provided them menus and told them their server would be right with them.

"Those new managers really must be something special. Look at how marvelous this place is! I've never seen it so busy." Korari commented.

"Yes indeed, I can't wait to meet them!" Izayoi added.

"I just hope the food is still good, who knows if those new managers decided to switch things up." Inuyasha grumbled.

"Oh, son stop I'm sure they wouldn't do that. One of them is Bankotsu's lover I hear." Toga told him.

Inuyasha just Keh'd to himself and went back to looking at his menu, when the most delightful scent reached his nose. Jasmine, vanilla and coconut invaded his senses. He breathed in deeply and his eyes flashed red.

'Mate' his demon growled within him. But one thing troubled Inuyasha's mind, this scent was familiar to him.

The other demons at the table immediately noticed this and perked up. Excited Inuyasha found his mate. Shippo was excited cause this meant he would finally be getting a mother. Amaya wanted her uncle Inu to be happy and seeing him finding his mate, she knew he'd be happy. The rest of the demons froze as the scent reached them. They knew this scent. Akira could never forget that scent. That was the scent of his lost daughter. His daughter he got upon marrying Korari. He glanced her briefly; she had no idea.

"Good evening, my name is Kagome I'll be your waitress this evening. Can I get you started on any drinks while you look over the menu?" She politely greeted.

All occupants looked up at her intently. There before them was Kagome. The little girl that had gone missing over two decades ago.

Korari looked with wide eyes. This was her daughter she knew it. The hazel eyes with small flecks of blue. The button nose, her raven hair that looked almost blue thrown into high ponytail with a few tendrils framing her face, this was her daughter. Shocked she never thought she'd find her, she felt tears brimming in her eyes. Her mate squeezed her hand under the table and gave her a reassuring smile before his eyes went to Kagome.

A few minutes passed and Kagome began to look a little uncomfortable. So, Toga decided to announce "Hello, I am Toga Takahashi, and this is my clan. May we get some water to start."

With that Kagome smiled and walked off to fetch their water. Once she was out of sight everyone turned to each other.

"Oh my gosh, that's KAGOME. It has to be her." Rin exclaimed.

"It definitely was her scent." Sesshomaru added.

"I don't understand. We searched here years ago, and she wasn't here. When did she get here? Was she hiding under our noses the entire time?" Akira asked.

"I don't care sweetie. She's back and that's all that matters." Korari smiled at her mate.

"She looks so grown up. She's a woman. She's not that little girl we knew so long ago." Kikyo added.

"She still wears the clan necklace I noticed. I'm curious as to what she went through." Sango said.

"Sis is back and that's all that matters. The only problem now is explaining everything to her. I highly doubt Isamu told her anything." Daichi spoke.

"Well, she's Inuyasha's future mate. She's not getting away now that we found her." Souta added.

"I'm not sure who this woman is to you guys, but dad found his mate and I'm finally getting a mother!" Shippo exclaimed and Inuyasha smiled lightly at him.

"She has marks on her back. I could see them peeking through the top of her shirt as she walked away." Izayoi solemnly added.

"I can imagine Isamu was not kind to her. I'm intrigued to know how she got away." Miroku mentioned.

"Alright. That's enough. We found her and now we need to think of a way to speak with her without scaring her. She no longer knows any of us. We cannot simply tell her without pushing her away. We must plan this well." Toga silenced everyone. While everyone was adding in their two cents Inuyasha was stuck in his thoughts.

'I can't believe it. The little girl I lost is back. And of course, my demon claimed her. She definitely is not getting away now. I refuse to let her go after finding her.' He thought to himself.

'She's, our mate. She will not get away from us.' His demon added.

Inuyasha shook his head as Kagome came back with a glass of water for everyone. Taking a good look at her as she set the cups down, he noticed she had indeed grown up. Her short raven hair was not almost as long as his and was up in a ponytail. Her eyes still big and bright. She had full breast and a perfectly round and plump rear. Her hips full and belly flat, he could imagine her round with his child and his mate mark on her neck. Shaking that thought from his mind he continued. She was fairly short standing around 5'2 give or take an inch. Her skin milky and looked so soft. Dragging his gaze to her face, he noticed her full plump lips, he wondered if they were as soft as they looked. Kagome speaking pulling him out of his mind.

"Can I get you guys started with my appetizers?" She asked.

Toga told her they'd take one of everything for the appetizers. Before she could walk off, he spoke again.

"Miss Kagome, do you know if the mangers were in tonight?" He asked her.

Feeling extremely nervous because she thought she did something wrong, all the demons smelt the fear coming off her.

"We're friends of Bankotsu's we were hoping to meet the new managers he hired. He spoke highly of them." Akira supplied.

"Oh, of course! I am actually one of the new managers and Jakotsu, the other manger, is helping with tables as well." She replied relieved.

Shocked looks were all that met her, and Kagome began to wonder if they didn't like her. Bankotsu told her and Jakotsu about how the Shikon clan helped him out. The Takahashi and Higurashi families were powerful and influential. If they thought she wasn't good enough she could say goodbye to the life she's come to love.

"You're very young yet so talented and respectful." Korari smiled warmly and continued "we are just shocked such a fine young lady could manage the restaurant and serve. Most managers are not willing to help on the floor."

"Oh no, I was a server before I was hired here. I can't function knowing my team is struggling and I'm up in a bunch of paperwork. Jakotsu and I usually rotate to keep balance." Kagome replied.

"Are you and Jakotsu an item?" Rin questioned.

"Oh no no no! He's like my brother. I've known him most of my life. We came here together from our hometown." Kagome quickly shut down any idea of her and Jakotsu. Rin smiled and glanced at Inuyasha in response.

"Well, we would love to get to know you and Jakotsu. We'll be in town for a bit. I will call Bankotsu to set it up." Akira suggested.

"Sounds great. Let me go put your appetizers in and I'll be back to take your meal orders." And with that Kagome left the table.

The clan glanced at each other. This would be a very interesting next few days.

The Shikon clan finished their dinner adding in a few conversations with Kagome when she'd stop by to see how their meal was and refill drinks. Kagome stopped by with another man to see them off. When Toga asked for the check Kagome smiled and told him this meal was on the house.

"Please, it's on the house tonight. Bankotsu speaks very highly of you all and it was a pleasure meeting you all." Kagome smiled. "This is Jakotsu the other manger here."

"Hi, it's so nice to meet you all. I'm a huge fan of your company. Inuyasha! My you're even more handsome in person! Can I touch your ears!" Jakotsu squealed. Kagome gave him a sharp jab in the ribs reprimanding him to behave. Inuyasha looked terrified.

"I'm sorry he's a huge fan and very exhausted from today he's not thinking clearly." Kagome explained.

"Oh, Kagome please don't tell me you never thought about rubbing them after you seen them!" Jakotsu whispered to her. Her face flushed bright red.

"Yes, but you don't flat out ask!" She whispered back harshly.

Completely unaware the demons could hear their every word. Kagome and Jakotsu smiled and bid them farewell, promising to meet with them and Bankotsu before they left town. The Shikon clan said their goodbyes, surprising Kagome with tight hugs from the females.

Once back at the hotel everyone piled into Akira's room. Trying to figure out a plan to tell Kagome.

"I say we flat out tell her Korari's her mother and she was taken when she was two. Might as well rip the band aid off and deal with the repercussions afterwards." Sango stated.

"Yes, but then we risk her backing away. We have no idea what she's been through. We need to get her to open up to us first about her past before we tell her. She might be more accepting after that." Rin suggested.

"I agree with Rin. I want to know what my Babygirl has been through. I lost so many years without her. After she tells us what happened then we tell her I'm her mother and she's part of the clan. I'm not going back to Tokyo without her." Korari firmly stated.

"So, it's settled. At our lunch with them and Bankotsu we will tell her. Inuyasha I do not want you explaining the mate situation to her just yet. Let's let her process one life changing situation at a time." Toga told his son.

"I agree. Depending on what she's been through she might not react well to it." Akira added.

Inuyasha growled. "Keh! Alright!"

Back at the restaurant

Kagome was cleaning up the Shikon clans table when she noticed a stack of bills and a note lying underneath a dish. She believed Akira Higurashi was sitting there. There was $1500 there!

'I told them the food was on the house!' She thought to herself before reading the note.

'A tip for your excellent service. Thank you greatly.' - Shikon Clan

All Kagome could do was stare and reread the note over and over again. Their food was roughly $700 even with a 15% tip that would have only been about $800. Kagome knew they were wealthy, but she felt guilty accepting this kind of money. She put it on her apron and decided she would give it back when they went to lunch. She kept wondering...

'Why would they leave so much!?'
