Hi All,

I've had this idea in my head for a while, and with the 60th anniversary decided to start writing it. The story is a crossover alternative universe Doctor Who fanfic which has a mix of Human Nature and Much Ado About Nothing added in. It also starts out in a high school setting but will only be there for the first half of the story.

So far, I've written over 20k words, and there's still a lot I've got left to write, but I decided to start posting the story now. The story is rated T but I will have a separate add on work, with explicit add ons to some chapters, for those who would like to read that as well.

I hope you all enjoy :) all errors are mine.

"I wonder why you're still talking. No one cares what you have to say" Donna said as she sat on a lawn chair in Jack Harkness's backyard, a beer in one hand.

"Why Donna, are you yet living?" the Doctor replied turning from the group he had begun conversing with upon his arrival at Jack's annual summer barbecue.

"How could I not be living when I get to experience the joy of realising how big a bullet I dodged, every time you swan back into our lives like a disease, we can't seem to get rid of" Donna said coldly taking a sip of her beer.

"You say that, however you seem to be the only lady I've encountered who seems to think that" the Doctor replied with a smug grin.

"Okay, I think we should get you a drink John" Jack said intervening before Donna had a chance to respond and taking the Doctor inside, knowing if he wasn't careful the two would be bickering all night.

5 years earlier

"Did they see your face Jack?" the Doctor questioned panting as they ran around the corner and into his Dad's TARDIS. He should've never asked to borrow it.

"No, I don't think so. I didn't turn around, as soon as you said run I just followed you" Jack replied watching the Doctor frantically run around the Tardis's console.

"Good good good" the Doctor said grabbing bits and bobs and muttering to himself.

"Doctor what's going on? What was that?" Jack asked confused.

"That was the family of blood. They're after my immortality and can track me by my time lord sent. Luckily though they can only last for nine months so I just need to hide from them for that length of time, and become human so they can't find me" the Doctor responded rummaging through a box till he held up the item he was looking for victoriously.

"Wait what? How on earth are you going to become human, and how do I fit into all of this?" Jack queried as the doctor handed him the watch.

"Using a chameleon arc to change my biology into that of a humans. This watch will hold my essence and when opened, I'll become a Time Lord again. Until then though I won't be aware of anything from my own past and will believe I'm a completely different person. It all depends on you; I'm trusting you to keep this and me safe. The Tardis will take care of everything and create a life story for me, along with choosing a time and place that I can integrate into society and hopefully remain hidden" the Doctor replied watching as a device descended from above, before turning to Jack and saying earnestly "I'm sorry to put you in this position, the Tardis will have an instruction video for you though to help answer any queries you have during this time".

"It's finally here Jack, our first day of our final year of school" the Doctor, or John Smith as he currently believed, said excitedly as the pair walked into Chiswick Sixth Form College.

"Yep, can't wait" Jack replied sighing and trudging slightly behind the doctor. Of all the times and places why did the Tardis have to pick 1988, England, and to top it off he was going to have redo his final year off high school again posing as a transfer student from the states.

"Oi! Watch we're you're going" a girl shouted as John collided with her as he rounded the corner, sending her books flying across the entrance to the school.

"Uhh..umm I'm sorry. Here let me help" John replied scrambling to grab a few of the books, before looking up to find the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen. She had flaming red hair, piercing blue eyes and a lovely hourglass figure.

"Can I have those back?" the girl asked looking pointedly at her books in his hands.

"Oh yep, I'm sorry" John replied quickly passing them to her.

"Ummm I'm John. I've just moved back to London after doing a two-year exchange in the States. Jack here is my cousin who I was staying with over there. He's transferred here to finish of his schooling, we're both staying at the boarding house across from campus" John rambled on awkwardly.

"Jeez I didn't ask for your life story" the girl replied before muttering "oww" as her friend beside her, who John only now just noticed, pinched the back of her arm, "umm I'm Donna".

"I'm Martha" her friend added cheerily, before the bell rang loudly.

"Crap we're going to be late" Donna said grabbing Martha's hand and pulling her down the hall as Martha waived a quick goodbye to them.

"Earth to Do…John" Jack said waiving a hand in front of his face, as John watched the retreating form of Donna, a wistful smile on his face.

"Hmm what" John replied looking back at Jack.

Rolling his eyes, Jack turned John in the direction of their first class for the day according to the schedule they'd received upon orientation yesterday. Luckily the Tardis had worked her magic and they'd be in all the same classes together, because it seemed Jack was going to have his work cut out for him keeping the Doctor out of mischief for the next nine months.

John beamed with delight when he and Jack walked into his last class before lunch; to find Donna and Martha were in the same English class as them. The pair sitting together at a desk in the middle of the classroom.

"Hi again" John said as he dragged Jack towards the desk directly behind the two girls.

"Hi" Martha replied with a sweet smile, nudging Donna to also greet the pair, "how has your first day been so far?"

"Wonderful, molto bene" John said with a grin, "although I'm starving and can't wait for lunch!"

"Okay, that's enough chit chat everyone" the teacher Mrs Smith said as she entered the classroom and putting an end to any discussions, "I hope you had a good summer break, because although it may be the first day of term, we're going to make a start on this terms piece of literature, Much Ado About Nothing. I'll split you into groups of three or four and once we've read the play, you'll have the next four and a half weeks to write a 1,200-word essay on one of the four topics I've written on the board".

"Once I call the names of your assigned groups, can you please move to sit near those individuals. You'll need to make notes together as we read the play and discuss the topic you might want to choose for your essay. Okay then, without further ado group 1 will be…group 3 will be Donna Noble, Martha Jones, John Smith and Jack Harkness" Mrs Smith announced.

"Well that's lucky, we won't even have to move" John said his smile growing even wider.

"You've got to be kidding me" Donna muttered to Martha so John couldn't hear.

"Come on, he seems sweet enough if a bit clumsy. You never know he could become one of your best friends" Martha whispered back before turning to John and Jack and saying "I know, hopefully you guys are good at English, I'm more of a science and maths girl myself".

"You're right, I'm just in a bad mood because of Mum. She wouldn't stop nagging me this morning about figuring out what I'm going to do next year and criticising how I looked" Donna replied quietly with a sigh, before giving Jack and John a polite smile, "don't let her fool you, she's one smart cookie. She's going to be a doctor one day".

I'd love to hear what you thought :)
