NOTE: Welcome back to another chapter! Baba's little tournament is getting into swing! Yor and friends must defeat all of her fighters if they wish to learn the location of the last Dragon Ball! Will they succeed? Well, I know but you'll have to read and find out.
Enjoy and Review!
Chapter 7: Strange Fighters
"Good job defeating one of my prized fighters. Now, are you ready to continue or do you wish to switch out?" Baba asked the young assassin.
Yor, after getting Upa and Goku off of her, looked ready to continue. "Yes, I-"
"WAIT!"
Everyone turned to see Yamcha stepping up to the plate. "Let me take it from here, Yor." He smiled confidently.
The young assassin wasn't sure, she wasn't tired at all. "Are you sure, Yamcha? I can still keep going."
"It's fine, Yor. Seeing you fight has got my blood pumping, so you rest with the others while I handle this." Yamcha reassured her.
"Don't worry, Yor, Yamcha's pretty strong!" Krillin supported the ex-bandit's decision.
"If you're certain about this, then I'll step down." Yor responded, stepping out of the ring. She knew Goku's friends were strong, but Krillin had gotten beaten pretty easily. It might've just been better if she and Goku handled the rest of Baba's fighters. But, if Yamcha was confident in his chances then she'll just have to believe in him. "I'm sure you can do it!"
Yamcha gave her a thumbs up. "Just sit back and watch. I'll show you the strength of my Wolf Fang Fist!" He posed dramatically as if he were mimicking the appearance of a wolf.
"But how can a wolf's fang have a fist?" She imagined a wolf's fangs transforming into a boxing glove, then the glove beating a man to death.
Baba chuckled, grinning at Yamcha. "Are you sure this is the decision you're making?"
"Yeah, I'm sure! I'll take down the last five of your fighters myself!" Yamcha declared.
"Hey! I wanna fight too!" Goku protested.
"You're our secret weapon just in case, little buddy." Yamcha reassured him. He was hoping that it wouldn't come down to having Goku fight, especially after watching Yor fight. But there was nothing wrong with being a bit careful. He turned back to Baba with his usual confidence. "Okay, bring out your fighter."
"Ho ho ho! He's already here." Baba said ominously.
"Eh? Where? I don't see anyone." Yamcha and the others were confused. The only one who wasn't confused was Yor, whose senses were trained to pick up the littlest of sounds. She could hear the patter of feet, something Yamcha couldn't pick up.
Baba continued to laugh. "Heh! Can't see him? Well of course not! He's the Invisible Man!"
"INVISIBLE MAN?!" The group cried.
"BEGIN!"
Yamcha was slugged in the jaw as soon as the match began, he stumbled back and held his aching jaw. Laughter came from the spot he was just at. "Fu fu fu! Here I come…!"
"Ha!" Yamcha struck at the spot, but his palm missed. The ex-bandit was then nailed in the nose and stomach, his body sliding across the arena floor. "D-dammit! This isn't fair…!"
"Y-Yamcha!" Puar cried.
"Where are you?! Where the hell are you?!" Unfortunately for Yamcha, his opponent wasn't dumb enough to give away his location. Invisible Man continued to wail on the ex-bandit without mercy and all everyone else could do was watch.
"Hey, what's going on?! Why is Yamcha jumping around all alone like that?!" Goku's question got a confused look from Yor. Was he simply not paying attention to the last few minutes? Krillin on the other hand seemed to be contemplating something.
The monk turned to his friend with a frantic look. "Goku! Go hurry and bring Master Roshi and Bulma here!"
"Huh? Why?"
"JUST GO!"
"Okay." The monkey jumped onto his trusty cloud and took off towards Roshi's house, leaving the group to watch Yamcha continue getting his ass kicked. Baba watched him leave, surprised to see Goku had flown on the Flying Nimbus.
"Why did you have Goku do that, Krillin? I'm not sure they can help here." Yor questioned the plan.
Krillin was biting his nails a bit. "Oh, they can help. As long as Goku gets back here before Yamcha can lose."
Flipping back onto his feet, Yamcha wiped his bloody lip. "T-this is bad! At this rate, I'll definitely lose! I'll just have to listen for even the slightest possible noise that happens whenever he moves…" Right as he said that a footstep was heard behind him. "THERE!" Yamcha's foot managed to nick the Invisible Man. "Heh, you may be invisible, but you can't completely erase your presence when you move."
Yor clapped her hands, elated to see Yamcha use his head to figure out the problem. As long as he could continue using his senses, then he should emerge victorious.
"You sure?" The Invisible Man probably smirked. Yamcha was confused until the horrible singing of Baba's invaded his ears, giving the Invisible Man the chance to attack. With her singing being too loud, Yamcha's plan was foiled.
"That's not fair!" Yor glared at the fortune-teller.
"Hm? What's wrong?" Baba asked, feigning ignorance. "I just felt like singing is all. Can't blame an old woman for wanting to have some fun." The old witch took some amusement from the annoyed look Yor was giving her.
"Dammit…! If she keeps this up, then I'll definitely lose!" Yamcha coughed.
"Had enough yet? Let me be honest. You have no chance of victory." Baba said assuredly.
"HEY! I BROUGHT THEM!" Everyone except the two-fighting looked up to see Goku had returned with Bulma and Roshi holding onto him. Yor remembered Goku telling her that they couldn't ride the Nimbus, so that was the next best solution.
"Yes, he made it!" Krillin exclaimed as Goku lowered them down to the floor.
Bulma was not happy about getting dragged along. "What's the big idea?! I was just about to go home to West City!"
"What do you need us for?" Roshi asked.
"Well… I would like you to watch this battle." Krillin responded.
"Yes! Now come over here and watch it, Bulma! You stay right there, Master Roshi!" Krillin ordered, confusing the group. Yor still had no idea what his plan was, since it was too late to add anymore fighters. Not that Bulma could fight anyways.
Bulma looked over to the ring, gasping as she watched her boyfriend get tossed around. "Yamcha?! What are you doing?!"
"Just get over here, Bulma!" Krillin pulled her to the other side. "Now, look up a bit more, Master Roshi!"
Bulma's back was facing the fight with Roshi standing in front of her. "But I can't see what's going on, Krillin!"
"And this is a really tiring way to watch." Roshi's neck was craned upwards.
Goku, Yor, Upa, and Puar just blinked at the weird scene. It wasn't until Krillin decided it was now time to initiate his plan that Yor's entire face lit up like a tomato. Bulma's top had come down, revealing her bare breasts to the world and especially the old pervert. The young assassin quickly covered her eyes before realizing that Goku and Upa were still looking, she turned their heads away to protect their innocence.
A waterfall of blood spurting from Roshi's nose, nailing the Invisible Man. The sudden bloody attack had taken them all by surprise, but now the Invisible Man had become the visible man. "YES, I CAN SEE YOU NOW!" Yamcha declared.
"Oh no!" The visible man cried.
"WOLF FANG FIST!" Yamcha assaulted his opponent with a barrage of strikes before finishing the combo with a powerful kick. His opponent fell to the ring floor, quickly raising a white flag to signify that he quit.
"He did it!" Goku cheered.
"Alright, Yamcha!" Krillin joined in the cheering.
Yor's face was still red as a tomato, too focused on the indecent display that had happened seconds ago. She turned to the older girl, staring at her with ashamed eyes. "I-I can't believe it, Bulma! To think you'd do something so vulgar!"
"IT WASN'T ME!" The heiress roared, blushing madly. She turned on the monk, who realized that he was in deep shit. "I'LL KILL YOU, KRILLIN!"
"B-but, your breasts did just save your boyfriend-"
POW!
"Ugh…" Krillin groaned after reeling from Bulma's hit.
Yor was hugging herself tightly. "Is showing off your breasts to people something normal teenage girls do?"
"NO!" Bulma did NOT want Yor getting the wrong impression.
Roshi wiped the blood from his face. "Were you trying to have me die from blood loss?!"
"S-sorry, Master Roshi, but I had no other choice!"
"...I'll thank you later." Roshi muttered, but Bulma heard them loud and clear. Sending the teacher and pupil a nasty side-eye for the stunt. Goku and Upa were too busy asking Yor why her face was so red. Puar continued singing Yamcha's praises for his victory over the Invisible Man.
Bada was impressed by their plan and victory. "Not bad. These last four are true fighters though."
Yamcha looks over to the side and notices the new arrivals. "Master Roshi and Bulma! You guys are here?"
"You just noticed?" Bulma raises a brow at his lack of awareness. She sees the old witch on the crystal ball and frowns. "Is that Fortune-Teller Baba?"
"Yes." Krillin answers.
"Then if you came here to ask about the Dragon Ball, what are you doing fighting like this?" She asks. Krillin explains the situation to them which makes Roshi hum with familiarity.
"You're just as greedy as you've always been, sis." The turtle hermit says.
…
…
…
"Huh? Sis?" Everyone stares at him.
"Baba's my sister."
"WHAT?!"
"Hmph! Long time no see. And it looks like you're just as lazy as you've always been. Still just as perverted too."
"Leave me alone!"
Yor stared at the siblings in awe. "Would Yuri and I become like them too…? I hope not! I don't want Yuri to end up like a perverted old man!" Yor decided right then and there that she'd do everything in her power to raise Yuri to respect women.
"If that's the case, Master Roshi, then can you ask her to give us a free fortune?"
"Don't even think about it." Baba nulled the idea before they could even celebrate the thought. "Money and fighting are my only form of entertainment these days."
"It's fine! This'll be good training." Yamcha declared.
"Yeah! I don't want the easy way out!" Goku agreed with the ex-bandit. Yor didn't know if she should voice her opinion or not. She didn't mind the free fortune, since she didn't really see how any of this could be training, but that's what separates her from these martial artists it seems.
"Well said, for the next fighter, however, we need to change arenas. Follow me." Baba moved towards another building. The group followed behind Baba with Roshi getting into a small argument with her over money.
"Who are you?" Bulma asked Upa.
"My name is Upa."
"Ahh! So, your dad is the one Goku and Yor wanted to revive with the Dragon Balls!"
"Yes!"
"Don't get too chummy with that lady. She's actually really scary." Krillin warned Upa.
"I see."
"DON'T SAY THINGS LIKE THAT!" Bulma roared at Krillin, scaring both children. She huffed as they both ran away towards the front of the group. That's when she noticed Yor tailing behind the group a bit. "Yor?"
"Hm? Oh, Bulma! Sorry for dragging you out here." Yor apologized.
"It's not a big deal, besides it's Krillin's fault if anything." Bulma waved it off. She noticed the troubled look on the assassin's face. "Is something the matter?"
"W-well… I'm just a bit worried. We need that Dragon Ball, so we have to beat all of Baba's fighters. But we've already dealt with some weird opponents and if it wasn't for Krillin's plan, then Yamcha would've lost. What if we don't succeed?" Yor explained. She felt a soft hand patting her head and looked up to see Bulma smiling at her.
"I wouldn't worry too much about it, Yor. Yamcha isn't gonna lose that easily and I'm sure he won't have to deal with something like that invisible creep again. And above all else we have Goku here. If anyone can assure that we win this thing it'll be him." Bulma reassured the younger girl.
Her words seemed to have worked as Yor's nerves calmed down. "Right! Thank you, Bulma! You really are nice!"
"Of course, I'm nice! Those jerks just can't see how much of a delicate woman I am!" Bulma huffed, making Yor giggle.
"I'll be sure to give these fights everything I have as well!" Yor declared, pumping her fists.
"You better!"
The group eventually arrived at the new arena, The Devil's Toilet. It was much different from the standard arena they were used to as it consisted of two massive devil statues sitting on toilets. Their tongues were sticking out to close the gap between them and act as the stage's floor. "W-what is this place?!" Yamcha asked, shocked.
"You'll be fighting on those demons' tongues. Below is a pool of deadly poison. If you fall, you die." Baba explained. She dropped some meat into the pool to prove her point of how deadly the liquid was. "As you can see, if you fall in, you'll melt away."
"EH?!'
"Hm… I see." Yor had the most reasonable reaction for once. She was used to dealing with poison as she was trained to be immune to several dozen types of toxins and be adept in using them. The Garden only gives their younger members non-deadly poisons to avoid any accidents, so once she's older she'll be able to dabble more in lethal kinds. "Maybe, it would be better for me to handle it from here?"
"Nah, I got this!" Yamcha denied, still wishing to make up for his poor performance earlier. If he couldn't handle a situation like this then he had no right to call himself a fighter.
"Are you sure? Last chance to back out." Baba warned.
"I'm not gonna give up here!"
"Heh, that's more like it. Allow me to introduce you to the third warrior."
Bulma shook her head in disappointment. "The sister's a sadist and the brother's a pervert! You two really are quite the siblings!" Wisely Roshi didn't respond, because Bulma was completely correct.
"COME OUT! THE DRIED-UP MUMMY-MAN!"
Stepping out of the left demon's mouth was a huge man wrapped in white bandages. He was the tallest one so far, his massive body looming over Yamcha's. "Geez. First the vampire, then the invisible guy, and now a mummy? What is this? Some kind of Halloween party?" Yamcha jokes.
"Ready? If you give up or die, you lose! NOW BEGIN!"
Yamcha got into a stance and started analyzing his opponent. "He looks like the kinda guy who relies on brute force…okay then, I'll need to utilize this narrow ledge and beat him with speed!" Both fighters charged one another, shocking Yamcha. He hadn't expected the large mummy to move so fast, especially as he jumped above him. The ex-bandit ducked under the wide kick, but he had no chance to counter as the mummy quickly kept him on the defense with rapid punches.
"H-he's fast!" Roshi exclaimed.
"Really?" Goku and Yor both tilted their heads.
"Guh!" Yamcha was backhanded towards the ledge. Everyone screamed his name, afraid to watch their friend plummet to his death. Luckily, Yamcha grabbed onto the ledge to avoid falling to his death.
"Get up. It's no fun if I win this quickly." Mummy-Man demanded, allowing Yamcha to climb back up.
"What the heck are you doing?! Go take care of that bandaged jerk!" Bulma cheered(?) for her boyfriend.
"Yamcha! Please hang in there!" Puar sounded a lot more supportive.
Determined to claim victory, Yamcha used his iconic technique. "Watch this! Wolf Fang Fist!" However, each strike was dodged by the mummy. Then his feet were swept from underneath him, causing him to hit the stone tongue. The Mummy-Man jumped into the air and brought down his knee into Yamcha's gut. "GYAAA!"
"YAMCHA!"
"Hmph. There's no point in fighting you any more than this. Say 'I give'!" The Mummy-Man huffed.
Baba smirked at her assured victory. "Naturally, he's no mat-"
"Gotcha!" Yamcha swiped the mummy's feet from under him. Without his balance the mummy descended into the poison.
"The mummy's falling! He did it!" Bulma exclaimed.
"Forgive me…" Yamcha apologized for having to kill him. He watched the mummy fall to his doom until the mummy grinned wickedly. He unfurled some of his wrapping and whipped it towards the tongues.
Yor's eyes widened, she jumped towards the edge of the spectator's window. "YAMCHA! STOP HIS BANDAGE!"
The ex-bandit's eyes widened at her shout, pushing through his own pain, Yamcha rushed towards the bandage and grabbed it. The mummy gasped in shock as his plan of swinging himself back to the top had been thwarted by that girl. He glares at Yamcha who is basically holding him at checkmate. "Give up or I'm dropping you!"
"Hmph. You think you've won?" The Mummy-Man used his other arm to whip bandages towards the tongue. Yamcha acted quickly grabbing that one as well.
"What was even the point-gyuck!" Yamcha yelped as the mummy used him as a leverage to swing himself around. Yamcha held firm to his spot to avoid getting dropped into the poison, but that's exactly what the mummy wanted. He swung right back up to the top from behind with his legs ready to smash Yamcha's back.
"JUMP, YAMCHA!" Goku yelled this time.
"Crap!" Yamcha reacted quickly, jumping into the air right before the mummy's attack could land. Eyes widened at Yamcha's quick action and the ex-bandit took advantage of his position in the air. He had to act quickly or else his chance at victory would truly slip away. "Never tried it like this before, but let's see you dodge this one!" He took his familiar stance, causing the mummy's eyes to widen. "Wolf Fang Fist!"
Unable to move, the mummy was bombarded by the martial artist's strikes as each one landed against his face with powerful precision. Yamcha's final double palm strike smashed the mummy into the stone tongue headfirst. He touched back down, breathing heavily as he awaited for his opponent to get back up. For once, lady luck must've been smiling down on him as the mummy's eyes had rolled to the back of his skull, signifying his victory.
Baba was shocked that Mummy-Man had been defeated. "Huh, it seems you kids are capable of something."
"YEAH, YAMCHA!" Puar and Bulma exclaimed.
"And that's another one down!" Krillin grinned.
"Nice one!" Goku added.
"Yes, excellently done, Yamcha!" Yor smiled happily.
"He was lucky that Goku and Yor alerted him twice, otherwise this fight might've ended differently." Roshi hummed. He was happy to see Yamcha pull it off regardless, since it allowed him to see his sister look so shocked.
Yamcha looked up at Baba, smirking proudly. "How's that?"
"I will admit that this one threw me for a loop, but don't expect to pull out a miracle for this next one. Are you ready to go on?" She asked him.
"Hell yeah! Bring it on!" Yamcha challenged. "I said I was gonna beat the last five, didn't I?!"
"Sure, you did, but you might regret not giving up this time. Here comes my next chosen fighter. COME OUT, ANGEL!"
"Angel?" Yor questioned. She and the others watched as slow footsteps echoed throughout the arena as the next fighter entered from the devil's mouth. Walking out of the shadows was a woman of slender build. She had long black hair that reached down to her lower back and a bright halo hovering above her head. She's dressed in a white dress that reached down to her ankles and long white wings attached to her back. Her upper face was covered by a golden mask that resembled wings.
Angel took a bow with her palms pressed together that resembled a prayer. "Good day, young one."
"U-uh…nice to meet you…!" Yamcha couldn't help but blush. Even with her face covered she looked beautiful. Suddenly, a wave of bloodlust was being thrown at him, causing him to look at the audience. Bulma was giving him the meanest glare he's ever seen, knowing full well what thoughts might be going through his head.
"Huh? She doesn't look very menacing." Puar said, staring at Angel.
"I wonder…" Roshi knew better than to take any of Baba's fighters lightly. There was something about this new one that felt off. He wasn't the only one as both Goku and Yor stared at the woman as well, but for different reasons.
"She looks familiar." They both couldn't help but think.
"You better kick her butt, Yamcha!" Bulma shouted.
"Ready?" Baba received nods from both combatants. "BEGIN!"
Yamcha was in a stance, ignoring his injuries from his last two fights. "It's a good thing I've gotten over my fear of girls, but even if she's a woman I can't afford to hold back. We gotta win this-Huh?" Yamcha blinked, nor was he the only one. Without warning Angel had completely disappeared from their sight.
Only three people had been able to follow her movements and yelled. "BEHIND-" Goku and Yor's warning came too late as slender fingers poked the back of Yamcha's neck. The ex-bandit dropped to the floor like a brick.
Angel stood over Yamcha's unconscious body, bowing respectfully. "I apologize, but victory is mine."
"YAMCHA!" Puar and Bulma cried.
"No way…! I didn't even see her move!" Krillin gasped.
"Woah…" Upa muttered.
"Ah, as expected." Baba smirked at the efficient victory. She knew this one was going to be a bit different from the other fights and she was happy to be proven right this time. The witch watched as Puar floated down to grab his friend's body. "Who's next?" She asked the audience, more specifically the only two who were actually going to fight.
Yor jumped down onto the tongue before anyone could stop her. "I'll handle this!"
"Aw man! I wanted to fight her…" Goku whined as Yamcha's unconscious body was brought back in by Puar. He felt bad for Yamcha, but seeing just how fast Angel had moved had gotten him excited. This opponent looked like she was going to be a good fight, so he was bummed that Yor acted before he did. "Oh well, I'll take the next one."
The young assassin took out her knives and adopted a stance. She could feel the pressure coming from this woman, but at the same time she couldn't shake off the familiarity as well. But she didn't have time to focus on that as of now, they needed to win. "I'm sorry, miss, but would you be willing to die for me?"
Angel hummed, pulling hands apart and actually getting into a stance. "I wonder…which one of us will actually die here?"
"Ready?" Baba received nods from both combatants. "BEGIN!"
Yor moved to strike, but Angel had grabbed both her wrists, twisting them and forcing Yor to drop her knives. Then a powerful kick followed and propelled Yor into the demon statue's head. The young assassin gasped for air after it had been kicked out of her, luckily she had enough sense to dodge the two golden projectiles that had been thrown her way. Yor stared down at Angel, who smirked at her.
"Is that really all you can do?" Angel taunted.
Yor pulled her knives out of the stone, staring at Angel in confusion. "Just who are you…?" Her brain just hurt from hearing Angel's voice.
Angel frowned slightly before smiling again. "If you win, then I'll tell you."
Yor touched back down on the tongues, keeping her senses sharp this time. "Fine, try not to die then."
Chapter End
NOTE: And that's a wrap for this chapter! Next one will likely be the end of Baba's little tournament, which will then take us into the next arc which will be Yor returning home before we get into the 22nd Tournament.
Yor gets her first experince of the old DB fan-service humor. This is something a lot of modern Shonen don't do anymore, SpyxFamily for example doesn't have these gags. The DB manga (Which is what I'm using) doesn't have a lot of these gags besides Roshi making some comments. So, this is likely the first and last time Yor has to deal with Bulma getting hit with sexual harassment.
Bulma is gonna treat Yor like a little sister and I think she'd be a lot softer with her than she is with the boys.
Yamcha got to win against the mummy here compared to canon. I felt like giving Yamcha a win and as Roshi states, the only reason he won was due to Goku and Yor alerting him of the mummy's attacks.
You can all probably guess who "Angel" is, but for the sake of the surprise don't say anything.
Merry Christmas!
