This was my first of two entries for the A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words Dysfunctional Family Holiday edition 2023 (250-word limit). The story won 1st Place in the Public Vote (thanks to all who voted!), was selected for the Angel's Pick (Secret Keeper) Award, and the Sibling Rivalry (Worst Sibling) Award.

Title: Stolen Kisses

I take a deep breath and head back towards the dining room. Before I can turn the corner, I'm pulled into the living room, the only glow coming from the Christmas tree lights.

It's Edward, his face full of concern.

"I'm sorry you had to find out on Christmas Eve, Bella."

"I can't believe I've been so blind," I say as I shake my head. "But what about you? He's your brother and she's your wife."

Edward's face scrunches with a look of distain.

"He's always tried to one up me all our lives, so I shouldn't be surprised," he says.

Edward and I are kindred spirits now, both innocent victims of our spouses' betrayal. I stare into his startling green eyes and feel an intensity I've never felt from him before.

I don't want to be my husband's victim anymore.

I grab Edward's face and pull him towards me as my lips meet his. After a second's hesitation, Edward is kissing me back.

His kiss makes my entire body tingle with more passion that I've ever felt in my 3-year marriage to his brother. I should feel guilty, but I just feel complete, maybe for the first time. I could get lost in this feeling forever.

"You're so beautiful, Bella" Edward whispers as his lips leave mine. "I've never been jealous of anything my brother had, but knowing you're his is making me insane."

"Don't worry, I'll never be his again," I say and lean in for another kiss.
