Welcome to D'awwcember, the antidote to Ouchtober. All of these prompts are taken from storiesofsvu on tumblr but where they are doing theirs as a bingo, I've just decided to do all of them. There are not enough prompts for every day of December this time though so I will be taking a break over the actually holidays themselves. These prompts will mostly centre around Jake/Rose again but will have a happy ending

Prompt: First Snowfall

Chapter content warnings: none?

Don't forget that you can find me on tumblr: we - are - all - of - legend - now and that my ao3 account is wearealloflegendnow (even though I haven't posted there yet)!

"A, B, C …"

Rose smiled as she heard Jake singing to their daughter, even though she was still too young to do anything but try to mimic the sounds coming out of his mouth. Rose snapped the Tupperware lid and hurried from the kitchen. Rose peeked into the living room, stopping to soak in her favourite sight.

Cecilia was seated on Jake's lap, staring up as he playfully exaggerated every letter of the alphabet to her. Cecilia clapped her pudgy little hands together, almost to a rhythm. Every time Jake swopped in to kiss her, Cecilia would let out an ear-piercing shriek and would try to grab onto his hair. Most of the time, Jake was too fast for her, but he was brought up short after the letter 'R' when she got a particularly good grip on Jake's hair. Jake let out a yowl that left Cecilia looking bewildered and on the verge of tears.

"You are the most wonderful menace," Jake said through gritted teeth as he tried to free her hands while trying to keep her calm and balanced on his knee. "Cecilia, angel."

Finally, Rose decided to take pity on Jake and untangled Cecilia from his hair and then took her daughter into her arms.

"Aw, don't beat up Daddy," Rose cooed, artfully swinging her ponytail so that Cecilia couldn't do the same thing to her. "He's not very strong, is he?"

"Hey!" Jake said, struggling to sound offended as he laughed. "You kidnapped my baby!"

"Only 'cause she's so cute," Rose cooed. "And I've got to get her dressed. We've got to leave for your parents' like now."

"Rose, the baby is dressed."

"Not like a candy cane and it's Christmas time now!"

"Thanksgiving was two days ago."

"Grinch," Rose muttered under her breath.

Rose dressed Cecilia and Jake happily snapped a few photos, even though they'd take many, many more once they arrived to family dinner. Then, they all bundled up in coats and mittens and boots that Cecilia absolutely didn't want to wear. Once she had her teddy clutched in her chubby hands, they opened the door and prepared to step outside into the cold night.

Cecilia screamed when she saw the outside, lurching forward in Rose's grasp. Rose had to catch her by the stomach. Rose pulled Cecilia back into her chest.

"It's just snow," Jake said soothingly, stretching his hand out to catch snowflakes on the back of his bare hand.

Cecilia watched, wide-eyed and incredibly baffled. Then, already not one to turn down an adventure, she stretched forward again. Rose carried her into her first snowfall. The three of them huddled on their small stoop. Cecilia was taking in the wonder of the snow, staring up at the sky and trying to catch them in her hands and on her tongue while Jake and Rose just took in the wonder of her.

Somehow after battles and bloodshed and destiny, they had still managed to end up here, holding their daughter, and still able to appreciate the beauty of New York's first snow of the winter.

Like it was another sense, Rose just knew when Jake wanted to kiss her and she instinctively leant her head back. The warmth of Jake's lip on the cold day filled Rose with contentment – for her life, for their life, even the world as a whole.

"I love you," Jake whispered.

"I love you too," Rose replied.

Then, "MAMA!"

Rose gasped. "Cece! Your first word!"

"Cece, say 'Dada'."

"Mama."

"Dada."

Jake and Cecilia continued their two-word argument all the way to family dinner. Rose just smiled, enjoying every moment and every snowflake.
