AN: A Christmas present for all of you. Enjoy the next chapter of New Order everyone.
Chapter 6 - Primary Directive
Upon hearing the enemy was appearing right outside the Baxter Building, Mister Fantastic immediately set to work. A few buttons on his remote later, a computerized voice sounded out.
"Quarantine Barrier has been applied, no anomalies reported."
"Quarantine Barrier? What the hell does that mean?" Mike Haggar demanded.
Mister Fantastic looked at the crowd. He winced slightly when he saw that little girl, Li Fen, buried in Chun Li's embrace in terror. He took a deep breath before explaining himself.
"It's a defensive measure I set up for whenever an enemy assaults the Baxter Building." He explained. "Specifically, it's a barrier of energy that I modeled after my wife's invisible barriers. However, unlike Sue's barriers, it's not designed to keep the enemy out, it's designed to keep the enemy in."
"Keep them in? Why?" Chun Li asked incredulously.
"Because the only people willing to mess with the Fantastic 4 are either stupid or real heavy hitters." The Thing explained. "The kind of folks who'd cause major damage to New York if Reed didn't take measures such as these."
Mister Fantastic gestured for everyone to follow him. "Basic defenses are up too, they should buy us enough time to plan a defensive strategy." He explained as the group entered a larger room. Dr. Light was working at a control panel. "How are we looking, Thomas?"
"Your defenses are up," Dr. Light replied, "but their numbers are increasing. Their numbers are at forty-eight enemy fighters, and climbing."
"Defenses will likely not hold forever." Mister Fantastic noted before addressing everyone else. "I won't ask you all to help my family and I defend our home, but if you are willing to help, I would greatly appreciate it."
"Hey come on, Reed, you know I've got your family's back." Spidey grinned behind his mask.
"After the day I had, I need an excuse to let loose." Wolverine added.
"The Fantastic 4 can count on the support of the Avengers too." Captain America promised.
"I know," Mister Fantastic nodded, "but I wasn't talking about all of you. I was talking about our friends from the other universe."
Mister Fantastic then addressed the individuals who were unfortunately pulled into this mess. "If you believe this isn't your fight, I completely understand." He promised. "Honestly, I fear that it's our universe that has dragged your universe into this mess. With that in mind, I have no right to force you all to help. If you wish to aid us, that's your choice. I won't hold anything against you if you decide you want no part of this. But I promise you all, regardless of your decision, I intend to devote every ounce of my intellect to solving this mystery and fixing our two universes. So I ask you all, what do you want?"
Mega Man did not hesitate. He stepped forward with a look of determination on his face.
"How can I help, Dr. Richards?" He asked.
Mike grinned. "I'm in too, Doc." He promised, stepping forward.
"A true Strider fights all evil." Hiryu added. "You have my sword at your disposal."
"You have my weapons as well, friend." Arthur promised.
"Count me in too, could be one hell of an adventure." Dante proclaimed.
"Agreed," Morrigan added, "just what I need."
"I will fight for you all." Zangief promised. "The Red Cyclone fights for the smiles of all."
"I'm in as well." Chun Li proclaimed. "It's not even a question."
"It seems we're all in agreement." Ryu noted. "Dr. Richards, we're at your service."
The Fantastic 4 all smiled with gratitude. Cap stepped forward, taking command on instinct.
"If there are as many as Dr. Light claims, we'll have to break apart and keep them away from the Baxter Building." He claimed. "We'll move in teams, separate them, and take them out one by one."
"I have an update." Dr. Light said. "The spatial disturbance is over, and it looks like a total of seventy-two enemy combatants, all airborne for now."
"Do we have a visual confirmation on what kind of enemies that we're dealing with?" Invisible Woman asked. "I'm not seeing them outside the window."
Mister Fantastic immediately stretched his arms over to the control panel. "I'm switching the monitor to the cameras outside the building. Let's see what we're dealing with here."
Everyone watched as the monitors revealed the outside of the Baxter Building. They were all surprised to see robots gathered around the building, hovering. They were all dark blue in color with silver craniums and shining blue helmet visors. They were currently in the process of avoiding laser fire, courtesy of the Baxter Building's defense system.
"That's a new design." Iron Man noted. "I've never seen anything like that before."
"Thomas," Mister Fantastic addressed Dr. Light, "once we've all exited the building, I'm initiating a lockdown protocol. Can I count on you to be mission control while we're outside?"
"I'll do my part gladly, Reed." Dr. Light promised.
"Roll, you stay inside too." Mega Man ordered. "You're not a fighter."
Roll nodded. "Good luck out there, Mega." She said to her brother.
"Li Fen," Chun Li looked her adopted daughter in the eye, "I have to go deal with this, you know that, right?"
Li Fen smiled. "Of course, because Chun Li's the strongest woman in the world."
"Roll, right?" Chun Li addressed Roll. The robot girl nodded. "Could you please look after her?"
"Of course," Roll smiled.
"Bruce," Cap addressed Banner, "I'm sorry to do this to you, but…"
"Cap, you don't have to say anything." Banner promised. "After years of trying to cure myself of the Hulk, I've spent the last several years convincing him he can be a hero, a force for good. If I stayed out of a fight like this, I'd be betraying him."
Everyone then heard Dr. Light gasp. "Reed!" He exclaimed. "Cameras have picked up someone else, a woman. She is currently hiding from the robots, who don't seem to have noticed her yet."
The camera images then changed to show the woman. She was beautiful, blonde, serious and wore a green leotard. Chun Li gasped. She knew this woman.
"Cammy? What's she doing here?"
"You know her?" Invisible Woman asked.
"She's an MI6 operative and my best friend." Chun Li replied. "She's strong, but if that many robots notice her, she's in trouble. I'm going down there"
"No way in hell," Human Torch immediately stepped in front of Chun Li.
"Trying to be old fashioned and chivalrous?" Chun Li glared at him.
The Human Torch grinned. "No way, I'm just telling you you're not going at it alone. I ain't leaving a pretty face in danger like that, nor am I letting another pretty face walk head-on into danger."
"I'll help out too." Spider-Man volunteered. "Reed, you've got your first team in dealing with these robots. We'll get Chun Li's friend out of danger."
With that, the large windows opened. Spidey grabbed onto Chun Li. "Hang on, ma'am, we're going for a ride."
Chun Li briefly lost her bravado. "Wait, you mean right out the window?"
"Trust me," Spidey grinned, "falling from great heights is kinda my thing."
Before Chun Li could protest, Spider-Man leapt out with Chun Li in tow. Human Torch quickly followed.
"Flame on!" He yelled, covering his body in flames.
"That act has probably alerted them to our exact location." Mister Fantastic grimly noted. "Everyone, get your teams together. We've got work to do."
Due to general familiarity, the teams were quickly assembled. The first team, the air-defense team: Iron Man, War Machine, Morrigan and Mega Man.
"Okay, Rush, are you ready for some action?" Mega Man asked his robot dog.
Rush barked and nodded before leaping forward and converting himself into the Rush Jet mode. Next, the second team, protecting the north side of the Baxter Building: Mister Fantastic, Wolverine, Mike Haggar and Dante. The third team, protecting the south side of the Baxter Building: Storm, Gambit, Zangief and Ryu. The fourth team, protecting the west side of the Baxter Building: The Thing, Captain America, Thor and Strider Hiryu. Finally, the fifth team, protecting the east side of the Baxter Building: Invisible Woman, Cyclops, Hulk and Arthur.
Bruce Banner then took a deep breath. His body began to pulsate and turn green. With a roar, the Hulk was back. The Thing and Wolverine briefly glared at him. Hulk noticed Thing first and glared back.
"Grimm." He growled.
"Hulk," Cap got the big guy's attention, "there's more important things to deal with right now. There are some bad guys attacking. You know what to do."
Hulk looked at Li Fen, who smiled at him, fully confident he was going to do the right thing and protect her. Hulk nodded.
"Smash!" He exclaimed before leaping out the open window.
"Heroes, let's move out!" Cap yelled before everyone exited the Baxter Building in their own way.
As this happened, Spidey–having attached a line of webbing to allow a safe fall, reached the ground with Chun Li. She looked at the webbing in surprise. Then, she looked at Spider-Man.
"Well, at least I now understand how you got your name." She noted. Then, one by one, the other teams reached the ground as well through various means.
"Dr. Light, I'm switching the Baxter Building to lockdown mode. That will turn off our defense system. We'll take it from here." Mister Fantastic promised Dr. Light over a headpiece. With that, the entire Baxter Building was covered with protective shutters.
"Okay, you all know what to do, move out!" Cap yelled.
Everyone separated to deal with the robots on their respective sides. As the lasers retracted due to lockdown being initiated, the robots took notice of their living enemies. Twelve flew towards Spider-Man and Chun Li.
"Scanning," the one in the lead said, "unregistered hostile. Scanning. Known hostile, Peter Parker, also known as Spider-Man. Identified. Order: kill on sight."
Spidey gasped. "No way, these things know who I am behind the mask? How is that possible?"
The Human Torch then intervened, shooting at the robots with fireballs. The fireballs exploded upon collision with their metallic bodies. "Chun Li!" He exclaimed. "Go get your friend's attention, Spidey and I will draw them away"
The robots then flew out of the fire. "Scanning," the leading robot said, "priority target: Human Torch, identified. Proceeding with anti-Human Torch strategies."
"The hell?" The Human Torch was bewildered by the behavior of these robots. He quickly shook off his confusion. "Screw it, you guys are gonna melt!"
Five robots began to surround the Human Torch while four others touched down to confront Spider-Man. The last three took off in pursuit of Chun Li. The Human Torch tried to shoot them down with fireballs and managed to blast one out of the sky. However, two of the robots who remained to deal with them got in front of his fireballs and managed to manifest energy shields that blocked the blasts. Spidey tried to pull the other two down with his webbings, only for a robot that had landed to suddenly transform its arm into a blade and slice right through the webbing.
"Chun Li, there are two headed your way!" Spidey warned.
Chun Li looked over her shoulder. She quickly pivoted and fired off a ki blast with two hands.
"Kikoken!" She yelled as the ki blast collided with one of the robots coming towards her.
The blast sent the robot away from her. "Updating threat level. Unknown Subject presents clear and present danger. Terminating with extreme prejudice."
The robot's arm transformed into a blade, it swept towards Chun Li. Chun Li quickly leapt into the air and kicked the robot with such force it was knocked off course, flying away from her. She winced. That felt like kicking material even stronger than steel. At that moment, Chun Li called out for her friend.
"Cammy!" She yelled. "Cammy, it's me, Chun Li!"
At that moment, Cammy emerged from the nearby bushes. She looked at her best friend in a mixture of shock and relief.
"Chun Li? Thank God!" She said, "what in the world is happening here?"
"Talk later," Chun Li said to her, "right now, we have to deal with these robots first."
Cammy's baffled expression immediately turned serious. She then gasped. "Behind you!" She yelled, jumping past Chun Li. "Spiral Arrow!"
Cammy spun rapidly, driving her feet right into the robot hit by Chun Li's Kikoken. It had recovered and attempted to strike Chun Li from behind. The impact shattered the robot into pieces. Then, the robot Chun Li had kicked earlier returned, both arms transformed into blades. It swung both its blade-arms at Chun Li. She avoided the attacks and then flipped into the air.
"Hazanshu!" She yelled, destroying the head of the robot.
Meanwhile, the Human Torch was still fighting the five robots flying alongside him and Spider-Man was weaving around the four robots attacking him on the ground. Human Torch continued to shoot fireballs at the robots.
"Damn, these things are fast in the air." He complained.
A robot that had thicker armor plating attempted to move behind Human Torch, he spun around and blasted it point blank with fire. However, the robot easily shrugged off the flames.
"Initiate Anti-Human Torch Strategy." The robot said dispassionately before holding out its palm, revealing what appeared to be a small turbine that started spinning rapidly.
Before the Human Torch could comprehend what was happening, a vortex surrounded his body. Within seconds, he saw the flames around his body start to evaporate. "What…what's happening? My flames!" He yelled in horror.
Spidey looked up to see his good friend in danger. "Johnny!" He yelled in concern before almost taking a devastating hit to the jaw from a robot that somehow changed the size of its fist.
Meanwhile, in the air, Iron Man took notice of the Human Torch's plight. War Machine flew next to him.
"Tony, what the hell is that thing doing to him?" He asked.
"It's a vortex," Iron Man realized, "the vortex is sucking away the Human Torch's oxygen! No oxygen, no flames! No oxygen, no life!"
At that moment, six robots appeared in front of Iron Man and War Machine. Iron Man growled in frustration.
"Seriously?" He groaned in frustration.
"Hostile Target: Colonel James Rhodes. Hostile Target: Tony Stark. Order: kill on sight." One of the robots said.
At that moment, their arms transformed into what appeared to be gatling guns. Iron Man gasped at the sight.
"I thought I recognized that! It's nanotech! I've been wanting to dabble in that for years! I only recently built a prototype!" He could not resist geeking out.
The robots started a rapid fire volley of laser blasts, forcing both Iron Man and War Machine into evasive maneuvers.
"Tony, why are these things addressing us by our civilian names?" War Machine asked in concern.
"Hell if I know, we need to focus on getting past these guys to save the Human Torch! And maybe learn about the nanotech these things have! In that order!" Iron Man fired a repulsor blast at the robots, only for one to defend the rest with an energy shield.
"Analyzing Assault Force capabilities. Anti-Iron Man strategy, possible. Initiating Anti-Iron Man strategy." The robot who had created the energy shield proclaimed.
"Anti-Iron Man strategy?" Iron Man was surprised by that statement.
"Tony!" War Machine warned. Iron Man looked over his shoulder just as a robot grabbed onto him from behind. The robot then held its right hand over the arc reactor.
"Wait, what?!" Iron Man yelled in shock, realizing what was about to happen. The robot then began to absorb the energy of the Arc Reactor. Iron Man screamed in pain as the robot quite literally drained the life from him. "JARVIS, electric defense system, now!"
Thankfully, Iron Man's quick thinking saved him. A blast of electricity from the suit gave the robot a shock, forcing it to let go of him. The three other robots resumed their assault on him.
These things know about the arc reactor and have the capabilities of draining it? People may know that Tony Stark is Iron Man…but who could know about the arc reactor? Iron Man wondered.
Meanwhile, Mega Man flew around on Rush in his jet form, keeping the three robots pursuing him away from the Baxter Building. He noticed the Human Torch's plight and directed Rush to fly towards him. However, he was quickly stopped in his tracks by laser fire from the robots.
"Unknown robotic entity is attempting to save Priority Target, Human Torch." One of the robots proclaimed. "Unknown robotic entity must be stopped."
"Human Torch is a priority target?" Mega Man was surprised by this. However, he did not let himself be deterred. He had to save the Human Torch, somehow. Nearby, Morrigan Aensland was in a stalemate with the robots as well. However, this was because of her desire for stimulation.
"A pity," she mused, "this is the only way I could possibly enjoy myself with soulless machines like yourselves."
It was at that moment, Morrigan saw the state the Human Torch was in. For a brief moment, she considered letting the human die. After all, it was his own fault for getting caught like that. For a darkstalker, humans were not special. For many, they were a source of nourishment. Even Morrigan, who loved humans in her own way, considered them a kind of nourishment. However, Morrigan still loved humans. They were chaotic creatures who never failed to entertain her. Chaotic creatures with the most wonderful dreams for her to feast on. And hey, the Human Torch was kind of a cutie.
"Lilith!" Morrigan called out as her shadow suddenly stretched. Within seconds, Morrigan's other half, Lilith Aensland appeared. She immediately flew towards the Human Torch, already knowing what she had to do.
While all of this happened, the second team defending the north side of the building faced off against other strange robots. Dante was readily handling his large group of robots while Mike Haggar grappled with a single robot that had enlarged its arms with nanotech. Wolverine stood face to face with three of these strange robots.
"Mutant entity detected." One of the robots proclaimed. "Identity verified: Wolverine."
"If you know who I am, then you should know talking like a Sentinel is the quickest way to piss me off, bub." Wolverine grinned ferally.
"Analysis complete. Assault force has Anti-Wolverine capabilities. Proceeding."
Wolverine roared as he charged the robots. The trio separated from each other. Wolverine instinctively looked to his right. The robot to his right held out its arm and several familiar metallic cables sprouted from its arm, shooting towards Wolverine like lunging snakes. Wolverine gasped. He recognized this.
"Omega Red?" He said in disbelief before being struck by the cables. The cables pierced him in multiple areas.
Wolverine grunted in pain. He looked down at his open wounds "Son of a…my healing factor!" He exclaimed. "How'd this thing get its hands on carbonadium?"
Then, the robot that had moved to his left struck. It fired a blast of electricity that made Wolverine scream in pain. Mister Fantastic was the first to notice Wolverine's plight. He gasped when he saw what the two robots were doing to him.
Those cables…carbonadium, the same material the supervillain Omega Red uses. Mister Fantastic remembered. And electricity…perfect weapon against a man with bones strengthened by adamantium. How could these robots know Wolverine's weaknesses?
Mister Fantastic stretched his body around attacks from two robots surrounding him. He reached for his belt and pulled two EMP bombs out. He tossed them at the two robots. The resulting blasts generated a shortwave pulse of electromagnetism that caused both robots to collapse. Mister Fantastic's attention was then drawn by the voice of the third robot.
"Priority target, Mister Fantastic, identified." It proclaimed. "Proceeding with Anti-Mister Fantastic strategy."
At that moment, Mister Fantastic felt literal chills run all over his body. He gasped in horror, realizing that the robot was now brandishing gauntlets that were changing the temperature around him and freezing him in the process. He could see the ice growing around his body.
"No!" He exclaimed.
These robots know my weakness as well? Who could've created these? He wondered.
As this happened, the battle on the south side of the Baxter Building raged on as well. While Zangief and Ryu worked together to bring down their half of the robots, Gambit and Storm found themselves struggling against their half.
Gambit grit his teeth in frustration as his exploding cards failed to damage any of the robots.
"These things are made of sturdy stuff." He turned to Storm. "Can you distract 'em for me? If I can get in close, I can charge them and make 'em explode. But I need time to get it done."
"I will do my best," Storm promised, "but this barrier makes controlling the elements difficult. An unfortunate, unintended side-effect."
Before the two could put their strategy in effect, however, one of the robots trained its gaze entirely on Gambit.
"Mutant entity, detected. Identified as Remy LeBeau." Said the robot. "Analysis of assault force complete. Anti-Gambit capabilities are present. Proceeding to employ countermeasures."
Before either mutant could process this, there was a flash of extremely bright light. Gambit yelled in pain, instinctively shielding his eyes.
"My eyes!" He exclaimed, stumbling blindly about. "Damn robot blinded me!"
Though he stumbled about, Gambit was still left an easy target for the robot. He was blasted from behind by a powerful laser that knocked him onto the ground.
"Gambit!" Storm exclaimed. She quickly flew to his body and stood over him protectively. "Metallic monstrosities! You will pay for this! I call upon the north winds, blow my enemies away!"
Powerful winds blasted the three robots. They remained in place.
"Analyzing data on Ororo Munroe," the robot that had blinded Gambit spoke up, "searching for possible countermeasures."
"Perhaps I cannot truly command the elements like always in a contained area such as this." Storm acknowledged as electricity crackled at her fingertips. With her emotions heightened due to rage, Storm was about to unleash far greater power, limitations notwithstanding. "However, my rage will compensate! Know you have angered Storm, she who commands the elements! This was a fatal mistake! Lightning, rise and strike down my foes!"
Lightning flew from Storm's fingers and struck the robots in front of her and Gambit. "Error. Error. Error. Electricity overloading systems. Error. Error." Boom. There went the robots.
Meanwhile, on the west side of the Baxter Building, the next team was starting to push back their portion of the enemy robots.
"Legion!" Strider called out, as his mechanical beasts appeared and ripped into two of the robots that confronted him.
Captain America slowly pushed the robots attacking him back with the use of his shield. He then heard one of the robots speak.
"Danger. target, Steve Rogers, no notable weaknesses to exploit. Uncertain of how to proceed."
Cap soon found himself back to back with Hiryu. Having also heard what the robot confronting Cap said, Hiryu spoke up on the matter.
"You seem to be quite a famous foe, Captain America." He noted.
"So it would seem," Cap admitted, "it looks like they've got data on me."
The two then heard the sound of lightning striking the ground. They turned to see Thor standing over the blackened and melted bodies of several robots. They then heard the one most intact speak.
"Error. Error. Failed to calculate Thor Odinson's presence. Chances of victory decreased significantly. Error. No weaknesses capable of exploiting. Error. Er-" The robot was cut off by Thor stomping on the head of the robot.
"Irritating creations of mortals," Thor spat, "thou remindest me of Ultron. That angers me greatly."
"Captain!" Hiryu suddenly shouted. Cap quickly held his shield up blocking laser fire from three robots. Hiryu then leapt over Cap, sword drawn. The plasma blade then extended in length as he slashed horizontally. "Gram!"
The slash from the plasma sword cut one of the robots in half, forcing the other two to move away from Hiryu.
"Thanks for the clear shot, Strider!" Cap praised before tossing the shield at one of the two robots that broke rank. The shield collided with the robot and then bounced off it into the other robot. The impact knocked both further away. Meanwhile, Thing cracked his neck at the three robots confronting him.
"I had a nice day ahead of me, ya know." He glared at the robots. "I was gonna catch one of the games today. Then I somehow end up in Dallas. No big deal. I'll just go and catch a Cowboys game in person. Who knows, maybe they'd let me hang out in the box seats like a big celebrity fer a change. Instead, I'm back here, and now a bunch of robots are trying ta invade my home! Do you robots even know who yer dealing with?"
"Priority target, Thing." One robot replied. "Initiating Anti-Thing Strategy."
"Oh good, ya do know who I am." Thing grinned. "Then that means you boys should know. It's clobberin' time!"
With that, Thing leapt onto one of the robots, driving its head straight into the ground with his rocky fists. Then he threw a haymaker straight into the jaw of another robot, shattering it and knocking what was left of its head clean off.
"Two down and one to go!" Thing exclaimed, turning to the last robot. "Get crushed!"
Thing threw a strong right hook at the robot. The robot held out its arm and managed to catch the Thing's punch. In an instant, its other arm lit up a bright purple glow. Thing's eyes widened. The robot took the full force of one of his punches. Not a lot of living beings, let alone robots could take a punch from him.
The robot then threw its own punch. Its purple, glowing fist collided with Thing. Thing yelled in pain as he was blasted with a tremendous amount of kinetic energy. It was his own kinetic energy from his earlier punch. Thing yelled in pain as he was sent sailing past the Baxter Building.
"Sir Grimm!" Thor yelled in concern.
Cap's eyes widened, recognizing that power. "That kinetic energy-based attack. That robot is outfitted with vibranium!" He exclaimed.
Meanwhile, east of the Baxter Building, the last team of heroes was doing their part against the enemy as well.
"Mutant entity detected. Identified as Scott Summers." Said one of the robots confronting Cyclops.
Cyclops responded by turning on his visor to blast the robot with his optic blast. "Eyes a giveaway, boys?" He taunted.
Meanwhile, Hulk roared as he easily tore up the robots coming towards him. After ripping one in particular in half, he caught its final words.
"Error. Still no viable strategies to use against the Hulk. Sending data to homebase." The robot said before shutting down entirely.
Hulk grunted at the robots words. "No strategies? Of course not. Hulk can't be beat."
Arthur then flew into the Hulk, making him grunt again. "Accursed knights from a foreign land!" Arthur exclaimed, clearly confused about what a robot was. He leapt to his feet, brandishing his lance once more. "I will not fall!"
Hulk grunted and picked Arthur up like a kitten. "Little Knight not doing anything." He pointed out. "Hulk take care of it."
"Do not dishonor a knight, ogre!" Arthur yelled indignantly as Hulk put him back down.
Hulk ignored Arthur and immediately charged the three robots that had attacked Arthur. The impact sent their parts flying into the air like bowling pins. Arthur grumbled in frustration at the sight.
"Arthur!" Arthur was startled as an attack from a robot that came up to him from behind almost struck him, only to be stopped by an invisible barrier. Arthur turned to his savior and saw that the Invisible Woman had created the barrier that protected him.
"You have my gratitude, Lady Susan." Arthur said gratefully. "Please remain behind us and continue to provide support with your magic."
Invisible Woman could not help but chuckle at Arthur's chivalrous spirit. She then erected force fields that she pushed against the robots coming towards her, knocking them away from her.
"Support is my forte, Arthur, but I can take care of myself all the same." She promised. She then gave the little knight a playful wink. "Not all women are princesses in need of rescuing."
Arthur hummed. "Tell that to the princess." He muttered under his breath.
The robots Invisible Woman assaulted quickly recovered and began flying back to her. Invisible Woman then vanished completely. The robots, however, seemed to have a counter for exactly that.
"Switch visual scanners." The leader exclaimed. "Priority target, Invisible Woman, initiate Anti-Invisible Woman strategies."
When Invisible Woman realized her enemies could still see her, she instantly erected another invisible barrier. The leading robot quickly began punching the barrier around Invisible Woman. With every punch, A purple glow began to surround both metallic gauntlets the robot wore.
"Lady Susan!" Arthur exclaimed in concern, tossing weapons that seemingly came from nowhere at the robots.
The leader's two compatriots stood protectively in front of it, blasting the weapons away with lasers. Then, the robot threw both of its fists forward. Purple energy exploded from the gauntlets, shattering the barrier like glass. Invisible Woman screamed as she was sent flying by the force of the blow. She felt pure, explosive kinetic energy slam into her body like a freight train. She reappeared as she fell onto her back.
"That was…vi…branium?" She said weakly. "But…how…can that…be?"
"Lady Susan!" Arthur yelled in concern. He pulled out a lance and attempted to charge the robots, only for lasers to explode at his feet, knocking him backwards. He groaned in pain, horrified at the thought of failing in his chivalrous duty. "No…"
"Mrs. Richards!" Cyclops yelled in concern, attempting to turn his attention to saving her. However, before he could use his optic blast on the robots, he was suddenly assaulted from behind by electricity from another robot.
"Target is incapacitated." The leader proclaimed. "Incapacitation is not satisfactory. Primary directive: Eliminate the Fantastic 4."
AN: So, a lot to unpack. These robots know the secret identities of the superheroes of Marvel AND their weaknesses. Really makes you wonder who built these things. That's not even getting into the fact they are outfitted with rare metals like carbonadium and vibranium.
Hope everyone enjoyed the chapter. Merry Christmas, and I'll see you all next time.
