The Last War Maiden

VRDTrio does not own Harry Potter, or Madan no ou to Vanadis (Lord Marksman and Vanadis for those who don't know which Anime I'm listing)

AN: Hey guys! For those who are following me as an author on the site, I know this isn't the next chapter of my Main fanfic, Fate Re-Written, but I had hit a bit of writers block on it, as I said in the author's note that went up just shortly before I posted and told you about this fic. I had the idea for a Harry Potter/Lord Marksman fan fiction pop into my head one day as I was watching some anime to try and chill out after a stressful day, and decided to try it out. so with out anything else to be said, let's get on with the story!

Platform 9 3/4, London/Hogwarts Express September 1, 1991

Elaina Lily Potter sat with her back to the window of her train compartment, her legs taking up the seat. Next to her sat a couple purple wrapped objects that she carried everywhere with her since she was six. Her eyes were closed as she thought about how she got here.

Years beforehand, her parents had been murdered by the Dark Lord Voldemort. After being dropped off at her Aunt Petunia's, she was left by the magical world, except for a small contingency plan set in place by her Aunt. Petunia, though she hated magic because it took her sister from her, could not transfer that hatred to her niece. The same could not be said for Vernon and Dudley Dursley. While Petunia cared for her niece, she couldn't protect her by herself, especially after Elaina had turned five. Vernon got drunk one night before coming home after being passed up for a promotion at work, and lashed out at Elaina, taking a knife, and giving her a nasty cut from her wrist to her elbow. Petunia rushed Elaina to the Hospital, and said that her niece had been attacked by a drunk on the street. As much as she wanted to, she couldn't put Vernon in jail. She had tried when he smacked Elaina with a frying pan, but Albus Dumbledore intervened, stating that he needed them to keep her confidence 'beaten down for the Greater Good.' That cut would leave a scar, one Elaina would cover with an elbow length glove. Having had enough, Petunia took Elaina to Sherwood Forest, gave her a backpack with food, a hug, and told her to run, and not look back.

Elaina had done as she was told, not questioning her auntie, as she was the only family that Elaina had known. During her running, she ran into an old building in the forest. It looked like it had seen better days, but it was getting dark, so she entered the building. as she moved about the house, the floor gave way as she made her way into what looked to be the sitting room. Falling into the basement, she screamed, and started to float down. Upon the soft landing, she looked about confused, until a light burst into being, a couple flames near a pedestal. On the pedestal was a book, a black bow, a strange looking sword, and a long pole of some kind. Curious as a kid she was, she touched the book, only for the book to shine a bright light. That book awoke her long dormant bloodlines, bloodlines that originated from another world. Two things happened after that. A rift in space-time depositing three people on the ground behind Elaina, and the head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement arriving with three auroros.

Over the next five years, Ealaina learned that the weapons were once owned by her ancestors, and that they had been transported to this world by a rift in space-time, muck like her aunties Limalisha and Titta, and her Uncle Rurick. She even was given a new home with the woman who should have been raising her all along, her godmother Amelia bones. With the help of her Auntie Lim and Uncle Rurick, she learned the art of battle, finding out that her bloodline's had been enchanted since the time of the founders. She had an innate gift to know how to wield their weapons, less said that she was the only one who could. While she had the innate ability to use them to their fullest, she did not have the training, which her aunt and uncle took to helping her get. Amelia taught Elaina how to be a lady of a most ancient and noble house, much like she taught Susan Bones, Ameilia's niece. Elaina had asked about her Aunt Petunia at one point, only to learn that she had passed in a car accident a month after she had told Elaina to run.

Elaina's features also changed over the years. Thanks to getting some medical treatment at St. Mungos, her scar now only stretched a few inches from her wrist. Her Hair had gone from the pitch black of her father's to a more silver color, with red and light blue stripes in her bangs. Her eyes remained the emerald color her mother had.

She was brought out of her thoughts as the compartment door opened just as the train had left the station. looking up, she saw her two best friends, Susan Bones and Hannah Abbott. She smile and waved as they put Hannah's trunk up on the rack next to Susan's.

"I'm sorry about the wait, Elen. It took a few minutes to find Hannah." Susan looked sheepish as she spoke.

"I'm not sure I buy that." Elaina teased. "You most likely stopped to say hello to Neville on the way back."

"Well can you blame us?" Hannah spoke. "He may be your god-brother from your other godmother, but he is my crush."

"I know, I know. I'm just teasing. I won't be able do so very often if we end up in different houses." Elaina waved off the jokes. "Jokes aside, any idea what house you'll be in?"

"The two of us are most likely going to be in Hufflepuff or Gryffindor, yet you could be in either Hufflepuff or Gryffindor, Elen."

"I know I'm going to the Lion's den. Dumbledore will likely use some sort of trick to force me into the Lion's den if I was sorted anywhere else. He seems to think that I will be an easy target to control. Trying to do so will cost him dearly." Elaina smirked as she looked over at her friends. The door to the compartment was opened in a forceful manner by a red headed boy about their age. He looked about before he made eye contact with Elaina.

"Mind if I join you? Everywhere else is full." He spoke out.

"I don't advise telling lies like that. This train is magically charmed to always have enough room for everyone." Elaina started to frown. "You are searching for someone. do tell us who and we might consider letting the lie slide."

"Not that it is any of your business, but I'm searching for Elaina Potter. Prof. Dumbledore said she wouldn't have any knowledge of our world, so he asked my mum and I to try to help her out at the station, but we didn't see her."

"Well you found me, but I have plenty of knowledge of our world. I have been learning about my place in it since I was six, with the help of my godmother." Elaina closed her eyes, her frown evident on her face.

"Then can you move your legs so I can have a seat?" He asked.

"Susan, I have a headache. Please let him know what to do before I have to get up." Elaina then stayed quiet as she listened to her closest friend tell the boy to leave.

"I apologize if it seems rude, but this is a girls only compartment. Please kindly leave and find a seat elsewhere. I am sure some of the other first years would let you join them, but we would like to be left to ourselves."

"I don't have to listen to some bint like you. Why would Elaina want to talk with you when she could talk to someone more on the side of the light. Get lost, you dumb birds." He yelled angrily.

Elaina took exception to that, opening her eyes as she grabbed one of the wrapped objects, and jabs it into his stomach, sending him stumbling into the corridor. "You were asked to leave nicely, and refused. You have now been removed with force. Leave." Elaina slammed and locked the door. She kept it locked until he left after ten minutes of trying to force the door open. Afterwards, she sat back down, and closed her eyes to take a nap, as Susan and Hannah talked quietly.

Hogsmead Station/Hogwarts September 1, 1991

Elaina woke up from her nap thirty minutes prior to the train arriving at the station. After changing into her school robes, she unwrapped the objects next to her, and strapped the sword that was in one to her back. when Susan turned around after changing, she frowned.

"Elen, why did you bring Arifar and Levias? You know Titta is going to freak out when she discovers that you brought them to school with you, let alone Aunt Ami." Susan chastised Elaina.

"Like you and I have room to talk,Sue." Hannah spoke out. "You have your collapsable spear attached to your leg under your skirt, much like I have my daggers."

"Besides, thanks to the goblins doing a blood test on me, we know I am the last of the bloodlines of two Zchted War Maidens, as well as the only one who can wield these weapons."Elaina spoke as she picked up Levias, Arifar firmly strapped to her back. Auntie lim taught us the ways of combat, while also instilling in me the fact that a War Maiden should carry her weapon with her at all times. Also you seem to have forgotten that I was given permission to carry them from Prof. McGonagall, who is the deputy headmistrsess."

"That's true. I just hope you don't get in too much trouble for carrying them." Susan sighed as she relented the teachings of Limalisha that were ingrained into the three of them over the last five years.

After getting off the train, the three followed a giant of a man to some boats, where they ended up in the same boat as a girl with bushy hair.

"You know you shouldn't have weapons on you. It's against the rules. I know all of them by memory and can tell you that you will either face suspension, or expulsion." The girl spoke out when she caught sight of Arifar.

"I'm afraid you don't know quite as much about them then. I have special permission from the deputy headmistress due to a unique part of my family history." Elaina responded with a smile. "While we are talking about things, mind introducing yourself?"

"I'm Hermione Granger, and you are?" Hermione's tone stood out to the girls as bossy.

"Three witches who are about to keep you from making enemies of most of the school. My name is Elaina, these are my friends Hannah and Susan. Try not to boss others about, it will only lead to isolate yourself. We are able to read the school books ourselves, and don't need them shoved down our throats by someone our age." Elaina lectured the girl as the boats moved across the lake. "We can be your friends, but you have to not think that everyone is going to just do as you tell them to. Kids our age are less likely to listen to something when it is being told to them by someone their own age."

"But Everyone has to follow the rules or it isn't fair to others."

"Hermione, most of the pureblood families, especially the ones that run in dark circles like the Death Eaters from the last war, don't do fair. Expect some of our classmates to have been taught magic by their parents" Hannah spoke as she dipped her fingers in the water. "Dumbledore made it so our side was only allowed to use stunning spells. The death Eaters would just revive their stunned allies and kill our people, especially the muggleborns. Then when the war was over, he bought into the Imperius defense and let the Death Eaters that claimed it off with a slap on the wrist. They still do things they aren't supposed to, including bribery, thievery, and murder, but the minister lets them due to being 'upstanding citizens."

As the girls explained things to Hermione, bringing her into their circle of friends, they arrived at the castle. Being led up to the Great Hall, they were greeted by Prof. McGonagall. She gave them a simple speech, before having the entirety of the first years form two lines. Leading them into the hall, they were led to a stool near the front. When they got there, the hat on the stool started to sing. It described all the houses, and made a joke about being in safe hands since it didn't have any. At that point, McGonagall started to call names.

"When I call your name, please step forward. I am going to apologize, normally this list is in alphabetical order by last name, but it seems to be organized by first names this year." McGonagall spoke before reading the names. Going through the list, it quickly came to the letter E, and Elaina was prepared. "Elaina Potter!"

Elaina stepped forward hearing whispers as she did so due to both her looks, and the weapons she carried with her. Upon taking a seat on the stool, the hat was lowered onto her head. "Ah, such a sharp mind you have. Your instincts are also very good young war maiden. You can relax a bit, while I've never seen mental barriers of ice and wind before, they can't stop me. I was enchanted to get through any Occlumency carrier, even those of a master, to be able to sort someone into the right house. You seem to be aware that the headmaster would try something to place you in his choice of house. Normally I would put you in Ravenclaw, for you are quite the intelligent one, but alas, you are correct on the compulsion charms to make me place you in GRYFFINDOR!" The hat shouted out.

As she took the hat off her head, she heard the headmaster speak. "Miss Potter, stay behind with Prof. McGonagall after the feast. She will lead you to my office." Dumbledore said as he twinkled his eyes, not noticing the darkening look on the young war maiden's face. She had a feeling she knew what this meeting would be about.

The sorting ceremony took thirty minutes after that, all three of the other girls in Elaina's group being sorted into Gryffindor. When Susan and Hannah were asked why, they had told the hat that they were her personal guards, as it asked why they did not want to leave her side. The rude red haired boy from the train, now known to the girls as Ronald Weasley, was sorted into Gryffindor as well, and tried to force his way into the seat on either side of Elaina, which was currently occupied by Susan and Hannah. When that failed, he went around the table and shoved Hermione over. all four girls proceeded to ignore him for the rest of the evening, especially due to his lack of table manners and rude questions. Elaina had heard him ask to be shown her scar, the one that made her famous, and if she remembered what 'You-Know-Who' looked like. She made it a point to ask if her head of house could put some kind of spell on the boy to keep him from talking with his mouthful at the very least.

After the feast, Elaina, Susan and Hannah told Hermione that they would catch up to her later as they went to meet up with Prof. McGonagall to head to the Headmaster's office. When the other two told the professor that they were there as support to keep Elaina calm and would not leave her side, the Scottish woman relented. She could see in their eyes the determination to stand by their friend like the ancient celtic warriors her clan was descended from. Leading the three to the headmaster's office, all of them were surprised to see the greasy haired professor from the other side of the table standing beside the headmaster.

"Ah, Elaina my girl, please have a seat." Dumbledore motioned to the single chair opposite his chair. "Minerva, you may go to see the other two to their common room."

"I don't think so." Elaina spoke out. "The head of house, which in this case is Prof. McGonagall, is required to be present in any meeting between the headmaster and a student. The other two are here mainly as moral and emotional support for me, as I have a feeling I know exactly what you are wanting to ask." The greasy haired professor sneered after she said that.

"Very well then. I need for you to relinquish those weapons into my care, as students are not allowed to carry them, and they are much too powerful to be in the left in the hands of a child."

"Not happening. I was given special permission to carry them due to the facts of my own bloodline. Also there is the fact that no one else can wield them due to those same facts I just mentioned. Let's move on to the real reason you called me here."

"Arrogant little brat. You're just like your father, thinking you are better than those around you." The greasy man growled out.

"She never got to know her parents, thanks to that Halloween night ten years ago." Susan snapped out. "I don't care if you are a teacher or not, act your age. You are obviously holding a grudge against a dead man."

"Susan is right, you need to grow up." Hannah calmly spoke.

"Let's calm down. Since you asked to move on to the real reason, it is because as your magical guardian, I have to return you to your family for a week. I'm sure the Dursleys have missed you for the last five years you weren't at home." Dumbledore tried to diffuse the argument.

"I don't believe that one bit. The only family I had in that house was my Antie Tunia, and she passed away five years ago." Elaina glared at the old man. "You could try to say that her son is my family and would keep me safe due to some kind of magic, but I refuse to call him or his father family. I will not go back to the two who would abuse me every chance they got. I swear this to you now, as the last of the bloodlines of Two Zchted War Maidens, I am never going back there. That house was never my home. My home is with my godmother and rightful Magical Guardian, Amelia Bones. I do not advise trying to control me. The winds are changing throughout the Magical world. Will you change with them? Or will you be left frozen behind to keep playing your game of chess?" With her words said, Elaina turned and left the Headmaster's office, Susan and Hannah right on her heels.

AN: And that is where I will end the chapter. Did you enjoy it? Please leave a review telling me what you thought! If it's good, I'd like to write even more of it for you to read. I'll still work on my other Harry Potter Crossover, don't wory about that, though I would like to know your thoughts on this story as well.

VRDTrio, signing out for now.
