Note: Yeah, even I thought I wouldn't write another Christmas themed fic this year. But at the last minute, this idea came to me, and the words just started flowing out!
Hope you enjoy this cozy fic.
Christmas had come once again. And for the 1st time in a few years, the OSP team was fully reunited.
After a harrowing rescue mission in Morocco, Callen and Sam, and a few other good friends, found Hetty and brought her home. After a little while, she returned to her desk at work, and the Admiral had left OSP to reconcile with his son and ex wife.
Fatima and Roundtree had started dating and were spending the holidays with their families.
And the best part: Eric and Nell had decided to spend Christmas in LA and were helping out at the office. So the original team were back together, and it felt like old times. With a few exceptions. Like Callen now being married to Anna and having to spend Christmas with her father, and Kensi and Deeks expecting their 1st child.
At the office, 3 days before Christmas
'A few weeks left to go now, how are you feeling?' Hetty asked.
'Oh you know, feeling and looking like a huge blimp, feet looking like mushrooms, always having the urge to pee, yeah. I'm gonna be quite relieved when this is over!' Kensi replied, getting a box of decorations.
'And how is Mr. Deeks doing these days?'
'Well, he finally put up the nursery, after much trial and error. Right now, he's currently trying to install the baby seat in the car, which isn't going so well last I heard.'
'Ah. I know that feeling. I tried to take on out of the car once, and I doubt even an engineer could easily take that stupid thing out! (chuckle).' Hetty chuckled.
Kensi chuckled as well. Then immediately felt something drip down her pants. She looked down, and there was water coming down.
'Ohhhhhhhh no. No! This can't be what I think it is!' She exclaimed.
'Looks like I need to get you to the hospital, it looks like your baby is coming early!' Hetty replied.
'It's too early! Ow ow ow ow…'
'Babies come when they come, dear. Come, I'll get you there quickly, call Mr. Deeks!'
Deeks had gone to the store to get food when he saw he was gonna be stuck in a traffic jam for a while. Then his phone rang.
'Yello?'
'My water broke.' said Kensi.
Stunned. 'Wait, you mean….'
'Yes! It's coming early!'
'But, but how can that be?! I haven't even gotten the car seat installed yet! And heavens know we need a lot more diapers, formula, toys, what about toys!' Deeks nervously rambled.
'WE HAVE PLENTY OF ALL THOSE AND WILL GET MORE IF WE NEED TO, ow ow ow!'
'Okay okay, obviously wrong thing to say! I'm kind of stuck in a traffic jam right now, can you manage to hold off on giving birth until I can get there?'
'Deeks! Babies don't wait around! You better be there!' Kensi demanded.
'Okay I'll try! Uhhh, take care of yourself, and I'll be there as soon as I can!'
Thanks to Hetty's stuntman like driving (and some very creative words to a rude horn honker along the way), she got Kensi to the hospital in no time flat.
'I'll let the others know we're here, and I'm sure Mr. Deeks will be here very soon.' She said, trying to keep kensi calm.
'Well he better!' Kensi sternly said, right before another contraction hit.
Later, in the waiting room.
'How is she?' Callen asked when he got there with Anna.
'She's doing fine. Baby should be here in possibly another hour or so, from what I heard.
'And Deeks? Where is he?' Sam asked.
'Last I heard, stuck in a traffic jam at the grocery store. Hopefully he finds some fast way to get here.'
'That might not be a problem. Eric got a call from him earlier, and he just took off. Maybe he'll bring him here.' Nell said.
'Do we want to know how Mr. Money Bags might go about doing that?' Sam asked.
'Ummmm…'
Just then, a loud roar of a motorcycle rumbled outside.
'Am I late? Has it already happened?! Oh gosh she'll never forgive me if I missed this!' Deeks rambled when he ran into the waiting room.
'You haven't missed it, go right into her room ahead.' Hetty replied.
Deeks did exactly that.
'Wait, since when did you get a motorcycle?' Sam asked.
'Got it a couple of years ago! Turns out, I have this epic need of speed that only Stella out there can fulfill!' Eric happily replied.
'Oh gosh, he named it. We have another weirdo who names his means of transportation.' Callen mockingly replied.
'Seriously, your bike is a girl?! Who does that?! And please tell me you haven't gotten in any accidents with that thing.'
'No need to worry about that. I make sure Stella is always kept in a safe place where he can only get to it when I'm 100% he won't try to injure himself while on a ride.' Nell rang in.
'Uh yeah, which is seemingly never!' Eric replied.
'Hey, just trying to keep you alive here, dear!'
'She has hung out with Hetty way too much.' Sam muttered.
Just then, the doctor came out, giving them the word that it wouldn't be long now before the baby was born. Everyone then decided to sit down and wait.
'Just think G, a year from now, this could be you waiting on your 1st child!' Sam said.
'Getting ahead of yourself, eh?' Anna replied.
'What? You mean to tell me you 2 haven't even tried yet? You've been married for half a year now!'
'Someone sounds a wee bit too interested in our bedroom life.' Callen snickered.
'I'm not. I just would've thought that you 2 might have wanted to rush things along given our dangerous jobs.'
'Is that the best you got? You sure it's not because you want little kids around to call you Uncle Sam in the next few years? You're already getting one, you know.'
'Ooh, snap!' Eric rang in.
Sam then walked off in a huff to the vending machine.
'He's been teasing me about little lower case G's for a few years now. He's just slightly impatient.' Callen finished.
Then the doctor came out, announcing that a beautiful, healthy baby girl had been born, and that the parents were both doing fine.
'Can we go see them?' Callen asked.
'Of course!'
And so they all went in, both parents beaming with pride.
'Did your husband by any chance faint at some point from all the excitement or blood? I've heard that sometimes happens.' Callen asked.
'Ha ha ha. Though I'll admit, I was getting a bit scared there towards the end.' Deeks replied.
'Hey what about me? I'm the one who did all the heavy lifting!' Kensi asked.
'Whoops. Uh, you did great! Extraordinary even. The way you handled all that pushing and breathing was remarkable!'
Kensi rolled her eyes in amusement.
'She's so beautiful! What are you thinking of naming her?' Eric asked.
'Where's Hetty? She was in the waiting room.' Kensi asked.
'Oh, she went to the bathroom, she'll be here in a bit.' Callen replied.
'Well, Deeks and I gave it a lot of thought. And we think it'll be best, if we name our baby, Henrietta.'
Everyone was silent. And none was more stunned then Hetty, who was standing in the doorway!
'Did, I just hear that right? Why?' She asked.
'Well, because we know your name's meaning is a very powerful one, and we wanted to give our baby a name with a strong meaning attached to it. And, we thought that after all you've been through the last 2 years, and given that you were the one who brought us together, we felt it'd be our wonderful tribute to you.' Deeks replied.
Hetty was really stunned. 2 of her best agents doing this for her, after she was absent for so long?
'We love you, and, that's about all I have right now.'
Hetty then went right over and gave Deeks a big hug.
'Thank you, I love it!' She said in gratitude.
'Would you like to hold her?' Kensi asked.
And Hetty did. Eric even started to tear up!
'It's so beautiful!' He blubbered.
'Oh brother.' Sam eye rolled.
As it would turn out, there was another miracle in store. On Christmas Eve, Anna gave Callen his present, which was a pregnancy test.
'Wait, does this mean…'
'Yes it does!' Anna happily replied. They were going to have their 1st child that next summer!
It was the happiest Christmas they had had in a long time. Everyone was together and happy, and no one was overseas or missing.
On Christmas Day, Hetty ventured out to see her old friend, who was buried in that beautiful valley.
'Merry Christmas, Owen. Boy, do I have a lot to tell you about what's happened in the last few days!'
Endnotes: Yeah, I just wanted the OG team members to have their own Christmas again. And while I have zero clue as to where the show's timeline was at when it ended, I like to think just for the sake of this story that Kensi would've been close to giving birth around Christmas. (and yes, for sentimental reasons, I like to dream about their 1st kid being named after either Hetty or Owen!).
I miss this show, in my own ways. And I sincerely hope that next year, there will be answers in 1 of the NCIS's to what happened in Morocco. Because Hetty deserves her happy ending.
Merry Christmas!
