Despite the time of night, the sky was lit up by the blaze of the castle and city below, where an armoured knight stood before a young princess, the proud warrior keeping a protective stance before the princess as he stared down a tall, menacing figure before him.

The dark being opposing the young knight held a great darkness to his appearance, his being completely clad in dark armor, which left his gleaming red eyes to be seen glowing through his helmet and staring down his foe.

"Look around you, your kingdom has fallen. Your allies have perished at my hand." The dark figure told the individual standing before the frightened princess.

Drawing his blade toward the pair, the wicked being added with a growing dread. "Surrender the princess and I will ensure a swift and painless demise."

To the words of the dark being, the knight kept his sword drawn, his eyes blazing with courage.

"I will never abandon my princess." The knight said back, just before he overlooked his shoulder and flashed the princess a noble and trusting smile, one which caused a similar smile to grace the face of the princess.

"So be it, then you shall die together!" The dark being bellowed as he brought his blade up, which was covered in a dark fire as he thrusted it down toward the knight, who was prepared to fight to the bitter end.

Shooting up from his bed and quickly waking from his dream, taking a second to catch his breath, the Digidestined of Courage, Friendship and of Miracles, Davis Motomiya wiped the dry sweat from his forehead, trying to calm himself after what he had dreamt.

"What was that?" Davis questioned himself, having had the same dream over and over again for the past five days, and it was starting to drive him crazy.

Finally adjusting himself after his dream, the maroon haired Digidestined pulled the sheets from off his body and got to his feet, before exiting his bedroom and entering the bathroom.

Turning on the tap and splashing several handfuls of water over his face, Davis looked into the mirror and sighed, wishing to forget the confusing dream and go about his day.

After all, he had a date to get to.

It had been three years since the defeat of MaloMyotismon, and life had changed for the Digidestined.

Most of the older Digidestined were now in college, along with Yolei and Ken, while Joe had started his semester at the medical college he had alway wanted to attend.

Meanwhile, Davis, Kari and TK had begun their first year of Highschool, while Cody began his final year in junior high.

And despite the changes in their lives, the Digidestined still talked, hung out, and remained as close friends, all the while continuing to protect the Digital World as necessary, though each was grateful that there seemed to be an era of peace upon the other world.

Meanwhile, after working up the courage over two years ago, Davis finally asked Kari out, not acting on a silly crush, but on his true feelings for the Digidestined of Light, and he was ecstatic when the brunette happily accepted his offer.

Growing up, Kari now saw Davis as more than a friend, and since then the two had become an inseparable couple.

While there were some worries to their relationship, both initially afraid their dating, they could lose potential friendships, with Kari afraid the close bond she shared with TK was more than he believed, the Digidestined and their Digimon partners showed nothing but support, with TK confessing that though he loved Kari, he loved her only as a close friend.

And besides, TK had been dating a girl of his own, one he had gained his own crush on, the French Digidestined, Catherine Denurve.

Focusing back on the present, and after a quick shower, Davis returned to his bedroom to change his clothing and prepare for the day ahead, this being both time he could use to spend with Kari and to look after the Digital World.

However, before leaving, Davis needed to do two things.

1: To prepare a travel sized breakfast for himself and for his girlfriend.

2: And to wake his partner up.

Turning back to the bed, Davis looked over the sleeping form of his Digimon partner, Veemon, who was sprawled upon the bed and had a goofy smile on his face.

"Gatomon... you look so beautiful..." " Veemon said through his sleep, revealing to Davis that the V marked Digimon was having another dream about the Digimon of Light.

"Let's go, Veemon. We don't want to keep Kari and Gatomon waiting." Davis called to his Digimon partner, shaking Veemon a little to break him from his slumber.

"I''m up..." Veemon said back with a small yawn as he sat up and stretched his body.

After adjusting himself to the morning, Veemon followed Davis out of the bedroom and headed for the kitchen to prepare breakfast.

Entering the room, the pair were greeted by the sight of Davis' older sister, Jun Motomiya, who was sipping a cup of tea as she twirled a pen around her fingers, figuring out the crossword within the newspaper.

Looking past Jun, Davis and Veemon saw Jun's partner, the foxy Digimon, Renamon, who was just past the couch and stretching her body in the midst of a yoga session, showing her highly disciplined side, as well as her backside.

"Good morning, Davis, and to you, Veemon." Renamon said with a kind smile, before Jun remarked. "I think this is the first time I've seen both of you up this early."

"I woke up early because I didn't want to be late for my date with Kari." Davis said in reply as he walked toward the kitchen.

"Plus, I wanted to make breakfast for Vee and myself." The Digidestined of Courage and Friendship added as he ignited the stove and set to cooking.

As he rummaged through the fridge to get the ingredients he needed to prepare his breakfast, deciding to cook up a batch of onigiri, tempura and dango, assisted by Veemon.

But looking toward Davis, concern grew within Veemon as he then asked with some concern in his voice. "By the way, Davis, still having that same dream?"

Davis nodded in reply.

"Five nights in a row. I don't know why I keep having this strange dream. It's driving me nuts." The Digidestined of Miracles said silently, making sure his sister wouldn't hear him out of worry this would concern her.

Nodding silently in reply, Veemon remained in place as he watched Davis ignite the stove, the Digimon of Miracles wishing he could aid his partner in this instance, but knew this was a mental battle Davis had to fight alone.

-Meanwhile-

Just as Davis had awoken by a continued dream which puzzled his mind, from within the Kamiya residence, the Digidestined of Light Kari Kamiya was stirring a little from her rest, her subconscious playing out a similar scene before her.

Within her dream, the brunette found herself clad in a beautiful and elegant looking pink dress, which was decorated with countless jewels, this including a golden necklace which bore a pink gem engraved with a symbol closely resembling her own Crest of Light.

Watching the scene play out through the Dream Kari's eyes, the brunette was venturing from out the castle and to the castleyard for a place to relax and to not have to focus too solely on her responsibilities.

Coming to a sudden halt however, Kari looked ahead and with a fair blush upon her face to see a knight closely resembling Davis Motomiya in the midst of training.

Clashing his sword against a wooden training dummy and delivering swift and precise shots, the princess remained silent as she watched and admired the knight's skill.

Looking the knight over, the princess smiled warmly, knowing that though he was younger than most of the knights of her kingdom, he was one of her the best warrior at her command, a true champion she had come to greatly respect.

And seeing the young man who shared a similar appearance to Davis without his chestplate on, this allowed the princess to further admire and take in his well-developed chest.

Blushing further as she checked out Davis' body, Kari broke from her stupor and approached the knight, her presence causing the Davis double to immediately cease his training and drop to one knee, showing his loyalty toward his princess.

Giggling lightly to the Davis double's continued devotion, Kari gently extended her hand, a gesture to allow her knight to return to his feet as she told him with a small seriousness. "Please, you needn't do that everytime we come into contact, Daisuke."

"I apologize, Princess Hikari, but I was raised to show my princess the respect she deserves." The knight Daisuke's said in reply, adding with a joke. "Besides, your brother, Commander Taichi, would have a fit if he heard one of his knights talk to his sister in such a manner."

Giggling again at Daisuke's joke, the laughter died down when the princess looked over Daisuke's body once again, only she could see a small scars running around his left shoulder and the right side of his chest.

Concerned, Hikari asked. "Daisuke, what happened?"

Showing embarrassment to the princess' question, Daisuke said in sheepishly in reply. "I got a little carried away with my training just before you showed up, and accidentally allowed the dummy to land in a few hits on me."

Thinking Hikari would make light of the situation, Daisuke found Hikari living up to her warm reputation as she gently set her hands on his chest, which began to glow with a faint light pink energy, causing the damage to his chest to slowly fade.

"Just promise me you'll be a little more careful. I couldn't bear it if you were harmed and I was unable to treat you." The brunette said, expressing her emotion as she remained focused upon healing Daisuke's wounds.

"I promise you, and thank you for healing my wounds, my Princess." Daisuke said in reply, before Davis' double reached up and gently set his hands upon Hikari's, the pair staring at one another and gaining a shared blush and felt as time was slowing down between them.

However, before Daisuke or Hikari could advance any further, Kari was awoken from her dream by the soft paw of her partner, Gatomon, the Digimon of Light wide awake and lightly nudging the brunette from her rest.

"Kari, it's time to wake up." Gatomon said, the Digimon of Light adding with a small smile. "Don't forget you have a date with Davis today."

Hearing this, and remembering that she did indeed have a date with her boyfriend, Kari pushed the dream, one of a few she had been having for the past few days, aside and quickly got out of bed, nearly knocking Gatomon over in the process, and rushed to the bathroom as to change out of her nightwear, take a quick shower and get ready herself for the day ahead.

"Gee, mention Davis and she goes off like a rocket." Gatomon mused as she rubbed her head.

But sighing, Gatomon couldn't help to understand Kari's feelings, the feline Digimon knowing just how sensitive and caring Davis could be, traits she often saw within her own love.

After a quick shower, and throwing on a pink top and a pair of white shorts, Kari looked at herself in the bedroom mirror, expressing confidence within herself.

The past two years have felt like a dream come true, ever since Davis asked her out once again and she accepted.

Sometime after the defeat of Malomyotismon, Davis had shown his more mature side through many different methods.

Initially, the maroon haired Digidestined stopped going out of his way to try and win Kari's attention, and instead kept some distance as to allow the brunette to make her own choices when it came to her love life.

But as the months went by, Kari found herself noticing her maroon haired friend more and more, seeing the charm, heart and strength she often dismissed as foolishness or recklessness, and started to see Davis in a new light, even growing extremely jealous when she noticed other girls flirting with him.

However, on the day Davis finally decided to ask her out once again, the brunette felt a voice within her guiding her to say yes, to give Davis a chance, and she found that she didn't regret the decision since then.

The date was better than anything Kari could imagine.

Not only had Davis taken her to one of her favorite restaurants, sparing no expense to ensure the satisfaction of the brunette, but after a romantic stroll through the park, Kari continued to see a more mature side to Davis, one which continued to intrigue her and warm her heart.

And after returning her home, Davis showed his more familiar boldness and gave Kari a deep goodnight kiss, which furthered the spark within the brunette.

"Kari!" Gatomon called to her partner, breaking her more intimate thoughts, informing the brunette. "You just received a message from Davis."

Breaking from her thoughts and looking to her partner, to see Gatomon holding her D-Terminal, Kari noticed a new message upon the screen.

Taking the device out of Gatomon's possession, Kari opened the file, which read:

Good Morning, my angel. Meet us at the usual spot in the Digital World. I hope you bring your appetite.

- Love, Davis.

Sighing happily at the private nickname he had given her, Kari and Gatomon approached the computer set upon the brunette's desk, the Digidestined of Light drawing her D-3 and focusing its energies to fill the screen.

"Digi-Port open!" She announced, her call causing the computer screen to shine brightly and to open up the portal between their world and the Digital World, where Kari and her partner were sucked in as they traveled to the Digital World and their dates.

Deep within a mountain region in Europe, an archeological site was in the midst of excavating the ruins of an old and forgotten medieval kingdom, one unlike any they had ever seen before.

During the excavation, some of the scientists found an old stone tablet, one with ancient writing on it that none could seem to come close to translation.

"Let's get a scanner on this thing, maybe the computers can translate it." One of the archeologists recommended as the group brought the object into their tent and lay it on the large scanner, where one activated the computers and turned the device on.

The moment they did so, however, the tablet lit up with a dark purple light, while all the equipment went haywire, the scientists trying to figure out what was wrong as the energy then left the tablet and entered the computer system.

Surging through the net, the energy gathering Data with it, the dark force soon entered the Digital World, crashing into a mountain region as it took form into a large host of dark beings.

"What is this...?! What are we...?!" One voice called out from the group, looking at their form and trying to understand what had happened to them.

"Where are we?!" Another let out, causing some commotion among the dark forces.

"Enough!" A loud, dark voice then shouted, silencing all as they looked to their leader, who looked out to the world before him as his eyes narrowed.

"I can sense them... They are close! Find them and bring them to me!" The Dark Leader bellowed, causing most of his forces to quickly venture out, rushing through an unfamiliar world in search of those their Master desired.

Glaring back out at the world before him, the Dark Leader then said to himself. "Finally, I will have my vengeance!"

Arriving in the Digital World, Kari and Gatomon made their way through the growing beauty of the forest, the Digidestined of Light growing with a warm smile to see many Digimon and humans now working together, the worlds seemingly united thanks to her and her fellow Digidestined.

Finally reaching the Primary Village, which had grown in size to allow young children to bond and play with the newborn Digimon, Kari and Gatomon met Davis and Veemon at their favorite spot, being a beautiful cherry tree atop a hill that allowed the perfect view of the area.

After enjoying the variety of foods Davis had prepared for everyone, the couples decided to relax, with Davis leaning against the tree, who allowed Kari to rest in his lap, the duo feeling happy and content as Davis held his arms around his girlfriend's waist.

As Davis had his arms gently wrapped around Kari, Veemon held Gatomon in a similar position, the closeness of his body causing Gatomon to nuzzle and to purr in affection.

before Davis could say anything to Kari, expressing his feeling on the atmosphere, the mood was ruined as both Digidestined then felt something, as though a dark chill heading towards them, a feeling that reminded Kari of whenever a dark presence was nearby, only this felt much darker and not like a Digimon at all.

Soon enough, Veemon and Gatomon sensed a wicked presence as the two Digimon quickly got to their feet.

Copying in Veemon and Gatomon's movements, Davis and Kari quickly shot out of the way as a dark figure which had been concealed within woods and landed before the group, drawing out a pair of sickle like blades as its glaring red eyes looked to the group.

Baring the definition of the grim reaper itself, the figure was clad in torn black robes, which ran down its body, concealing its appearance.

Grasping a pair of large sickles within each hand, the Digidestined and their partners knew this character wasn't looking for smalltalk, which caused Veemon and Gatomon to take protective stances before their partners.

"I found you... I finally found you both!" The creature said in a deep and wicked voice, followed by an insane laugh.

It was in that moment as a pain shot through Davis and Kari's heads, causing the pair to grip their heads and suddenly collapse to their knees as images flashed through their minds, images of an old kingdom burning to the ground, of the dark forces tearing it apart and attacking its inhabitants, before a brief images of a warrior resembling the being before them flashed before their eyes.

"Davis/Kari!" The Digimon cried in concern to seeing their partners in such sudden distress.

Hissing, Gatomon faced the dark being and demanded furiously. "Leave our friends alone!"

Sharing her anger as he looked over Davis' trembling form, Veemon questioned. "What did you do to them!?"

"My hand was not the cause of their pain." The dark figure replied, staring down Veemon and Gatomon, before its attention returned toward Davis and Kari. "It might appear my presence is bringing up their pasts."

The reply left Veemon and Gatomon silent, the Digimon of Miracles and of Light knowing of Davis and Kari's dreams, which they assumed was now causing their headaches, before moving in front of their partners in a defensive pose.

"Move aside, wretched beasts. I only seek them. Now get out of the way or I will end you as well!" The dark being bellowed, his blades drawn and ready to strike.

"We won't leave! We'll protect our friends, no matter what!" Veemon snapped back, the Digimon of Miracles telling the feline Digimon. "Gatomon, I need you to try and find a way and undo whatever's affecting Davis and Kari while I try my best to give you time!"

Though wary to leave Veemon alone against such an a great and terrible force, Gatomon nodded her head nonetheless, the feline Digimon wasting no time making haste toward her partner and to Davis as she tried shaking the duo awake, while the Digimon of Miracles looked to his new foe and rushed at him.

"Vee Headbutt!" Veemon yelled as he charged towards the dark entity, lunging at the being as he prepared to ram directly into the dark figure.

However, in response to Veemon's attack, the being merely brought its blades together, blocking Veemon, who did all he could to push through and strike his enemy, only for the robed individual pushed him back with a greater force, causing Veemon to crash into the cherry tree.

Glaring at Veemon, the dark figure drew his blade, staring down the Digimon of Miracles and saying. "Is that all you've can do, you wretched beast? I thought you wanted to protect them."

Though damaged, the Digimon of Miracles got back up with a growl, showing his refusal to give up when his friends needed his aid.

While Davis and Kari had ceased in their painfilled cries and fell into unconsciousness, the Digidestined of Miracles and of Light were reliving the same dream, the same moment of the Knight and his Princess against the dark armored being, watching as the dark blade moved down, striking at the pair, before both Digidestined snapped their eyes opened with a startled cry.

Adjusting to their surroundings, the pair found the concerned expression upon Gatomon's face staring down at them.

"Kari, Davis, listen. I'm glad you're awake, but right now Veemon needs our help!" Gatomon said, her words causing Davis and Kari to sit up and to see the furious form of Veemon throwing punches and doing all he could to defend his partner while trying to land a hit upon the wicked entity.

But despite his effort, the dark being continued to repel Veemon and his onslaught.

"Who are you?!" The Digimon of Courage and Friendship then asked, having never encountered such a foe before in his life.

"I am ShadowBlademon, and I will complete my mission!" The dark being said back, though found the words coming out of his mouth to feel odd.

"Now just give up so I can carry out the will of my master." ShadowBlademon then ordered, taking down Veemon yet again.

"Never..." Veemon said back, the Digimon of Miracles continuing to push himself up each time he fell. "No matter what happens, I won't let you harm Davis or Kari..."

"Davis? Kari?" ShadowBlademon asked, though confused to their identities.

"It appears it has been a while since our last conflict. No matter, your friends shall perish as they had their past lives." The blade wielder then declared with wickedness in his voice.

But drawing his blade, ShadowBlademon was forced to defend himself as Gatomon rushed from the side and delivered a great and powerful kick.

Pushed back from Gatomon's attack, the feline Digimon laned beside Veemon, just before Davis and Kari hurried behind their partners, the Digidestined of Miracles and of Light returning to battle.

"I don't know what you are talking about, but I won't let that happen!" Davis declared, before the maroon haired Digidestined looked over to his partner and added "Sorry for making you wait, Vee. Now let's show this freak what happens when they mess with both of us!"

The shared dedication between Davis and Veemon had a great effect as Davis' D-3 started to glow with a great golden light.

Drawing his D-3 and looking his Digivice over, Davis saw the screen bearing the Crest of Miracles, which told him Mangamon's power was once again at his command.

"Golden Armour Energize!" Davis declared as he accessed the Digi-egg of Miracles, giving its power to Veemon once again.

"Veemon Golden Armour Digivolve to... Magnamon!" Magnamon announced with a similar might expressed through his partner.

Standing face to face with ShadowBlademon, the menacing creature felt confused at the sight of Veemon's Digivolution.

But remaining focused on his goals, ShadowBlademon then said. "I have no idea what you are, but stay out of my way, repulsive creature!"

"Who are you calling repulsive, ugly! He's handsome!" Gatomon called out in anger, the Digimon of Light expressing her love for the Digimon of Miracles, before blushing as she realized what she had just yelled out.

Though flattered a little to Gatomon's praise, Magnamon remained focused, his love set aside as he prepared to confront ShadowBlademon once again.

"Time to show you my full strength!" Magnamon declared as he charged towards ShadowBlademon, bringing his fist, which began to glow with golden light, up to strike his foe.

"Magna Punch!" The Digimon of Miracles then announced as he swung his fist to deliver a powerful right hook, only for ShadowBlademon to dodge with unbelievable speeds, putting Magnamon on edge as he tried to land a strike on his foe.

Watching the battle and seeing ShadowBlademon able to keep up with Magnamon's speed and power, Gatomon faced Kari, telling the Digidestined of Light. "Kari, I need to help him."

Nodding in reply, Kari drew her D-3 forward, the pure energies within reflected from the screen and coursed through Gatomon's body.

"Gatomon Digivolve to... Angewomon!" The Digimon of Light then announced, her tone of elegance and might as the angelic Digimon made her presence known.

And setting herself for battle, Angewomon rushed over, joining Magnamon.

"What kind of magic is this?!" ShadowBlademon questioned as he looked upon the angelic being before him, before shaking his head as he then declared. "It doesn't matter if you change forms you won't stop to finish my mission!"

Moving to strike both Magnamon and Angewomon with his blades, ShadowBlademon was caught by surprise as Magnamon blocked his attack through his wrist armor, before the Digimon of Miracles looked back at Angewomon and called out. "Now!"

Leaping from behind ShadowBlademon, Angewomon gathered light into her hands, forming a bow and arrow.

"Celestial Arrow!" The Digimon of Light then declared, casting forth the arrow of light toward ShadowBlademon, who groaned as the light energies struck against his being.

"Damn you!" ShadowBlademon yelled in pain as he turned and swung his blade at Angewomon, who quickly flew back to avoid the attack.

"Magna Punch!" Magnamon then followed up, delivering a powerful right uppercut to the dark being, sending him flying back with a loud cry, before groaning as he slowly returned to his feet and glared to see Angewomon land beside the Digimon of Miracles, with Davis and Kari right behind them and sharing the determination of their partners.

Seeing that he was up against enemies he had no information on, ones guarding his prey with more effort than he liked to admit, ShadowBlademon found the best tactic for him was to retreat for the time being, where he yelled at the group before them. "This isn't over, it has only begun!"

ShadowBlademon's body then turned into a dark mist, which shot back into the forests, this leaving the Digidestined and their partners confused as to what they just fought.

Seeing their foe retreat, Magnamon and Angewomon reverted back to their normal forms, with the Digimon of Miracles drained further after harnessing the power which came from the Digi-egg of Miracles and De-Digivolved back to DemiVeemon, while the angelic Digimon returned to Gatomon, who, after landing to her feet with a continued grace, picked up the In-Training Level Digimon in her arms and carried him over to his partner.

Though enjoying the warm embrace of the feline Digimon, DemiVeemon had to question. "What was that?"

Sharing the concern DemiVeemon expressed, Gatomon added. "I've never seen a Digimon like that before."

"I don't know." Davis then said, before the maroon haired Digidestined added with a serious tone. "But something about him feels... familiar, and I don't like it."

It was then that the Digidestined of Miracles' D-Terminal went off, this causing Davis to remove it from his jacket pocket and opening it to see Gennai contacting them, causing him to open the screen.

"Davis, Veemon, Kari, Gatomon, are you alright?" The Digital Human asked with a clear concern in his voice, causing Davis to nod his head in reply.

"Yeah, we just had a run in with a very strange Digimon." Davis said back as Kari and their partners moved around him.

"It's not just you, the entire Digital World is under siege by a dark force." Gennai then informed the group and added with a serious tone. "Head for my house. I've already contacted the others to meet you there."

Nodding their heads, the two Digidestined and their partners headed off to the residence of the Digital Being, Davis, Kari, DemiVeemon and Gatomon all wondering what was going on, and how their dreams seemed to be connected to this conflict.

Back at the mountain crater the dark forces emerged from, the dark leader listened as ShadowBlademon explained his encounter with their foes, of the beings of this world, and what they had seemingly been turned into.

"It doesn't matter who or what stands in our way, I will have their heads!" The dark being declared.

Patience, my Lord." A dark , yet feminine voice then said, this grabbing the dark leader's attention as he looked to his advisor, seeing her looking over the dark pit formed by their return, as well as the dark energy that seemed to be forming from it.

"Time is on our side. We must grow, learn of our new powers, and use them for the Dark Night to come." The being said, before raising her arms as a dark energy emerged from her being, this causing the ground around them to break, grow and reshape.

Soon, the dark forces found themselves within a newly built fortress, one they would use to launch their campaign upon this world and find their prey.

Seeing this, the dark leader smiled, knowing that after so long, vengeance would be his.
